  1. Hi, Affinity community, Can you accurately size construction guides in the new beta? I'm running version 1.7.0.4 and as you can see in the attached image, drawing construction circles by hand is not accurate. I tried multiple times to align a construction circle with a circle and failed every single time. I feel like I should be able to adjust construction circle size through the Transform panel for pixel-perfect accuracy. Also, I cannot seem to find a way to resize or delete construction circles. Guides Manager doesn't even identify them, and the Backspace button doesn't do anything while the guide is selected. Shouldn't I be able to delete guides the same way I can delete any other objects? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Rob

    Expand stroke bug

Hey there Affinity team! A new user here and I have been enjoying Affinity Designer experience so far, but I found a majour bug when expanding a stroke of a circle object. Here is a screen-cap of the problem. Screen_Recording_2018-12-28_at_22_34_38.mov
  3. Hello I want to make the text to write in a circle and not outside the circle, how can I do that? Here is the text outside the circle with using the text tool, I want it to be inside the circle (and as a result the text at the lower part to be read right and not be upside down), in illustrator I was dragging the symbol at the beginning of the path and pulled it inside the circle but I can't replicate this here.
  4. Draw a circle with border, expand stroke and you get an oval! Expand stroke is a very useful tool, but is not accurate, at least with circles as you can see in the screen shot. Please fix this bug.
  5. Hello, I would like the text centered at the top and bottom of a circular path.I adjusted the red/green arrows to the sides of the circle, highlighted the text, and selected "align center" for the text. This seems to be centered... is this accurate? Thanks! text center on path.afdesign
  6. hi there, how to get the exact length of a curve or the circumference of a circle in affinity designer?
  7. Hi, I am designing a circular logo through affinity designer. I am having trouble removing the reset art board so that I can export my image just as the circle. I have been looking everywhere but I have not found a solution. I already set the background to transparent when I set up the document but it will not save without it. Essentially, I am wondering how to remove the background and save my design as a circle instead of also saving the white space background on the art board. Any help would be amazing I have been looking for so long and I am very frustrated! Thanks!
  8. I have a photo that includes several round balls. I want to select one of the balls, which is mostly round and I would like to use the 'Elliptical Marquee Tool' not the Selection Brush because I can 'see' the edges I want better than the Selection Brush. But I just don't get how to use the Elliptical selection tool. If I start a new selection at say point X, Y, the larger the selection, the more the 'top left' corner moves off of X,Y to a new position, X+a, Y+b. My selection ends up not aligning perfectly the ball. How do I micro adjust the selection to get the proper alignment? I don't have the 'balls' shot handy but assume this light is a ball and I want to very carefully select a round object. I don't understand why I can't start the circle at the top left edge or how to properly refine it later
  9. Hi all, More than likely very simple but has left me losing hours All I need to know is how to convert my text to a path so that I can for example place my text on a circle or arch... Many thanks in advance JP
  10. Hi I would find it really helpful to be able to draw lines and circles that are tangent to either 1 or 2 existing circles. I have a link here that shows what I am talking about - it is a program called AutoCAD https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=autocad+snap+to+tangent&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=UpkJWsC7CebG8Aft1I-oAg#gfe_rd=cr&kpvalbx=1 Thanks Rob

    Random circle

I continue to have this strange circle show up. It’s not an object and only goes away when I exit the program. At first I thought it might be related to the color picker (about the same size) but I can’t replicate it.

  14. I've read the help pages and watched tutorials. I just can't seem to find how to correctly constrain a circle or square using the marquee tools (gesture with a second finger). Any help further explaining this would be appreciated. Please be detailed since the other help sources do not fully explain how to do this. Thanks.
  15. It would be nice a feature like AutoCAD POLAR ARRAY, so you can place object/selections around a specified point, or along a specified path. The essential options are : number of objects, angle between objects, radius of array, rotate objects ON/OFF. Thank you :)
  16. Hello, I share my work, I hope it is to your liking and they accept constructive criticism and advice, I have loved the program of affinity designer XD excellent work :3
  17. I'm usually pretty creative in finding solutions, but this one has me stumped. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to create something like the attached? So far, I've been trying by hand. But the tiny variations in pressure on the lines stands out. The line pressure tool, as we know, is fairly restrictive. I don't want to recreate the attached exactly. Just that effect, of line pressure, but arranged in a circular way, geometrically even. Any clues?
  18. Hello. I want to create a circle and the top half of the circle needs to be black and the bottom half of the circle needs to be another color. I'm using stroke since the inside of the circle will be white. Do I create two circles? What's the best practice? Thanks.
  19. Hi Folks, Been a while since I've been on here! Anyway I'm after help yet again. So I'm putting together a logo design for a friend and the design is a full circle with a smaller circle within the outer. However, the inner circle needs to be broken at the bottom... I have attached a couple of rough sketch's that I have done so that you get the idea what I am talking about. Basically what is the best way to create the break in the inner circle? Confused? you will be   Cheers in advance, because I know you lot will know the answer ;) Mark Logo sketch.pdf

    Duplicate rotation

Hi, I've noticed that when you duplicate using the command + j of an object that has the centre point moved (let's say to one end of a line that you have drawn), rotate it one degree and keep duplicating (say you want to have 360º of lines like in compass), it introduces a fraction once and a while. I'm just getting to know Designer and I was testing the duplicate command. I wanted to have 360 lines corresponding to 360º on a compass and every 2nd or 4th duplication (it's not always consistent), I get a fraction introduced to the next line. For example, I draw a line vertically, convert it to curves, move the centre point to the base of the line, rotate it 1º and then duplicate it, 2º, 3º and then it duplicates it 4.1º! Am I missing a setting or step in the process??? Attached Pic: notice in the transform pane the R: field is showing 110.1º after duplicating it from 108º, 109º then poof 110.1º. I have to manually correct it then move on duplicating it. I also notice this will only work with a line that has been converted to curves. The process won't even work at all if the line is just kept as a line. Duplicating it gets even weirder if it isn't converted!!! Duplicate problem.tiff
  22. Hi there. For the life of me I don't know how to draw a circle marque on a layer mask and then move and adjust it WITHOUT cutting the mask. Please help! In Photoshop I would create my own vignettes by making a black layer and then masking it with a feathered circle. And I can A) draw the marquee circle right in the center of the layer using modifiers (which I can't find with AP). and B) move the marque around freely without taking a chunk of the mask with it (which I can't find in AP). heeeellllp :) thanks! :D

  24. Hello, forum. I just recently bought Affinity Designer and I am hoping to make the full transition from Illustrator soon. :) I am trying to make a logo for a friend and I am using the Text tool onto a circle. The little triangle handles allow me to manipulate the text to write either on the outer or the inner part of the circle, except for just one letter. As you can see in picture 1, as I get the handles nearer together, the text goes into the inner part, which is what I want, but then the 'G' stays in the outer rim, and no matter how close I get one handle to the other, it just stays there (picture 2), and if I pass the first handle, it pops right back to the outer rim (picture 3). I can work around this easily by converting the text into paths, but it is pretty annoying, especially when working on rough drafts and the sort. I hope this gets fixed soon. Cheers.
  25. If I have a circle, and I want to delete half of it - to create an arc (i.e. the circle is no longer closed), how can I do that ? :-) I've tried convert to curves, thinking this may stop it from closing. However every time I delete a point, a new curve is generated between the two open points. Any ideas ? Is there a check box somewhere to not close end points ? Thanks Gary
