  1. Hi, Another little character using AD, frankentoon, Blender and Spine. I think it needs some shadow on the top of the tank-track. PS ( I added a timelapse a few posts lower
  2. A vector cartoon drawing using affinity designer
  3. Hey all, here's my latest all vector Designer character. A fun, cheeky and a little "nutty" cartoon squirrel character created for Nutty Squirrel Games, a client in San Francisco. Also, I decided it was time for a refresh on my Forum avatar. Love working on these types of illos in Designer!!
  4. I made this beetwen my normal duty in job, no sketches just clicking by mouse in AD, I try to prepare this stuff to use later in Moho. Anybody have a experience with pairing these two software? experience
  5. While procrastinating for loads of work that I should've done like yesterday... I started to sketch this guy out... until the point it got finished haha... and that's the magic of procrastination... made with Designer :) Hope you like it!
  6. So... After a few trials and errors, I have the 3rd proof back from the printers. Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey started a little while back as single comic strips but felt it wasn't the right direction. So its turned into a Children's book (under 5's) it's aimed at pre-schoolers. There is so much more to the story and I'm sure I'll tell it one day. I wrote and put the book together in Affinity Designer and yes I'm looking forward to publisher, which no doubt would've helped but it worked. Anyway, the next step is to send a copy to a few publishers and I'm also considering self-publishing. There will also be a few copies available, so you lucky people get to experience the first, (hopefully) in a series of many. So if you've got young kids and would like a copy leave a comment...Thinking of you Matt P and Chris B... (Is this also the first Children's book to come out of Designer?) Allan
  7. Is there a way i can make turn a photo of a person into a cartoon on ad/ap?
  8. Hello, just to be clear, I would like to draw the cartoon by hand, but use Affinity for certain purposes to make things easier and to enhance the final product. Therefore, I don't have use for a comic making software like Manga or such. The problem is, I don't have experience on this, and I don't know the technical terms of what I'm thinking of, so I'm not sure how to start asking whether I would able to do the things I'm thinking of with Affinity. So, maybe I just describe what I have planned. I would appreciate if you would tell me if these are possible with Affinity, and what the terms are: 1. First, I would draw by hand some recurring things, like basic body shapes for main characters and such. I would scan them. From the scans I would like to somehow easily crop out the drawings along their outer lines (is there a name for this procedure?), and store the drawings in a bank for later use. 2. Then I would set up a page for a comic strip with Affinity. I would need to have points for the corners of the boxes to have the comic strip outlined. And then take from the bank whatever I would need in that particular strip and place them there, or even partially outside of the strip (for example if I only need a character chest-up). Can I set it up so the corber points stay on top, even if I would place a character on the same location? 3. Then I would print it and draw the rest for it. Connect the corner points to make the boxes of the comic strip. 4. Scan the whole finished strip, and apply some final touches, erase everything outside the strip boxes (for example the lower body of that character I used only chest-up). The key points are that: the scanned drawings would have to be exactly the same size throughout the process, so a 0.5 pen would look exactly the same in 1. and 3. So when I crop them and store them, and then bring back again, they would be the correct size. And that I could operate on an A4 with the box corners outlined all the time. I hope you got what I'm going for. I appreciate if you can say whether I can do these with Affinity, and I would appreciate to know what the names of there functions are. Cheers!
  9. Hello guys! This is Jixie Bubblegum, a quick character I made last night using Designer and my Texturizer Pro brushes. Hope you dig!
  10. Hi there, Very new to this software, can someone please help me on obtaining a cartoon effect on a photos we see everywhere esp. profile pics Thanks Affinity Designer( Windows 7)
  11. As an exercise, I knocked up this illustration. I'm thinking of migrating to a simpler, more easily achievable style of illustration. Up to now, I've been painting everything in acrylics and then digitising the results. I've found AD every bit as good as Illustrator so far. This took me all morning, so I hope to get faster eventually. All the best, Kevin
  12. So here is my latest AD creation. And I must say that I really like it :) Created as a t-shirt design, you can check out how it works out as a t-shirt here: https://www.facebook.com/rimaucorporation/photos/pcb.1158414130905680/1158412160905877/?type=3&theater or here: https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/749895-socks-based-on-a-true-story I must admit it took a bit more time that expected to finish, I was beginning with much more symbolic face expressions idea, but wasn't happy with the outcome.
  13. Hi All, I've had this idea for a while and finally i've got a few ideas up and its going in the right direction. Think clumsy Monkey who does silly things or just doesn't think... and the catchphrase with Jiraffe. May give it a new direction and turn it into in to a kids book at some point, or do i keep it adult based with interest for kids??? Probably would go down the route of Peppa Pig, Hey Duggee if it was aimed at kids. SO need to think about that but maybe keep it as is and look to get these published in a mag or online somewhere?? I still remember my comics as a kid and reading things like Hagar the horrible in the newspaper.. Anyway, thoughts & suggestions welcomed... Here are a few from the Ohhh, My Strawberry Monkey series Allan
  14. Project using Affinity Designer Windows beta. I thought the idea of Frankenstein with a pink Poodle a bit quirky!
  15. Hello everyone, I thought it would be nice to share my first illustrations made ever, enjoy :) I saw a finished picture of a how-to-draw-a-castle tutorial and I tried to copy it without actually following the tutorial itself. This one is incomplete tho. My greetings.
  16. No idea who these two are. Feel free to make up your own story. Winner gets a Kinder Surprise.
  17. Slack Monday...so rather than doing any actual work spent my morning playing about illustrating a rocket ship for fun.
  18. Hi everybody, I would like to know your sincere opinion on this RPG-like character. For some reason I feel that something's missing, I'm a little bit stuck with this one, It doesn't kill me, you know?… perhaps you could help with an extra pair of fresh eyes on this... I would really, really appreciate your comments :)
  19. Playing with some new techniques. I've been sketching directly with vectors and so far I'm happy with the results. What do you think?. Any comment is welcome :)
  20. Just a few things I have been doing with Affinity Designer so far. I have been using it every day for my daily illustrations to a newspaper in Finland - Hufvudstadsbladet - but I cannot wait until they will release the iOS-version so I can use it on my recent purchase; the iPad Pro with Pencil. You ain't seen nuthin' yet:) This first one is the cover of an economic magazine. Many of figures in this was used in other illustrations throughout the magazine, so AD works perfect this way, too, for a n00bie such as I:) Next one up is a flyer I designed for my brother who works as a wildlife guide up in the arctic part of Norway. With AD it was a piece of cake to throw this together... The next two are examples of the daily illustrations I do for Hufvudstadsbladet...
  21. Finally was able to make the switch at work from Illustrator to Affinity Designer for any graphic images we use. Created this guy for a website based of the logo. I love the ability to adjust the stroke pressure to add a bit of variety in the stroke wide.
  22. I am really happy with this, knocked it up in about 45 min. This is my second attempt at my wacom and affinity and vector art. I am really happy with the outcome . Please feel free to give feedback. Jon Fuller
