  1. I tried to resize my Canvas from 1575x1080 to 1920x1080. I selected the centre anchor point. The resized image is not proportionately resized. There is noticeably more new space on the right than on the left. Check the screenshots. Second bug I find in 5 minutes, in the production edition of AP. This is not good.
  2. This is probably an easy one, but I haven’t been able to figure it out: I adjusted my photo to show only the portion of the canvas I want by using a mask, and now I have a cropped portion of my image over a transparent background. After I mess around some more with adjustments, I want to save a jpg-copy to use elsewhere that only includes my cropped image and does away with the transparent background. Unfortunatly, I can't figure out how to do that ... Bouns question: In order to be more flexible with the selection, I'd like to have a vector mask for a layer that I can non-destructivley resize. Any chances? Thanks, Ben
  3. Hi, Sometimes I'm assembling components on a page, but I'm working on a canvas that is sized towards the end result. Is there a way to keep objects dragged off-canvas visible or do I have to switch to a "canvas + artboard" model to keep track of those objects? If, for instance, I create an A4 landscape canvas and drag an object outside the canvas area it basically becomes invisible and can only retrieved by either block selecting the whole area and dragging it on the canvas again or highlighting the relevant layer and dragging it back onto the canvas. Is there a setting for the off-canvas border to remain behind objects dragged off-canvas? Attached: example circle partly vanishing when being off-canvas Cheers!
  4. I'm using Affinity Designer on a DisplayLink USB Display and sometimes I have rendering issues with the Affinity Designer canvas. I have tried with both 'hardware OpenGL' enabled and disabled. The recent update to macOS Sierra 10.12.2 (build 3) helped a lot as there used to be even worse rendering issues with toolbars and the canvas, but it doesn't appear to be completely fixed. Attached are two pictures of the rendering issue: the USB Display bug vs the Mac Display result.
  5. Greetings Affinity Designer Users, I'm hopping someone can point me into the right direction. When placing and using a graphic individually on to the canvas, Usually, anything that spills or leaks out from the canvas has always stayed within the canvas "margin" and or does not leak out. That is until you select the Artboard Tool and then you can have as many Art boards (Canvases or aka as the projects pages) in your project as you want, and all the graphics are perfectly visible outside of the actual canvas size (with no clipboard mode being used) as it normally should. (Please see image attached) But then, WHY is it then, that a glitch happens out of nowhere sometimes when your graphics start leaking out of the ClipArt board Canvas, when clearly I DID NOT want to create an ClipArt? nor did i select it the Art board Tool. How can I fix this ? It used to be not long ago where it would automatically fix itself after restarting the software but its coming back up with the file itself and those same settings are now being saved with that same setting for when i open up a new graphic art file. In Other words, How can I turn OFF that "Art board" feature (where graphics don't stay within the chosen margins and never really disappear after it leaks out the confined dimensions of the page as it usually would when in Artboard mode) I don't want that feature ON when I'M NOT using a Art board mode nor the Art Board Tool in my project. I just want the regular mode with its margined canvas without the Artboard tool, and without my graphics leaking out of my main comp. (For an example of Please see attached image) Again, this is me NOT using the Artboard Tool here, and the graphics still leak. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it if anyone can get back to me! Best always, PJ
  6. I have images with rounded corners which i would like to export. However, I cannot seem to export without the underlying square corners of the canvas appearing. Probably an easy answer, have not found it. I enclose a sample jpg export. Thanks!
  7. While I was cooking up some white vector drawings for a design which eventually ends up on a dark background it became clear that an ability to set the display colour of the "blocky" transparent canvas background would be very helpful. At present I use a locked dark background layer to work on, but I was wondering if I overlooked a setting somewhere that allows me to make that "blocky" transparent background a lot darker (for instance, by making the greys used in the block pattern much darker so it is still clear it is the transparent canvas). Anyone? Note to self: find a way to auto-follow topics I post, I keep forgetting to tick the "follow" box :).
  8. Forgive me if this has already been addressed. I did some looking, but couldn't find anything. In AD, is there a way to make tools such as align (object), text tool, and nudge respect the current rotation of the canvas with regard to creation and manipulation? I'm sure it's no easy task, and understand why the program would behave this way—respecting the object's coord/origin according to the artboard—but it just seems counterintuitive at times. Don't get me wrong, the ability to rotate the canvas is fantastic, especially when it comes to packaging work, but not being able to manipulate objects in an intuitive way when the canvas is rotated counteracts the benefit a little. Thanks! :)
  9. When rotating the canvas, my (complicated) guide structure does not rotate. I've uploaded a video of the bug in action on Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/vZZ8nLa4F
  10. Since a couple of days I am unable to use Affinity Designer on my MacBook Air 11" (early 2014, OS X 10.10). When I either start a new document or open an existing one there is no visible (white) canvas but only the grey background visible (see screenshot). I can, however, select objects and edit them and the document is visible in the navigator section of the studio. On another installation (iMac 27" late 2012, OS X 10.10) I have no issues at all and love using the hell out of Affinity Designer :) I have tried resetting AD to its default settings, deleting any related files in Library-->Preferences, resarting (several times) and deleting and reinstalling AD from the App Store. Is this a known issue? Can anyone help me?
  11. Hey guys! Im setting up my document for wallpaper creation - (sidenote) I think we need all apple devices in, not just mobile. It would be nice to have iMac 5K, iMac 4K, 15" MBP Retina as options and iPad Pro 9.7 Anyways. When I did Device>iPad Pro>Insert Artboard - It gave a resolution higher than 5K Same goes for iPhone 6 Plus, 6, and 5 It would be nice to get the exact resolution that the website details. Is this a bug, or is there a reason Im not figuring out?
  12. Hello! Welcome the first time and Congratulations! I work for 12 years at Adobe, Ai and I am glad that I can now work on Affinity. Fingers crossed! My first request. Management views. I miss: Rapid popup menu with views zooming options. Currently it is: After turning on the zoom icon (z) can choose from a menu pop up the amount of magnification. I wish it was still on the list: 1. the name of defined views from the View menu / Views 2. The ability to change the name and assign shortcuts to them. The list should be scrolling. Best to show in the entire contents. It has to be fast. Great that you can now define your own Views taking into account not only larger but also the rotation of the whole canvas. It's very simple to design such systems. Packaging. Thank you and best regards.
  13. Hi, Can anyone explain to me the difference between clip and unclip canvas. The two commands have (for so far I can see) the same result for my images; showing all the images (outside view after moving) and removing unwanted transparant pixels. Like to hear from you. Reik
  14. Hello! It's my first post here! Affinity Designer looks very promising, you have done great work! There's only couple key features thats' missing: - rotate canvas tool. This is must have feature if you are going to make affinity perfect for illustrators like me who uses Wacom cintiq and intuos. This feature works perfectly in Corel Painter (and pretty well in Sketchbook pro and PS) but there is no vector drawing software with this feature. I mean there's no way to draw naturally if you can't rotate canvas. - appearance panel (like in Ai). I use this feature all the time.
  15. Sometimes I need to expand an image to change its ratio. In gimp I would use the "Canvas Size" function first and then "Layer to image size". In Affinity Photo I have been able to resize the canvas but found no option to change layer sizes. Am I missing something?
  16. Hi, I'm a heavy fireworks user and really liked que Affinity Designer. Here some suggestions that for me is kind of feature killers. 1 - Measure Rulers form perfect ui alignment and creating objects. 2 - Fit to Canvas (Clip Canvas) quick button (at the top maybe?) 3 - Snap panels at the bottom of the program UI. Here example image:
  17. Hello Affinity team, I cannot tell if this is by design or just an oversight in regards to Designer and Photo… I am unable to add any guides to the document while any tool is selected other than the black arrow move tool. While working and wanting to quickly throw in a guideline, I find it to be an interruption to have to switch a tool just to add a guide to a specific location, I feel like it should always be available to drag onto the canvas at (well, almost) anytime. If a tool other than the black arrow is selected, the ability to add guides does work using the guide manager as a workaround, however using the guide manager is not nearly as fluid and can be cumbersome compared to the natural maneuver of just dragging it in where you want it. Tested using latest builds as of July 25, 2015 Thank you
  18. :( :( :( Really does not sound hopefully. Serif told us even this year we get Publisher this year. Even the Designer is not finished for professional use and a complete CANVAS will start next month. If we get Publisher 2017 it will be finished 2020? …
  19. Context: I make assets for the web and mobile apps. I do not make my assets on a giant artboard. When you have a ton of images performance suffers, layers get janky, and all your eggs are in the one file. Slicing is time consuming. I want a single file that I can just export and be done. My A.D. usage = 60% of my work; PS + FW + AI = 40% - I'd love to be 100% A.D. because they've done a great job with it and I love it. Need: I want to be able set the canvas size with ease. To do this the A.D. needs the following... Request Visual crop tool - There is currently no way to crop that I could find other than to adjust the numbers... this is too hard. Trim Command - I could not find this one either. Auto-canvas size based on clipboard - Canvas size should look at clipboard and default to that size (cmd+n ... return ... cmd+v ... and I'm editing in PhotoShop) If you agree that this should be on the roadmap, like the post.. if not what am I missing? Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
  20. Hi, I'm laying out a website in Affinity Designer. I'm using a lot of black and so would like to lighten up the dark gray canvas around my layout to a lighter gray. I've looked around and can't figure out how to do this. Can I change the canvas color and how? Thanks
  21. Since the release of Affinity Designer and now with the recent release of Affinity Photo Beta I've experienced an odd behaviour when panning the canvas around the screen. It appears the canvas boundaries expand slightly around the edges when panning around and sometimes when zooming the canvas in and out. Please see attached screen recording. Document Canvas Screen Recording.mov Has anyone else experienced this issue?
  22. I absolutely love Affinity but right now there are still some tools that forbid me to completely leave Adobe. They are: - Crop Canvas (or Crop Document) - Trim Canvas - Resize Canvas - New document based on clipboard object (match size with the object on clipboard) Something to think about: - Responsive design / document states - I think there are no tools on the market that allow us to properly address this. It would be great to create different states for a document, this would allow us to reuse page elements and arrange them in different document sizes. This could then export to an html page that would allow us to show our clients how a responsive page would perform in different sizes. This export would have media queries and would change images for different window sizes. - Sprite sheets - Properly address the creation of sprite sheets, generate css, define hover, active states for sprites, etc. This would be really killer! Make this tools and you'll have all the new generation of designers going to Affinity (The old designers will stick with Photoshop till its death :) ). Thanks.
  23. In Adobe, I was able to see my work that was off the "art board". In AD, I can see the selection box showing it's there, but I can't see it. Sometimes I like to work away from project and then move into project. I've looked in preferences and view menu. Thanks. I am so in love with Affinity.
  24. Good evening, This afternoon I downloaded the beta version special made for mac, and it looks great!! But I have a question. I like to see my pictures like this http://www.plantennamen.info/blauw-glidkruid-scutellaria-galericulata When I used Photoshop in the past I made the canvas size 5 px bigger then the image size. I tried it with Affinity but how hard I tried it won't work. Can you tell me how I must do it? Regards, Maarten
  25. Pardon my ignorance and excuse me if this was asked before, I can't seem to find a good answer. I'm trying to develop a poster that'll be 20in by 24in. I've created my document and set my dimensions. My final product's EPS file is massive, which I understand will happen. Previously, I used Illustrator. I could resize the document and the items inside would scale appropriately. So then the resulting file would be smaller and easier to send to print. Right now if I resize the document, it just makes the document smaller and the current content sits in absolute positions wherever they were designed to be on a larger canvas. Is it possible that I'm missing something and someone could point me in the correct direction? Thanks a ton!
