  1. Begin previewing a filter (I've been playing with Halftone, start there if others don't work) on a raster layer (that presumably has other layers beneath it) During filter previewing, drop down the blending mode menu and hover over different selections in order to preview the filter with the blending mode The canvas flickers but the blending mode on the canvas doesn't reflect what the mouse is hovering over. However, clicking on the blending mode does force the canvas to reflect the selected mode - it's just the blending mode menu hover that doesn't properly render the preview on the canvas.
  2. 1. Is there a way to crop the document/canvas/artboard to the exact rectangular area of the selected objects? In photoshop, you could cmd+click on the layer's thumbnail to select the entire object in the layer, then press C to switch to crop tool, and it automatically fits the crop area to the selection, so you get the minimum canvas size that fits the object. How do you achieve this in AD? While it's able to cmd+click on a layer to select the objects, I can't figure out a way to do the cropping for the canvas other than adjusting the document size with numbers. 2. when exporting, the "Area" dropdown menu is greyed out, how do I enable it? Thanks
  3. I changed some settings and now one of my fav features is gone not sure how to get back. Before, when I created a canvas size, all of my artwork and designs would disappear and crop up against the border walls of the canvas. Showing ONLY the canvas and the content inside.Making everything on the outside selectable but invisible. I like this because it keeps things clean. Now my designs pass through the border and just float there. Any help on getting old setting back? Heres a picture of what I DONT want.
  4. Hello there, I found a really strange bug. I am working on an item in Detail. But as soon as I zoom out, to get the whole picture, the canvases enlarges itself. Normally it should be the size of the main image (I set the properties of the canvas so they match the resolution of the image). It's not that I can't work anymore, but it's quite disturbing. Does someone have an idea why this happens (I tried rastering every pixel-image but that didn't help)? You can see the problem in the two screenshots I uploaded (First one zoomed out, the last one zoomed in) thanks for any help, Manju
  5. Hi there guys! Affinity Photo 1.6.7 on iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009) here I don't know if this is related in any way to this bug or it's a 'by design' choice but this is what I've found: - Selections are not affected by canvas flipping (see the screenshots). Is this normal? (btw using "Select/edit selection as a layer" I cannot even flip the canvas ) thank you

    Rotate Canvas jagged lines

First of all, thank you for 1.6.4 release. I have this issue in both Photo and Designer that Rotate Canvas makes my lines jagged. In Designer my View mode is set to Vector and I have Bilinear as View quality. It is a real problem with thinner lines. I'm on Windows 10 64 bit.
  7. I'm using the trial version of Affinity. One of my favorite features of the design program I am used to using is the ability to drag objects off the screen, but still be able to see and manipulate them. It would take a long time to explain why I use the feature, but I use it a ton. So far, I can't see a way to do that in Affinity. Is it possible? Do I need to switch modes or something?
  8. Hello there, Today I've encountered a weird bug where canvas won't clip contents inside it. Also when using the brush tool close to the edges, artifacts appear. Crop tool simply changes the "canvas border". The light gray artifacts are caused because of GIF compression, so please ignore. This issue appeared when I created a new document using the Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N shortcut (new document from clipboard). I tried restarting the Photo and my PC, but nothing changed. Tried to create new files, still the same problem. The version I'm using is 1.6.2.97 Thanks for your help in advance.

    Zooming / canvas bug

Often (about 75% of the time) when I load in a jpg or png to start with on my project the actual document shows up in only a corner of the "canvas" when really the image is taking up the full space. You can see below how when I zoom in and out at different levels it: - sometimes fill up only part of the canvas area - sometimes fills up whole canvas area - sometimes glitches out with random squares appearing in different areas I'm running MacOS latest 10.13.2 Affinity Photo 1.6.6
  10. I'd love to be able to "resize canvas to selected objects" or, perhaps even better, "create new from clipboard". So far, that's my only missing feature... Hopefully it's an easy feature to implement too! :) All the best, keep up the great work-- -Sunny
  11. Simply an oil portrait, without much editing. Photographed from the canvas, some contrast settings made with Affinity Photo, that's all. Looking forward to feedbacks TNX http://b-bertuleit.de/oil-painting/
  12. The reason is because AD assigns a width and a height to the SVG of "100%". Firefox does not allow % for width and height in a canvas. I found this info on a stackoverflow question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38106906/canvas-drawimage-inline-svg-doesnt-work-on-firefox After removing the %, it worked. And even the w3schools's article on SVGs does not include a % or any other unit: https://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_svg.asp Chrome renders it just fine. Again, this is for canvas only. Firefox will render the SVG as is just fine when it's simply pasted into some HTML. But if you try to render it in Firefox inside a canvas, it does not render the SVG.
  13. Hello! I’m testing Autodesk Sketchbook with Wacom Intuos Photo Small tablet. I can zoom, rotate and move (in any direction) canvas with two fingers, without take fingers off tablet. It is very comfortable. Can you implement such feature in Affinity Designer / Photo (Windows)? I love Affinity software but I miss comfortable manipulation of canvas. Sławek
  14. Hi. I like to have a shortcut available to reset rotation since it happened many times to me , i design mostly with my MacBook pro on the go, (thanks to your software i can even get work done on my girlfriend's base model 12 inch, god bless you guys for that.) and i rotate the screen accidentally , i'd like a fox for that. i know a bit about US so i suggest 3 ways to approach this issue: 1. Tiny Pop Up button on the side of the screen, to appear whenever the the screen is not adjusted. (this doesn't have to be on AP since thats mostly work done on photo but on the other hand, for experience consistency i would suggest that to be tried at least.) 2. pop up button available on touch bar whenever canvas is rotated. 3. keyboard shortcut. Thanks guys
  15. Hi does anyone have any idea how to stop (or disable) the document (canvas) from moving around. It can be a bit annoying when you slightly touch the mouse and it would cause the document to move. This issue also happen when click and hold the mouse to select objects in the document, but when you release it to confirm your selection, the document would sometime jump a little bit. May I request for the next update to allow users to disable the document from moving around? :)
  16. I have found AD to be WAY more intuitive and easy to use than Illustrator or other vector programs, including Sketch. It is such a joy to use that it has become my favorite go-to tool for design and layout. Take the pen tool in the draw persona, for example; it is so darn intuitive and responsive that it almost feels magical. However, there is one thing that I have yet to master, and it is driving me bonkers! I'm sure it is a simple thing, once I learn the trick. Let's say I am working on a project that has hundreds of layers, groups and objects, and trying to find a particular object in the layers panel is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I can clearly see the object I am trying to get at on the canvas, but no manner of clicking, double-clicking, triple-clicking, right-clicking, Cmd-clicking, Option-clicking or any combination thereof gets me anywhere. And none of the layers are locked, so I ruled that out. Is it possible to drill down through the layers in the canvas or artboard without going to the layers panel? If so, what is the magic trick?
  17. When enlarging the canvas it would be nice to be able to specify the colour fill for area that appears around the image. One reason is that I use this to add colour borders to images and it would be handy if I could say 'make the border white' or grey, or black, etc. Thanks!
  18. hide left studio moves canvas which is disturbing hide right studio does not move the canvas which is nice at least it is not consistent like these popups are neither please also see https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/46267-tab-ui-canvas-moves/#comment-231494 canvas is moved and redrawn in a weird way when UI is hidden/ shown
  19. Hi Is it possible to draw outside the canvas area of af designer? is there a option to do this? like we can do on illustrator
  20. Hi Anyone gets this? I've been experiencing a black out on my artwork sometimes lately. Please se attachment. The way to solve it is closing and reopening the file. Maybe somehow related to the fat I'm using a two monitors? (one a macbook pro the other a cintiq screen, if this helps). Thanks.
  21. I am used to take daily pictures of the Sun, which appear as a filled circle on a black background. Such pictures have to be derotated by a certain angle to get the solar North exactly upwards and the South downwards in the x and y reference system of the image. Anyway, being an AP-iPad newbie, I have been not very successful with the relevant workflows I have tried. In fact, I have used the canvas rotation feature, which worked fine, but this resulted in an image which was obviously not squared in x and y. Hence, I have been unable to fill the missing parts to get a squared image that can be saved. Then, I have tried to work with a selection containing only the solar disk, but I got lost when trying to save a final image. Therefore, I would be grateful to get some hints about the most effective way to apply the rotation and to save the result. Thank you in advance!
  22. Hi all. How do you trim the canvas to include all the objects (but no more0? For example, in Photoshop you can simply use Trim. I can't find a similar function in Designer. Thanks!
  23. Hi from XD i suggest the artboard rename directly on double click, here an example.
  24. Hi Together, maybe I havent used the correct search terms, but I could not find anything in regard to my problem. In AD I see my canvas, but the space around it is always black. So I lose elements that I drag out of my canvas. I am used to place all my layout elements around the canvas and even explore design outside my canvas. Is there a way to change that view so that I can see everything that is placed around the canvas as well? I hope my question is clear (not english native speaker). Feel free to ask if anything is unclear.
  25. Hi, just installed both Photo and Designer on my Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16 and unfortunately, I am unable to rotate the canvas in any way shape of form except for the menu rotation of 90 degrees and so on... Is there a way to rotate the canvas via gestures just like is done in many other programs? It seems to me that this should be a default behavior. Please advice if I am doing something wrong, or if we should wait for a bug fix on this. Let me know if you need more information. Versions: Affinity Designer 1.5.3 Affinity Photo 1.5.2 Thanks in advance.
