If you create text with the artistic text tool, and give it a background colour, then convert the text into curves, affinity designer just crashes. It’d be quite nice if instead, it created a group with all of the letters as curves (like it does normally for text without a background colour), and then also a curve for the background. -

Just upgraded to V1.9.2 and can no longer print borderless. All was fine in 1.9.1. I've done a few test prints with full extension and there is now a non printed area at the edge of every print Normally when Borderless is selected in the print driver, the red dotted line around the edge of the preview disappears. This also no longer happens. Also the same bug in Photo 1.9.2 I've had to downgrade to 1.9.1 in both Designer and Photo until this is resolved

Hi everyone, For a client, I have to create a form for minutes of a meeting. Per line, I have five tabs overall. At the beginning of the tab is a word, then followed by dotted lines for handwriting. This looks a bit like this: Word.......... Word.......... Word.......... Word.......... Word.......... But for many lines, there are very varying exceptions with less than five words but with longer dotted lines, for example like this: Word.......... Word.......... Word.............................. Unfortunately, if two tabs meet each other with only dotted lines as filler, I get ugly empty gaps. Please, have a look at this screenshot: I know, I could avoid these gaps by removing the redundant tabs and extending the first tab. But there are so many exceptions per line (different amount of words and widths of dotted lines from one word to another) that it means, firstly I have to do alot of rework and secondly, if the client wishes for changes (what happens every few years), it's not easy to add or remove words, because I have to adjust the tab distances for every line. Is there a better way, to remove these gaps, without altering the tab lengths?

I have been trying to get astro stacking to work. The crash happens at different steps in the process. I have not been able to identify a consistent crash sequence. So, here are steps that I've done that have led to a crash (multiple examples). Specs: windows 10 version 1.9.2.1035. Also, when I say crash, I mean the app literally crashes and is no longer running. When I open affinity photo again, there is no partially saved document (if that's a feature for the astro stack, which I am not sure of) to restore. First 4 crashes: New astro stack Add Files for Lights. I selected 15 .arw (sony raw) image files. (These opened and appeared fine, except they were shot vertically and were displayed horizontally--in case that matters). Add Files for Dark: I select 1 dark file, upon confirming my file selection the app crashed. Next Few Crashes: 3. I was able to complete the selecting of a Dark file. 4. I press Stack and almost immediately crashes--I do not believe a progress bar had time to pop up. Next crash: New astro stack Add Files for Lights. I selected 5 .arw files. I selected the Dark file I press stack (it works this time) I press apply. I'm taken to the photo persona with 1 image pixel layer and 2 adjustment layers. I toggle the adjustment layers to see how they affect the image. AND IT CRASHES. I REBOOT MY MACHINE. Next Crash: New astro stack Add Files for Lights. I selected 5 .arw files. I selected the Dark file and it crashes Next 2 crashes: New astro stack Add Files for Lights. I selected 2 .arw files. I try to click on each image to ensure it's loaded. When I click on the second image IT CRASHES. So, I have not been able to successfully use this feature, which I was looking forward to. It seems many suffer this same problem. Hi, I have downloaded the new 1.7.0 version and followed by 1.7.1. The performance is a disaster and a real workstopper. Drawing something with any Brush tool is the worse I have encounter anytime (no matter if Healing, Brush or Clone....). I have a new top series NTB and Wacom Pro..... but I feel like working with old 486 PC :( I have been using AP for about the time of the first official release, but never saw anything like this :( This had not been a case of 1.6. version that one worked fine for me, but now I do draw something on Wacom and have to wait around 2 to 5 seconds till I see it on the screen, which makes any realtime drawing impossible I have tried restarting many times..... sometimes it works most time not...... It does not seem to be problem of Wacom as it looks the same working with touchpad or a mouse. Do not tell me I am the only one with this problem...... Please let me now ASAP as I am a professional and this makes my job unable...... Thanks Jindra- 9 replies

I'm exporting my vector graphic as an svg. When I open the svg in Firefox or Google Chrome most of the colour is missing. I think all the missing colour is the gradients My SVG is filled with stuff like fill:url(#_Radial2) but I can't find anywhere in the file where #_Radial2 specifies a colour Unchecking "flattern transforms", "use hex colours", or use "relative coordinates" had no effect --------------- I uploaded screenshots of my export settings, as well as what the SVG looks like in a browser, and also the SVG file itself trombone.svg

With metal hardware acceleration activated on an Apple Silicon Mac with Retina display, using a masked gradation curve inside a layer containing transparent areas, the transparency seems to be reduced on parts of that layer, even if the gradation curves mask doesn't should alter anything in that area. This problem only appears, if an image is present in the background. Without having a background image, the wrong transparency alteration does not happen. This seems to be a bug in metal hardware acceleration, because deactivating it solves the problem. -
So run into this problem where the head and tail offsets for a brush don’t seem to work for closed shapes (broken since 2017 btw). Outside of converting to curves and breaking the line, which creates other issues, the only way I see to fix this is to modify the brush texture image so there are no gaps on the ends and making the endpoints so they can be tiled. The question is, how do I export a textured brush’s source image (like from the default brushes) so that I can modify the the texture so there’s no gaps - since it seems that in 3 years Serif hasn’t bothered to fix this. -
A few issues I have seen in this version and the previous: 1. Backspace doesn't backspace. It just returns to the previously used paragraph style. 2. Text seems to randomly resize itself. Example attached. When I finally resized the text on the left, the text on the right resized itself. Suggestions for improvements: 1. On the pages panel, maybe consider using the pages numbers of the book, and not the project, Eg : the document might say page11, but the book page numbering is only on page 5. 2. In the section manager, take away 'Section 1, Section 2,' etc. naming. It can be confusing when the book has chapters. 3. Please create an 'Indesign book' like workflow. It makes working on chapters MUCH easier.

Hi, I can't assign my hotkeys in Designer, I'm using the most current version 1.9.2.1035, the problem has been reported some times before in the forum since 2016. This is a problem that I only encounter on Designer, in the Windows version. Hope you can fix it since shortcuts are essential for professional workflow. In other subject, I would like to know if there's a way to know what is the currently brush selected. I've switch to other apps to paint because is easier to organize my brushes and actually know what is the brush that is being used since once you change the default it just keeps that configuration and would like to know what tipbrush I'm using and avoid losing the config in case I want to switch it for other one. Hi, I am working on an iMac running Big Sur version 11.3.1 with the Affinity Photo Desktop version 1.9.3 and am having a problem with Focus Merge. I ran a few different Focus Merges on RAW image files earlier today with no problems. Then I ran a focus merge of 35 raw images of 43MB each and this time I am getting a blur on the left side and bottom of the output composite. When I look at the source files (where the left side of the original image is in focus) the source images show a weird corruption of the left and bottom edges just where the composite is blurred. There is nothing wrong in the original RAW image files that I used to generate the Focus Merge so the problem is created during the Focus Merge process. I have tried this particular Focus Merge (quitting AF in between trials and selecting the same RAW images) now 3 different times with the same result. I will include 3 screen grabs to illustrate the issue: one of one of the original RAW images I used, opened in Affinity Photo to show that there is nothing wrong with the file - one of the output of the Focus Merge showing the composite with blurred edges - and the last revealing one of the source images with the strange corruption. I hope you can fix whatever bug caused this problem. Many thanks, Sandi PS - out of curiosity, once I had the Focus Merge output, I wanted to open one of the original image files in Affinity Photo in a second tab to see that that file was fine but once I did, clicking back on the tab where the Focus Merge output was, I lost access to the panel with the source images. I could not find out how to bring that window of the source images back.

First of, stating the obvious, everything was working right until the latest update on March 5th. Running an Acer 5 laptop. 16 gb of RAM, i7, 7th generation CPU, 1050ti GPU. Here's what my image is supposed to look like. Then I try to export it as any image file. JPEG, PNG, etc. I also tried with the Export persona. I tried by fusing all the visible layers into a single pixelated one. Regardless, it turns into this corrupted mess. And every time I do it, the corrupted bits are placed differently. I've tried a couple documents with the same background elements, still does it. I tried copying the layers into a new document, still does it. HOWEVER, I've opened the Photo file into Affinity Designer, and exported it from there, and there was no corruption at all. So at least I've got this temporary fix. Here's what my background layers look like. They have various layer effects and transparency, nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone experienced a similar bug? Have you fixed it? Is the Affinity team aware of its existence? Is it just me? 😂 Thanks in advance for the help, and I'll give any other details you guys may ask for.

Since one of the most recent updates there is a lot of unnecessary low-res rendering going on when Affinity Designer vector objects are copied. Earlier, some of these issues could be fixed by pasting into Preview and copying from there but now there is no fix other than exporting to a bitmap. Please fix soon, this is incredibly annoying.

Is there a reason that this happens at the end of a stroke when using the (Vector) Pencil Tool with tablet pressure in Designer? I often use the Pencil Tool because it's fully vector and super straight forward - no textures, clean look, and always has the option to expand strokes. But I've been noticing these weird ends where they should just be a round edge like the examples I made using the Pen Tool with pressure profiles (on the right). When I expand the strokes made with the Pencil Tool those weird edges actually expand too, leaving me with a bunch of messy stroke ends that are baked into the curve. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

I make some projects on Affinity Designer and worked very well. Now i can't save or export in any format and after try save or export i can't select any layer of the project like the archive is "corrupted" or something. When i try to export, the archive is not created and any massage of error show on screen. I tried to restart the PC and Reinstall the program but nothing seems to solve this problem...

I created a custom brush using New Brush from Selection. It's fine if i paint on a regular pixel layer but if I use it on a mask, it paints as a block with the shape inside, almost like it's been inverted. Steps I used to create the brush: Create a new pixel layer Create an outline with the freehand lasso Fill selection with black Brush Panel > New Brush from Selection (both with an active selection and without) Edited brush dynamics (also tried without editing) AP: 1.9.3 Mac:

hi all , can someone plz let me know why my healing tool is getting black every time??! if i hold some some time it will get darker and darker and when release it turns black ! also i set my brush to 100% hardness but still im getting soft/halo effect every time ! is it a BUG or ...? (mac air m1 chip, ios 11.2.3 affinity photo latest version) i did reinstall but same issue ... thank you

Locked pixel layer at the bottom of layer hierarchy is selectable by clicking or dragging. If it's not at the bottom, it's not selectable. -
Very odd bug... The first part you can see my mouse draw the wiggle... Then I try with my WACOM Intuos 5 Tablet... I've gone through the settings and tried to find anything... Turned off the two monitors etc... cannot figure it out... The tablet worked perfectly with Photoshop, and I tried it with other programs just now and they all work fine too... I'm trying to make a drop shadow for a rounded square In affinity designer on ipad when I toggle the Outer shadow in FX not much happens. It does get a tiiiiiny edge but there are no editing options . I though the options would show up in the bottom? but this is all I see

When exporting vector graphics to PNG and JPG from Affinity Designer, better anti-aliasing of the contours would be appropriate. The contours do not look as smooth as when exported from Adobe Illustrator. Zoom 100%. -
Windows 10 All updates installed Affinity photo version 1.9.2 Zenbook UX482 with latest drivers Affinity crashes while drawing with pencil tool. Happens often like three times in hour. Just simple sketching nothing more. If affinity dumps logs during crash please inform me where I will add them to post.
