  1. But that causes exported items at a modified size to honor be at set size. Steps to reproduce... Open Project in Affinity (.afdesign) Select Artboard (example size is 1072.1pt x 799.9pt) Go to file Export > PNG Edit the prefilled sizing to 3000 width (auto adjust height to keep ratio) Export Exported item is proper size in Get Info tab (Mac OS) but appears squashed.
  2. I have a very complicated layout that needs guides to work properly. Several times each day, the guides simply vanish entirely. It often happens when selecting a new layer from the layers tab. It may happen other times but we haven't been able to pin down the problem. Once it's happened, we can close and reopen the file and it keeps happening. Completely quitting from the app and restarting Affinity Photo often causes the problem to go away for a while. This is very, very, VERY disruptive to our workflow, as you can imagine. It happens on both my laptop and desktop, and it happens pretty consistently across multiple files. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way, as a workaround, to save and restore a set of guides?

  4. Hi! Running a 5k iMac and I see this label isn't where it should be. Fortunately, the checkbox it covers still works. It's a very minor issue. I tried finding this issue using the search tool but nothing came up. Hope I'm not clogging up the pipes :)
  5. Hi. When I am placing embedded document and duplicating it, every time, always there is a thin gap between it. No matter it was eps or designer file, it is always gap appears! Very terrible bug, fix it please in next version please. Something similar you have also in Photo app. PS: Illustrator makes all perfect, no any gaps.P PPS: And make zoom faster finally! Look how it works in Photoshop, with acceleration. It is torment when I need to slide with zoom tool 3, 5 or 10 times. In Photoshop I need always one!
  6. Hello Everyone, This is my first post and congrats with the solid software you guys are building. One of the reasons why I feel AD stronger than other Vector packages is the ability to stack colour correction layers on top on vector illustrations. The problem with it is that the behaviour/results you get from these are not usable in production purely because even with small adjustments the blending between the objects gets aliased. The issue is present on canvas and on export See image below the result where Brightness/Contrast and Shadows/Highlights layers are added to the group. How do we fix/workaround this? Thanks Phil
  7. Hi everybody! Amazing work with Designer! I am working as a graphic designer and I make extensive use of typography. Of all the wonderful tools Designer provides, seeing serious typographic options was a relief! (Still missing a glyphs panel though, which is really important I think, especially with dingbats or special characters drawn within the typeface). BUT, I may miss something, but to me is really weird to see an auto-hyphenation text box missing in such a complete piece of software, especially in english! Am I overlooking it? I would like also to let you know that sometimes ( i really can't get the ratio in this, it just seem to happen randomly) if you type a precise paragraph leading distance (let's say 1 pt) Designer reads it as line height numbers (so leading as 1 lines) instead of 1 pt, and sometimes even mixes both measurements, resulting in weird unprofessional spaced text or forcing you to use two different systems within the same document, which is really confusing. I don't know if that's intentional and I am missing how to use one of those or if at least one of the two systems can be deactivated. I attach two screenshot showing what i mean. One text uses 12 pt leading, the other writes 1 pt but is in all evidence 1 line height! I really hope you improve these simple text features (hyphenation, glyphs and fix leading) to have a really amazing program for professional use also outside of illustration! BTW the text rendering is FANTASTIC, to see such sharp and beautiful typography is worth the price alone! Hope to be of some help, keep it up!

    Buggy sliders

Do you experience buggy live filters sliders ? more specifically the blur and sharpen filters ? I keep doing a CTLR RESTART REBOOT to refresh the app on a regular basis but it doesn't look to me like it is really stabilizing it. Have also reinstaled from the app store on a regular basis but to no avail. When you do a reboot CTLR RESTART is it necessary to select everything or can you keep some personal preferences like studio? any other suggestion for the live filter sliders that do not stay in place and do not slide normally? any suggestion to stabilize the app? change preference performance settings??? working on a mac pro 6-core 64gb and AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB
  10. There is no way to turn off autoselect of layers. If you create an empty pixel layer and click anywhere on canvas the artboard gets selected instead of pixel layer. So its impossible to do anything with it.
  11. I have been trying to open my .PSD files but my text layers are been converted to Pixels and my Smart Objects (.psb) too. I tried to create a new PSD and make two types of text: paragraph and point, but twice are covnerted to Pixels and I can't edit. If have some configuration to do to import correct I missed that, altough if not is a bug. Untitled-1.psd
  12. Hello, I'm observing a very annoying bug in Affinity Designer's export persona. If I export an artboard that's one among many others, and that contains lines with variable pressure (e.g. an oval that gets thinner on one side) using a format that supports vector shapes (e.g. EPS or PDF), the lines in the exported file will not show the correct pressure profile. If I delete all but the one artboard and export again, all is exporting as expected with unchanged settings. Attached are two files showing the same artboard, once exported with other artboards surrounding it and once exported being the only artboard, no changes between the two exports except deleting the surrounding artboards. I can provide the responsible Affinity Designer file on request, but won't post it publicly since it contains a lot of contract work. 25RundungVsGerade_broken.eps 25RundungVsGerade_correct.eps
  13. Hi Affinity, I have really begun to investigate the potential of big panorama creations, so I have begun to shoot overlapping images both horizontal and vertical (also combinations of this). The first outcome from Affinity is usually very good, and I can't see the overlap og the images, but if I need to edit the maskinonge and placement of the images, Affinity Photo starts to eat up all RAM (16 GB), and after that it eats up my hard drive (30+ GB left on the device), until I get warnings of now more disk space, and soon after that I get the beach ball (that will never go away)… I have tried a 28 picture panorama (with probably a little too much overlap between images), and another bigger panorama, and when working in the editor for a while I end up crashing, and loosing all my work… Then there is the semi automatic fashion that the panorama editor works in, that I do not really get. If I manually change the mask of an image, Affinity Photo will recalculate another mask. Than I have to change my mask again, and after quite some trial and errors I might get it right. And unfortunately I don't get it right before the memory crash. Some of my panoramas had pictures rejected as part of them, by the automatic stitching, so it showed me two panoramas to select between, before entering the editor. It has not destroyed a panorama for me, but it was unfortunately an incorrect decision by the software. So I have some requests in the panorama function: - Let me save the state of the editor, so I can load it again and continue on the stitching later. - Let me have a fully manually state of the panorama stitching tool - Even better open the panorama as layers with masks in Affinity Photo - Let me manually select placement of pictures, that Affinity things is not fitting in - Fix the memory leak I have to add, that it looks so promising and good, that this panorama tool is the best I have ever seen and worked with. I have tried to use several others, but they take so long time to master. Affinity Photo panorama is really a great tool!
  14. I've found this bug for 3 months and solving is just manual fix the path after expanding or export by Illustrator then copy to AD in case of complex shape. Please try my attached file, it is just a simple rounded rectangle. Any straight lines with the rounded corner may be happened too. Cheers. :) Expand_Stroke.afdesign
  15. Hi guys, I am currently attempting to export a rather large, complexly layered SVG file and am having trouble tracking down the content which gets rastered during export. I have actually noticed that sometimes certain grouped elements can create this effect, and by ungrouping then regrouping them can solve the problem, which i guess this may be a bug? My destination for the content must contain zero raster elements. My question is is it possible to identify specific elements which need to be rastered in order to export to SVG successfully so that i can remedy these instead of toggling visibility on everything by process of elimination until i find it? Edit: I have isolated the suggested bug as mentioned above, and have attached a file demonstrating this. Export to SVG indicated elements will be rastered, but if ungrouped then regrouped no rastering occurs and can be exported as normal. group.afdesign
  16. Hi all, I just found a bug with nudging which exists in the latest versions of both Designer and Photo (v1.4.1). Steps to reproduce it: 1. create a new document 2. paint some squiggles with a pixel-based brush 3. marquee a rectangle region in the squiggles 4. duplicate the region with CMD-J 5. select the move tool 6. move the copied piece with the mouse near to where you want to put it 7. nudge the piece with the arrow keys At the last step, the copied piece jumps back to the position it was before you moved it with the mouse. Cheers, Jules
  17. Having an artboard for editiing, added guides to that editing stuff, but when I select an text item outside the artboard, the guides just disappear and they actually get deleted, automagically...
  18. Hi all, changing a keyboard shortcut will only take effect after one has left the Keyboard Shortcuts Preference Pane using the Preference Pane Selector drop down (either by selecting the preference panes overview or a specific preference pane). If you use the back button or just close the preferences window the new keyboard shortcut will be saved but it will not take effect! I discovered this behaviour while I changed some of the keyboard shortcuts, e.g. F1 will now create a new layer. I haven't tested other preferences nor if this behaviour can be replicated in Affinity Designer. My set-up: OS X 10.11.5 (15F34) Affinity Photo Trial 1.4.2 Cheers, geeknurse

    Export selected Issues

Hello. I love Affinity Designer and have parted ways with Illustrator, but Ive had huge issues with the export selected with no background. Here are a couple of issues we currently have: 1. Export seems to not be pixel perfect. A simple example is creating a 256px x 200px rectangle, with not border. Export selected, the result will be 257x200. (click on attachment 1 and compare the transform and the export panels). 2. Sometimes when I export selected the resulting image is bigger than the source ( it is not scaled but a white background is added) If you open the image in a photo editing program, you see that the size is not that of the selection but bugger with transparent space around. The workaround for me has been opening it in pixelmator, select all, copy, new doc (which takes the actual non transparent portion, paste, export. A very boring and long task, plus it requires me to use a competing software for something as simple as an export selected! IMO I think this is one of the very few bits that prevent Affinity Designer for from being great!
  20. Steps to reproduce: 1. Draw some objects 2. Select all objects 3. Rotate the objects in any way 4. Press Command+G or right click and "Group" in context menu Actual result: Selection box of grouped objects is wrong. Expected result: Right result we can see if we group the objects before rotating them.

    Expand stroke, gone wrong.

So I've used a variable width stroke to simulate a strand of hair. When I outline it, it all turns to custard. Before expand: After expand: Wonkers. Mac - El Capitan, MacBook Pro, Affinity Designer 1.4.1 :)
  22. Transform only shows one decimal place but it can have more, which means we can never trust its numbers. I’ve drawn two rectangles. They are identical in every way (size, position, stroke width) except stroke color. I’ll make my point with width, but it happens with every other field as well (X, Y, W, H). Let’s start by making red 7.98mm wide. Wait, it made it 8mm? That’s not what I wanted, but alright, I guess I can live with that. Lets make green 8mm wide, then. You can already start to see the beginning of the problem. red is in fact 7.98mm just like we asked, but Affinity Designer completely hides that from us. Imagine you’re working with shapes you drew earlier and you want to check how wide they are. That is impossible, as there is no way to know their real size. That alone makes Affinity Designer unsuitable for any kind of job that takes precision, but it gets worse. To make sense of this mess, lets at least try to make both rectangles the same size. Select them both, and set them to 7.8mm. You’ve got to be kidding me. So we can’t even resize them at the same time, and they’ll weirdly take their proportions which are invisible to the user into account? Lets try something stupid: just select the width field and press ↩ It worked, which in this case actually makes the case even more of a mess. This is a problem that has been going on ever since the first beta, way before Affinity Designer was first released on the Mac App Store. Although here I’ve only tackled Transform, Affinity Designer’s precision is absolute garbage in many more areas. Expand Stroke is another example of a feature that does not work even slightly well (makes way too many points), and Boolean Operations, though getting better (they were absolutely unusable for a long while, even after a few stable releases) are still lacking. Once more I’ll reinforce the notion that the Transform panel absolutely cannot be trusted for even the slightest needs of precision. Having one decimal point (and in some cases none, as when 7.98mm became 8mm) isn’t ideal, but it is inexcusable that a Pro app with such behaviour does not at least give the user a hint that a value is not what it really says. At the very least there must be some indication that a value isn’t exactly what is shown. It does not matter what, but something.
  23. Hi, Affinity Designer for Mac crashes here on Yosemite (10.10.1) when I try to apply 'Old Standard' (freshly loaded from Google Fonts) typeface in italic. http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Old+Standard+TT Regular and bold work fine, though the Font Book Application seems to see a problem with those two but not with the italic one. That problem doesn't occur in TextEdit ... so the font should be more or less fine ... !? cheers, Steffen
  24. Hello, I seem to be getting an error. "The file appears to be corrupted"!! I've noticed this error on the forms before and that the people were asked to email support@seriflabs.com. Is this still the right thing to do? This is a real let down as I have a deadline to meet tomorrow! :'( I hope you can help!
  25. Hi, I am trying to reopen a file that is located on Apple iCloud drive. I also copied the file to Desktop but the same error occurs. The error is below, same one for either the iCloud or Desktop version: I am sure it is a bug since I have worked on it for at least one month without any issue. It contains a ongoing project work, I need help in recovering it. IT has about 180MB and it can't be uploaded here due to the single file size of 20MB. Thank you Alexandru
