Windows 10 All updates installed Affinity photo version 1.9.2 Zenbook UX482 with latest drivers Affinity crashes while drawing with pencil tool. Happens often like three times in hour. Just simple sketching nothing more. If affinity dumps logs during crash please inform me where I will add them to post.

I have a document (attached) which is a simple (but random) collection of small rectangles with total of 4 grays. Using the fill bucket (6%, not contiguous) it will never complete (or at least nothing for several minutes before force quitting). I have filled far more complex and larger images with widely spread out areas of same color without issue. This image does not work. Your fill algorithm is clearly suffering from degenerate edge cases. I tried several cases (1) starting from 75x75 image I resized to 6000x6000 with nearest neighbor (2) saved that image first and restarted the app. Both cases repeatedly result in the same behavior. I also used the original 75x75 image which supports fills without issue. The report based on the first instance of killing the app was sent to Apple so you should be able to see it. Also selection (Magic Wand) has the same issue - endless beachball. If I start from the source image, a 4500x4500 noise image of rectangles from which the 75x75 image was taken, fill works correctly and instantly. Hi. Something strange happens to me with affinity photo, which doesn't happen to me in any other artistic program, or not. The problem is that the background, flickers or changes color, becoming a little darker or lighter with certain actions (it is possible that even the canvas does, but where it really shows is in the background), I would say that what does is darken for half a second and then regain normal lighting.It happens in two ways. The first is done randomly when I press the alt, control, or shift modifier keys. The other, always happens in the same way, and it is curious because it does so depending on the tool you have selected. It occurs in two cases when it does. The first, when you move the cursor from the canvas to the background or from the background to the canvas. This only happens with the following selected tools: brush tool, mix brush tool, rubber tool, overexposure brush, all blur tools, except the finger tool. The second case occurs when you go from the background to the toolbar but not when you go to the canvas. This occurs with the following tools. Gradient tool, pen tool, geometric shapes tool and text tool. The color variation is not much, I did not notice it on my external monitor, until I changed the configuration to one with high light (presentation on my Benq monitor), but with this configuration it is very remarkable. I also could not make a video for a curious reason. As soon as I open OBS studio (my recording program), this flickering stops happening. I don't even have to record, just by opening the program this problem stops happening. In this designer forum they talk about something that seems similar . I have verified that changing to WARP as it is said there the problem stops happening, but unfortunately the brushes become unusable due to their slowness, since Intel UHD 620 is the option that my card should use. My computer. HP Notebook, 16g ram, I7, Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics card. I use windows 10. Hope this problem can be solved. Thank you very much for your attention and greetings.- 9 replies

If you use a layer with an object that has transparent pixels on the layer, like copied areas, then add a layer effect (fx) like gaussian blur, or another one, and then blend range do not work. If you reduce the layer effect to 0 % then the Blend range is active. When you change to only 1% the lend range is deactivated. Regrads erdi12

Hi, I have Affinity 1.9.7 running on iPad Pro 9.7” and the top left menus (arrow back, document and ...) are very unresponsive to touch. I have to press many times to be able to open them. Is this known? Any solution? thank you

If you have more than one layer and make a selection with a section tool select a layer copy (STRG+C) and Paste it (STRG+V) the complete layer will be copied. The expected behavior is that only the selected pixels will be copied on a new layer. If you use copy Flattened ist works as expected. Regards erdi12 -
I found a bug in the latest beta 1.9.2.xxx and last release version in Affinity photo, depending on hardware acceleration. If hardware acceleration is on, notebook with Intel HD Graphics 520 on chip is on, then the gaussian blur filter change the image completely to white with adjusted radius greater than 10px. That happens also with the filter frequency separation. With hardware acceleration of the fiters works well with high adjustments. On my desktop computer with a G-Force 950 this bug is not present. After making adjustments using levels or curves strange artifacts appear as lines on random parts of the image. I have tried this on various different images and the same problem occurs. The problem occurs after merging adjustments. Below I show a sample of what is happening. I have circled the artifacts in red. This is incredibly annoying and makes the software virtually unusable. I am using windows 10 and latest version of Affinity.

Hello. I have been creating sermon slides for my father for the several years using artboards. In the last several week, a file I have used for a year has started to crash every 15 to 20 secs (I counted). I can also can trigger it by trying to save or export. I will upload the file as well as give the crash logs. I would appreciate any help I can get. I have tried to open it in Publisher and Photo with the same result. When grouping objects and converting them into an Asset, the text of a text box is shrunk when the Asset is placed on a new page. Furthermore it is not possible to place the Asset in the document from which it came. The Asset vanishes from the cursor when dragging the Asset from the Asset panel to the canvas. Hey, I want to create a halftone version of an image. Seems only way to do this is by using Live Halftone filter? I am no expert, but I think it is safe to say that the halftone filter is not working as expected. Comments on the images themselves as well. This is a close-up of a detail in the picture, with no pixel view mode selected. Clearly, the white is entirely white - there are no real half toning going on here that is worth conserving in the exported image. Zooming a bit out, the halftone fill for the white remains the same size as in the first image; now a bit more visible. Enabling pixel view mode, the white is filled - as if it is gray. This is how the PNG export looks like. Which of course is completely useless. And white is there a completely white halo around the desired halftone pattern? Again with pixel view mode disabled, the white even is no clearly no longer white - despite the first image showing no such contrast. Same image with pixel view mode enabled, clearly making the issue even worse. I have no idea how to work around this, or how to "bake" the halftone at a certain zoom level - if that is possible? I need to fix this, as what I have tried so far results in rasterised exports (PNG, JPG, etc) that are completely useless to me. Am I doing this all wrong? Thanks, Johan

Hello, First, I want to warn that English is not my main language, so sorry if I don't express myself well. Since the arrival of version 1.9, I have a rather annoying bug with the vectorization of outlines (see photos attached). I didn't have this problem on version 1.8.5. I use this tool a lot so for the moment I have to work with the old version but I can no longer open my projects created with version 1.9.x. I have tried on several other PCs / Macs and the problem is the same. The bug only concerns versions since 1.9. Do you have a solution to this problem? Will it be fixing soon? Regards, Ant0ine

why, after touching the object there is a purple line like the outline can't disappear? Wait.. If I enter a percentage scaling for with or high the input in the batch dialogue it would be ignored, no rescaling happened. If this feature ist not possible, i expect a feadback and not only a "done" after pressing OK.

Hey Fellows! Sometimes I try to open the brush edit panel but Affinity crashes immediately without a warning. I don't know if this is because I have too much brushes or could be something else.

Photo 1.9.1.979 CONTEXT Batch job attaching ICC profile to a folder full of TIFFs. Macro selected to assign ICC without conversion. Files overwritten in place (they were backed up safely before commencing). ADDITIONAL CONTEXT TIFF files have been tagged in Windows File Explorer, including: Title Subject Rating Tags Authors Date Taken Copyright Fields contain multilingual Unicode content (mostly Japanese and English, plus others). Hierarchical tags in "Tags" field has many tags of this type... category/subcategory/tag; 1000+ characters in the Tags field would not be uncommon, as there are many tags and some tags are quite long. PROBLEM After attaching the ICC profile, the metadata for the TIFF files has been corrupted. 1. Subject field content is missing and filled with random Chinese characters. 2. Tags field content is significantly truncated, there seems to be a character limit (about 800 characters) which is significantly shorter than that of File Explorer. UPDATE Have now determined that this is nothing to do with batch files, but saving files in general. Just opening a single TIFF file and clicking Save is enough to reproduce the problem.

I'm not sure if this is XP-Pen's new driver or Affinity's new update, but I thought I'd mention it here. The 'tilt' brush modifier function does not seem to work in Affinity on my side (even though my tablet definitely supports pen tilt). I've tried it with numerous default and custom Affinity brushes with 'tilt' as a modifier, and the tilting of the pen does not seem to be making any impact on the strokes.

Hi, I've got a reproducible bug. Seems to be related to typing an " mark with Shift+2 at the beginning of a paragraph, possibly when next to an image anchor tag. Happens on new documents too, if you create a few paragraphs and drop in an image. Amiright? C Video here:

An oddly specific bug I just discovered in Photo - unsure of whether this shows up in Designer too. While sketching out an ornate frame design, I used the symmetry tool with a brush, and everything proceeded as usual. I then used Shift to create a straight line and noticed that the stroke automatically coloured certain parts red - screenshot attached. I tried a few different brushes and ended up with the same result (as you can see), but only when using my tablet pen/stylus - this didn't happen when clicking with the mouse and holding Shift. The layers I worked on didn't have any FX applied, and red was not a colour I had selected (my foreground and background colours were black and white). I've done a quick screen recording for reference: https://youtu.be/blPZMQsAhNQ It's not embedded as a glitch into the document/file though, as I can easily use a "Colour Overlay" effect to change it back to black.

Hey so i’ve been using Affinity Designer on my Ipad pro (2018) for a long time now. Never had any problems until two days ago when the new update came out. Whatever i try to do, whichever file i open the app crashes after a few seconds rendering it completely unusable... As i do two design jobs using mostly AD, this is a huge problem now. Any tips on how i could solve this would be greatly appreciated. Before you ask, yes i tried resetting the ipad, it didn’t help, the problem seems to be with the new update... -
Hey ! Ive got a huge problem.. If I understood well after some research, my project should be saved under a file named Affinity Photo or designer (depending on the app used) in My iPad or iCloud depending on settings.. But here is my issue : CANT FIND ANY OF THOSE ! It drive me crazy haha.. folder are shown when I search for them on FOLDER app but there is nothing I saved in it, plus as soon as I deselect the file, it disappears.. It doesn't exist where it should be ! Please help me on this one Thanks Replay_bug.MP4

Good Afternoon, I've recently been trying to use Affinity Designer after the 1.9 update but came across some kind of bug. When in the Designer Persona, all brush models are clearly seen and can be used. When transferring to the Pixel Persona on the other hand, all brushes turn invisible and cannot be used. I have tried using the "Clear User Data" dialog by holding 'Ctrl' but it still has not solved my issue. Here are photos to help anyone out.
