  1. As brilliant features tend to extend, I am increasingly worrying about some ordering of menu list items. Right now, they are just added to the end of the list when imported. For instance, the items shown in attached screen prints could benefit from some sorting (at least for me). Something automagically alphabetic would already work better for me, but ideally, I´d just like to drag them where I´d like them to be, so a manual way of doing it would serve me quite well. As an example, if you look at the long list for the pixel brushes for instance, I´d love to be able to drag all DAUB brushes to where I´d like them to be, all together close to the top but below the default ones coming with the product. Not only cosmetic AFAIC, it´s also that I just use some more than others. Thank you for reading!
  2. Hello, I'm a freelance concept artist, matte-painter and illustrator and have been living with an orphaned copy of Photoshop CS5 that I purchased many years ago. As my business depends heavily upon this software and I do not, under any circumstances wish to migrate to Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription service (a preference to purchase and own outright, the fact that a subscription model is costlier over time and Adobe's monopolistic price gouging practices) I've been seeking an alternative. Affinity Photo may just be that replacement which I can run concurrently with CS5 and over time, replace it altogether. Also, the market is in desperate need of comparable and competitive alternatives to Adobe's suite. I'm very impressed with what I've experienced thus far after downloading the trial and with a new computer system (Win 10 Pro) arriving next week I intend to purchase it and most likely Designer. There are a few things that I would like to see that would help with workflow tremendously. Bear with me as I'm still coming to grips with Affinity Photo. I would like to see it possible for the palettes to be collapsible into docked icons as is possible with Photoshop. I would like to see the right mouse button have contextual functionality depending on the tool selected - for example, the possibility to 'Deselect' or Invert Selection' et al when you right click on a selection. it feels constraining and retards workflow not be have a contextual right mouse button option I would like to see it possible to make the horizontal toolbar more customisable - adding a drop-down brush editing palette for example. That's about it for now. However, i will be purchasing and joining the Affinity family. Thanks for creating such a quality product that is getting very close to rivalling Photoshop, and for offering it at such as competitive price. .Grant
  3. I set up a new page to create a set of painting brushes. Used the New document, set to transparency and started to create a few brushes. Saved them as PNG files. When I installed them I imported them as "New intensity Brush". I set up a new document, went to new layer and selected the first new brush. Set color value and I noticed the more times I clicked on the brush the lighter the color became, but color intensity did not change on color wheel. Any idea why, all my other brushes that I didn't create do not do that.
  4. Is there a way to create a custom brush that mimics the symbol brush in Illustrator? For instance, if I wanted to create rows of lines, is there a way to easily brush these pre-created lines as a texture?
  5. Can we get the ability to make our list of Brush Categories in Affinity Photo sort alphabetically? It would also be nice to have sub-categories or tags to better organize our libraries.
  6. With the amount of awesome brushes being created for the community, it is becoming clear that the need to organize and separate out favourite brushes is the logical next step. Not sure how best to do this, and maybe just concentrating on the brushes panel for now, as opposed to an "app wide" solution might be the way to go. A simple "save as favourite" system would be a good start, eventually with the ability to move, group and reorganize in one panel or even multiple panels or panel sub structure for various workflows - texturing, blocking, detailing, dots etc....?
  7. I recently downloaded an .abr brush pack created by Andrea Koroveshi (http://andikoroveshi.blogspot.al/). However, I do not use PS (I don't want to sell my soul when there are good, and potentially better options, such as Affinity Photo & Designer). Based on my limited understanding, PS brushes imported into AP do not fully transfer textures. Rather, you only get the brush "tip" or "nozzle." I was curious as to whether anyone has a work-around for this issue. I have pretty much all the AP & AD brushes created by Paolo Limoncelli (which are excellent, btw), but I really want to make use of the many wonderful brushes available from other sources (such as Andrea Koroveshi & Kyle's Brushes). I've discovered that the PS brushes I import act more like "stamps" as opposed to brushes. While I'm sure tinkering with the settings will help- I'm not sure where to really begin, so any advice I can get would be great. Thanks!
  8. I'm trying to import my daub brushes into Affinity but out of the Daub collection none of them are showing up apart from the Daub Inkers set. Annoyingly, when I try to import the brushes it says that it has done so successfully, even adding a number every time I retry e.g. "Daub Pastello 2/3" etc but they're still not visible in my brush collection...so now I also have to delete the duplicates after I've found them wherever they are! Does anyone know how I can find these brushes/fix this error? Thanks
  9. Can you please make Rotation jitter a full 360 degrees instead of like 270 or whatever the max is set to?
  10. I would very much like to see a Texture "Pane" Option in Affinity Designer (and Photo): In addition to being able to paint with texture brushes (in vector or pixel), or simply import a pixel layer with texture, I would love to be able to save and use an entire Texture "Pane" (as in window "pane") Option from a panel of options like the brush window offers. I would like to have the ABILITY TO MAKE A TEXTURE "PANE" TRANSPARENT (or translucent; either vector or pixel) IN ADDITION TO BLACK, WHITE, AND COLOR and be able to choose whether it will cut through all layers, or only a selection of layers. (I have searched and not found any method for doing this.) (I'm a newbie when it comes to the technical jargon, hopefully you get the idea. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd love your direction!) Thanks, H
  11. I would like to see the brush identified somewhere. On the current Mac version, if I use a brush, then another tool like the lasso, and come back to the brush tool, the highlighting showing the current brush is gone. (It's not supposed to do that, it's broken) Even if it were fixed, it's not enough. Highlighting is good, but a better method would be to show the category and brush name (plus the highlight). For instance, a box could show a breadcrumb trail similar to how it is done on some web sites and file systems. Then if I go to another category I would still know which category and brush is active. I could get back to it. Otherwise, I'm lost. (Especially, when the highlight disappears.) Having to mouse over the brushes to get the name is also cumbersome. I have to mouse over all the them looking for one I might remember I liked. We should be able to see the brush names displayed in the panel without having to mouse over them. Apple is really doing us a disservice by hiding the user interface so much and making us have to go hunting to find invisible features. In the name of reducing clutter they encourage hiding useful interface options. Dumb.
  12. Hi, I am beginning to think that Affinity is too complex for my level. I do not know what has gone wrong, but I cannot make the Inpainting, Healing brushes etc.,work. I have watch the tutorials, which are brilliant and read the help guidelines, but no matter what I do the brush is not painting visibly over the area to be removed. There are so many features that I wonder whether I have clicked on something that is causing my problem. I have used the pinpointing brush before, but with limited success, however it was significantly more than I have achieved today, which is zilch! I have looked at the tutorial carefully and I notice that some icons towards the top right hand of the screen, seem to be 'greyed' out, whereas they are not in the tutorial. Also, on the right hand side, above the list of layers, the tutorial as a white dot for Opacity but mine is gray. Can someone point me in the right direction, as there is something fundamentally wrong, with what I am doing today. As requested I have tried to upload some of what was on my screen. Also the pinpointing brush was only used on the base layer (I think).
  13. After importing new sets of brushes, the application does not show them in alphabetical order, causing much annoyance to user.
  14. I am delighted with the recent new Daub Pigmento brushes which I purchased as an add-on. I am a Corel Painter user for complex stuff, but need to doo more within Painter/Designer and these brushes were an instant hit with me for a couple of things which I achieved very quickly. I attach a couple of pics - both completely done in Affinity Painter. The background for the dog used the brushes (plus I used the lens blur in photo on the background). And then a sky for some collage work I am doing.
  15. Could you give us a way to keep all the brushes in their respective categories, and to put the most used brushes in a Favorites category. If I am using frequently a specific brush from a specific artist, I would like to remember the category it comes from. If I just put the brush in a custom category, it disappears from its original one. The only way I have to do this is to duplicate a brush and put it in a custom category, but it would be easier to just right-click it and put it in a special Favorites Category without duplicating it. Ideally, there should also be an indication of the original category the brush belongs to in an Info button next to the brush, in its Help Tip, or in its Edit pane (with an option to lock the original and duplicate it if we edit it).
  16. Hi, Before I switched to Affinity Photo I used Photoshop CC. In the brushes tool of CC there were render brushes with things like grass, trees etc. Are these available, or will they be made available as a plugin for AP?
  17. Hey guys! Just wanted to share a little character I made for fun with Designer using some of my texture brushes. Any comment will be more than welcome as always! Cheers!

  19. After researching into the cost of upgrading my adobe suite I realised there pricing polacy was extreamly unfair and over priced in the UK.. ..since then i have had the pleasure to use alternatives such as Krita and the AMAZING Affinity Designer. I have never shared my brushes before mainly because they make me money, but as a backlash to adobe's ridiculous pricing I've changed my attitude. It's the artist that creates the art not the software! I'll upload the actual brushes as soon as i figure out how to upload the .afbrushes file.
  20. Is there a way to import or convert Sketchbook Pro brushes for use in Affinity Designer or Photo?
  21. Hi, I use both Affinity products on windows 10 Pro platform. Is there a limit to the number of Brushes or the number of Styles I can add to these programs? I am interested in making sets of both for other users and wondered if too many will crash programs or slow them down too much. I have 16Gig RAM,SSD RAM 1Ggi Graphics card 8 x CPU@3.5 mgh. Thank you~!
  22. Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I've been working on a secret project the past couple of months. It's a website dedicated to offer post-production tools for Affinity Photo, mainly for photo retouchers: color presets, retouch brushes, texture overlays, etc. Also, I've been working on a photo retouch eBook with complementary videos for AP, which probably will be released there when finished... The site it's finally in pre-release, that means that I'm still working to finish the first assets, but today you can have a (small, small) taste (almost a little bite) of what of what you can expect out of it. It's a FREE Pack called: FAUX 77 A collection of 8 Macros for AP that emulates the vintage looks of the pictures from the late seventies. You can look at some examples and more details in the link below :) As with Frankentoon, you just have to give your email, and the download link will be sent to your inbox. You can unsubscribe later if you wish. But if you are interested in the project and want to know more about future releases and free sample packs you can stay :) This website will be growing as I'm adding content through the next weeks. I would like to know what you think and which kind of tools for AP you'd like to find there. Cheers! Enrique
  23. Hi there, Just trying to get around how to modify the brushes and apply them to vector lines... does any body know how to get the size and opacity variance to work? Ta.
  24. Hello guys! This is Jixie Bubblegum, a quick character I made last night using Designer and my Texturizer Pro brushes. Hope you dig!
