  1. I was very interested in this: http://tinyurl.com/ybd2jhgp But I wasn't sure it would work in Affinity Designer so I wrote to the creator and this is the answer I got: Unfortunately, I haven't converted this one to Affinity as it's pattern brush feature isn't accurate enough to make the brushes as good as I’d like. If they improve it in the future I'll definitely make an Affinity version. So is this something that is being worked on? Or is there something like these brushes out there that do work with Affinity Designer? Sig
  2. Hello all, I did this halloween graphic to practice working with affinity. I am getting the hang of using a masking layer and creating effects with brushes
  3. This has been mentioned numerous times elsewhere in the forums (see link) but I couldn't find it here in the bug list. When using any brush tool, Photo initially highlights the brush in use in blue (under the brushes drop-down menu) but as soon as you do anything other than paint with it (even just change the size using [ and ] ), this highlight disappears. Many people have made suggestions for a fix here: Personally I think that including brush identification in History might be helpful; sometimes I do some brushwork, then make other edits, then wish to come back and continue that brushwork but currently I have to write down the brush number on a piece of paper to ensure I can select the one I previously used. Thank you.
  4. Hi Everyone, i prepared some brushes for Architects, to ease their workflow in constructing floorplans. For example special Trees as Brush tips.. and so on. Now, we´ve got about 120 Seats in Affinity Photo at the moment, and it would be nice if our admins could distribute those preconstruced Brushes all over the network, by using our matrix sofware depot. so where inside the programm do new brushes get installed, and where are there new entrys in any inis, we would have to distribute ? thanks a lot.. Tom
  5. Hi , i just configured several Brushes for an Architectural Company , containing or example trees for brushtips and so on.. We´ve got about 120 affinity seats here at the moment. Can i instlall all those new configured brushes over the network , where would we have to copy them , what ini´s would have to be changed for this and how... ? any workflows for this available ? greetings and thanks from Hamburg.. Tom
  6. Hello guys! First of all. Nice job on the latest Beta! Love how things are coming out with every release. However, there's a problem regarding Pixel brushes, which is happening since the first release of Designer and doesn't appear in the roadmap yet. It's this 'polygon-like' strokes when drawing with Pixel Brushes (attachment). Would be nice to have this fixed, since in my opinion, ruins a little bit the whole sketching experience. Thanks guys and keep up the amazing work you're doing! Cheers, Enrique
  7. Hey guys, I just started playing with Affinity. I played around with drawing in it but I seem to be getting some jitter lines. Hopefully you can see it If compared to Krita I am using a Cintiq 13hd.
  8. I'm trying to create a hand drawn circled effect...like if you see something you like on paper and want to highlight it. this works great if you use a brush to outline an ellipse but the problem is I'd like the ends to touch...better yet if they could cross paths. How can I create this? Also, for when I want to leave a gap, how can I change the point when the brush starts and ends? e.g if I want the gap to be on the bottom or the left?
  9. Added to the Paint Brushes with a new set of texture painting brushes 30 brushes from set 1 30 brushes from set 2 2 Zip files contains 60 brushes (3 pack x 10) x2 PDF sample files added PBT 1 Set 1 01-03.pdf PBT 1 P01-P03.zip PBT 1 Set 1 13-15.pdf PBT 02 P13-P15.zip
  10. It would be great to occasionally do some inpainting or blemish removal of an image I have in Designer. Yes I do know that I have a full set of tools in Photo, but sometimes I just need to make a slight correction and it doesn't warrant this round trip.
  11. I have recently got affinity photo for iPad and am having a variety of issues. I use a Sony a7ii and can't load raw files. Dodge and burn refuses to work for me. I have iPad Pro 10.5. Other things are problematic at times. please advise..
  12. These brushes have been updated into new and more comprehensive sets New versions are located here: Dots Hatching Old versions: 02 Texture Brush Pack.zip Texture Brush Pack 02_visual.afdesign
  13. hey, i am new with affinity. I worked with PS before. And so i wondered if there is a function which i can add different brushes into affinity with. Something like an explosion brush. or something like that. All i can find are the shapes preinstalled by affinity. (21) So my questions would be like: If you can add some cool brushes like PS? If you can make your own and safe them somehow? Or you need to create one every single time if you need them. thank you for your help in advance.
  14. Did any of you found the right recipe to simulate sketching pencils 2B and up? I'm 100% familiar with the brush options yet to get it right, and I like to sketch my scenes before going full blown vector. Any tips?
  15. Hello there! I want to share with all this nice community the latest Frankentoon's Franken-Pack: Pattern Painter. Pattern Painter is a cool collection of raster/pixel brushes that can be used either on Designer or Photo... and even cooler, you can use 'em on Photo for iPad :) I've always liked the idea of painting with patterns, even with software that allows to use pattern fills. I don't know, but I love the experimental and 'crafty' feel that is the joy of brushing in seamless shapes on your canvas. You can combine them, change colors on the fly, layer 'em up for some cool effects... If you want to know more, click HERE to get more info... (I've created a super fancy and colorful info page for you guys :D ) Hope you all like this pack!
  16. I would like to make a collections of brushes? I have quite a few in PSD. How can I make new ones in AP? How can I use my PSD brushes in AP?
  17. Hi I make vector brushes for Illustrator and am thinking of branching out to make some for Affinity Designer. I followed a video tutorial on how to make Affinity brushes and it seems to be that they have to made from PNG file source material. I'm a little confused by this as a PNG does not contain vectors. Does Affinity Designer somehow convert them to vectors or am I missing something/doing something wrong? Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks, Jeremy
  18. Hi guys, first of all this software is great! It's the closest thing to Photoshop on an iPad. As someone who uses Photoshop daily as an illustrator. I noticed some stuff that can be improved and a few bugs I've run into. SUGGESTED FEATURES: Remember last used brush category. Ability to drag and rearrange brushes. Accumulation and Opacity are confusing terms. At the dock below, it says Opacity but when editing a brush setting it says Accumulation which you would think is the same as Flow. Maybe it should be replaced to something like Opacity Accumulation or just Opacity. More brush texture blend options. Faster Eyedropper switching method. There are only 2 methods to use the eye dropper now, one is the finger hold gesture and the other one is using the eyedropper button + pressing on the newly acquired color in the Colour studio. Both are very inefficient. Basically just copy how Procreate eyedrops colors with one a button to hold while instantly changing the loaded color of the brush. The triangle shape inside the colour wheel shouldn't rotate. It only confuses you where the whites or blacks are. A layer should always be selected so assistant doesn't need to constantly add unnecessary layers. Ability to create clipping masks BUGS Importing some abr files results in the texture getting tiled three times horizontally with a huge white empty gap below resulting in gaps in the texture when painting. The only fix would be to reapply a new texture file. There's a bug when setting the associated tool with a brush. If you use a brush set to paint then switch to a brush set to eraser for example, it will not change the nozzle and other settings but only change the tool type. Double tapping it will suddenly load the rest of the eraser brushes settings. I'll try to add more to this forum if I find more but so far those are my findings. Thanks for reading!
  19. I'm fairly new to Affinity Photo (I've been playing with it for little over a week) and I gotta say, it is probably the best impulse buy I ever made on the AppStore and I expect to be using this app for a long time. I came in from Procreate, so I wanted to recreate my favorite brushes. I saved the brush shape and texture and created a new brush in Affinity with them. I test the brush out and I noticed that the color of the brush is not affected by the color I choose in the color picker but instead it's always the color of the brush image I use. Is there a setting I'm missing that will make image brushes be affected by the color picker, or is the image brush meant to be like a stamp and can't be affected by color? If it's the latter, how do I make a brush similar to the ones in the "Painting" category?
  20. This is a great App and I just wanted to help out with a small observation. I'm a digital artist and I use a Wacom tablet for drawing digitally. I noticed (running on an iMac) that there is a small, roughly 0.2 second delay on the time between the wacom pen stroke pressure and the application of pixels in all the brushes. Basically, when you draw, the line is appearing late. It makes it very hard to sketch anything in detail. I have the brush width settings very low, in order to mimic a real pencil width. I love the paint blend tool, a great feature, and 'paint select' is excellent, a great idea. My best, Ed
  21. Hello there! I'm currently working on some brushes for a concept art project and I'm trying to create a 'sequenced' brush. Let me explain: I need a brush for drawing background trees, I've isolated like 4-6 trees to have some variation. I'm loading that images as brush nozzles, but they appear in random order (image below). It's something like: X X O X O X X X O X O X I NEED total control of this sequence, specially for more complex brushes I'm designing (6-8 nozzles). I mean, a straight sequence like this: X O X O X O X O X O X O Would be awesome to have the option for "Random" and "Linear (or something)" brush sequence. Would give MUCH MORE power to this multi-nozzle + texture brush engine :) Hope this makes sense.
  22. Can't figure out how to delete this post, if mods could remove that would be great There was a free watercolor wash brush here but there was basically zero interest.
  23. Would like to see ANGLE jitter and ROUNDNESS jitter added to the brush engine. It would make photoshop brushes import identically.
  24. Would like to set minimum and maximum values in brush settings. Ex. a brush that can be set at 100px min and only increase to 150 px max.
  25. Hi! I've been playing with the trial version of Affinity Designer for a while and I must say I'm loving it! However, when testing all the tools I normally use in Illustrator, there's three features that I often use but can't seem to find in Designer... 1. Pattern creation - In Illustrator, I can make any vectorial shape I make or image I embed into a pattern. It's as easy as dragging the shape/image to the Swatches panel, and voila. How is this done in Affinity Designer? 2. Gradient brush - Likewise, in Illustrator I can turn a rectangle containing a gradient into a brush. This is very useful to create graphic elements like tubes, pipes, and shapes with that appearance. Is this possible with Affinity Designer? 3. Live Paint Bucket - Does Designer have a similar tool? I'd love to know if these features are available in Designer, as I really want to switch to Serif and finally ditch Adobe's subscription! <_< Thanks :)
