  1. Hi everyone! So I updated the Affinity Photo app on my iPad Pro to version 1.7.2 recently. While I was in the middle of editing a photo, I wanted to import a brush I normally use in Photoshop. I went and did the whole process of clicking “import brushes” in the brush menu and so forth through my dropbox. Dropbox went ahead and downloaded the file and it switched back over to the app and I assumed the import was successful. However, when I looked through the brushes, the import wasn’t there. I tried multiple times and checked to make sure that “.abr” was in the file name, but, nothing worked. After much frustration, I decided to reinstall the app. After installing, I tried importing my old brushes I used to have on the app and it didn’t work at all. Now I can’t import ANY of my brushes. Would someone know if they will fix this bug soon? Or if there is a way to revert to an older version of the app? :( Thank you very much. Elaine
  2. HI Guys, Do you guys know where can I download some brushes for Affinity Designer for free please?
  3. Hi there, I've been trying to import Photoshop .abr brush sets, into Affinity Photo for iPad, so far without success. I'm using an iPad Pro, latest vs. I've tried importing from the following locations: icloud Google Drive Dropbox All files are greyed out and not selectable. I can confirm I don't have Adobe Sketch installed, which I read in earlier posts was causing issues with importing brushes. Any suggestions would be appreciated! PS. It's a very impressive program, great job!
  4. Hi, Here’s two small things that could improve Designer’s Brushes Palette. But first, thank you so much for your wonderful collection of paint brushes, they are great! I added the DAUB collection and I have so many now that I easily get lost. I want to try each brush individually to see how it paints. Then, when I find the right one, I don’t remember which one it was that I picked; so I need to try a few brushes again and when I find it back, to carefully take its name down. It would be great if the palette could highlight the selected brush somehow. Currently, when you select a brush, there’s nothing to remind you which one it is. The brush preview helps, but in the end they all kind of look the same. The next day, I start a new session and I want to use the same brush. I know its name now, but it’s like searching a needle in a haystack, going down the list and waiting for the tool tips to appear. It would definitely help if the user could choose to display the Brushes Palette list by name. If there’s a way, I didn’t see it. That’s it! Thanks again for this great software. Simon
  5. Hi everyone, I just created a tutorial that was requested by several people who bought my 180 Smoke and Cloud Brushes from the Affinity store. In the following tutorial you learn how you can use the smoke brushes to create a fire effect on regular images. Hope you enjoy it! :-) https://www.xresch.com/tutorial-fire-effect-on-images-876/
  6. Existing brushes are working, but import brushes gives a fail error in version 464.
  7. Dear Friends, The actual reproduction of this design is not important, it more 'how to' tackle something I first thought was very easy but still can not find a good way to reproduce. Basically I can see 4 vector wavy lines each with a gradient falling away on one side that is consistent whether the line is rising or falling. Interaction between the lines can be taken care of by overlays or whatever, its really the process forming a line by either using gradients that follow the line or create a brush that will do the job. The concept can then be used on backgrounds, letterheads etc This is probably something I will kick myself about but at present I am baffled. Thanks for all your help, Graham
  8. Tested leatest 445 version, fast loading great, only by use some big brushes a got a lag when edit. But its working for me. Windows 10 home - i5 4e generation - 28 GB Ddr3 - Nvidia 1050Ti 4gb So go for it Team!
  9. When using a raster brush that has 'wet edges' enabled, it often automatically disables the wet edges when you switch to another tool (like the eraser) and then back to the brush again. It's not a big issue, but it would be really great if the brushes retained the wet edges setting to save the hassle of manually checking it again after using another tool. For some reason this doesn't always happen, but I thought it might be worth mentioning as a lot of the more 'intricate' custom brushes use wet edges for textures and effects. Similarly, and I appologise as I've mentioned this before, it would be awesome to have a dissolve blend mode for brushes and layers as it's incredibly useful for creating gritty textures and bitmap effects - it's also especially useful for setting work up for screen printing as the dissolve blend mode removes all anti-aliasing. I know there are workarounds for this, but the dissolve blend mode is a small addition to the blend modes list that would completely remove the need to spend time finding different ways of achieving a similar effect. I've seen it mentioned a few times in the forums, so hopefully it will be considered.
  10. A lot of users, myself included, often create custom brushes and assets to use with Affinity Apps. With the release of Affinity Publisher (especially with StudioLink) I find it quite tedious to install the newly created brushes and assets individually into every app since I do switch between them quite regularly and need all my tools available. It would be really nice that when you install/delete assets and brushes in any one of the Affinity apps that they are automatically loaded/available/updated in the other apps. Example scenario: As an illustrator, I often create new custom brushes for projects. If I created a custom raster brush in Photo, but then needed to switch to Designer for vector work, I'd need to open Photo, save the brush, open Designer and then load the new brush in the Pixel Persona. Then when I switch to Publisher for layout, I would need to switch to the Photo Persona via StudioLink and reload the brush there too if I wanted to do a few finishing touch-ups. If I then made a few small tweaks to the brush, perhaps some small improvements (such as tweaking the pressure curve for the size jitter), I would need to repeat the entire process all over again. The same goes for Assets, and more. It can quickly become very time consuming. It would be incredibly useful to have a universal folder where the brushes/assets are stored so that they automatically update across the board when you customise or add them. Obviously this wouldn't be applicable on iPad, but I think it would be incredibly innovative and useful on desktop, and a huge time saver in anyone's workflow. That way you'd only need to load, say, a raster brush once in Photo, and then automatically have it available in Designer's Pixel Persona and Publisher's Photo Persona. Same goes for vector brushes, assets, macros, swatches, styles, etc.
  11. Hey! I imported cloud strokes, frankentoon brushes, xenon brushes, daub watercolors and so on into Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. I can see them in Photo, but I don't have them in Designer. I tried a second import. It shows that Designer want to import them again with a 2 at the ending - so they must be already there. But I can't see them in Brushes? How do I find them?! Thanks, Ushur
  12. Hi Everyone, I am using affinity 1.7.1.404 I think that's the latest update right? I haven't used affinity for a while and had to re-install windows on my pc as it all crashed and died on me so fresh new install. I opened it and all was going well, then after adding a couple of brushes it started to crash every time I tried to add a brush set or delete one. I have reset the brushes, still the same, when I import brushes or try to delete them affinity crashes and when I open it back up they are installed or deleted but seeing as I have a ton of brushes I want to install this is going to take forever this way and surely it shouldn't be happening this way? I have tried the duplicating of the raster_brushes.propcol that I saw on another post but still no luck. I have un-installed and re-installed to no avail? Also weird, the re-install didn't ask me to activate with my serial number? I am on windows 10 (latest update available to me) 64-bit. i7 core, 16gb Ram, 3.4ghz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB I don't suppose anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks! Billie
  13. The brush is not behaving as it was in a previous version. I could count on a very smooth line while drawing in pixel mode and an even smoother line when using the stabilizer tool. All I can manage now is a choppy, staccato line with angular curves. I've labeled the image to give you a better sense of the problem, showing the results with and without the stabilizers. All other programs on this computer and tablet combination are working properly. Thanks
  14. Hey, I looking for some brushes, they used in the Affinity 1.7 trailer. Specifically I searched for the brushes they used in the minute 1:04 of the trailer. Is that an special brush that I have to buy or is it in normal bursh sets? Thanks for your help!

  16. Hi everyone....hope this finds you well! Recent development on my end. Brushes usage has gotten really buggy and is causing CPU overload, memory jumps and slow performance. Also Designer is leaking memory after closing the program. Everything was fine a couple days ago and I haven't changed anything I can think of. I will select a brush and color and when I try and bracket up the brush size things begin to fail. In some brush sets the brush I've selected will deselect itself and default to another brush, in others I select a brush change size or color-brush deselects, in all CPU will jump and about 30 secs later I'll see my stroke. Impossible to use. All other brushes unless at a very small pixel width are also causing the same problems. i5-4960K @ 3.5Ghz, 16GB DDR3 Ram, Win 8.1 64 bit x64 based processor, MSI GTX 970, LG Ultra HD 3840 x 2160 and a small Dell monitor or a Vizio Tv as second monitor. ( I switched out the tv this morning to make sure it was not somehow the problem). I ran memtest a few weeks ago and all is fine. Anyone else having these problems? Any suggestions before I jump off my roof? Thanks!

  19. When you select a path with a vector brush already applied, the Brushes Panel should show which brush that is. Right now it's impossible to know for sure which brush have you applied to a path once you deselect it. If you look at the attached image the applied brush is clearly not the brush shown in the Panel. When you select the path the Panel should automatically select the correct brush (which is a few brushes up in this particular case). I'm requesting this under the desktop section of feedback, but this same request is equally valid for the iPad. Thanks!
  20. Hi, I posted a problem few days ago, and the moderator tell me that the problem continues i would open a new topic in this section, (can you see in this link problems with brushes and wacom intuos pro designer ) and lets go. My hardware computer are: Acer ASPIRE E5-573G intel core I7-5500U 2.4GHz Ram 8G Graphic card Nvidia geforce 920M Intuos Pro M (pth-660) My Software windows 10 Home version 1709 Its Ok, I'm use your program to color my ilustrations and I detected that when I open the designer in first time and begin to work with my tablet sometimes the programs stoped to response, and I must forced to close it with the task admin after y re-open the aplication and works. In other hand, when I paint in pixel mode, the brushes disapears suddenly, some time later than i start to paint, the circle of the brushes becomes to the cursos arrow like I'm lost the focus in the program and I' was in the OS. This is the original problem, in this days I`m paid attention and I see that this error appear more after uses the shortcut to control the size and hardness. It's like the second button click was hold down and if i press de second click button the circle of the brushes apears again. I've configured the second button click in the first button of my pro pen 2. This error only appears when I use the wacom tablet, whith a mouse or track pad integrated don't happens. Thanks in advance, Laura.
  21. Hey, I'd really love to see: 1) a favourite heart for brushes in the same way you have done for fonts. 2) An option to see the brush name without having to hover over. Thank you :-)
  22. Hello, I just started using some smoke brushes from the Affinity store. The brushes are black. How do I change the color of the brush, so that I can change it into white? Thanks
  23. Pen Pressure Opacity Settings for (1.7 Update): Affinity Photo/Designer - Pen Opacity Pressure Settings (As of the 1.7 Update): you do not need to adjust Flow or set Flow to "Pressure," to affect Pen Opacity Pressure. - All you need to do (via the Context Menu with the Brush selected) is: 1. select "MORE" 2. choose "Dynamics" 3. adjust the "ACCUMULATION" slider to 100% and select "Pressure" from the drop down. 4. Make sure the "Force Size button" is OFF, via the Context Menu; unless you want your brush pressure to affect both size and opacity at the same time, (which isn't uncommon when used with painting &/or blending). Note: you can also set the size to None via the drop-down menu for size in under More/Dynamics. Note: you may have to do this if you're using custom created brushes, such as some brushes made from Daub. Affinity Photo/Designer - Advanced Pen Opacity Brush Settings & downloaded/purchased Custom Brushes: 5. Advanced Pen Opacity Pressure: under (Brush/Context Menu/More Button/ Dynamics Tab/ACCUMULATION - Set to 100% & Drop Down to "Pressure)" you can also change the "Curve". The best curve to use is the same one for "size." The Curve button is to the "Right" of the Drop-Down menu in the Brush/More/Dynamics tab. Select a curve and try different curve alignments or create your own. The best one or rather for normal one you would expect (as in Adobe PS) is the curve alignment all the way to the Right (which again, is the same Curve used for Pen Size Pressure). 6. Download/Purchased Brushes and Opacity (very important especially for Designer): a lot of brushes already have multiple settings created from those downloaded, purchased or inherently part of Designer. However, older brushes not made specifically for the 1.7 Affinity update may need some adjusting. Flow and Accumulation are the two biggest sliders you must pay attention to if a brush does not behave correctly as it may have in previous additions of Affinity. Example: Daub | Essentials Brush Pack. Some brushes will need tweaking. I suggest coping the brush from the original and adjusting those there in (and Flow), as needed. That way you can save them and back them up as well! Hope this helps – Johnny K PS. Sorry for being so "obvious in my descriptions. I want to be clear with those whom never used Affinity before &/or those coming from Adobe. As I mentioned, Affinity really need to get with the program of adding a "FORCE OPACITY BUTTON" to the context menu as they did for Size and list "OPACITY" in the Brush/Context Menu/More Button/Dynamics with all controls, menus and curve alignments as they do for other brush properties. Kinda ridiculous this hasn't been addressed yet! * I will also try and get photos with # descriptions posted here in asap, if it is requested. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While I'm writing a small book... Dear Affinity, Affinity needs to have a "OPACITY preset, under Brush Dynamics" with the brushes customary controls; Example: Typical settings under Dynamics such as: % Slider / Type (None, Random, "Pressure," ect), for both Photo & Designer. If Accumulation is Opacity (though it acts like opacity, it shouldn't be), then change the name, it's confusing. Pen Size and Pen Opacity are the most commonly used setting and not just for pen strokes! Also... a Pen: "Force to Opacity - Button," as there is now for Brush Pen Size is greatly need also. Perhaps you might want both settings on also; as this is "again," commonly used and it shouldn't be a headache to figure out. Again, Opacity & Size (pen, pen pressure, or mouse), are the two most commonly used brush features/settings needed for brush strokes and much, much more! Right now, is the best time to beat Adobe but, the jumping through hoops, having to write a book in the forums, for one of the most needed settings of a Pen Pressure "Opacity"effect is reDONKulous and kinda annoying! Severely Ridiculous; common guys & girls! BTW... Don't mistake me. I love what you are doing with Affinity, overall. That said, it would be lovely if the new Publisher "Studiolink feature," worked in 3 programs. Designer needs the Channels Palette ... just as Photo needs more brush painting abilities' that are in Designer! Couldn't a channels palette be brought in Designer via the Studiolink feature or simply put in Designer's Pixel Persona. This is another commonly used design feature, missing from your core designer program, (no pun intended)! How & why is there no channels palette in Designer? And if for some reason Designer can't support channels, then Photo needs a serious revamp, so it can Paint more effectively like Photoshop (which to be honest, wouldn't hurt doing so regardless). Photo feels like a after thought compared to Designer, with the exception of missing key elements, already mentioned. With all sincerity - J
  24. Allow us to create cloning and healing tool brushes by utilizing the right click or control/option/command to easily create different brushes. It took me a bit to find out how to create these by going into More. Also figuring out how to find the modes like, Lighten, Darken, Multiple, was hard to find. These should be on the top of the screen, easy to locate. Also, I couldn't rotate the brushes or save them. It only allowed me to rotate one way and not the other. Thanks
  25. I just created some Affinity Photo brushes free for use. You can read about them here: https://www.cricketbow.com/brushes Or just download the file directly here: https://app.box.com/s/p7fao19irvpjz04zp5v2guefd5nv4uf2 They are free for use, but are not to be sold. If you want to redistribute them, please ask permission. Have fun! -Tim
