  1. Hi all, thought I would share a quick tutorial I have done - showing how to cut out a image selection using the brush tool in Affinity Photo. Apologies if this post is in the wrong area. Regards, Grant
  2. Is there anyway to remove the big blue dot that follows the paint brush around while I am painting? It is difficult to see what I am doing as well as extremely distracting. Thank you
  3. The issue happens when I use the Vector Brush Tool. After opening a new document and selecting the brush tool, some strange lines appear when drawing random strokes. When I stop drawing, the strange lines vanish. I'm using AD latest beta build (1.7.0.251), Windows 10 and a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet. vector-brush-tool-bug.mp4
  4. Hello! I recently started using the beta and here are some of my suggestion: 1) Brush selection: whenever I select a brush but then I change the size, the selection disappears and there's no way to know which brush I am using (or is there and I don't know where to look?) I think there should always be an indication of the brush currently in use even if you change size or hardness or any other spec. 2) With the new Symmetry feature, I noticed that if I go too close to the center, instead of drawing, it selects the irradiating line and moves it. It would be nice to have an additional button to 'fix' the symmetry guide so that it's impossible to accidentally move it instead of drawing. 3) I noticed that if you have multiple canvas open, you can't detach the windows to (for example) compare two projects or use references. Hopefully this is helpful!
  5. Hello everyone, I have a huge issue with the Smudge brush tool in Affinity Photo (Mac). When I use it to blend between two colours, it messes them up completely. I tried a lot of settings, even tried the smudge pre-set from DAUB brushes library but they all do the same. Please see below screenshots of the setting used and some tweaks with flow and strength. Can anyone help me out??
  6. When I zoom out the canvas in both AD and AP I get wavy lines when using the brush tool, not super noticeable but still annoying. But when I zoom in the canvas the lines don't seem to have this problemas. I also tested in Clip Studio but didn't get any wavyness. I use a Cintiq. Also I have been experiencing Lag.
  7. I get the other tool adjustments save for dragging up or down to soften or enlarge the tool where is the instruction philipnadin@livre.co.uk
  8. Hi! I have a question. I am using Affinity Photo for not a very long time yet. Today I realized that if I make a stroke, lift the stylus and give it a once over it like wipes itself off. It turns white again. How can I change that?
  9. Anyone know how to constrain a straight line while using a brush -brush tool? on affinity Ipad. In procreate I just keep pressing at the end of the line and it turns it into a straight stroke. Any equivalents in Affinity photo Ipad
  10. Help! My favorite tool in Designer broke and won’t work even after closing the app and reopening it. All the other tools work just fine, but the brush tool in the pixel workspace won’t do anything. Can someone help me as I don’t know if it is a bug or not?
  11. I'm trying to create a brush of my watermark. (It's really more of a stamp. I just stamp it on. I don't draw with it like a traditional brush.) When I did this in photoshop, the watermark came out crisp and clean. In affinity designer, it comes out blurry around the edges. I have adjusted the hardness and flow to 100%, and I've tried messing with other settings, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
  12. I have the latest Windows Affinity update installed. When I use the Erase Brush Tool, a small "worm" appears. It's useful for some things but it can be a nascence. I find it annoying when I use it to erase small things. It gets in the way. Can this thing be removed for certain jobs? It dose not show on the background erase tool. Should it be there? Thank you
  13. Hi there - can anyone tell me why the brush tool isnt working all the sudden? I tried moving the layer to top, chaning colour, restarting the app... nothing. Y? The actions are showing , but nothing actually painting.
  14. Hi all, Any chance of adding a few little features to the brush tool? I do use the brush tool quite a bit, and in photoshop there are options like brush cycle with shortcut keys(<>). It would be great to see it in photo/designer. Maybe even add a feature where you rotate brushes with a shortcut key instead of having to make lots of versions of the same brush? Or an brush opacity change option that is similar to the hardness and size change options? (ctl+opt+mouse direction) It makes work flows super easy versus going to sliders to change options. Thanks, Hillhouse
  15. I have been using AD & AP for one year now, most of my work is in graphic design and food photography, which I use AP to cut around an image, the choices are either the lasso tool or brush tool; I'm used to the pen tool being an illustrator user for 20 some years. Most tutorial videos utilize the brush tool combined with the refining method, I was wondering is it possible to convert the marching lines in the Freehand Lasso tool to vector lines, this will be really ideal to fix certain spots. And would like to hear other opinions what is the best method to cut around in a photo, I'm sure Freehand Lasso tool in AD in the pixel persona will do the same as AP, lasso tool. Thanks.
  16. hello, I'm a beginner in affinity desinger, and want to draw some illustration by wacom. As the picture show, I have no idea how to make my circle perfect. Because when I want to close a circle, they usually cross badly. To improve, now I use node tool to make it better. Is there another solution about? Something like smooth tool in adobe illustrator. And I also can't find Eraser in Draw Persona, so I click white color and use it as Eraser, is it correct? thanks for help and any keywords!
  17. My first attempt within AD. I used only the brush tool along with the different colours. I didn't have a drawing tablet to hand, hence the shaky lines. Let me know what you think? Thanks to Lee and Gareth for helping - I'm definitely a newb :)
  18. I want brush contrast, polarization and clarity into such as in Aperture. How do I do it?
  19. When I choose the brush tool, the circular tool does not show when I start to paint om the layer. instead I only see the normal curser
  20. Guys, I found a redraw bug, occurring in both AD and AP: 1. Create a New document, Pixel Persona (for AD) 2. Select Brush tool 3. Increase brush size to about 1" x 1" on screen 4. Set your colors to default black & white (when are you adding the d keyboard equivalent to reset colors to default black and white?) 5. Click and drag, and without releasing, press x to swap colors, (try it repeatedly to enhance effect). 6. Results are messed up. (Brush tool draws with a solid square nozzle)
  21. I would like to know if you can make a brush created with a graphics follow the pressure curves, like you can with a mouse? As I really like the appeal of the thin tip and thick middle. When I draw the lines with a brush, it obviously creates it's own pressure curve based on the true pressure, is there a way to disable this, so that it follows the saved pressure curve under the stroke settings?. Stroke pressure curve settings Desired line quality (drawn with mouse) A Line drawn with a tablet under the same settings
