Hi, It would be great to have a background blur effect, like in Sketch. It's very useful for iOS design. Thanks.

Really excited about the new beta release. First made a complete reset of the new update, opened my file and as shown in the attached i can not see the object, every piece of them is blur. I can select and move the blur object. I tried to change Renderer to Warp but same result. I have an Intel HD Graphics 4000, Windows 10 Pro Creator. Any help I appreciate Thanks

Is there a way to prevent Photo from pixelating my image while dragging layers? I'm guessing it's a performance related feature, but I want to turn it off so that I can always keep a sharp eye on things at all times. When I say pixelating, I mean that it degrades in quality while I am dragging. But, after I release the mouse, it renders at full quality again. Also, it only seems to happen in certain situations. Like, only certain zoom levels and sometimes only certain layers are affected.

hi there, does anybody have a tipp how to simulate a depth of focus for one layer? I do have two layers. 1) A Background with a slighlty blur feeling 2) extracted people in front I would like to have the people beeing more embedded into the background. currently they stand out as they are more sharp. I thought of adding a subtile blur to the edge of the "people" photo to simulate a natural depth of a focus. But I don't know how to do it in a easy and natural looking way. Or any other idea? Thanks! Thomas

(Picture attached) I selected the subject (which is a person), and blurred out the the background. However, when I blur out the background surrounding the subject, another surrounding blurred marks appears on edges of the subject outside of the selection, which I do not like. I want to get rid of these marks around edges in order to make the subject look sharper.

I want to reduce the graininess in a photo taken in low light. Photoshop Elements has a 'Surface Blur' filter that works well for this, blurring the image while preserving edges. Do any of the filters offered on the 'Filters > Blur' submenu in Affinity Photo do the same thing under a different name, or is there an alternative noise reduction method I could use?

Hi All, I would like to use Affinity Photo to create some nice low ploy art. In other software packages you draw some triangles and apply an average blur. In attached image I have started to draw some triangles using the pen tool and grouped them above the image. Please can someone help and advice if there is a way to apply a blur effect on the entire group which will affect the image underneath it. (Not the pen border). Any help is much appreciated! Thank you.

Hi, I'm quite disappointed about the B&W. Usually, I put blue and cyan as black in roder to get a black sky. The green and yellow are forced to white. This works fine, Unfortunately, it seems that Affinity puts a blur on small details as tree leaves and grass. It is important because these details are the ones that are yellow and green. When I use other tools, I do not have this level of blur. Thanks for help Hervé Ramboz

It would be nice to have a blur filter with variable kernel size based on a BW layer or a mask. This is in particular useful when a depth map is available. This is for example the case when post processing CG. In some cases it is also quit easy to generate an approximate depth map based on some photography, either using some mesh or a stereo pairs.

Would love to see a feature where we can target a blur on an edge only. Say I have a fill with some painting in it and maybe some noise applied, if I'd like the edge to be soft and apply a blur to it the whole things blurs, losing any painting detail and noise... be cool to just be able to blur the shapes edge without the contents getting blurred. Would be nice to have a slider and preview. Maybe there is already a way to do this? Any ideas? Again, a boy can dream. :D

Hi to everyone from this new user! I'm an old Photoshop user hoping to do all that I did there and more in AP. I am making masked TIFFs out of some contoured white objects that were photographed on a white background. I want to maintain the original shadow but make it blend to whatever paper it will be printed on. I have traced one contour of just the object and another one that includes the shadow and used each as masks on duplicates of the image. I gave the layer with the shadow a 70% opacity but I want the outer pixels to fade outwards to 0%. I thought using Feather and deleting the selection would do it but it does not select evenly. Grow selects evenly but deleting that just creates a visible cut. Any ideas that do not include manually going around the objects with the Background Erase tool? I appreciate any help!

Hi, I've done some artwork in affinity and I used a blur feature. I tried to export it as svg and the artwork looks generaly ok unless the parts where I used blured objects for shading. When I open the file in affinity it looks quite ok but I tried to open it in Inkscape (the Illustrator crashed when I tried to open it) and it looks like in the picture below. I don't know if it's a bug or if I exported it a bad way or it may be common export issue. I didn't found similar topic so sorry if I aks already answered question. MM

Good day, I am trying to export my logo to jpg, for the use of signature at Mac Mail. But every time I export it, it becomes blur. Please see the image attached. Shouldn't this just be the simplest task?! What do I do wrong? B This question might have been asked countless times. I'm sorry for that, I just can't find the right answer. I've been focusing on shaing and coloring techniques in Affinity Designer lately. With this Blue Cobalt Shot Glass, I used gaussian blur, layer blending modes (Color Burn and Average) and opacity to acheive the effect that I was looking for. What methods would you use? UPDATE 3/15/2015 Thank you for all of the great input. I'm including the following to this post: The original image I used for inspiration My .afdesign file so you can see the layers Further Explanation (What I was trying to acheive) My goal was to make this illustration as "real" as possible. I've been expirementing with Gaussian blur, gradients, blending modes and opacity to acheive realistic highlights and shading. blue_cobalt_glass_RE.afdesign

Hey As an amateur photographer, I would love to suggest some options for the develop persona, that would make it really cool and easy to use for any sort of photographer. May I suggest (these features I have seen in other apps, but not many tbh) Some brushes such as a blur and soften and a sharpen brush, along with dark, lighten and saturate and desaturate. I have suggested these before but I really would love them and I think lots of other people will too. May I also suggest two slider options. slider for making the blues either stronger and darker or weaker and lighter, as well as one for greens and browns. I think these sliders would be so awesome and useful for me as an aspiring landscape photographer. Maybe you've had some ideas from these ideas, suggest them because as a user I say "the more features the better, just hide the complex ones, but make sure they're within one click. All this will result in a simplistic UI and beautiful options" Kind Regards GEEKIO (Pronounced: GEEK-IE-O)
