  1. Hello, I have an animated GIF that I would like to recreate with an SVG instead. It seems like the easiest academic case for practicing snapping to me: everything is black and white and there are only horizontal and vertical lines. The snap points are easy to find automatically. However after quite some unsuccessful trial and error and reading in the forums it seems like there could be some slightly tricky behaviour about this... So please indulge if I ask now before digging further! ;) Thank you in advance for all hints, gergely FWIW here is the object:
  2. I watched a documentary on BBC tv a few weeks ago, where they attempted to recreate the opening night of the Beeb's television service in 1936. I've been interested in the mechanical (and electronic) technology since I was a kid in the 50s, and I have one or two contemporary encyclopaedia articles by J L Baird himself. Naturally, I thought I can do that with a computer ... So here is a frivolous try-out imitating the BBC's own style, as made in the 1930s by the legendary celebrated (and entirely fictitious) inventor, Prof. Kasper. You can see the finished video here: https://youtu.be/z6nLyJw3G30. It was made in Serif's VideoPlus -- of course!
  3. Hi all, So we are back with something new, Affinity in 6ixty. Short, quick lessons to whet your appetite. Hopefully this is the first of many in this series. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to cover and if I can in 60 or so seconds I will. Naturally this brings many challenges, but yep, its possible.... No 1 - Create a Black & White Image Now whilst some may prefer more in depth tutorials, I will continue to offer that but there are many benefits to short quick lessons especially since the world keeps us so busy nowadays and to learn something new in a minute is 60 seconds well spent. Be interesting to hear your thoughts. Allan
  4. My Strawberry Monkey

    Black & White

Shot on a Panasonic G7, 50mm samyang lens of the nephew done in Camden, London. Used the haze filter as it was a sunny day, did wonders to the pic... Must admit i'm a B&W addict.. Allan
  5. I would love if someone would please post some tips on editing black and white photos. Using tools to edit contrasts, highlights, shadows, exposure, etc. for the best black and white results. Thank you!
  6. The layer is rasterised (pixel layer) - works fine in RGB document Develop Persona does not work on B/W Pixel layer Color Profile Greyscale D50 I get the alert "please select RGB pixel layer" (which is correct, but shoudn´t the develop module also work for B/W? It has these nice clipping indicators that I miss in the photo persona) (1.4.1 MAS Version)
  7. My Strawberry Monkey

    B&W Edit

I usually edit in Lightroom, love the tools and ratings so its my default app. I spent some time using Affinity Photo to create this Noir look. Shot with a Panasonic G7 and my Samyang 50mm. Must admit, I'm addicted to a Black & White shot. ;) Can't wait for the D.A.M to be able to organise the shots. Allan
  8. Hi, I really like affinity photo, I find it easier to us then photoshop but there are a few things I can'tseem to figure out. I am learning different techniques for editing black and white photos. It seems via youtube that in photoshop multiple gradients can be added to one mask. If I try to us the gradient tool on a mask on a selection that I have made in affinity I can only us 1 gradient. So if I wanted to have a gradient masking out an adjustment at the bottom and at the top I can't seem to do this, it just resets to the gradient that I just put down and I lose the previous one. If this makes sense to anyone, is there a way to add multiple gradients to 1 mask? cheers, Jason
  9. I'm looking for a way to apply a grayscale/black and white effect to a photo in a gradient; I.e. The top of the photo would be in color, and transition to black and white at the bottom. Is this possible?
  10. I was getting a Failed to open PSD file. The file could not be parsed. I've managed to filter it down to the issue being "Black and white adjustment layer" which causes the issue. If I remove the layer the files imports fine. Keep up the good work. Thanks Will
  11. Moody Sheep Island Fuji X-T1 Fuji non XF14mm Exposure 30 Sec Processed in Affinity Photo. This is a photo taken way back in May this year, and reworked into Mono in Affinity Photo. To my mind, this software is just as capable as PS, and more so than LR for post processing. Still working and exploring the features.
  12. Hey! This is my first upload here, I just wanted to share a grayscale illustration of the beautiful skater Leticia Bufoni. 100% made in Affinity Designer, awesome software! I hope you like it! :D
  13. Hello folks, I've just discovered AP as an alternative for LR and PS. I'm excited, but obviously I need your help: the black/white layer (or grayscale, I don't know how it's labeled in English) doesn't apply for printing. It shows just fine on screen, but the preview in the printing interface is colored an so is the print on paper. Thanks for your help, Blumowski
  14. Now that I've cracked the clunky uploader, here's a Fuji X-T1 raw file reworked in Affinity Photo. The image was made using the Fujinon XF14mm lens and an ND filter which slowed the world down. Any thoughts welcome.
  15. Thanks for jokes guys. Here is my second attempt at uploading at pic to this forum. This is a view from the little harbour in the hamlet of Ballintoy on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. The Harbour was used a set for the the Game of Thrones serious, accompanied by heavy use of CG. Here's hoping the pic will upload. Thoughts are of course welcome. Brian
  16. My girlfriend took a picture of me and I created a vector-based portrait from it. It looks simple but it wasn't for me. I'm still getting used to vectors.
  17. Recently I had a client for a portrait shoot. She is an actress and someone really talented and full of crazy ideas. The resulting images where very good and but I wanna do something different so I played a bit with Affinity Photo and this is the result.
