  1. Right now, any boolean operation, separation of curves or shapebuilder operation gets rid of procedural corners. 2024-03-31 00-01-15.mp4 Please preserve corner attributes so it's easier to tweak shapes.
  2. Often when you edit curves through offsetting an baking appearances, the procedural corners are also baked in. This also applies when editing SVGs from external sources. I often work back the corners so I can get a procedural corner going again. For this work, it would be really nice to have an uncorner tool, which extends both vertices to their common intersection point, while remaining on the line they were on (sometimes referred to as edge constraint transform). 2024-03-30 23-37-39.mp4 Could a tool be added which does this tedious work for me?
  3. Hey folks, I've noticed a problem in Affinity Photo 2, affecting both iPad and desktop versions, where changing a layer's fill opacity via the FX options from 100 % to anything between 100 and 0 % doesn't hide the layers contents as expected. Instead, the contents remain visible 100 % at all times. This seems similar to a previously mentioned, but seemingly solved issue with the 3D effect in Affinity Designer, indicating a possible consistent rendering issue with layer effects and fill opacity settings. To reproduce the Bevel / Emboss visibility issue, follow these steps: Open Affinity Photo 2 on either an iPad or desktop and create a new layer. On this layer, draw anything using any colour of your choice. Apply the Bevel / Emboss effect to the drawn layer. Reduce the layer's fill opacity to 0%. Expected Outcome: The layer contents should become invisible, leaving only the Bevel / Emboss effect visible. Actual Outcome: Despite reducing fill opacity to 0%, both the layer contents and the Bevel / Emboss effect remain visible, suggesting that the expected change in visibility does not occur. I'm looking for insights or workarounds from anyone who has encountered this. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Dennis
  4. Hello again, and welcome to the Wide World of Wondering Questions! Today's Big Question is: How can one create bright, shiny, chiseled beveled edges in Affinity Designer? It's quite easy in Illustrator, but I have not yet found the Majickal Settings allowing one to make sharp-edged, shiny, reflective(simulated) beveled edges on text. It is quite maddening, as there are some FX I'd really really really like to apply sharp beveling to, but so far I can only get Affinity Designer to make soft, rounded, ‘glow’-y fade bevels. It is maddening. I've attached a screencap of a project currently in-process that would be ever so much improved with shiny crisp beveling. Please advise if you have the recipe for achieving the Secret Sauce result … Thanks so much for your input.
  5. This is my first time asking a question. Any wizard out there can help me to do this (image) I need to fill a shape and some very thin text using this exact colour/effect/(magic?) I've tried everything and I can't make it look like that? Sorry for the bother. And thank you for taking the time. Ps: this space is amazing you are all geniuses and I hope to one day have some knowledge to share!

  7. Profile settings in fx dialog (Bevel/Emboss/3D) change the shape of the transition between objects. But what is the shape of the transition, if Profile is removed? Thanks P.S. None/Removed Profile I would expect look like this - like turning off the effect. So any Profile there, even after it is removed, which one, what shape does it have?
  8. When you embed a drawing created in Designer in Publisher and then rotate the drawing, the light source of bevels do not rotate with it. However the light sources of drop shadows do indeed rotate. This should be consistent (lights should rotate in both cases), since it messes with the overall drawing. See my other post here for more details and a demo file.:
  9. Hey all! I’m trying to learn this program by copying existing Logos (i thought it would be a good exercise!) i chose to tackle the Toyota one, as it looked sorta simple at first. i’ve attached my working file as well as a jpg, with circles on my current problem Now i know this is pretty rough, and I haven’t figured out all my shapes very well, BUT i can’t figure out why the 3D FX is rounding the corner of the bevel instead of keeping it sharp! anything i’m missing?! Thanks very much! Untitled.afdesign
  10. So in Designer I know there is a bevel and emboss effect; I've used it. It's also in Photoshop, and I used it all the time before I switched to Affinity. Is there any bevel/emboss effect like this in AF Photo? Because I don't even see anything like the Layer Effects panel that I was so familiar with in Photoshop.
  11. I had an existing photo that I had used for various project and wanted to test Publisher out. I have used Serif products for many years. This is a Fall photo, very good one at that. I polished it up with Fall Feasts, Some scripture, and other tools provided. It came out well I thought for the first time using your Publisher. I do websites, graphics, books, and publishing in our work at Warn-Usa.com for our WIBR Media.
  12. Why is there transparency in the outer bevel option? I can't see why this type of bevel could not be opaque.
  13. I have really enjoyed making some cool layer styles that I have since posted and got great response (thank you) but I must be greedy and push the developers to give us a bit more "polish" to the bevel and emboss section of the effects panel. I think there's definitely room for growth and refinement. If we could get anti-aliasing in the mix would be great. Also a shine contour would definitely be a HUGE improvement! That and PS's Satin effect makes things really look pro. So please consider!
  14. Would like to see contour in bevel/emboss part of layer effects.
