  1. For me one of the key missing features to help me replace Lightroom would be a filmstrip feature. Basically, I would want to select an bunch of photos, load them into the Develop persona to give me a side-by-side comparison of the Photo's that I have edited. Ideally, it would allow for adding ratings to photos so I can filter them by quality. And it would also be nice to add labels to photos to indicate whether or not they were fully developed or marked to be developed/ discarded. This would then also allow me to copy paste all (or a selection of) the Develop parameters and paste them to a selected photos as an easy means to batch process them (with immediate visual feedback on the result).
  2. Considering that one day there may be options to filter search queries by layer/ page/ chapter/ text frame/ column, etc., see: It would be neat to have a batch Find and Replace in which you can add multiple queries for finding and replacing something. That way, you could batch replace various pieces of text, characters (e.g. to do clean up for multiple white spaces and break characters) for particular pages in at once. The way I see this is you could add another Find and Replace query by clicking on a "+" button, which will run after the first Find and Replace has run.
  3. Hello, I recently created a batch job using a macro. Unfortunately I forgot to uncheck the .afphoto file option after checking the .png file option. When I found out I wanted to stop the job but I did not find any way to do so. Since the job was to alter 34 images it took unnecessarily long to export to two file types. It would be very useful to be able to abort/stop a job. Please add that function. Greetings Matthias
  4. In Affinity Photo V1 I would run a use File-->New Batch job to select a group of TIFF files and save them as .Afphoto file. Since the .xmp files for each of the TIFF files was in the folder with the TIFF files the information in the .xmp files would populate the Metadata Panel. In Affinity Photo V2 this is not working. The .xmp files are not populating the Metadata Panel. Also, when I bring in a RAW file and there is an .xmp file in the same folder the Metadata Panel in the Develop Persona is not being populated. I don't know if this was a planned change from V1 to V2 or if it is a bug. If it is a bug I would be nice to have it corrected so we can Batch process a group of TIFF files and have the .Afphoto file created (it does that now) and the Metadata Panel populated (not happening now but used to). This may not be a serious bug because a person can still batch and create the .Afphoto files and then import the metadata. But, I'd like to see it on the list to be corrected. Mac mini M1 (2020) 16GB 1TB Monterey 12.6.1 USER ERROR: Today while doing something else I saw that there is now a check box in "Preferences-->General" that says "Load metadata from XMP sidecars". Once I checked that box the metadata was imported from the .xmp files as was done in V1. So, there was no bug it was user error on my part. Peace Marvin
  5. In the New Batch Job dialog the selection titled Available Macros is not displaying the macros correctly. For example in my Library Panel I have these macro categories in this order: Default Uplift - Epic Skies Image Styles Editing Macros - Marvin Effects - Marvin Here is what happens in the list of Available Macros on the New Batch Job dialog: Default - displays the Macros for Default category. This is correct. Uplift - Epic Skies - displays Macros for Default category. This is wrong. Image Styles - displays the last seven macros in the Editing Macros - Marvin category. This is wrong. Editing Macros - Marvin - displays three items from Editing Macros - Marvin and the items of Effects - Marvin. This is wrong. Effects - Marvin - displays the contents for the Default category. This is wrong Here is how I got into this situation: 1. When upgrading I selected existing data in V1 to be brought into V2. 2. When I started to back process some files and reference the macros I saw the problem and figuring something we astray during the upgrade process. 3. To correct the problem I exported the Categories, then deleted them from the Library Panel, and then imported the Categories again. The macros run fine. However, they cannot be executed as a part of a batch process because although they appear in the Available Macros dialog they are not found because (and this is my best guess) the indexed item in the dropdown list does not in reality relate to the actual position/local of the macro. Therefore, the macro selected is not executed and no files are processed. Also, no error handling seems to be done and the program just exits without doing the batch process and no error message is displayed. I don't see a way a user can correct this situation short of maybe putting all macros in the Derfault category. And, I am not eager to do that. Hope this information helps in identifying the cause of situation. Mac mini M1 (2020) Monterey 12.6.1 PROBLEM RESOLVED: This morning the problem was resolved. I simply kept shifting the orders of the macro categories and when I hit on an order that worked I stopped shifting. My best guess is that one of the categories that was moved to the bottom is corrupt. Anyway, there is nothing that the testers or developers have to do on this matter. Peace Marvin
  6. First order of business: I love the updates, big thanks to Affinity and Serif for the hard work! Onto the suggestion: Currently, I can batch RAW files to .afphoto files, but they are embedded with huge file sizes and no option to make them linked instead. To convert RAW to .afphoto as linked files, I have to individually save each one. This is a problem for my workflow. Also, when merging for HDR or Stacks, I cannot use .afphoto files as the source. This requires me to batch out intermediate TIFFs first, which eventually get deleted and seem like a wasteful extra step. For context: I shoot a lot of bracketed photography, mainly for HDR but increasingly for focus stacking. Currently, for a 5-bracket shot, I have to manually open and save each of the 5 exposures. With larger photosets following multi-day trips, this is going to be extremely cumbersome. Bonus points: I would love to be able to add text to the end of a filename (e.g. "_Edit") when batching, but that's a much lower priority than the requests above.
  7. Is there a way to batch convert from .afphoto format to jpeg or others. I have done a lot of editing work and all of my photos saved as .afphoto and now I would like to convert without doing one at a time.,
  8. Working with Web design i often need to eport several different png graphics ... i would like to know if there is a way to click/select an object to create atutomatically artboards or slices in the precise dimenson of the object/group, so when i export a PNG file the image does not leaves a gap or borders. Is there a way to do this?
  9. I'm sure this is a simple task, Sorry to bother...I'm just getting started with Affinity, moving from CSS5. I have several photos loaded, have edited. I want to automate saving and closing the files. Seems I need to export. I tried creating a batch, but it seems as opposed to PS, batches apparently do not work on already loaded and edited photos (at least not that I can tell). So I tried creating a macro, but it said a macro cannot export. Any suggestions?
  10. Hello support, I am encountering a problem in Affinity Photo 1.9.2.1035 in Windows 10 20H2 x64. I want to process a batch of 245 RAW-files made with my Nikon Z6 (.NEF with a file size of 28-32 MB per file) with the following options: - Save file to a different folder - convert to JPEG using standard settings (quality 100) As long as I do not activate the "parallel processing" option, everything runs fine, but somewhat slow since the pictures are processed one by one. As soon as I activate the option, 32 files will be processed simultaneously (32 CPU Threads), but no picture will be saved. Every file will have the "I am working" animation (see marker in example image attached), but it will run forever. The RAM usage is approx. 43GB then. My machine contains the following parts: - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (16 Cores / 32 Threads) - 64GB DDR4-3600 CL16 - Gigabyte X570 Mainboard - AMD Radeon RX6900XT 16GB - source disc: Samsung 1TB 980 Pro SSD (NVME) - target disc: Corsair MP510 1TB SSD (NVME) - newest drivers and Windows updates Is the "parallel processing" not working a normal behaviour? Is this option designed for machines with far more CPU cores (e.g. workstations with 64C/128T) or is this a probably a buggy behaviour? Thank you very much for your answer and your investigation. Regards from Germany!
  11. Hi Guys, a strange thing, one of my users wanted to load a serie images to make a hdr with the hdr batch. But it ask only for AP file format. This is also by a file batch... I see on my desktop only the AP format, but can load normal jpg files to it. has someone this before? He used versie 1.10.5.1342 on the laptop and desktop (where it works). OS: win 10
  12. Hi, I am processing the photos from our last trip, coming from lightroom i am wondering if it is possible to export multiple files at once? I googled around but didn't find any new relating topics. I cant imagine I have to export 100+ photos one by one? :) Just bought the program, looks very promising!
  13. Friends, I'm using Affinity Designer 1.10.4 on a Mac Mini running Big Sur 11.6 and a client send me lots of icons to fix line width and size. When I open the file, I have 3 art boards full of icons. I'm trying to do the easy parts first and then go to the complex ones. In my mind set, all icons at a same height and width is a matter of selecting all and apply the correct size, right? I mean you can do that practically on any design app out there (Inkscape, Acorn, Vectornator, Pixelmator, Illustrator and many others) How can I do this in Designer?? I tried all the things that come to my mind with no success at all. Do I need to create a macro? Using a third party app like Keyboard Maestro? Any help or solution will be greatly appreciated to it.
  14. Hello! I just watched a fantastic YouTube video about how to use batch to add watermark to a lot of photos at once*. I tried to use it on a pdf I created using Designer, and it added the watermark to the first page only. I then tried the same batch job using a Designer file, and it did not work at all. Is there a way to do a batch to add watermarks to every page of many Designer files at once? Thank you! *ETA: using Affinity Photo
  15. Affinity designer on iPad really misses the ability to export any slice/layer with multiple file formats. While this is possible on desktop, on iPad I have to select all the slices and to set the format every time I need to export in more than one file format. This is extremely frustrating when for example I have to provide multiple images in both PDF and JPEG. And since I use specifically the iPad version because of the ease with which I can illustrate and compose images using the Apple Pencil, the export persona really needs to be as performing as the desktop version.
  16. Sadly, not available for Mac but this image converter will batch convert between many formats including vector formats. 17. Hi All, we have a huge image-folder with thousands of PSD files which we want to batch export to PNG. While Affinity Photo does this quickly we run into limits with the GUI – as seemingly one can only add files to the job with the OS-default browse dialog (win10 in our case). We want to process several hundreds of images at once – and the Windows native file picker which doesn't work with file-metadata totally isn't up to the task. All image in our folder are cleanly grouped with keywords – it would be super simple to drag and drop all similar assets to the processing queue – but unfortunately this method seems not to be supported at this time. Is there possibly another way to access the batch tool, where drag and drop is supported? We for overall workflow reasons prefer not to create subfolders, merely for exporting.
  18. I would like to export separate layers of a file as png or jpeg to a specified folder. Is that possible and can It be done as a batch export command in or out of the Photo Affinity software? Thank you Justin --
  19. I'm fairly new to Affinity Designer. I've imported a Illustrator document into Designer. The file contains a bunch of artboards (which show as Pages in Designer). I am able to export these one at a time, however, is there a way I can batch export these with a specific height?
  20. Hi, I'd like to batch export image files, mostly JPG, to Webp if possible. I'm guessing this is more possible in Photos than Designer, but I have purchased both—for macintosh—and I'm good either way :) In Photos, I see 5 batch Saves (AFPHOTO/JPG/PNG/PSD/OPENXXR). Is it possible to save as Webp for web optimization? Or if there are add-ons/plugins that can do this? Thanks for your great software and for your time!
  21. If I enter a percentage scaling for with or high the input in the batch dialogue it would be ignored, no rescaling happened. If this feature ist not possible, i expect a feadback and not only a "done" after pressing OK.
  22. Hello all I evaluate AP 1.7 as a replacement for Lightroom but run in some very basic problems with raw file development. 1. When I develop one single raw file (DNG from Lightroom) AP writes a huge file (121MB versus 19MB original). This is no good. Is there a way to save the adjustments done in a fair way without using the alternative formats like tif, jpg etc. ? 2. I want to develop several raw files (DNG from Lightroom) at once with a batch process and saving them in jpg or tif for further processing. However, I do not manage to apply the individually made macro in Photo Persona to process the RAW files in Photo Develop, although I can select the macro. Possibly the macros are not compatible? How can I process several raw files the same way? 3. Is it still not possible in AP to save adjustments made in single raw files in an undestructive way? Thank you for your helpful answers. Best regards,
  23. The Batch Job feature in Affinity Photo is great, but one crucial feature that's missing is the ability to select multiple folders and subfolders and all the images inside automatically being added to the list. The whole idea of the Batch Job is to save time from manual labour, and sometimes having to go through tens of folders and subfolders and manually selecting all image files to be batch processed is a very manual and time consuming process. Thanks
  24. Good morning, Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I am a reasonably good amateur photographer with decent kit (Canon EOS 7D Mk11), but far short of being a professional. However I do a bit of photo journalism for a couple of classic yachting magazines. I have been using Affinity Photo for around a year now and am slowly getting the hang of it! My question is this: What do most of you do with a session's (say a day's) worth of shots, do you go through each one and edit it in Affinity individually (there may be 100), or have you got some sort of "standard" batch process (maybe using a macro) which you use as a "pre-processing" operation; if so can someone suggest a method? Regards Chris
  25. I'm always big on batch processing and an efficient export workflow. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to get the most out of AD 1.5 exporting - but i'm still mystified at what Batch Builder actually does. No help on it. No google returns outside of the feature list saying: Batch Builder for multi-slice imagesets (Xcode asset JSON) And it seems to be very oriented around touch icons - is there scope for more? Please affinity, let us in on the secret?
