  1. So, I just recently purchased Affinity Photo in hopes to have a software like photoshop to draw and paint on and the reviews looked pretty good. But, when I try to draw using the paint brush it pixelates first and then becomes a line and I have no idea what to do and there was no guide as to what can be done. I saw a video where it said the software needs to be set up in a certain way to draw and paint efficiently. If there is set ups to this please let me know. Also, there seems to be some color glitch where i select the color but still can't paint it on the canvas. Help Me.
  2. Brian nice graphics series!!; A question, since you use the forum as a personal site, why do not you also share AD files with other users? It would be very useful and not just an opportunity to show your work. thanks!
  3. Hey all, I've been working on a deck of cards. Still trying to flesh out the main theme I want to go for but right now its sort of based on Tarot cards. Spades, Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds are also Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentagrams respectively like in a tarot deck. There's also 4 colors instead of 2. The idea is for this deck to also be the minor arcana of a tarot deck and later I can design a "major arcana expansion" deck that when combined with this deck would make it into a full tarot deck. The major arcana card in a tarot deck are the ones with names like "The Magician", "The Fool", "Death", "Justice", etc. The minor arcana are the 4 suits with the Ace, 2-10, and the court cards so that would be this deck. Maybe even will include a couple Major arcana as the Joker cards. Like "The Fool" and "Death" cards since most playing card decks have 2 jokers anyways. I'm also playing around with a duality idea of each of the court cards having slightly different sides. One being normal and the other side being a bit rough or unkempt. This would make them not perfectly symmetrical which would also be good for using them as Tarot cards since a card being upside down means something different than if it is turned right side up. Most number cards can show upside down except for the diamonds so I still need to figure out that for the 2-10 of diamonds cards. Anyways, I'm rambling on now. So what do you think? Any critiques or suggestions on the design? TL;DR - I'm designing a deck of cards. What do you think?
  4. Jut a first attempt using some of your elements…
  5. Really wanted to do a DOOM version of my branding for a while, so I took elements from both the original logo as well as the reboot and mashed it together. Really happy with the results. This is my first big project fully utilizing Affinity Designer. Fully vector and fully in-house.
  6. Tribute to Elon Musk's inspiring SpaceX corporation, in a retro-futuristic poster style. Hope you like it.
  7. Can anyone tell me if with Affinity photo on iPad pro, will I be able to resize images? Like in photoshop - image- resize- ... I need to be able to say make a 16x20 inch 300dpi image bigger to say A1 size. Also, whats the biggest image size I can work with? I don't need layers so much, just canvas and dpi size up to 300dpi.
  8. Hey all ! I am Chris and I am studying graphic design ; for now I am focused on branding and illustration (you don't surely know but I follow this forum for about 1 year lol). 10. Hi there! I am new from Illustrator and looking for a way to crop my workspace to the artwork bounds. Have a look at the images attached: I want to crop the background so that my icon's background is just what's now marked red. How to fit to Artwork Bounds? Thanks and best regards
  11. Hey guys, back in 2011 I took some pictures (1) and combined them into an artwork (2). I had to use PS (I think it was CS5 if I remember correctly). The whole thing is related to the fairy tale ›Der Froschkönig‹ written by the Brother’s Grimm. Well, a few days ago I picked the same pictures (1) and created a ›Remake‹ just for fun. This time I used AffinityPhoto 1.5.2. and made the artwork completely new. Instead of the perfume bottle I decided to add the boat, the paddle and water lilies. (3) The result is (4). The file is up to 300 MB and runs smoothly on my 6 year old iMac.
  12. Hi guys! New member here. I produce film music and also been doing some 80's retrowave/synthwave music. Didn't wanna go the Photoshop/Illustrator route with the subscription so found Affinity Designer (also iDraw/Graphic) but seems Affinity is the better one here? Anyhow, I don't know all the effects and names for everything more than layers etc. But wondered if it is possible doing somewhat like all the stuff here in Affinity: The 80's retro designs with cool backgrounds, layers and reverse pyramid designs with some cool retro fonts with layers (behind) and sometimes adding effects like shimmer/lights and splitted colours in the text string. Is this possible in Affinity and do you guys know what the effects are called? I could also just find a background and make a nice font to it. Oh yeah, how many/good are the fonts if I want to make the typical Retro designs inside Affinity?? Much much appreciated and all feedback is welcomed. I will absolutely watch the stickies with the tutorials and perhaps I'll learn more from there, but wanted to give you some examples. //D
  13. This feature is from illustrator (i used cs4). this is very powerful features which allow to re-color any part of an object: symbols, shapes, groups etc' It shows the user all the color used, and let him modify any of them. saves the user time of selecting objects and sub object individually. Attaching pic. also the ability to make a keyboard short cut to it is vey important. I'm very miss this thing. Thanks, Rotem.
  14. Greetings folks. In this thread I will simply be documenting the journey, of things that I create with Affinity. This is not meant to be a thread for tutorial, rather a thread for what can be made with the software. With that on the side, feel free to ask questions if you have, I will be happy to answer. Cheers!

This is the cover of a sample pack and my FB banner (2nd and 3rd image). The cover was made on the pixel persona of AD with a light retouch on AP. And the banner was recently made on AP since I've just acquired the app. How it looks on FB. https://www.facebook.com/aurantiummusic/ Really love to make textures on AD and AP.
  17. Loving the new artboards, makes life in AD so much easier. Here is a selection of album artwork covers i'm working on. If you wanna see how these were made click here. Allan
  18. I would love it if you could make a perspective crop tool. I photograph a lot of artwork and every now and then despite my best efforts a painting might be slightly out of square and such a tool would be very useful, a conventional crop tool doesn't always work if the camera back isn't perfectly parallel to the artwork, this sometimes happens when working on location in makeshift studios. I am sure such a tool would be brilliantly useful for other crops also. Thank you :)
  19. Hi, I am providing the source files of these two arts. One of them, with which I participated in the affinity photo contest. Soon,i will post more works. I hope you enjoy! Files can be downloaded here Best Regards, Heli Herrera
