  1. Affinity Designer Version 1.7.1.1 iPad Pro 12,9 inch first generation, iOS 12.3.1 I added screen recordings for clarity. Problem 1: Margin and bleed not working for artboards Margins and bleed work perfect for documents that do not use artboards, but when I convert it to an artboard using "Insert Artboard" it stops working. Same goes for creating a document and enabling the option "Create Artboard". Bleed still shows, but changing the values for Left, Right, Top or Bottom doesn't change the bleed. When opening the menu again the values are back to what they were before using "Insert Artboard". Margins also don't work, it goes back to Left 0.0 Right 0.0 Top 0.0 and Bottom 0.0. Trying to change this makes it immediately jump back to 0.0. margin_bleed_artboard.MP4 Problem 2: "Check Spelling While Typing" option is always on when loading any document check_spelling_while_typing.MP4 Problem 3: Limited selection of presets for inserting artboards in an open document It looks like the artboard presets of the category "Device". However, the bottom four options are also missing: Kindle Fire HD 7, Kindle Fire HD 8.9, Galaxy S5 and Surface Pro 2. There is an option missing for selecting the category like when creating a new document. It seems that this simply has been overlooked. insert_artboard.MP4
  2. I have two artboards (one is a front cover and one a back cover) in an Affinity Designer file. I'm trying to place both of them separately in Affinity Publisher. Can this be done or do they need to be two separate AD files? Thanks
  3. I FOUND A SERIOUS COLOR MISMATCHING ISSUE WITH AFFINITY DESIGNER 1.9.2.1035 UTILIZING ARTBOARDS I discovered the craziest color mismatching in Affinity Designer v1.9.2.1035 today that really had me stumped. I have 3 or more files that essentially contain the same elements, colors, etc, other than some text and image variants using artboards. I noticed that one of my project files contained a much lighter orange background compared to the others. So I drew a square as a test and set the color to a picked color from the good project file (in a sister tab), and noticed that the square filled with the orange was much lighter than the deep orange in the color palette. Please see first screenshot. I then checked to make sure there was no effects, transparencies, or other modifiers changing the appearance and found none. I also checked if there were any artboard effects or modifiers and couldn't find any. I also checked the document settings under color and found no difference between this project and it's sisters. I then created a new artboard and instantly the background colors in the other artboards updated with the correct color. IT IS REPRODUCABLE RIGHT NOW WITHIN THE UNDO/REDO STACK What I find ironic is that I can actually undo the creation of the artboard and the color mismatching appears again. If I recreate the artboard the colors restore. The second screenshot shows a created artboard next to the SAME SQUARE. As you can see the orange changed to the correct color after creating the artboard next to it. The colors in the other content filled artboards were then restored to match the palette color tool. If I delete the newly created artboard that fixed the colors, then delete it, the colors remain fixed. I'm thinking there may be corruption in the project file, but haven't investigated. COLOR MISMATCHING CARRIES OUT THROUGH PDF EXPORT When exporting to PDF the mismatch colors carry into the PDF export document. WORKAROUND Create another artboard and then delete it. After saving, closing, and reloading, colors are ok. COLOR OK FOR PDF EXPORT AFTER WORKAROUND I just confirmed that after the workaround, saving, closing, then reloading document, that I was able to export to PDF and the colors were consistent this time. POSSIBLE CAUSES OR LINKS? Well there seems to be a setting in the Preferences where you can choose the gamma or color of the background when using artboards and I believe that somehow background setting is being applied to the contents within the artboards or even objects rooted outside any artboard tree which cause the mismatch. Let me know what you think guys. This is the first time to experience this, and I think it will be very unlikely to see this bug surface again. Thanks for looking this bug over.
  4. UPDATE: Using Windows Designer 1.9 on a capable laptop. I have a designer document whose page size is 8.5 x 11. The document has two groups of objects, each measuring 3.5 x 5". I want to convert each of these objects to its own artboard. So I choose the first group and with the Artboard tool, choose Selection and Insert Artboard in the context menu. Artboard1 is created with the group as expected. When I repeat this procedure with the second group, Artboard2 is double the width of the object (i.e., the size it would be with both objects) and covers both objects, although the group from Artboard1 in the layers palette is not part of this new artboard. I don't think this is expected behavior. Anyone else?
  5. Some suggestions for Export features in coming updates. Apologies if they have been suggested already. Addition of Export all artboards option in Designer. Addition of option to edit resolution and save options of export when using slices in Designer Macros in Designer
  6. Automatic renaming of layers and artboards When copying artboards several times, they are added with the same name. Often this ends up with many artboards with the name "Artboard1". Artboard names are for example important when exporting, so they should have unique names I need an option which, after selecting layers or artboards, would allow me to give them a name with consecutive numbers like CustomName 01 CustomName 02 CustomName 03 ... It is very uncomfortable and time consuming to manually edit this for 30 artboards.
  7. in Affinity publisher when I have multiple artboards and then I select an object outside of them an outline surrounding all the artboards is shown, how can I hide this outline so it doesn't show up anymore? check the attached image below note: this doesn't happen when am using Affinity designer.
  8. Hi! I'm trying out Artboards (In Designer) at the moment and currently I got 10 similar artboard. Is it possible to link objects to mimic each other? Lets say I've made a rectangle to act as a background in each of the artboards, and I want to change the background of all of them, without having to select each rectangle individually. Is this possible? Bonus question: Is it possible to export all artboards at once as individual files? Instead of doing 10 exports selecting each artboard at the export window.
  9. Hi! Please, is it possible? I have document done in the Publisher and saved as afpub. Is it possible to continue the work in Publisher with all the pages opened as artboards? Thank you.
  10. I'm fairly new to Affinity Designer. I've imported a Illustrator document into Designer. The file contains a bunch of artboards (which show as Pages in Designer). I am able to export these one at a time, however, is there a way I can batch export these with a specific height?
  11. Hi everyone! I have been using Affinity Designer quite recently. But at the very beginning, I had problems that I still cannot solve. Can someone tell me how this can be done. First question: After I have created the document, I cannot resize it normally. That is, I do not know the exact values of the width and height, I would like to just pull the edges of the canvas and select the optimal size. But I cannot find how to do it. When you select the "Resize" item in the menu, you need to know the specific values for the length and width to adjust, but I do not know them. It would be convenient if the canvas at least changes when you change the parameters, but this does not happen. Is there a solution to this problem? Second question: I found that you can convert canvas to artboards and then you can resize them when you drag on the edges. BUT. The background behind the artboards turns an awful bright gray. This is very distracting. Can this be changed? Thank you for your responses!
  12. We need the option or the tool for create unlimited artboards in Affinity Photo like in Affinity Designer is possible to a better and faster workflow
  13. I have many artboards (or layers) in a document. And for some reason, most of the running page numbers or layers is correct in running ascending order, but there are some which do not reflect the correct or same page numbers as in the layers name. Even when layer name is updated or changed, the artboard name still does not change. Though I guess this is not a significant problem as the export should follower the layers order, but am I missing something? Thanks.
  14. Hello Affinity team, as a designer who heavily relies on art boards to produce an array of files for a single project. I would love to see a save feature within the export persona that allows for us to export the art boards as the artboard name we have chosen, but also the project name. Something like this: MasterFileName_ArtboardName.psd. That way when we export multiple files that are very similar in size and have the same extension, we can move them around more efficiently. If this is already a feature, please someone show me how. I feel like this would boost my productivity immensely.
  15. designer version: 1.8.703 As the title says, creating new artboards moves the position of slices that are contained in other artboards It happens when you use the slice tool (Watch attached video for replication) 2020-11-23_21-31-20.mkv untitled.afdesign
  16. Hello team, I leave you this idea: it would be good that when you select an artboard with just press the enter key you can rename it as it happens with the mac operating system. Have a happy day.
  17. Im laying out a photo book using Designer. There are potentially 100 pages, Is there a way to re-arrange the placement of art boards into a grid matrix instead of the endless left to right scroll? I find the grid layout to be a lot easier to work with and visualize the final product. Can artboards be rearranged? When working on a project like this sometimes I want to swap page 10 with page 35 for example, Is there a way to drag and drop to rearrange the artboard order? Guides, setting up guides that are the same for every artboard is a bit daunting with the current method, I have to select the precise location for every artboard. Is there a way to place guides at the same locations on all my artboards? Thanks for the help or consideration of adding these features to the artboard functionality.
  18. Hi all, I can't move on with this and also haven't found any relevant topic on the forum so I'm trying my luck in this topic. As I'm beginner it might be something easy and stupid but it took me some time and I haven't found any solution. I have a project (catalogue) with about 140 artboards/pages and I need to rearrange pages and insert some new pages as well, for example add new artboard between pages 7 and 8 etc. It doesn't work if I do it manually by moving artboards nor using the right menu or other ways. If I do export nothing changes. Also If I delete some artboard, there is still a blank space after all. So my question is simple: How can I change/rearrange pages easily? Can I easily move artboard from the end of the document somewhere else? I hope this explanation is enough for you. Thanks guys Martin
  19. How can i remove the gray border on all artboards Are the following options available? - enable / disable border - change color Thanks BR George
  20. I have recently completed the Udemy course "Affinity Designer, Solid Foundations" by Simon Foster. Thoroughly enjoyed it (17.5 hours of video!). In one section, Simon used the scenario of proposing a presentation to a client using artboards, symbols, Simon has 30 years experience as a professional designer, and it shows. The course starts with basics, but leads on to more advanced workflows The section on Presentations works well so far as it goes. But if you map the ideas on to PowerPoint, then it misses a few tricks which are nothing to do with Affinity Designer. So could it be developed? And if so, would it then be a useful tool for creating PowerPoint presentations? The presentation below sets out this opportunity, which I am pleased to say I have discussed with Simon, though the words used are entirely mine. Sample artboards can be downloaded - see notes below video. It is more of an exploration than a tutorial. (There are notes with timings for the topics covered after the You Tube posting. Some relate to Affinity features that gave a few problems)
  21. Hello! I find it very difficult to see which layer I selected with all artboards already "highlighted"... Is there a way to turn off automatic highlighting of artboards? Or augment the contrast between artboards and selected layers? Thanks!
  22. How to save artboards to independent files in several clicks instead of many ...?! Thanks!
  23. If I create two artboards A and B and add artboard column guides to B, those guides do not show up when I drag in an object from artboard A to B until I deselect the dragged object and then reselect it. This makes placing the object accurately more difficult and is an unnecessary step that you have to repeat every time you drag in objects, which is a lot. Ideally, the guides should show up immediately when you drag an object into the artboard's space. MacOS 10.11.6, Mac Pro 3.1, Cintiq 21"UX, Affinity Designer 1.8.3 If there's a setting for this (I can't see a reason why there would be, but I've been wrong before), I will be very greatful for pointers. 24. I'm using the latest version of both Photo and Designer and didn't have this problem before updating to the latest version 1.8.2.620. The bug happens in all documents, both newly created and older projects opened up in this version. I'm on the latest update of Windows 10 and have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. Here's how to create the bug (It requires both Designer and Photo): Start a new project in Designer Create at least one Artboard (This is essential) Create a few objects (or import a few images) and make them overlap (may not be necessary to overlap them, but do this to be sure) Select File->Edit in Photo... from the menu In Photo select one of the layers and apply the Live Filter Denoise Most filters don't work, but a few do. I was specific above just to make sure to have one that doesn't in my description. RESULT: Now some layers completely disappear and others partly show (there's a patterns but it would be a waste for me to explain). Deactivating / activating the filter clearly shows that the filter isn't doing what it's suppose to do. Lastly to answer if this worked before: Yes. I had no problems with this before the latest update. The gif below show an example how it behaves. Sorry for the crappy quality, but it shows clearly what happens. I also included the Affinity-file for this example with the post. bug example (activate and deactivate the filter).afphoto
