  1. UPDATE: Using Windows Designer 1.9 on a capable laptop. I have a designer document whose page size is 8.5 x 11. The document has two groups of objects, each measuring 3.5 x 5". I want to convert each of these objects to its own artboard. So I choose the first group and with the Artboard tool, choose Selection and Insert Artboard in the context menu. Artboard1 is created with the group as expected. When I repeat this procedure with the second group, Artboard2 is double the width of the object (i.e., the size it would be with both objects) and covers both objects, although the group from Artboard1 in the layers palette is not part of this new artboard. I don't think this is expected behavior. Anyone else?
  2. Hi! I'm trying out Artboards (In Designer) at the moment and currently I got 10 similar artboard. Is it possible to link objects to mimic each other? Lets say I've made a rectangle to act as a background in each of the artboards, and I want to change the background of all of them, without having to select each rectangle individually. Is this possible? Bonus question: Is it possible to export all artboards at once as individual files? Instead of doing 10 exports selecting each artboard at the export window.
  3. in Affinity publisher when I have multiple artboards and then I select an object outside of them an outline surrounding all the artboards is shown, how can I hide this outline so it doesn't show up anymore? check the attached image below note: this doesn't happen when am using Affinity designer.
  4. Hi! Please, is it possible? I have document done in the Publisher and saved as afpub. Is it possible to continue the work in Publisher with all the pages opened as artboards? Thank you.
  5. I'm fairly new to Affinity Designer. I've imported a Illustrator document into Designer. The file contains a bunch of artboards (which show as Pages in Designer). I am able to export these one at a time, however, is there a way I can batch export these with a specific height?
  6. Hi everyone! I have been using Affinity Designer quite recently. But at the very beginning, I had problems that I still cannot solve. Can someone tell me how this can be done. First question: After I have created the document, I cannot resize it normally. That is, I do not know the exact values of the width and height, I would like to just pull the edges of the canvas and select the optimal size. But I cannot find how to do it. When you select the "Resize" item in the menu, you need to know the specific values for the length and width to adjust, but I do not know them. It would be convenient if the canvas at least changes when you change the parameters, but this does not happen. Is there a solution to this problem? Second question: I found that you can convert canvas to artboards and then you can resize them when you drag on the edges. BUT. The background behind the artboards turns an awful bright gray. This is very distracting. Can this be changed? Thank you for your responses!
  7. We need the option or the tool for create unlimited artboards in Affinity Photo like in Affinity Designer is possible to a better and faster workflow
  8. I have many artboards (or layers) in a document. And for some reason, most of the running page numbers or layers is correct in running ascending order, but there are some which do not reflect the correct or same page numbers as in the layers name. Even when layer name is updated or changed, the artboard name still does not change. Though I guess this is not a significant problem as the export should follower the layers order, but am I missing something? Thanks.
  9. Hello Affinity team, as a designer who heavily relies on art boards to produce an array of files for a single project. I would love to see a save feature within the export persona that allows for us to export the art boards as the artboard name we have chosen, but also the project name. Something like this: MasterFileName_ArtboardName.psd. That way when we export multiple files that are very similar in size and have the same extension, we can move them around more efficiently. If this is already a feature, please someone show me how. I feel like this would boost my productivity immensely.
  10. designer version: 1.8.703 As the title says, creating new artboards moves the position of slices that are contained in other artboards It happens when you use the slice tool (Watch attached video for replication) 2020-11-23_21-31-20.mkv untitled.afdesign
  11. Hello team, I leave you this idea: it would be good that when you select an artboard with just press the enter key you can rename it as it happens with the mac operating system. Have a happy day.
  12. Would be great if the team at Affinity would add a feature that enables us to sort out artboards like HOW MANY IN A ROW or a COLUMN. Also if an artboard is Numbered at the end it would be good for it automatically increment numbers when artboard duplicates are created.
  13. Hey, I have a issue that was in the past DESIGNER and still in the new update. I have a document i always reuse. 2 art boards. One is a wide format for social media , the other square. I change the content and also rename the art boards for output , so they have the correct name. When i rename the art board and switch to slice module, the art boards have the old name before i rename them. So I have to rename them twice. Anyway to get this fixed? Thanks Gary
  14. Automatic renaming of layers and artboards When copying artboards several times, they are added with the same name. Often this ends up with many artboards with the name "Artboard1". Artboard names are for example important when exporting, so they should have unique names I need an option which, after selecting layers or artboards, would allow me to give them a name with consecutive numbers like CustomName 01 CustomName 02 CustomName 03 ... It is very uncomfortable and time consuming to manually edit this for 30 artboards.
  15. I have recently completed the Udemy course "Affinity Designer, Solid Foundations" by Simon Foster. Thoroughly enjoyed it (17.5 hours of video!). In one section, Simon used the scenario of proposing a presentation to a client using artboards, symbols, Simon has 30 years experience as a professional designer, and it shows. The course starts with basics, but leads on to more advanced workflows The section on Presentations works well so far as it goes. But if you map the ideas on to PowerPoint, then it misses a few tricks which are nothing to do with Affinity Designer. So could it be developed? And if so, would it then be a useful tool for creating PowerPoint presentations? The presentation below sets out this opportunity, which I am pleased to say I have discussed with Simon, though the words used are entirely mine. Sample artboards can be downloaded - see notes below video. It is more of an exploration than a tutorial. (There are notes with timings for the topics covered after the You Tube posting. Some relate to Affinity features that gave a few problems)
  16. Hello! I find it very difficult to see which layer I selected with all artboards already "highlighted"... Is there a way to turn off automatic highlighting of artboards? Or augment the contrast between artboards and selected layers? Thanks!
  17. How to save artboards to independent files in several clicks instead of many ...?! Thanks!
  18. If I create two artboards A and B and add artboard column guides to B, those guides do not show up when I drag in an object from artboard A to B until I deselect the dragged object and then reselect it. This makes placing the object accurately more difficult and is an unnecessary step that you have to repeat every time you drag in objects, which is a lot. Ideally, the guides should show up immediately when you drag an object into the artboard's space. MacOS 10.11.6, Mac Pro 3.1, Cintiq 21"UX, Affinity Designer 1.8.3 If there's a setting for this (I can't see a reason why there would be, but I've been wrong before), I will be very greatful for pointers. 19. I'm using the latest version of both Photo and Designer and didn't have this problem before updating to the latest version 1.8.2.620. The bug happens in all documents, both newly created and older projects opened up in this version. I'm on the latest update of Windows 10 and have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. Here's how to create the bug (It requires both Designer and Photo): Start a new project in Designer Create at least one Artboard (This is essential) Create a few objects (or import a few images) and make them overlap (may not be necessary to overlap them, but do this to be sure) Select File->Edit in Photo... from the menu In Photo select one of the layers and apply the Live Filter Denoise Most filters don't work, but a few do. I was specific above just to make sure to have one that doesn't in my description. RESULT: Now some layers completely disappear and others partly show (there's a patterns but it would be a waste for me to explain). Deactivating / activating the filter clearly shows that the filter isn't doing what it's suppose to do. Lastly to answer if this worked before: Yes. I had no problems with this before the latest update. The gif below show an example how it behaves. Sorry for the crappy quality, but it shows clearly what happens. I also included the Affinity-file for this example with the post. bug example (activate and deactivate the filter).afphoto
  20. I know that when an AD file that has artboards is first opened in APu there is an option to convert the artboards to pages, but is there any way to do that after it has been opened in APu & has artboards that have not been converted to pages? I ask this because I have been playing around with template (*.aftemplate) files. When I create a new document in APu from a template created in AD & it has artboards, there is no option that I can find to convert its artboards to pages, neither at the time of creation nor afterwards. For example, try opening Artboards & symbols.aftemplate in APu. It is a test file that has 3 artboards (& symbols but that doesn't seem to matter). It opens fine in APu but it would be nice if there was an option to convert its artboards to pages without resorting to tricks like changing the file extension or whatever.
  21. Hello Guys, theres any way to have grids only visible in the artboards? It works perfect work with canvas... see the pictures below
  22. Since creating artboards in version 1.8, the name of the artboard no longer appears above it in the canvas area. How can I get that back? Thanks!
  23. I am in a document and used the rectangle tool to make a new second artboard but it is coming out Transparent. How do I change the color of an artboard once I am already inside a document? I also tried using the drag a rectangle method but still my first artboard is white and the second one is showing transparent?????? is this a bug in my app???? thank u! P.S. I am super new to Affinity so maybe this question is obvious but I cant find it

  25. I'm trying to create a blur gradient, so I: Duplicated a rasterised image Added ±65% gaussian blur to the top image Tried to use the fill tool to create a transparency gradient of the top image Every time I select the pixel image and pull the fill tool across it, the program hangs solid. I've tried: Restarting Affinity Restarting the laptop Not using the gaussian blur Changing the image Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can get around it? p.s. I'm not sure if this is the best way to achieve the affect I'm looking for, so if anyone has any alternative suggestions I'm all ears p.p.s. The spinning beachball of death does its thing pretty much as soon as my mouse stops on the right-hand side of the image. affinity fill tool issue.mp4
