  1. I used to be able to select multiple objects across multiple layers with a simple shift + select. But recently (lest week or 2) this has not been possible. No object is selectable by a simple click on it on the artboard unless I am currently in that layer, I have to select the object or layer in the layer palette before selection is possible. I can select multiple objects across multiple layers via the layers palette, but this slow and cumbersome on complex layers. I feel like this might be an option that I have accidentally turned on but I can't see anything in the menus, or in the preferences, that might help me undo it.
  2. Hello I use A.Designer Trial. I like the artboard, but I have problem with it when exporting. I have created UI in Inkscape, then I open the document in Designer and create artboard for export. This is how my ab(artboard) are organized: - main ab for whole document - inside main ab I have for each icon, button or graphic element individual ab for example - main document (artboard) |- layer1 |- - ab1 (artboard) |- layer2 |- - ab2 (artboard) etc.. problem is, when I switch to ExportPersona I can see the some frames have bigger size then ab. For example I have ab with 40x40 but frame have 41x40. I discover every this problem appear only when ab have position xx,45 or xx,98 in px. In ExportPersona the xx,xx is changed in to xx for example from 122,45 is changed to 123 or 122. Same for the size, if some ab have 80,45x80,61 then frame is rounded in to 81,81 size. It is looks like frames have own coordinate system which are connect to pixels? I want export svg graphics and I think exporting icon with size 45,499x48,788 is ok, there is no need to have frames tied in to pixels. Another strange problem is, when I switch document units from pixel to points with 2precision, frames coordinates are exact as ab, but it still create "one pixel" bigger frames as ab. Exported graphics have same size as frames. Is it bug or I am doing something wrong? Is there some option to have frames exact coordinates and size as artboard?

    exporting jpg : Wrong Dimensions

Hi! I have artboards in affinity photo and I'm making banner ads. Occassionaly exporting a jpg, i'll get weird stuff in the export dialog. my artboards are pixel perfect. I set their dimensions in the Transform panel. in the attached picture, you can see that the export size is different from the "Area" that isn't because I changed it. The Area is correct, the export size is not.
  4. Hi. I have created web design layout like 20+ pages (artboard). Most artboard is created by duplicating previously created artboard. When it's time for exporting using export-persona, but I am really disappointed that Affinity Designer didn't create slices from my artboards (the only slices created are my first 5 artboards that I created using "Insert Artboard" button. Now, what I really need is a simple button like "Create Slices from Artboards" that will generate slices from existing unsliced artboards, with artboard names as the slice names. Thanks.
  5. Hi I looked but couldn't see any mention of this. I would like to see double-clicking on an artboard's name (the one above the actual artboard) make it zoom to the artboard just like double-clicking on the icon in the layers panel does. I know that you can also zoom to an artboard by using the shortcut CTRL + ALT + 0 once it is selected. However, I find I would like to use a double-click on the artboard's name above the artboard, especially if I have clicked here to select it and then use CTRL + ALT + 0 to zoom to selection. It seems it would be easier to double-click the name in the first instance, especially if your mouse is nearby at the time. I have tried double-clicking on the artboard's name to see if it did this, which it doesn't but it also doesn't appear to be used for anything else that I can determine. Thanks for considering this request.
  6. crash when copy artboard and move it/rotate it, and i can open same file after crash. help
  7. Love the way artboards behave, but I'd like to have more control when inserting, aligning etc.
  8. Hello, after last update I have a problem - when I create multiple artboards they're not included later in export persona as slices like it was before. There is always the main file including all artboards available and sometimes some random artboards as well (but never all of them). It happens with the different files, I attach a screenshot as a reference. Can someone please help me with this issue? Will be very grateful.
  9. Hello, I would like to design a document, sort of a book. I used to work on X.press (a long long time ago), didn't really need it at the indesign time and need it again now. So I thought I'd use designer. I'm not sure I understand the difference in-between a page and an artwork. Also I read in the forum somewhere that you where working on a new software, like Publisher or so, would this one be the one I'd need to use to replace Indesign (the designer being more like Illustrator ? ) I hope I'm being clear enough, Many thanks
  10. Hi I'm using the latest Affinity Designer version 1.6 from the AppStore. IIRC in the previous version when i duplicate an artboard/layer, it automatically duplicated on Export persona as a slice. This is very convenient, because i could easily modify as needed and rename it as new image name (as slice name to be exported). But in the current version when i duplicate an artboard i have to create a new slice to export. I'm working with UI assets with hundreds artboard. Each artboard could be unique but most them are a variation of previous design. It's very tedious to create a new slice, rename it as the layer/artboard each time new assets created from the duplication. Please bring back the previous behaviour, or at least an option to do so. Thanks
  11. Hi, Is it possible to create guidelines for all Artboards thank create guidelines for each artboard?
  12. I was doing a simple illustration, though using 50+ layers and was spendig about 2 hrs when the software flipped out as soon as I resized my single art board. I have recorded a video of this happening which I will attach to this topic. I'm not entirely sure of the steps to reproduce this bug. What I can remember is this: - This file is a "save as" from a previous file. - I also created a new a4 horizontal document in which I drew a component - I copy/pasted this new vector component onto my "saved as" file and started reworking all existing elements. - A lot of tiny curves were grouped and 'nested' within an existing object (using the rightmost button in the toolbar) - Some objects were cropped using the vector crop tool. - Everything in the file is basically vectors. No pixels. - After a while I wanted to resize the art board. Upon sliding the corner point outwards, the software immediately threw all of my objects around. (see video attached) * layers were retained in their z-index (if I can call it that) * everything was thrown around with each mouse movement. Even far outside the artboard * Most objects were resized -> At this point I made a screen recording. After the recording, I tried "save as", saved the "damaged file" hoping it was just a visual glitch. I kept the software open, clicked on the tab of the other file I had open (the object I created on a blank canvas) and tried resizing that artboard: Everything was fine in that other file. Which leads me to believe the software had an issue with that single file causing something to flip out. After restarting the software, I opened up the damaged file. It was saved without error and I could open it fine. But it has all objects messed up (so, like I saved it) so I had to start over. Further details: - Win10 x64 intel i7 8700K / nvidia gtx 980ti / 32 GB RAM - Affinity designer for Windows, latest version - No plugins, I use the software exclusively. I do have the included UI kit and brushes imported, as well as Frankentoon Nomad pack. - Other apps running at the time were Google Chrome (about 6 tabs open), Steam, Google Backup and Sync - No error messages were given, no real crash occurred. CPU did not spike and memory usage seemed ok (though I have quite some memory) afdesbug.mp4
  13. Artboard Selection option not shwing in new document creation tab
  14. Hi, When I create a new file, lately there is an artboard already created, which has the same dimensions as the canvas size. Is there a way to start a new file without having an artboard already created by default? Thanks, Chris
  15. Hello, is it possible to show guides outside the canvas area? because when I drag them outside, they vanish
  16. Hello, I couldn't find an answer to this so apologies if I missed. I'm not a heavy user of the Designer but I thought it should be straight forward: Designing an UI for embedded device with multiple screens. I created separate artboards for each screen, all scattered across so I can see them all. I used the Export Persona to create slices for each on-screen element (buttons etc.). I need their coordinates to use in the code. While in Draw Persona, every element has XY coordinates related to the artboard. When I switch to Export, the elements that are not on the "initial" artboard have their XY related to that initial artboard. As example: - two artboards 320x240 px. side by side - both have a button in top left corner (and in the Draw Persona both have their XY = 0,0) - slice of the button on the first arboard has XY = 0,0 - slice of the button on the second has XY = 370,0 I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe my approach is not right. Attached image shows example slice in a tiny artboard (71x85 but the element's XY=644,476):
  17. When ever I tried to create a artboard within the document the toolbar drop down selection is limited to apple devices and few other mobile devices. why can't I choose different sizes for example A4, A5 or sizes that are useful for websites? affinity products are not used by designers only to design stuff for apple or just for mobile. Is there any way to add custom artboard size to the dropdown list in dartboard toolbar.
  18. Hello, I can't believe I have to ask for something so simple... but I can't find this, and I only found something from the forum for Designer, which didn't apply. So, how to I add pages or artboards? Cheers!
  19. Font edge smoothing seems to be totally absent when using, prefs > Artboard Background Grey Level - set to low. This becomes a visual annoyance in a workflow with multiple artboards in a complex layout. It appears as if there is no anti-aliasing therefore font is poorly rendered (pixelated) - making indistinct and hard to read artboard titles. Chalk & cheese
  20. I created a new artboard (Briefpapier) and placed the Logo there. Then I started configuring the helplines on this new artboard. Suddenly the Logo fades. I canĀ“t find any reason for this. When I grab the Logo and move it on the other Artboard on the left, the color is back to normal. The same happens when I copy and paste the Logo into the new artboard. Please help :-) Thank you
  21. Hi, I have some problems with the export persona and exporting. I have a document (see attachment) with two artboards, where I create patterns, two front pages, which differ and a mutual back page. I would like to exclude the pattern artboards and to export each front page together with the mutual back page separately. In the tutorial videos it said "when you create an artboard, a slice is automatically created". This does not seem to be the case when I duplicate an artboard. In the export persona the "non-duplicated" artboards had in the Layers panel the export icon, the duplicated did not. As expected, selecting the other front page and clicking "Create Slice" fixed the problem for my page. Consequently I thought, that removing the Slice in the Slices panel would remove the slice for my one pattern artboard, instead it says "Delete Objects? You are about to delete the artboard "Pattern Dot". Do you want to keep the objects it contains or delete them?". So I chose "Keep objects", but the action did not just remove the blue frame, but deletes the whole artboard. That is not the expected outcome. As far as I understand the export logic, I could create a group consisting of front and back page and create a slice for the group, resulting in a PDF export of the two pages as desired. This means, that I would have to duplicate the back page in order to create two export slices - correct me, if my understanding should be wrong. Okay, much written, not very much said: My key questions are: How do I remove the "blue frame" from the pattern artboard in the export persona while keeping it? Is my assumption correct, that I will have to duplicate the back page artboard in order to achieve the desired two distinct exports? Thank you very much in advance! 22. Admittedly I'm a brand new Affinity Designer user. I purchased Affinity Designer for work on one specific image I purchased from Shutterstock. I'm very used to Sketch for UI/UX Design. Basically, I'm trying to do the following very basic steps with Affinity Designer. The image I purchased is a .EPS, and loads fine in Affinity Designer. The download is a rectangle with a lot of white space at the top and bottom, I need to remove the white space, and just focus on the image. The download is 452x452. The goal is to create a @2X and @3X images for Xcode Assets. I created an artboard around the image, and the artboard is 378x226, not quite the size it needs to be. I need to scale it so it's close to the 454x267 size I need and then export to the scaled sizes for Xcode Assets, which would be 2x (908 x 534) and 3x. (1362 x 801) all the while maintaining the pixel perfect image. Thanks in advance.
  23. I cannot export artistic text to pdf when using an artboard. Export to jpg works fine. Not using a artboard export to pdf is fine. test.pdf test.afdesign

    Exporting Artboards not possible

I am trying to export my artboards as I have done a thousand times before.... but since I updated to 1.6, all of my new artboards do not show up with blue boxes around them in Export persona and I cannot figure out how to select them for export other than dragging a box around them as slices. Any idea why this would be happening? I have attached a screenshot of the issue, thank you.
  25. Hello all, I have a 48 page document made up of 24 two-page spreads. For printing purposes I'm required to set up each spread as 2 art-boards. I'm trying to use the Export Persona and slices to do this. My question: How can I export 2 pages as one spread? I set up a spread-sized slice, and both corresponding artoboards are visible, but it only exports one side/art-board in a full size spread document, meaning one half of the spread is blank... Any suggestions are very welcomed. Peace!
