  1. It would be nice to have an application on your smartphone to see how your artboards look like in action. Exspecially for me as a developer is that quite important. I've already seen this feature on "Sketch" and it would be really helpful to have the same opportunity. Thank you
  2. Hi, I have an AD document with two artboards. If I want to place that document into another AD document can I choose which of the artboards I wanna import or place?
  3. **** Sorry, posted in the wrong place, will re-post to support group **** Hi, I'm really loving using Affinity Designer (particularly the artboards), but I've hit a problem. If I set up a design on an artboard with a bleed (i.e. objects that go beyond the edge of the artboard) and then export to PDF (with the 'include bleed' option checked) it exports fine and anything outside the artboard shows up in the bleed area as expected. However, if I create a design using multiple artboards, like the tri-fold leaflet in the "Artboards: Exporting and Printing" tutorial, you do not seem to be able to include a bleed. Basically, if I try to export more than one artboard as a single page (by grouping them in Draw Persona and creating a slice in Export Persona) nothing appears in the bleed area. I'm guessing that creating a slice effectively 'crops' to the edge of the artboards, removing anything in the bleed area. Is there any way to export multiple artboards as a single page and keep the bleed? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, thank you.
  4. I have some flyers and handouts Affinity Designer files with a lot of layers in different sizes and measurements. Is it possible to create an Artboard by coping / dragging a existing Affinity designer file into an existing PASTEBOARD screen while other Artboards are there already in place - retaining the layers and settings of the imported one? When dragging now, a multi layer Affinity designer file from the desktop to a existing Pasteboard the file is converted to a embedded one with layers and settings gone. Even in the Workbook there is no mention of a way.
  5. Insert artboard – wrong size when object has a stroke with Mitre Join. Reproduced on two Macs with non-beta and on Windows with Affinity Designer in beta version. How to reproduce: Create an object eg. rectangle, Set it's stroke width eg. 5pt, Set Join: Mitre Select that object Use Artboard Tool -> Insert Artboard Size of created artboard will be larger than it should be, there is no problem with Brevel and Round Join. As you can see on a picture I attached, there are two rectangles, only difference is the first one has Round Join and the second Mitre Join. Left artboard was created with proper size the second one has strange margin. Sometimes margin is bigger, sometimes smaller – I haven't figured out what it's size depends on.
  6. First of all, I think the Constraints feature is excellent, every other design app is missing this feature (except SubForm but it's still in development). Constraints needs to be taken a step further for affinity to really rule the web and app design community. What we need to add is breakpoints for element reflow. Programs like Photoshop and XD still require us to design separate artboards for each breakpoint, and while the constraints-feature is good, it doesn't solve the need for elements in the design to reflow according to the artboard's width. So, while I can make fewer artboards in Affinity, I still need to make at least 3 or 4 to demonstrate to my developers how I want the elements to reflow from 1080p down to mobile. Adobe Edge Reflow came close to tackling this, but it was scrapped and they don't seem to have included it in XD yet. I'm talking about elements on the screen behaving like justified text, so the artboard's width decides wether items will "jump" to the next row below or back to the row above according breakpoints set in the horizontal ruler and min/max widths set in the constraints for each item. I imagine this means constraints need to be set on single elements that can be grouped, then those groups can have constraints added to respect columns (like the Bootstrap grid), and finally the groups can respect overall breakpoint constraints. My mind boggles a bit at how to solve this in the app UI, but I'm sure it's possible.
  7. Hello, it could be nice to be able to select on what we want to align, like align to object (which is the default now), align to artboard and align to key object where we could select an object or group to align to. Also it could be nice to be able to select in print dialog which artboard to print. Another thing that I find very useful is the ability to change colors in a more massive way. So if you have a group of objects selected and the object have different tints of red, to be able to select blue and automatically change to the blue tints, or if there are many different colors to have a list of those colors and be able to change them individually by selecting them in that list, without the need to try and spot the actual objects on the group (which may be a lot if it is a complex design). That's all, thanks for your hard work and for getting affinity suite in windows :)
  8. I am new to Affinity Designer, but have discovered that working with artboards makes my life much easier when preparing variations on a piece of design work for multiple platforms. In order to share designs with colleagues, I am printing multiple artboards as an A3 spread. This looks great, but I have to hand-write the artboard labels on to make it clear which design is for which platform/purpose. Is there a way of displaying the name of each artboard on the print out? Checking 'Include Page information' in the print options only seems to print the name of the whole document. Thanks for any pointers.
  9. I couldn't see anything mentioning this before or i'm just being blind but when I add vertical guides through the guide manager on one artboard it works fine. When I have multiple artboards it changes the figure to be something random with a minus. I can't see what i'm doing wrong to cause this. Also is there a way to place a guide on multiple artboards?
  10. How do I get OUT of Artboard view? The HELP menu is insufficient. I am new to this software, and am having to learn the hard way.
  11. Greetings Affinity Designer Users, I'm hopping someone can point me into the right direction. When placing and using a graphic individually on to the canvas, Usually, anything that spills or leaks out from the canvas has always stayed within the canvas "margin" and or does not leak out. That is until you select the Artboard Tool and then you can have as many Art boards (Canvases or aka as the projects pages) in your project as you want, and all the graphics are perfectly visible outside of the actual canvas size (with no clipboard mode being used) as it normally should. (Please see image attached) But then, WHY is it then, that a glitch happens out of nowhere sometimes when your graphics start leaking out of the ClipArt board Canvas, when clearly I DID NOT want to create an ClipArt? nor did i select it the Art board Tool. How can I fix this ? It used to be not long ago where it would automatically fix itself after restarting the software but its coming back up with the file itself and those same settings are now being saved with that same setting for when i open up a new graphic art file. In Other words, How can I turn OFF that "Art board" feature (where graphics don't stay within the chosen margins and never really disappear after it leaks out the confined dimensions of the page as it usually would when in Artboard mode) I don't want that feature ON when I'M NOT using a Art board mode nor the Art Board Tool in my project. I just want the regular mode with its margined canvas without the Artboard tool, and without my graphics leaking out of my main comp. (For an example of Please see attached image) Again, this is me NOT using the Artboard Tool here, and the graphics still leak. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it if anyone can get back to me! Best always, PJ
  12. i figured out how to view objects that are not on the canvas, by deselecting "clip to canvas". but how do i do this when working with artboards? i WANT to see what's not on the artboard. i always have artwork off the canvas/artboard. that's how i work. i don't understand why AD has this option. in graphics software, you always see what isn't on the artboard.
  13. Hi, My first request here. I recently needed to export quite a lot of layers as EPS and import them back into After Effects for motion graphics work. I realized that Persona exports the layers using their individual boundary. That means that when I import them into AE, their alignment on the page is different from the original layout. In order to fix this, I need to add an invisible rectangle to each layer. At that point, Persona considers the rectangle the actual boundary and the position of the element in the layer which I need to export, is finally correct. A way to avoid this workaround would be an export option, where the user can choose between Artboard boundary and Asset boundary (like in Adobe Illustrator). I really want to ditch Illustrator, and despite I'm tied to After Effects for my work, vector files don't have to necessarily be handled in AI. AD is a great candidate, actually, the only one which really makes me feel I can finally do the switch. But before I do so, I need to be able to export to AE in a clean way. Best, Andrew
  14. Hi Developers, I have made full steps to reproduce video to show a bug that happens when you want to use guides and have multiple artboards. The guide positions are offsetted. This bug also appeared on the previous version 1.5.0.26. The video is in the attachment. Let me know if you need more info. Best Regards, Beta User GuidesBug.zip
  15. Hi! Updated to last version (1.5.1) and strange and very annoying thing happened. I'm working on multi art board file, all art boards 16X16 pixels. The size is 3, 4, 8 times checked. However, switching to "Export Persona" the size of the slice is automatically resized to 17X16 pixels. Same file, previous version was perfectly sliced at 16X16... Any ideas?
  16. Hi, in the case of horizontally arranged artboards, it is not possible to create vertical help lines in the artboards on the right. For explanation I have attached screenshots. Best regards, chrisart
  17. I'd like to clarify the role of the 'Document' when using artboards. I've created a number of files to combine into a single brochure and each one is on an artboard (to ease the final PDF export). To create the combined file I wanted to start with a blank document and embed all the files as kind of 'pages' in the order of my choosing. The problem I find is that the default 'Document' on a blank new file can't be deleted, except when you create an artboard, then it disappears (superceded by the artboard). So I have to start with one of my 'pages', then add more artboards, then re-save the file. But the starting 'page' won't be embedded in the same way as the rest. It just feels slightly disjointed and I wonder if I'm approaching this wrong?
  18. Hi, I'm using the newly released AD 1.5 and loving it. I just haven't found a way to print multiple artboards onto one page. Is this possible? Thanks
  19. Ok.. so I haven't found anything in the forums that address this, so I'm pretty certain it's something wrong that I'm doing. When in export persona, I have no problem exporting anything to PNG, but when I change the export options for anything else (TIFF, JPG, it doesn't matter) they end up saving into the folder as PNG. Every time. What am I doing wrong? Paul 2014 15" MacBook Pro 512GB SSD 16GB RAM
  20. Hi everyone, is there a way to restrict the selection of snapping candidates to the current artboard? Thanks!
  21. Steps to reproduce: Create a new A4 document Create a new Artboard by freehand using the Artboard Tool Create a new iPhone 5 Artboard by setting the size in the Artboard tool to iPhone 5, clicking Insert Artboard Delete the first Artboard by dragging it in the Layers panel to the rubbish bin End result is both artboards are rendered to screen but only the iPhone 5 Artboard actually exists. If you zoom into the old Artboard eventually it disappears.
  22. In a document with artboards, it would be nice if I could create an object linked to an specific artboard (like a proxy object). This object would not be editable (only in size) and any edition to the linked artboard would be instantly update in the object. The only way to do this now is to create a document only containing the desired artboard and placing it in another document.
  23. Greetings all, I created a document with 6 letter-sized artboards, each spaced .5" apart. When I tried printing, I noticed the content on artboards 02-06 were all shifted .5" to the right exponentially, and add an extra page. Saving the document as a PDF thru the print dialog replicates the issue (see attached). Has anyone else noticed this glitch? Cheers! jB jboissy-artboard-glitch.pdf
  24. Hey, Really like working with AD, at least when it doesn't crash. Which is does now, a lot - like every other minute. Seems mostly when dealing with artboards. Also, to make a crash more annoying, the studio hides and the tools "undock". To re-launch AD after a crash I have to: 1. Launch AD. This launch however, will freeze. 2. Force quit AD. 3. Re-launch AD. 4. Re-dock Tools. 5. Reset Studio. 6. Open the work file. 6. Create a new document and add any shape to the canvas. (This is the only way for the layers in the studio to actually appear.) 7. Close the new document. 8. Get back to work, until it crashes again. 9. Rinse and repeat from step 1. Needless to say, this is EXTREMELY frustrating and time consuming. I would have posted this under bugs, but seems you have closed that forum. Aanyway.... When I sufficiently zoom out, I would really like to see the overlapping artboard labels hidden. There is no point in showing something that looks like this (attached image):
