  1. Here I'll show you an architecture magazine that I design annually with Affinity Publisher and oversee the printing and production. In the beginning the magazine was created in Indesign. After I got out of the Adobe subscription, I adapted it in Publisher and now designed it in AP for the fourth time. At the beginning there were problems with embedded customer PDFs; these were not passed through but were always somehow interpreted and therefore incorrect. Since ver. 2 this has been a thing of the past. You can view the entire magazine as a digital edition here. Have fun! Servus Ernie
  2. I've been collecting links to various resources useful in the field of architectural rendering and visualisation and I'd like to share them with the community. There are quite a few on my list as it has been compiled over some years. 3. I was going to paint this and decided to do ti in affinity Designer instead. I think I managed to get a natural looking lighting which was very satisfying.
Danke! Hello everyone, I am creating plans and graphics for digital presentations (architecture). The following problem occured: I set the desired colors in Affinity Designer with the HEX code. When I export the graphic, it is always exported with more gaudy colors than actually set. I need PNG, JPEG and PDF formats. With all formats, with all conceivable settings I have already tried around. The program, the document and in the export have the same RGB settings and ICC profiles. For a while, the setting Recalculate: Lanczos 3 brought out the desired color when exporting as a PNG file. Oddly enough, even that only works once in a while. Since I don't know much about color settings and ICC profiles, I hope someone here can help me out! Attached is a screenshot from Affinity Designer (using the Windows desktop app) and a sample of the exported graphic. The colors I wanted were: 000000 (black), AED9E0 (light blue) and D36135 (red). Out came black, AED9E2 and D76436. I would be happy if someone recognizes my problem and helps me! Thanks!
  5. These are images of buildings from my birthplace, the city of Kiel - photos from which I isolated certain parts, then reconstructed some of the missing elements as 3D renderings. Affinity Photo did the heavy lifting when it came to compositing, color correction and matching the photos with the 3D parts. Please see https://www.behance.net/gallery/108164363/Kiel-Fragments for a detailed project description.
  6. Hey experienced users, Is there a possibility to scale distances ? e.g. I want to draw a line of 5m on a A4 size document ? and while I'm asking: is it possible to have measuring lines on the drawing? e.g. for that line of 5m, drawed at scale 1/250 (20cm) but the measuring line would indicate 5m ? Thx Karel
  7. Dear all, I am a complete novice and would like to learn how to draw interior architecture plans with this Mac app. My aim is to make a 3D (interactive?) designs of a new interior I would like to create for a building. I would very much appreciate if someone could give me some tips. Many thanks! Best, H
  8. SketchUp now has a series of "Learn" videos which can be accessed directly from within their apps. https://learn.sketchup.com/track/rendering-sketchup-photoshop There is a very large SketchUp user-base of architects. SketchUp models can be export to bitmap based files; specific rendering styles can be used saved in SketchUp to individual scenes (pages) each of which, in turn, can be exported. The Learn videos describe the process of post processing the exported files in PhotoShop. I have talked with architects at a recent SketchUp conference (Base Camp 2019) who are self employed or belong to a very small firm. They have limited resources and prefer not to rely upon Adobe products. They could very well be interested AffintyPhoto for doing their post processing tasks. I am not a PhotoShop user, but I assume everything shown in the Learn videos can be done in AfffinityPhoto. I was wondering if the SketchUp Learn videos could be looked at by the folks at Affinty and an AffinityPhoto video be created which would show how AffinityPhoto could be used instead ... and perhaps be easier to use? Regards, John
  9. Hello guys, first post here. I want to show you couple of 3d renderings I've done recently. I used Affinity Photo to make postproduction work. In my opinion Photo is pretty neat! There are some small things that will be nice to incorporate in future versions in order to speed the postwork process in 3d, but i think Photo is full equivalent of PS. Here are some images i did: Thanks!
  10. I thought I would share my first Affinity Designer project here after the staff were so helpful with a few issues I had... I work for a school and we needed to put together a plan for a playground development idea we had, knowing that my prefered software Illustrator was out our budget I opted for Affinity Designer. I had to approach things slightly differently but I am now more than happy using AD for any project that will require vector artwork at work. The software was easy to get to grips with, the staff on this forum have been very helpful too (thanks guys and girls ). Below are the development plans we created with Affinity...
  11. An entry design for an architectural competition. The illustration was made in AD, with some texture tweaks in AP. The whole project is here.
  12. Hi there. I have to do several floor plans for an architectural firm, I would like to know where can I find resources, free or commercial, for such kind of designs. Thanks!
  13. Hi, this semester I used for the first time Designer for my final presentation posters in university. The site plan and the sections are drawn with Vectorworks (CAD software) and exportet as PDF for Designer. I was delighted how easy it was to adjust colors and line width of the vector parts and just switch to pixel persona for some nice background textures. I used Photo to add the diffuse fade out on the edges of the site plan. I handled the drawings as individual files and embeded them directly into the final layout file. Only the site plan was to heavy to handle for my late 2011 MPB and so i had to export and embend it as a tiff file. Maybe the size (DIN A0@300dpi) and the live blur filter could be an explanation for this ;) Feedback welcome! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13340316/RundgangAffinity.pdf(~34mb)
  14. Attached is my first Affinity Photo project. I made a rendering using Rhinoceros w/ Vray plug-in. The post production was all done in Affinity Photo. Things I had issues with or am working on : - Panoramic Tool? I had to use GIMP. - Skew / Image Perspective tool? Has this been added? - Grass brush? Where is it? - The lasso tool is a bit odd for me, still. I can't get the hang of it. Adobe's was more user friendly. - The wand tool is choppy, regardless of how much time I spent changing parameters. I don't have time to select everything with the lasso. All in all, awesome work Affinity Team! The interface is really nice. I am still learning and am excited to watch this develop.
  15. Hi, I am trying to find a tutorial which might help me with improving or removing curved distortion in architecture images taken with a wide angle lens or composed with assembling several images as a panorama. Does one exist? Thanks.
