  1. I have added Affinity Photo as an extension in Apple Photos. When using Apple Photos, I am able to switch to the Affinity Photo extension and continue editing in Affinity Photo. After editing in Affinity, I close and save the document to return to Apple Photos. The edited photo is then displayed on Apple Photos But when I click 'Save Changes' in Apple Photos, I get the error: Has anyone encountered and fixed this error? fixed in Apple Photos and/or Affinity Photo? Thanks for any help.
  2. From Apple Photos I would like to use various extensions, but the only one that appears is to edit in Affinity Photo 2. I clicked the Circle ellipsis, gone into System Settings, and also tried to add extenstions in Affinity Photo 2 settings. No options to check or change appear. What is the secret to making this work with macOS 13.0.1 (22A400) ?
  3. Good morning, after I did some tests with Affinity Photo on my iMac I decided to wait for the new iPad Version. Bought now Affinity Photo for iPad and a new 12,9" iPad Pro :-) However, I´m missing the Support to edit Photos from within the Apple Photos App using the Extension function. Also when using Affinity Photos and opening photos from Apples Photos (iCloud) from the App there is only a very small PopUp to open a photo. Hopefully there will be a better / bigger overview in the future. I´m handling all my photos with Apples Photo App (>40k photos) and it will be tricky to find a photo Please integreate the function to "overwrite" an already existing photo with the edited one keeping the possibility to reset changes later on. This was one of the most interesting functions for me using Affinity Photo on my iMac as I don´t need to Keep duplicates (edited and non edited Versions) Hope I could make clear what I´m missing and looking forward for your comments and hopefully improvements with the next update. Thx., Michael
  4. When I edit in Affinity from the Apple Photos edit screen the returned image is dark and excessively contrasty. I have tried reinstalling Affinity and it works normally for a few times. When I return to the application on a second occasion the fault arises again. This was happening with the previous version of Catalina but was fixed. It has resurfaced with the latest apple update. I attach the original raw file and a copy of the returned file DSC00057.arw
  5. Disappointed, not surprised, cannot Edit In Apple Photo and Save 1.8.4. Five Stars for longevity award.
  6. Since today, using Affinity Photo 1.8.3, Affinity Developer doesn't work with its Apple Photos plug-in. The picture file (ORF RAW) can open in Affinity Developer, changes can be made, but when restoring back in Apple Photos following message appear: "Editing with 'Affinity Develop' not possible. An unexpected error has occurred." Please provide a solution. Thanks in Advance. 45/5000
  7. I keep getting an error when using the extension in photo.app. I am using Affinity photo 1.8.3 on Macbook pro 10.15.6. Also I have attached screen shots to help with figuring out this bug. Also Note I have purchased the App Store I bought it directly from your website. If that matters.
  8. Over the last couple of days I have been trying out the latest version of Quark that I have been really enjoying using (2017 is the only version I have used.) To me it seems like this is going to be a very hard area for Serif to compete in given that there are two products that many are happy with that have been advancing since the 1980s (or at least there are people that are happy with one of those two options.) Even if Publisher was out today it would still have a massive challenge in competing with these two options especially at Quark's new low $400 entry price (and yes that is low for a product of that level.) To me it seems like Lightroom like products would be so much easier to compete with due to the fact that it is a field that is only about ten years old and still has a lot of room to grow. I still have several major grips with LR and also the way that Affinity Photo interacts with catalog software like Apple Photos. It just seems like the more logical step to me. I think the fact that LR is the one app that hasn't not yet been subscription only shows that Adobe is aware that customers could easily move off this product to a competitor more easily then many other more well established products.
  9. Affinity Photo (1.8.3) after developing and editing a RAW (Olympus ORF) file is restored too dark. The saved PNG file by Affinity Photo is ok. See attached example. Please provide a solution. Thanks in Advance.
  10. I must be missing the boat on the trip. I have Templates and they work perfectly with Place photos from internal/external hard drives. My problem is I cannot figure out how to navigate to Apple Photos to select picture to Place in Templates. MacOS, Catalina when I go to pictures, the Apple Photos is grayed out. Thank you for any assistance.
  11. I think someone should reopen this thread for AP 1.8 and Apple Photos round trip Edit In/With and Save. Yes I realize it was not listed in the announced release notes: however, update of projected fix would be appreciated. Thank you. Please don't shoot the messenger.
  12. When I use the Affinity Photo extension in Apple Photos, I get this message: "16MB change limit exceeded -- document will be flattened." This topic was raised in the forum a couple of years ago and some workarounds were suggested. However, nobody explained what "flattened" means. I'm using a 27-inch, 5K display, and I can't see the difference before and after the flattening. What exactly do I lose if I let Photos flatten the image?
  13. I have opened windows of photos in Affinity Photo that I want to combine in an HDR image. How can I add these open windows directly to a new HDR merge? When I select a few photos in the desktop Mac Photos with the Affinity Photo plugin extension, Affinity Photos opens with windows for the selected photos open. However, when I select new HDR merge, I can't find the photos already open in Affinity Photo to add to the HDR merge and I can't enter the Mac Photos Library through the HDR merge window's "add" button. My tedious work around has been to export the selected photos from Mac Photos to a separate folder and then add the exported files to a new HDR merge, then after creating a new HDR image in Affinity Photos, import it back into Mac Photos. The whole process uses my time and storage very inefficiently and defeats the whole purpose of the Affinity plugin for Mac Photos, so there must be a better way that I haven't been able to discover. I look forward to your guidance in using the Photos plugin to efficiently create HDR images.
  14. How/where/what format does AP save edited RAW images from Apple Photos database? This includes both photos editing as an extension and using the Image > Edit with command. My concerns are the ever-increasing size of my local Apple Photos database and the syncing to other devices in the Cloud, and of course the Cloud size requirements. Based on this information I hope to calculate my photo storage growth needs then determine if it can be sustained "as is" or if I'll need to find another solution. Thanks
  15. hello all, I am using Apple photo to store the library of my photos. Apple Photo is my starting point from where I open the raw file and the developing of this file is done in Affinity photo. After developing and further editing the raw file in Affinity Photo I am saving back towards Apple Photos. However, after doing this the raw file is no longer available or accessible in Apple Photo. What I am doing wrong as I would also like to keep the original raw file in Apple Photos? regards, Yves
  16. I have started by using affinity free trial as extensions to Apple Photos running under High Sierra. After purchasing Affinity Photo, I had to delete the free trial application. But all extensions appears in double in Apple Photos (probably once for the free trial version, that exists no more on my MacBook Air, and once for the official paid version of Affinity). How can I remove from the Apple Photo display the extensions that are linked to the free trial version of Affinity ? It is not a blocking issue but it is very annoying to have these double entries... I have tried to capture a screen shot, but Apple Capture won't take a picture of the Apple Photos screen WITH the extension call activated :-( Thanks in advance for the assistance ! Dominique
  17. This is a repost - I posted earlier in bugs, but this forum seems more appropriate... How to make "Round-trip" edits from Apple Photos to Affinity Photo and back again: In AP, open the desired Apple Photos image via the media browser (scroll down left hand side bar in "open..." dialogue until you see the Photos "Camera" icon, then select that, then navigate to your image for editing) Note 1: if you double click here to select a photo for editing, it will not open in AP! - this may be a bug. But if you single-click (select) the desired photo then click the "open..." button, it will open in AP, ready for editing. Edit away in AP. When done editing, to save back into Apple Photos, just hit "Save...". The photo will be saved in its original file type on top of (overwriting) the original in the Apple Photos Library. You may also want to save a copy in Affinity Photo format to your desktop, just for safety. BUT! Apple Photos will not yet know the photo has been edited, and will display a proxy image of the unedited original. Don't despair. To quickly rectify this, find and select the image within Apple Photos that you just edited in Affinity, now click the "Edit..." button. Suddenly your Affinity edits will appear, and you can now cancel out of the edit mode in Apple Photos. Ta Da. There is the edited image in Apple Photos. Note 2: If you try to "Save As..." from Affinity then you cannot navigate to the media browser. So you must "Save...". Note 3: You may want to duplicate your photo first in Apple Photos before editing in Affinity, in case you want to save the original. Not sure if this will always work as sometime duplicates are only proxies of the original in Apple Photos. Note 4: Affinity lets you "Save Editing History" but haven't tested if this works via the round trip method above. You're welcome.
  18. I keep getting this error when I save a file from within affinity that was opened in Apple Photos. When this comes up it deletes all the work I did in my edit! Why does this happen? It is a very frequent error. It says it failed to save since it was already open in another app but opening the photo in Apple Photos is the only way to get to the editing extension. I am very confused as to why this keeps happening.
  19. Hello There are pictures that recorded jpeg and raw at the same time in Apple Photos. Do not you know how to open Apple Photos raw files from Affinity Photo? Thank you.
  20. Minimum requirements: Affinity Photo 1.4 and Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.1) To enhance the photo editing capabilities of your Apple Photos application, Affinity Photo makes available a series of ready-to-go extensions: · Develop: for processing raw images · Haze Removal: for removal of misting · Liquify: for image warping · Miniature: for depth of field effects · Monochrome: for black and white effects · Retouch: for traditional brush tools, red eye removal, inpainting, and sharpening Installing Affinity Photo makes the extensions appear in Photos, which can be selectively disabled if needed. As good practice, we do recommend launching Affinity Photo before using Apple Photos. To find out more, watch the Extensions for Apple Photos VideoTutorial. Best wishes Affinity documentation
  21. Hello, By executing the following steps: Import an Adobe RGB jpeg picture in Apple Photos, Edit the photo through the Affinity Photo extension "Edit in Affinity Photo" AP does not identify the color profile and it assigns the default one. If I simply open the picture with AP, the color profile it's managed correctly. Does Apple Photos purge the color profile data? Is there any other way to edit the file directly without using the "External Editors" extension? Thank you
  22. Today I went to Apple Photo to try to edit a photo I had been working on in Affinity but when it opened up all my changes were gone. Then the photo changed to a different photo in Apple Photo. In other words the same photo is showing up Apple Photo twice and one photo disappeared almost entirely. I would go to Time Machine to restore that old version of photo that somehow got messed up. But I don't know how to do that. I can't find that option in Apple Photos. Please help!
  23. Usually all my Affinity changes show up in Apple Photos but when I go to make further edits in Affinity all the changes get lost. Is this happening to anyone else? Is this a bug? It almost seems like I should just edit all my photos from the Finder since it doesn't look like the Apple Photo to Affinity Photo "edit in" feature is working. Frustrating. The layers usually get flattened when exiting from Affinity but does that mean I can't go back and keep the look of the edits I just did? That doesn't make sense to me.
  24. Hi, there! I'm curious to know if there is a way to customize how Affinity Photo shares to Apple Photos. Under the option, Share, in the File menu, you can choose to Add to Photos. The default will export the edited version of the image as JPEG with all metadata stripped. I would like to export as PNG with metadata included, without the added step of exporting out of Affinity and then importing into Photos.
  25. Hey, Another one from Affinity TV. This we take a look at how you can use a new extension which enables you to store your pictures inside of Apple Photos edit in Affinity Photo and have those changes automatically save back for you. Something we haven't been able to do since iPhoto got replaced with Photos. So, excited about this one because of that. We also take a look at how you can use the Smart Albums inside the app to organise your pictures. Using Apple Photos with Affinity Photo Tutorial Enjoy, Allan
