  1. Unfortunately we have discovered a bug with AMD's OpenCL driver in the AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and above graphics cards. This has been reported to AMD, and while we wait on a solution, we have blocked these cards from enabling hardware acceleration. We hope this will be a temporary change, but unfortunately we can't give estimates on when it's likely to be fixed. There is no need to downgrade from 1.9.1 to 1.8.5, as the software-only performance will be the same between these two versions. Thanks for your patience.
  2. While editing files in Designer v. 1.10.4.1198 the system suddenly shuts down. I am using a PC with the AMD Ryzen 4900H hardware and Windows 11 Pto. The application is more unstable when working with embedded bitmaps. It is more stable working with files on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. I am using the most recent AMD drivers for my system. I tried disabling OpenCL acceleration for AMD Radeon Graphics. Any workarounds or fixes would be appreciated.
  3. Since the release of 1.9.0, we have become aware of performance problems for owners of AMD Radeon RX graphics cards. This is due to the new hardware acceleration feature which is enabled by default in 1.9.0. We are actively investigating this problem, but while we do this, we recommend trying Photo with Hardware Acceleration disabled (in Preferences | Performance). We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we investigate. If you are experiencing these performance problems, and you do have an AMD Radeon RX graphics card, please could you go to Help | Benchmark, then press Run Benchmark, and take a screenshot of the results, and post them to this thread (there is no need to record a benchmark with OpenCL disabled). Alternatively just reply with the exact model of graphics card that you're using. There is no need to make additional threads in the forum describing performance problems if you have an AMD Radeon RX, and you still have Hardware Acceleration enabled. Any descriptions of the performance problems that you are seeing would also be useful. Thanks again.
  4. I recently purchased an AMD Radeon Pro w5500. This is from AMD's "workstation" line of cards (the blue ones). In theory, these GPUs are tweaked in such a way that they should be optimized for "workstation"-esque activities, whatever those are—rendering video, maybe? At any rate, I'm not a gamer, and I wanted to go with AMD, so I figured the Radeon Pro was the direction to go in. Fast forward a few months... For whatever reason(s), the GPU routinely crashes. Like, a lot. I've had to turn off gpu acceleration in Affinity settings. I'm about to ship the card back to AMD for a replacement, but I'm not convinced that will solve my problems. So, I wondering if any forum users might have a recommendation for a card that works particularly well with Affinity programs. I'm a bit scared of AMD now and am considering some variant of the RTX 3080. But I'm open to whatever is best. As an aside, any other Radeon Pro (on Windows) users here? Have you had similar issues? Thanks! Chris
  5. Due to performance related issues with AMD GPU drivers, our developers decided to disable Hardware Acceleration for AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and later cards in the 1.9.1 update. We've notified AMD of the issue and we're awaiting their response. More information can be found in the below thread - Update -
  6. What would be a reasonable laptop to buy?
  7. Recently I have not been able to see the document that I am working on or any of the following at the same time: * Toolbar * Tools * Context Toolbar *Studio I can tab to toggle the UI on and off. When UI is off and I can see the document if I use the View menu to see any of the above then the document disappears from view. I have tried resetting all the default but this does not solve the problem. I have the same problem with the beta version. I am running Windows 10.and experienced other problems (with restarting) after Windows updates were installed on 12-13 September; the latest Windows update has fixed this.. This may be a coincidence but AP worked fine before (I am not sure of the exact date but certainly after 1 September). After the Windows updates I did not try AP until a couple of days ago. Have I accidentally changed something? Has anyone else ever had the same problem? Update 30/09/2017 I have found the cause of the problem as the settings for AMD Radeon™ R5 Graphics card. The drivers for this card were updated with the Windows updates and the new driver appears to have either caused the problem or changed the settings. The setting for the Affinity Photo now default to "Unassigned". If I change these to "Power Saving" the problem disappears when I restart AP but reappear if I select any other setting.
  8. Hello Affinity, just tried to install Affinity Photo on a PC with an AMD Opteron 180 CPU. This CPU is a 64 Bit CPU, nevertheless I can't install Affinity Photo because "no 64 Bit CPU was detected" Is there a known limitation with AMD processors? In the Q&A I could not find a hint... Thanks for your answer Regards, Holger
