  1. [ENG] Hello, I hope you can help me or give me a hint. In Affinity Designer I rely on forcing perfect alignments, which unfortunately doesn't work with the magnetic tools. In the example, element "red" is docked or anchored to element green. If I now use an extreme zoom level (3900000%) then you can see that there is a large distance to the "green" element, which I have to correct by hand. At the latest in the case of fine lines with a background, the distance during export is noticeable. How do I get the alignment better? The magnetic alignment is activated (tolerance 3; pixel perfect) Do you have an idea? Thank you very much! Vielen Dank!
  2. For some reason today, my brush and pen will not align and is off axis (see photo). I am using a basic mouse). I do not recall what may have occurred to start this but it was working fine until today. I even tried updating to the new version 1.9.0.932 hoping that would correct the issue but it did not. Also, it appears that the brush is locked on some sort of "virtual" center point. For example at a point in the document, the brush aligns as normal, but the further away the brush is moved from that fixed point, the further away the brush becomes aligned with its marker, including direction. For example if I start at the point of alignment and move my brush marker north, the ACTUAL brush starts to move south of the brush marker. Conversely if I move the brush marker south, the actual brush starts to move north of the brush marker. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I've had Affinity for about a week now and as an /affordable/ piece of software, I am loving it. Also bringing back memories of work experience several years ago at Wilford industrial estate... ;) but anyway, on to the problem.... Having a little bit of trouble with the full justify option - it just doesn't do anything attractive for my layout at all. Expecting it to space out my words nicely stretching across the full width of the frame and instead it's just adding a massive gap between the last two in the text frame! Not sure if there are settings to correct this or if the tool simply doesn't work as expected. Can anyone clarify what's going on with this one? Thanks.
  4. Hi, Potentially a defect but more than happy to eat humble pie if I'm mistaken. When I print the attached Published document, scan of print also attached, the font alignment and sizing is way off what was shown on screen. Is it me or is there a problem here? Thanks, Jon C WW2_Great_Grandad.afpub
  5. Issue/situation: In Publisher I've created a bullet list, but I am not sure how to keep a multi-line bullet-point indent so it aligns with the other entries. Question: Which settings do I need to change to make a multiline entry align with the other entries? Screenshots: See attached screenshot of the issue and my bullet point settings. Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.6 Affinity Photo: Version 1.8.4 Unusual hardware: Wacom tablet Intuos pro Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another.
  6. Hi all, I'm struggling to get to grips with the alignment options in Affinity Designer for text elements. The space vertically option spaces them out based on the pixel bounds, not the baselines. This results in text that is unevenly spaced if some have descending/ascending characters. I have attached a (very rough) image that shows the behaviour from Illustrator (yep, sorry about that) and the same setup in Designer. The left text is pre-alignment, the right is post. As you can see, Illustrator spaces out the baselines (as you would want for text), and Designer works off the pixel bounds giving an unnatural spacing. I've tried playing around with the text baseline settings, and all of the options on the alignment menu but it has me stumped. I'm very new to Designer so I'm probably missing something obvious, hopefully someone can point out what it is! Thanks, Barry
  7. Hi, I just purchased your complete Affinity series and am really happy with it so far. Although I just started working with it yesterday But I already encountered some small problems I can't solve myself. My most important question so far is about the alignment function. As a previous Adobe user I am used to be able to align two objects while one is staying in place. Using Affinity Designer I can't find a way to do that. Whenever I want to align two or more objects they all move and meet up in "the middle". With Adobe I was able to select multiple objects, then release the [Shift]-Key and klick on one of the selected objects. That object would then stay in it's place while all the other selected objects would align with it after clicking one of the [align]-buttons. Is there a way to do the same thing in Affinity Designer? Thank you very much in advance. Cheers, Michael
  8. Please tell me why the alignment choice is not available for me. I need to align on the last object, but now it is not available. Before the update, this worked. Thanks!
  9. Hi all, I am using the whole suit of Affinity desktop currently, I would know how to center my layer between two curve. I know I can align them with the alignment tool but it seems the alignment tool take account of the whole box to makes its calculus. How can I ensure only the curve line drawed is take into account to calculate the alignment to operate? You will find more informations in the joined picture. thanks.
  10. Each Affinity software has alignment option which is great. But it'd be much better if we can have a separate panel for it which we can dock anywhere as we wish. Currently we've to click on the alignment icon each and every time when we need it, and that's kind of boring. What do you think friends?
  11. I've been taking a for-the-beginner online class in Affinity Publisher and have been following the presenter's suggestions about holding down Shift as I drag an object within a document, until the object reaches the center of the document. Then a colored guideline appears temporarily and I can snap the object to it. This works well if I'm moving objects vertically but not so well if I'm moving them horizontally. It's very easy—far too easy—for them to jump suddenly upward or downward during the horizontal moves. So when I ran across the Align Center and Align Middle controls in objects' context menus, I decided to start using those controls instead for precision. I have the feeling that if anything using the Wacom pen would be even less precise for this purpose than using a mouse. • Is there a command that permits you to center an object both horizontally and vertically in a single stroke, as it were? As I go through the class exercises I'm finding I need to do it often enough that a single command, handling both positioning commands at once, would be super-convenient. • Is there a way rapidly to center an object within another object without having to use the mouse? I've tried using the keyboard to "nudge" objects, but I find that when I do this, there's no visual feedback that I can see—no temporary guidelines that appear to mark centers or edges of objects (nor guidelines that appear to indicate the vertical or horizontal centers of the document itself).
  12. Hello, I am creating this presentation but the text doesn't not get center aligned in the text box. I have attached the file and the video. Am I doing something wrong ? Thank you, Affinity-Publisher-Center-Align.mp4 text-center.afpub
  13. Hello, I am wokring on my UX project and I created these diagrams. however, I cannot center elements in the irregular shapes. The bounding box does not allow centering elements. Please watch the video. Is it a bug or how can I center elements to irregular shapes ? Thank you alignment.mp4
  14. Hey, everyone. Just started the process of switching over to Affinity Designer after 10+ years in Adobe, and had a question. I've looked through the forums and read the Affinity Help sections on alignment, but couldn't find an answer one way or the other. Basically, is there a way to have my selected options in the Alignment Panel apply to the row of Alignment buttons? If I use the Alignment Panel, then it works like I'm expecting: select the circle first, and the square moves into alignment. But when I select the circle first, and click the same alignment button without first going into the alignment panel, then the circle moves to align to the object furthest to the left (see attached video for a demonstration). Is there any way to make the setting I've chosen in the Alignment Panel ('align to first selected') apply to the rest of the alignment buttons, or does that chosen setting only work from within the panel? Cheers. AffinityDesigner_AlignmentRecording.mp4
  15. I discovered this while trying to align individual nodes on multiple paths today. The simplest case to reproduce is as follows: Draw 3 overlapping paths with three 'sharp' nodes each: Start, (approx) middle and end. Using the Node tool, select the middle nodes of each path Choose Align Horizontally: Center and Align Vertically: Center Observe the center points. Depending on the starting positions of the nodes, they may now be curved instead of sharp, and oddly curved when viewed up close. In this case, I would expect the nodes to stay the same type (sharp to stay sharp, curved to stay curved). The strange curved behaviour seen in panel 3 attached seems especially wrong though, and currently means I can't use the align tool for this job. Let me know if I can provide any more info. Thanks!
  16. Dear developers, I have a problem with hyphenation: if I set Column end zone to big value, then I get a hole on end of column, but text set to Justify Left alignment. Need correct this hole, because I cannot align to right frame.
  17. The move from beta to open has been very smooth for me... aside from this one issue. Before, when I set text in a cell of a table to be Vertically Aligned Center, it was actually in the center of the cell. Now, it acts like there's 'space after' that it needs to account for. I've checked all my settings and I cannot figure out why it's doing this. I've included examples of the same cell text being aligned top, middle, and bottom. As you can see, the middle is not actually centered, but the top and bottom alignments are fine. I've even checked the text formatting of this cell and I don't see why it should be doing this weird thing with Aligned Center. Any idea what's causing this? My current workaround is manually doing this with cell inset measurements... but some of my cells have more than 1 line of text, so the adjustment has to be made row by row. :-(
  18. Hi there! It might be me missing something, but I am in trouble to allign two elements centered: 1. Create a new document. 2. Place a photo in the background and switch to photo persona afterwards. 3. Apply a gaussian blur (live filter) to it and move the filter in the layers panel on top of the photo. 4. Create a text box and type some text. 5. Create a solid rectangle of any colour below the text but on top of the blur filter. 6. Right-click on the rectangle and select "mask to below" in the context menu. 7. Switch back to publisher persona and move the text box to a different position. 8. Select the text box as well as the clipped blur filter and apply "allign center" and "align middle". Unfortunately both text and clipped blur filter end up positioned randomly on the page (see video). alignment-issue.mp4
  19. HI Affinity team I was designing the UX for a product that uses 128 x 64 LCD. I've created several 128 x 64 artboards in 1200 x 1318 environment and found when in export persona, some of the export slices can't be cut exactly into 128 x 64. The slices have white bleed pixels either happening on the top/bottom or the left/right edge. I went into zoom-in mode to check the edge, moving the selection by arrow key on the keyboard, I found I couldn't align the selection precisely to align with the artboard, no matter how I play with it. e.g. out the box 02, typical reading 03 can't be aligned. Please help explaining why is that. thank you Frank UX Forum.afdesign
  20. Hello, I am just creating the master pages and paragraph styles of a book, that I have produced in Indesign and imported via a PDF file. When ever I try to create a paragraph style for the pagination with the alignment "towards binding" (sorry, I don’t know the exact term in English, in German it’s called "Zum Rücken hin"), Publisher 1.7.1 is crashing. I hope, you’ll find a fast solution! Thanks a lot in advance Karl
  21. I am preparing a book of A6 size where each page has one paragraph of a few lines (5 to 10 lines as in a Quotes book). I want each page's paragraph to be Vertically centered in that page (frame). At present I have to do for each paragraph separately. Is it possible to add this feature to the existing style of a paragraph so that I select a para and click on the style to align the para vertically on the page?
  22. Suppper duppper updates.. You gurus are awesome... I've been looking many things, and I found now in Affinity Designer. Specially.. nodes transforms... Point Transform tool.. The Isometric layout,,, are you kidding???? There would definitely be a lot more.. But i'd been looking for these. I will explore all . Thank you Affinity Devs..
  23. See screen shot. Using the Box style "as is" the frame is always not aligned to the actual text "frame". As you move the handles on the frame, the "box" underneath moves in unexpected ways due to the alignment problem. The most significant problem is centering. Since the centering is based on the outside frame, the inner "box" is not aligned properly. It is a bit difficult to work with it as is.
  24. If I change the DPI of the documente, the text alignment and the text size of the master pages also change only in the child pages.
