  1. Created in Designer, applied the noise filter in Photo.
  2. Bristol Beaufort N-AW, of 42 Squadron RAF.
  3. Not been drawing for a while so thought I'd update the Thunderbolt II to celebrate 100 Years of Indiana ANG. The Mig 29 was inspired by the stories of the Ghost of Kiev. Seemingly now debunked by the Ukrainian AF, but still a good story.
  4. I love the aircraft from between the wars, they experimented and tried all kinds of airframes and paved the way for the aircraft we see today. One of those was the De Havilland DH 88 Comet. Three of these thoroughbreads were built for the 1934 air race from England to Australia. All done in Designer and Photo with oodles of Perlin noise in the background.
  5. Fairchild Thunderbolt II of the 122nd Fighter Wing, 'The Black Snakes' of the Indiana Air National Guard. This is an update to my previous raster version and I'm pleased with the improvement.
  6. First attempt at a more technical illustration... The Globe Swift.
  7. Combining three of my aircraft, bit of an experiment.
  8. Here's a couple more that I've just about finished. Still learning the lessons; don't know if I'll ever finish learning!!! Lancaster of 207 Squadron and Hurricane of 85 Squadron.
  9. Red Bull not only have a pristine P38, they have, among other fantastic aircraft, a very shineeee Vought F4U Corsair. Somehow I just love the Corsair. Can you imagine in the board room of Voght....: "Hi guys, I have this big-assed engine on mah truck.... make it fly!" "Ok boss, what kind of armament do you require?" "Yes!" Done in Designer and finished up in Photo, the clouds are a mix of cloudbrushes and perlin noise, all hail the perlin noise.
  10. Well here's No.2, hopefully learning from the mistakes I made on No1. But still a lot to take in. I couldn't start my vector collection properly until I had a Spitfire included!!
  11. I´m quite enjoying creating these bi-planes in Affinity, keeping track of the layers is challenging though.
  12. Albatross Sky. I have always wanted to try my hand on a Albatros DV, but the difficulty of the lozenge camouflage put me off, but seeing that I have time on my hands right now I though: "why not?" To say that there are a few layers is an understatement, I stopped counting somewhere between four and five hundred. I am however quite pleased with finding a way to create woodgrain without a chrome filter
  13. Unemployed thanks to Corvid means that I have a lot of time on my hands. A few years back I took a picture of Nooky Booky IV at the Hahnweide Airshow and always wanted to do the drawing. The background is a composite of five pictures, the last one from Jesenwang airstrip taken this afternoon. The shading took ages and the heavy file almost melted my mac mini to cinders, but I think I got it right, what do you think?
  14. A little fun project to stave the boredom away. This pretty little WACO is stationed in Rheineck at the Altenrhein flying museum in Switzerland. It´s artwork from a picture I took a few weeks back and it was 2D´d in Affinity Designer. The clouds are a mixture of Cloud brushes and Perlin noise in Affinity Photo. All hail the Perlin noise.
  15. In my humble opinion the Bugatti 100P was the most beautiful airplane never built. Ettore Bugatti´s 100P was built as an unlimited racer in 1939 and was not completed by the outbreak of the war. It remained in storage until 1971 when it was restored. In 2016 a replica sadly crashed killing the pilot.
  16. Hi Affinity Community. My new personal work made with Affinity Designer. I hope you like it. More work in progress pictures: Old Wings
  17. First of the new series. Supermarine Spitfire Mk9
  18. So, with these three the Harrier, Buccaneer and Canberra I have illustrated all the aircraft of my early years in the RAF.
  19. Doing a new series of illustrations of Cold War British Military Aircraft: These are three of the early Fighters that kept the Russian Bombers out of UK airspace: Cold War Fighters.afdesign
