  1. If you have macOS Monterey, Big Sur or macOS Catalina you may notice that our apps are taking 20+ secs to launch after starting your Mac from cold or after rebooting your Mac. However, subsequent launches should be fine. This issue has been logged with our developers but a workaround can be found here.
  2. It would be great addition to the suite if while using any slider (on mousedown event): Pressing Opt/Alt interactively decreased granularity for larger increments Pressing Shift interactively increased granularity for finer increments User can change these in Prefs > Shortcuts Thanks for your consideration and all you do!
  3. Hello Community! Question regarding fill layers, selection marquee and masks (in all applications of the suite, but especially in Photo due to my workflow in that app): I often find myself in a situation where I already have an active selection marquee and need to create a fill layer to which I want to apply this selection as a mask. Way to replicate this: With an active selection marquee, navigate to Layer → New Fill Layer. Click on New Fill Layer – the active selection marquee is now gone and an invisible, inaccessible, non-editable mask (?) is created/applied to the fill layer. (Unless I'm missing something). Question: How can I access this mask/delete the automatically generated invisible »mask«? Is there any way to change this behaviour? The Affinity Help mentions nothing about it. And yes, I know there are a few workarounds for this. 😉 For example, plan ahead and create the fill layer first, or select the newly generated fill layer with the invisible mask and convert it into a regular mask, and so on. But this is not always so easy and costs at least a few extra steps that I would like to save myself. Expected behaviour: I would rather have the selection converted and applied as a normal mask to the fill layer or remain an active selection. Cheers and happy weekend Dennis
  4. Hi, Currently, the only way to blend objects in Affinity is to use the gradient tool and copy object 1000 times. A dedicated Blend Tool would simplify this process and save time for users. Current method: Suggested (like Xara Designer or Adobe Illustrator):
  5. Hi, Aplogies if this is more sraightforward than I am making it, I just want to use the best method going forwards. I am using Affinity Publisher to create invoices and I have a template that I use and update with each new invoice before exporting a new PDF file. As I would like to save a version of each invoice pre-export, so that I can revisit and edit if needed, I just wanted to ask what the best way to save each versions of these files would be. I know that I could just save a new .af file with each invoice, but just wanted to see if there is a better way, or one that keeps all versions within one file. I have entertained the following options; different sections/pages within Publisher, renaming layers to match each invoice, artboards for each invoice, snapshots. Which way would be best? Is there a way to archive pages and/or have section names clearly displayed in the pages panel in Publisher. Thank you for any advice. Jack
  6. When using the transform panel to select a point of origin for scaling, etc., the selected or active point isn't highlighted correctly. The top/left default is larger and solid white, but when you select any other point, the size of the point changes, but not the color. I believe the expected behavior is that both the size and color would change to indicate the selected origin, and that would work. However, I would love it if the highlight color (used here and other parts of the UI) was user selectable in settings. Hopefully this isn't a re-post; searched, didn't find the same issue. Thanks. Affects: v2 and beta, all three apps OS: Windows 11 (22H2, 16GB RAM, 11 Gen i7) Hardware Acceleration: Enabled (no change without)
  7. Affinity Photo, Designer & Publisher V2 apps now use a shared location for your saved resources, including; Object Styles, Text Styles, Fills, Brushes, Tool Presets, Grid Presets, Assets & Document Presets. These can be found in the following locations - Windows (2.1 onwards): Affinity Store (MSIX) & Windows Store: %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Common\2.0\user\ Affinity Store (EXE) : %appdata%\Affinity\Common\2.0\user\ macOS: ~/Library/Group Containers/6LVTQB9699.com.seriflabs/v2/user/ Preferences for the Affinity apps are found in separate folders for each application, and vary depending on the installation method of the Affinity app or the OS version. These can be found in the following locations - Windows (2.1 onwards): Affinity Store (MSIX) & Windows Store: Photo - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Photo\2.0\Settings\ Designer - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Designer\2.0\Settings\ Publisher - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Publisher\2.0\Settings\ Affinity Store (EXE) : Photo - %appdata%\Affinity\Photo\2.0\Settings\ Designer - %appdata%\Affinity\Designer\2.0\Settings\ Publisher - %appdata%\Affinity\Publisher\2.0\Settings\ macOS: Affinity Store (DMG): Photo - ~/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.plist Designer - ~/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2.plist Publisher - ~/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2.plist Mac App Store (macOS Catalina 10.15): Affinity Photo - ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.plist Affinity Designer - ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2.plist Affinity Publisher - ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2.plist Mac App Store (macOS Big Sur 11 & later): Affinity Photo - ~/Library/Containers/Affinity Photo 2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.plist Affinity Designer - ~/Library/Containers/Affinity Designer 2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner2.plist Affinity Publisher - ~/Library/Containers/Affinity Publisher 2/Data/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2.plist
  8. I am currently a V1 user of Publisher and my 30-day trial expired for V2 suite of Affinity apps after the month of release date. Unless I overlooked or missed something, has there been an addition of customization for output (exported) files? It has been a longtime pet-peeve of mine that I absolutely abhor underscores (_) in filenames and usernames on the internet. Normally an underscore is used in the Affinity suite of apps for preexisting string names in the file nomenclature to prevent unwanted overriding. Is output naming customization a planned feature or internally discussed topic to be included in a later point-release update of V2?
  9. Currently to create a new document using the contents of the clipboard, one has to press CTRL+Alt+Shift+N. While this shortcut is functional, it is quite long and can be cumbersome to use. Additionally changing this shortcut may result in overriding another important function. I would like to propose a more convenient method for creating new documents from the clipboard. I suggest that when no documents are currently active, pressing CTRL+V should directly create a new document using the clipboard contents. This would make the process more intuitive and easier to perform. Example Copy image to clipboard. Open Affinity Designer/Publisher/Photo. Press CTRL+V.
  10. I'm listing this as a Designer bug, but it happens in all 3 apps. How to trigger: Open/show the Swatches panel On the panel dropdown menu select "Add Global Colour" Once the dialog box opens, press the Tab key on once your keyboard The colour mode dropdown should be selected Press up (or down) key on your keyboard Instead of the next colour mode, the list separator is selected as shown in the image below This only works until you select a colour mode on that drop list with your mouse. Once you activate this drop list with your mouse, the bug can no longer be triggered until you close (and reopen) this dialog box. Thanks!
  11. If you've previously been working on a document that was stored on a connected Networked Drive or a Network Attached Storage and subsequently disconnect from the network and launch V2, you may receive the below messages: This is a known issue and our developers are currently investigating. Sometimes you can just dismiss this messages but for the majority of users the application will hang. You can workaround this by deleting the MRU.DAT file from the below locations: ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer 2/ ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/ ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Publisher 2/ Please note: We've also had similar reports from users with Google Drive installed. The workaround listed above will also work for these users.
  12. I have V1 Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer (I don't have an Affinity Publisher). Will users who have AP and AD licenses get a discount on upgrades from V1 to V2? I just didn't buy the entire Affinity bundle as I never needed a Affinity Publisher. I would like to point out that I have 2/3 programs from Serif. A discount when purchasing V2 upgrade for V1 users would be a nice appreciation. I use Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer for fun, it's my hobby in my spare time
  13. Hi i got the apple motion app and im struggling to find out how to import vector files into the motion app vekpo isn't support affinity files and also svg/pdf files
  14. Affinity Photo V2 - Version 2.0.3.321 iPad 6th generation, iOS 16.2 I can’t sign in to my Affinity account on Affinity Photo V2. In the screen capture below, I put in my account details and repeatedly pressed “sign in” to no avail. Closing out the program and relaunching sends me right back to the sign in/create an account screen. This has been happening since (on all of the software) since I’ve downloaded the software around Christmas time. Thankfully the programs are registered under my account or i’d be out of luck. When I open a document in Publisher, i’m able to use studio link, so I am not sure why I can’t connect my account. I included a screen capture of that as well just in case. IMG_1362.MOV IMG_1363.MOV
  15. Hey all, Is there any way to recognise/use the enter key on the numeric keypad as a »regular« enter key? I can't get it mapped as I don't even know where I would set it under the shortcuts. But I would find it incredibly more intuitive this way than having to reach across half the keyboard afterwards to confirm (or alternatively use the mouse to find the appropriate button to confirm) after entering values in a transform process. I noticed this especially during the cropping process with the cropping tool in Photo. I would like to confirm the process, but the numeric keypad enter key is not assigned at all and only gets the error tone. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to set this up, if that's even possible? And if not: well, why hasn't that been an option for a long time? I couldn't be the only one who was bothered by this, could I? 😅 Cheers!
  16. Hello Am i missing something or are the WARP tools found in Designer not in Photo? This should be available in both programs and used the same way. Gary
  17. Hello. I bought and installed the "Affinity v2" suite, and I'm almost satisfied with it, except for a problem with the software crashing when I try to open a file. I'm on macOS 10.15.7 and, when I do: "Right click" > "Open with..." > "Affinity Designer 2" / "Affinity Publisher 2" / "Affinity Photo 2" on a file (PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, etc.), the software open before crashing immediately. Now when I open "Affinity Designer 2", "Affinity Publisher 2" or "Affinity Photo 2" directly, sometimes it works fine and I can open my file, sometimes it crashes immediately (regardless of the file type I tries to open). I was therefore forced to reinstall versions 1 of "Affinity" (which work without any problems) in order to be able to launch my software. Do you have a solution to solve this problem? Do you need the crash reports generated by macOS? Awaiting your reply. Best regards.
  18. 1st of all, amazing build of the 2.0 version! Love the addition of data merge. As well as the other aspects in the Suite 😃 I have however 1 question/request for the Software suite (all 3 of them). The ability to change the UI when working on Windows. As I work mostly remote on my Surface Pro. I find it many times handy working with the pen. However the UI on Windows is build on mouse and Keyboard work. Is it possible to add an addition to the UI, where you have the ability to change the UI based on mouse/keyboard work or Tablet/Pen work/view. (As UI the Ipad has probably an amazing UI/UX experience, this could be something as base) This by example with a click on an icon in the Toolbar or in view. By not having loads of money for an Ipad, it sure would be amazing to have this added in a future update. 🙂
  19. I have download vector from paid Shutterstock account in EPS format. Already in thumbnail in Finder I have noticed that "background layer" is white and it shouldn't be. After opening that EPS with Affinity designer it didn't had white "background layer" anymore but it did have weird white lines over that "background layer". If you zoom in in that attached image you will see ti. I attached video from Affinity designer as well. After searching online for clues, best answer I found was from Reddit: "Unfortunately, most stock pages offer "adobe EPS"-files (AI-EPS), which include stuff beyond the EPS standards. So, depending on the EPS file, some import flawlessly and some just have proprietary features implemented, which Affinity can't render. "Illustrator EPS" are very often "cheating". They provide only a (small) pixelated preview, with full native and proprietary AI file format for the real image embedded. That's also a problem the other way round. A lot of stock pages reject EPS files when created in Affinity, because they expect some features embedded in "AI's way"." Is that true? Is there is something I can to about it? Do you know if there is any Affinity friendly stock photography website that large collection of photographs and vectors? Screen Recording 2021-04-15 at 20.31.04.mp4
  20. Yes, we will be providing MSI installers to customers who require them. This FAQ will be updated with links to MSI downloads when they become available. Yes. These are now available
  21. Just upgraded to the new Affinity Suite after using it daily for 4-5 years. Not sure it justifies the jump to a major release. There are as far as I can see only slight improvements. The versions suffers from the same lack of features many mentioned for years. One thing for sure didn't improve are the app icons. I created a little pack for myself and maybe some of you might enjoy it as well. Peace Y. Affinity YS App Icons.afdesign
  22. With the roll out of Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher for Windows version 2.0.4, Serif are making available Unsandboxed installers (also known here as MSI/EXE installers). These installers will be made for all future V2 release builds going forward and will autoupdate from within the application (checking for updates on each run, like the sandboxed version does) Serif do not recommend or support mixtures of MSIX and MSI on the same computer. You should only use either all sandboxed or all unsandboxed, particularly if you have more than one Affinity V2 application installed. You can now download (and install) Windows unsandboxed MSI/EXE installer files (as well as Windows sandboxed MSIX installer files) from these store pages. 1. From the V2 Universal Download page Click on the words "Looking for Windows MSI installers?" 2. Individual V2 application Download pages, found here Affinity Designer 2 Affinity Photo 2 Affinity Publisher 2 Click on "Also available EXE (size MB)" 3. 23. Please support the new Loupedeck CT device https://loupedeck.com/en/products/loupedeck-CT in your application suite. There is even an SDK available for application integration. https://loupedeck.com/en/developer Thank you all for your fine suite, Simon
  24. The documentation team have made comprehensive posts about the available V2 Tutorials, which cover most common functionality Affinity Designer 2 tutorials here Affinity Photo 2 tutorials here Affinity Publisher 2 tutorials here
  25. If you're having issues exporting to PDF, you may be advised by the Support team to enable PDFLogging. This will allow our developers to look into your issue further and hopefully figure out what's causing the issue. For Windows: Create a folder called temp on the root of your C:\ drive so you have folder at C:\Temp\ Run PDFLibLogging.reg - this will create a registry entry that enables logging for PDF Export Run Affinity and export to PDF and then click OK to accept the error message. Go to C:\Temp\ and send the newly created PDFlib.txt file to the support team as requested Now run PDFLibLoggingRemove.reg to return your settings back to normal PDFLibLogging.reg PDFLibLoggingRemove.reg
