  1. Hi... I Paid Subscription of Affinity Designer V1 only i would like to know when i pay for an Upgrade of 25% off the sale price of the V2 Universal Licence... AM I GOING TO GET ACCESS ALL V2 APPS ? or its Only V1 Paid Affinity Design will be Upgrades to V2?
  2. Hi all, I thought I'd give myself a quick project to explore Affinity's Shape tools and make a series of images. I've made some fish like creatures, but other themes could easily used, like monsters, faces etc. I was thinking this idea could help new users learn about the Shape tools and generally have some creative fun. When I get a few spare moments, my intention is to further embellish each shape with colours, different fills, backgrounds, text etc Note: the bitmap fill is from The Shizzle Style and Brush Pack (Grizzle 1), the paper texture is from True Grit Texture Supply (Folio-Vellum) and additional line shading is from Artifex Forge's Vintage Engraved Patterns (Pattern 6). Yes, I have splashed out on the Spring Sale offers!
  3. Hey folks, I've noticed a problem in Affinity Photo 2, affecting both iPad and desktop versions, where changing a layer's fill opacity via the FX options from 100 % to anything between 100 and 0 % doesn't hide the layers contents as expected. Instead, the contents remain visible 100 % at all times. This seems similar to a previously mentioned, but seemingly solved issue with the 3D effect in Affinity Designer, indicating a possible consistent rendering issue with layer effects and fill opacity settings. To reproduce the Bevel / Emboss visibility issue, follow these steps: Open Affinity Photo 2 on either an iPad or desktop and create a new layer. On this layer, draw anything using any colour of your choice. Apply the Bevel / Emboss effect to the drawn layer. Reduce the layer's fill opacity to 0%. Expected Outcome: The layer contents should become invisible, leaving only the Bevel / Emboss effect visible. Actual Outcome: Despite reducing fill opacity to 0%, both the layer contents and the Bevel / Emboss effect remain visible, suggesting that the expected change in visibility does not occur. I'm looking for insights or workarounds from anyone who has encountered this. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Dennis
  4. Hi, I don't know if this is an available option already, but if not, I would be practical to directly create shapes in a group of layers, by that I mean, let's say for example I'm creating a 3d object on the isometric grid, and I would like to put all the top shapes directly in a group of layers as I create them, so, just imagining here, I go on Window, select Group Layer, now every time I create a shape it goes directly in that group and when I've finished i can rename it Top Shapes for example and I I have the option of locking them all at once or hide them, do the usual stuff you can do on groups of layers, now I can create a new Group Layer and put all my side shapes or front shapes etc. I hope that was clear enough 🤣

  9. Let's go back to school, with some of those common and well known school protractors for measuring in degrees. ... etc. The protractor assets shared here ... ... are all vector based and do have printed on degree scales. You have to adapt/size the default assets protractor sizes to your document needs and thus scale them up/down so they nearly match your doc measurements. Note that all protractors are just a bunch of grouped/layered together vector parts (curves and text) thus they can be modified in colorings and the like. Also you should always move & size etc. a whole reused protractor group/layer when needed! Here is the associated assets file: protractors.afassets Have a nice school day!

  16. This isometric illustration project was probably one of the most difficult I've ever worked on but absolutely worth all the effort in the end. Big shout out to Kevin House for taking the time to provide the walk-through and resources to get it completed 💪
  17. These are some projects done in Affinity Publisher, but took it just a step further to see what they'd look like placed into mockups. The three projects are "Aurelie", "Jovan" and "Komodo". Affinity's built-in stock images feature really helped, especially with the amount of iterations I had to make. "Aurelie" "Jovan" "Komodo" "Komodo" View 2 All the books together
  18. Hey, ...and sorry if my post is duplicated, but I was unable to find on the forum the list of modifications and other changes made to this new version 2.2.1. So, where can we find the list of improvements and fixes for this new version?... Thanks. 😉
  19. Here are my two attempts at "The Whittler" illustration project from the Affinity Designer Workbook. I forgot to mention in my "Reflected Skyline" post is that every upload that contains two images from the workbooks are years apart. The V1s were done on a low-budget laptop I had since college which still works to this day! The V2s were completed on a much better system. I must admit that I could've put a bit more effort into V2, especially with the robot's neck but hopefully that'll be done if I ever decide to tackle it again V1: V2:
  20. I've come up with a workflow that seems to work for me. I spend my mornings sketching abstract shapes. I draw them the old-school way with pencil and paper. I cut out the “good” ones and keep them in a folder for inspiration. I then take a digital picture of the one I want to work with and place it into Designer. After recreating the shape I start to see what I can come up with. I've posted the original sketch and the final product. I never know where these drawings are going to go, but that's what I like… the journey, and hopefully a decent destination.

    Smileys

I made a smileys assets file. Not the best one, nor the worst. I bought some smileys badges, took a picture of each smiley, and saved it as png. Then I made the assets file. Every smiley can be changed using adjustment layers (HSL, Vibrance, White balance, and so on), and transform options (flip H and V, rotate), The size is 2000x2000 px for each of them. Enjoy! 24. Will Affinity support the Logitech CRAFT Keyboard? https://www.logitech.com/en-gb/products/keyboards/craft.920-008503.html Thinking of buying one.
  25. Affinity V2 uses the Hunspell Engine for spell checking and it also allows for additional Hunspell dictionaries to be added. You can download additional dictionaries from LibreOffice's GitHub page here but you can find direct links in the last post here. Once you've downloaded the correct file(s), you can use them in Affinity V2 by following the below instructions: Please note: There are some differences between how you install Hunspell dictionaries for macOS/Windows, since we use the default spelling dictionaries available within macOS but it's also possible to add custom Hunspell dictionaries too. macOS macOS includes spelling dictionaries for many languages and hyphenation dictionaries for a few languages, which will already be available in Affinity V2. To view the available spelling dictionaries, open the Character Studio within the Affinity V2 app, then expand the Language section and click the Spelling dropdown menu. To view the list of hyphenation dictionaries, click the Hyphenation dropdown menu below Spelling in the Character Studio. If the spelling or hyphenation language you require is not available in macOS and therefore not already listed here, you can install standard Hunspell dictionaries to use within Affinity V2. To install a spelling dictionary, copy the required xx_XX.dic and xx_XX.aff files within Finder to:~/Library/Spelling/ To install a hyphenation dictionary, create a new subfolder in ~/Library/Spelling/ Name this subfolder using the format of xx_XX (replacing xx_XX with the language's locale id, for example fr_FR for French) and then copy the hyph_xx_XX.dic file into this folder. If the spelling dictionary for the language you are adding a hyphenation dictionary for is already available in macOS, please do not also manually install the spelling dictionary, you should only need to manually add the hyphenation subfolder and file. Please note: Any changes to dictionaries require that you restart Affinity V2 for these to be detected/updated. Windows Affinity V2 on Windows includes spelling & hyphenation dictionaries for some languages by default, though typically this is less than is available on mac, due to the use of macOS provided dictionaries, which aren't provided by Windows in the same manner. To view the available spelling dictionaries, open the Character Studio within the Affinity V2 app, then expand the Language section and click the Spelling dropdown menu. To view the list of hyphenation dictionaries, click the Hyphenation dropdown menu below Spelling in the Character Studio. If the spelling or hyphenation language you require is not provided with Affinity V2 on Windows and therefore not already listed here, you can install standard Hunspell dictionaries to use within Affinity V2. You can add additional dictionaries and hyphenation dictionaries by going to Edit > Settings > Tools. The default Additional dictionary folder used by the app is C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Common\2.0\Dictionaries but you can change this location by clicking Browse... It is not necessary to change this default folder location within the Affinity V2 app, but if you do, please make sure that you specify a folder here that holds all subfolders for each locale and not one specific locale folder as this will not work! To copy any downloaded dictionaries and hyphenation dictionaries to the Additional dictionary folder click Open... but before copying your files to this folder you will need to create a subfolder with its name in the format of xx_XX ( substituting xx_XX for the locale id ). Once you’ve done this you can copy your xx_XX.dic, xx_XX.aff and hyph_xx_XX.dic files to the subfolder. Now restart Affinity V2 for the dictionaries to appear within the app. _______________________________________ For example, with the default folder used under Settings > Tools, you should see this folder path within the Affinity V2 app and not a specific locale folder: C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Common\2.0\Dictionaries You should then have created a folder within the 'Dictionaries' folder in File Explorer, using the locale ID - for example with English Canadian: C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Common\2.0\Dictionaries\en_CA Within this folder should be the relevant .dic, .aff & hyph.dic files, downloaded from the post below. This should appear as follows Please note: Any changes to dictionaries require that you restart AffinityV2 for these to be detected/updated.
