  1. I have always wanted to do something on the lines of Boris Vallejo, especially the one where the dragon tattoo comes out of the guys arm. And by now I have weaned myself totally off Photoshop and Illustrator.
  2. This design was created using Affinity Designer and Photo. Ehh the color and quality loss after uploading is painful and have had similar results on Pinterest. Anyway, Batman the Ride is one of the greatest coasters ever and had visited Six Flags over Texas and Great America last fall. There was no cool merch for the ride anywhere, so wanted to try and create something to do the ride justice. I created the outline using the pen tool in Designer with some vector fills to block in certain areas. I then imported the file into Affinity Photo and started coloring and adding detail with various brushes. I've had good results with the Nathan Brown brush packs. Thanks to Affinity for creating this great program, I will never go back to Adobe again. I WAS NOT commissioned by DC or Six flags to create this art.
  3. Using various filter and layer to make a color sketch from a picture in Affinity Photo.
  4. My first macro photo, taken through double glass, is not yet perfect, so I still need a lot of practice.
  5. Made with Affinity photo, using the filter "Detect Edges" and framework from Daub Papers "Single Paper" .
  6. A poster design for a ski tour event with lots of pen tool work and some mixed media elements I suppose. Painted in Affinity Photo. Hoping to meet a content writer/designer someday who would want to work together to publish a short story. The universe works in a mysterious ways.
  7. I had a weird glitch happen earlier today when I tried to edit some raw photos (thanks Alfred for the fix!!)- it looked really cool and out there so I played with it and figured out how to get some neat different effects with the sliders and other tools while I waited to hear back on how to fix it. Lead to some really fun images that are far outside my normal style- figured I'd share a couple here.
  8. but a nice photo in springtime, isnt it ? Developed in Develop persona and than processed in Photo persona ( Contrast, Saturation in LAB, sharping with highpass filter, Vignette with Curves in LAB)
  9. After being made redundant last year and losing my access to a CC subscription I decided to switch to Affinity Photo and Designer for my personal work. I got to work in Designer immediately using it to put together a new CV & Portfolio which meant I was then employed as soon as my gardening leave ended. The one off payment made much more sense as for personal work as there may be weeks at a time when I don't have the need for image manipulation as I'll still be working on the 3D side of any project. I've found the switch very easy and have no plans to go back to Adobe for personal work even though I now have CC access again via my new job. This was my entry for the Automotive CGI Facebook group monthly competition where I tried to focus on a low key lighting setup. The Carrera & Porsche vinyl decals were created in Affinity Designer and all of the post production was finished in Affinity Photo. The base render was achieved in 3DS Max 2023 & Corona 11. I've included screenshots of the raw render and the layer stack so please feel free to critique.
  10. Here is a painting of a seascape in thin acrylic using DAP Pro 8 and Affinity Photo. Video of creation included. Sea Scape_2.mp4
  11. Another video! When I lived on the Isle of Wight, we could hardly move without falling over a Morris Dancer. As a folksinger, I naturally met and made friends with a lot of dancers and musicians there. Some years ago, a lady name Helen Akitt wrote this funny song poking gentle fun at her Morris chums, a parody of the lovely song The Whitsun Dance, and I've been singing it ever since I discovered it. The assets in this still--the grass, trees and flowers--actually came from DrawPlus. I saved them as svg and imported them into AD. The unusual format with decorations down each side is because I made the 'pages' in A3 format with a view to printing them some time; YouTube resizes everything to 16:9, which would leave black bars at the sides. And now I'm going to have a rest . . .
  12. My latest picture quiz round. Tv set created in designer. 20 placeholders inside the TV image for the images. All images converted to B&W and a levels adjustment on the majority of images. I created masks to obliterate the backgrounds in the images to take away the fussy details. in APhoto. designed on an A4 will be enlarged to A3 one per team on the night. Comments on the creation and final (almost) presentation as always are welcome. have fun with identifying the faces. As always I look forward to @William Overington blistering observations which are 2nd to none
  13. I saw a story about terraforming another planet for humans to live on. It was a very interesting story, but I think it is not possible in the near future. Because there are too many variables and humans are too weak. This time, I tried to express that kind of thinking. "The Last Day" Speed Art : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVUItomYpFk
  14. I create most of the Quizzes for my local bowls club and I always l try to make the half time break quiz a bit different. Most of the time I just hash a picture quiz together with no shape of form but I thought of this design for the latest picture quiz. the 16 Box layout and numbers created in Designer. The rest of the work in Photo. I usually just pick images at random but sometimes with a theme. This one has a theme which once guessed makes the quiz even easier.
  15. Hello, just here the pleasure of sharing graphic covers of 33LP vinyl covers of some of my favorite musicians in the form of high resolution wallpapers (5120 x 2800 px) saved in .PNG... I hope you will like it... 😉
  16. I thought I'd have a go at correcting the flaw in the family photo HRH Kate released. I used Affinity Photo 2 clone brush and tone mapping to remove the bit everybody was talking about.
  17. Here is another painting in acrylics produced using DAP Pro 7 and interfacing with Affinity Photo. I have included a video of the painting process along with the resulting multilayered Affinity Photo file so you can see how the painting comes to life with human-assisted AI. Play with the Affinity Photo file to your heart's content to see the layering involved and each painting stage. This is a very productive tool. 18. The plural of "rabbit" is "rabbi", right? Well anyway, here's an illustration I did for my wife (the rabbit fanatic...we have owned as many as 7 at one time!) Done in AD v2.3.1, with a few trips to the Photo Persona and Affinity Photo for some filter effects. I created two Artboards in AD so I could create different versions. Hope you like them. Cheers.
  19. I like the "Displace-Filter" very much, have it used for painterly effects like this.
  20. All photo's sourced at Unsplash. Ancient pillars created using shapes and textures. Colour scheme courtesy of my brain.
  21. If a screw is loose, life has a bit of play. Playing with paper strukture and dissolve filter ... Paper from Pixabay
  22. Made in Affinity Photo as a Happy Birthday card.
  23. Continuing my work with Affinity Photo and DAP Pro 7 I created this portrait version of a photograph that came with DrawPlus X8. The painting effect was enhanced by the use of Tone Mapping and the development persona to give it an authentic painted look. The small JPG was exported from Affinity Photo. I hope you can see the paintbrush textures.
  24. This is the first watercolor portrait that I've created in Affinity Photo. I think the result came out not too bad.
  25. Millenia pass and with Mark as its Emperor the Viltrumite nation grows from strength to strength. With peaceful expansion now on his mind, Mark reaches out to the farthest corners of the universe, discovering new planets and lost civilizations… not all are thriving. On one new planet, darkness has taken over, and its Masters have gone. A whisper calls out to Mark as he wanders the baron land, drawn to a castle in the distance. Wedged in its mighty wooden doors is a rusty old sword. Mark reaches out to grasp the hilt of this leftover relic. A sentence screams into Marks mind… “By the power of Greyskull, I HAVE THE POWER!!” Don't know why but I felt compelled to create this! lol Initial sketch - Artflow Inks - Clip Studio (I did attempt to ink in Designer with vectors, but just wasn't happy the results) Colours and Logo created in Affinity Designer. I also used Affinity Photo do to some liquify and fix elements. It's not perfect, but I'm attempting to create more!!!
