  1. Cool: I created this Spiral Typography Art. It took 16 layers to create this. Looks amazing. I copied each image & pasted it, instead of moving it, I rotated it instead to create the spiral.
  2. After being inspired by forum member Graphic&Design, I thought I might start a thread to encourage people to make and share their art based around a particular theme. Not certain how much interest there might be, but hopefully a few of you will join in! :) The challenge: create something using Affinity's products based on the theme of Autumn/Fall. Your art can be as simple or as complex as you want. It could be a single vector leaf or an entire forest. Perhaps a hat & scarf or a pair of wellies to represent the changing weather. A rosy red apple or a squirrel with some nuts. These are only suggestions. It's very open to interpretation. Whatever autumn means to you! And remember, it's not about who's best. It's about creating art and having fun. So, let's see some pics!

  4. An old airbrush (the analog type that must be hooked up to a compressor) edited extensively in Affinity Photo, because I became increasingly less pleased with the result as time passed and it currently is no longer in my possession. After much tinkering I think it now looks like it should have looked years ago. More info on this work in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2019/11/digitally-edited-freehand-airbrush-of.html
  5. Hey y'all! Let me introduce myself. My name is Rens (Instagram @i.am.rensi). I've made the switch from PS to Affinity Photo since summer 2019 and I absolutely love it. I figured there's quite some of you asking how to create surreal imagery, so I decided to create tutorials about manipulation and photo compositing. You can find them on my YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/2qABVXW I will show you step by step how I created these two fun images. Let me know what you think of them and how I can improve my videos so I can serve you better! Stay creative! Rens van Daalen
  6. Originally published in 1897 as A Mad Song, Wandering Aengus (or The Golden Apples of the Sun) has been popular set to music, and it's haunted my since I first learnt it in the seventies. This image is a composite of two Unsplash photos, woodland by John Westrock and girl by Dylan Nolte. Sparkles, vignette and other fiddly bits by yours truly. I went out to the hazel wood, Because a fire was in my head, And cut and peeled a hazel wand, And hooked a berry to a thread; And when white moths were on the wing, And moth-like stars were flickering out, I dropped the berry in a stream And caught a little silver trout. When I had laid it on the floor I went to blow the fire a-flame, But something rustled on the floor, And someone called me by my name: It had become a glimmering girl With apple blossom in her hair Who called me by my name and ran And faded through the brightening air. Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass, And pluck till time and times are done, The silver apples of the moon, The golden apples of the sun. The originals (reduced):--
  7. I use AD for slicing, text and circles and AP for sketching and painting for my 2BTshirt shop on Amazon. My goal is ultimately completely AP, but not there yet. Sometimes I need an assist from Painter 2019.
  8. Captured and colorized an image of the nearly full moon, then used the mirror effect to convert the moon into a mandala.
  9. Recently changed jobs: No longer a "bill collector" for a furniture store, but now an "Internet Manager" for a Toyota Dealership. That means I get to take pics of some really nice vehicles and get paid for it. It also means that, while I'm taking pics for the dealership, I get to take a few pics for my own enjoyment. As a former street racer, and a muscle car enthusiast from back in the 1970's, I'm attracted to street machines. Took this from a series on a Dodge Challenger SRT (also known as a "Hellcat"). I think I'm going to like this job!
  10. Here’s a silly throw-away experiment I put together while playing around. Everything except the background image was created using a mix of the three Affinity applications. Competition Time: First to say who is described in the “classified document” gets a Like.
  11. The following are edited from RAW files from the Nikon D5300.
  12. Hello community, I would like to use this post to ask everyone to show something done in Affinity Designer, Photo or Publisher, main theme Halloween. It does not matter if it is something simple or complex, it is simply to show something done by you. To start, here is my contribution.
  13. When I zoomed in on the sunrise this morning I found this tiny commercial airplane up there all alone in the clouds. By deploying the selection brush tool and some refinement I managed to get most of the fuzziness out of the airplane's edges, and was left with this. I had to export the airplane as a PNG and then clone brush the original image to get rid of the original fuzzy airplane, and then place the new airplane back in, but all in all, I was amazed at what I could do with Affinity Photo. Wish I could figure out how to make the airplane perfectly crisp!. But I do love the watercolor look.
  14. Digital Media Only is finishing the year on a good note. Happy Christmas.
  15. Russian WW2 B-4 203mm Howitzer, heavily weathered in AP

  17. Wow As I was aligning these images perfectly in Affinity Photo, It still looked out of alignment, soon I discovered that it was an Optical Illusion, these images are actually perfectly aligned both vertical & horizontal. Cool, I even took a longer look & sure enough it's an optical illusion of uneven spaces. (Top left & right corner) (Bottom left & right corner) The 2 vertical images are actually the same size & The 2 horozontal images are actually the same size.
  18. I have been using Affinity Photo since late 2017 when I first got the trial version. I was so impressed with it that I went ahead and bought the full version. Took me a few weeks of trial and error learning since I was used to Photoshop, but I did eventually master Affinity Photo and found it to be superior to Photoshop in many aspects. I've been making my living as a photographic artist for over 17 years now. I recently got accepted by the Robert Harding Photography Library, a premier travel photography agency based in Britain. All of the images they accepted from me were processed using Affinity Photo. The gallery page link will only show the first 100 images they accepted from me. To see all 175 photos type the number 1311 in the search bar of the page. That will redirect to my full gallery. I am based in Arizona so I have a lot of Grand Canyon and Sedona related photos. Some of my photos are from areas that the everyday tourists either can't or won't go, which means they are of areas rarely seen by the everyday public. Some of these shots took me a whole day to hike to. My most popular photos are of lightning storms I captured in Arizona. https://www.robertharding.com/photographers/stevenlove/
  19. Stitched and processed 5 HDR images shot with default camera app on my trusty iPhone 7 (I know, vintage!) in Affinity Photo for iPad... Got much better results this way than using the iPhone's built in panorama mode, which is very hard to get a straight horizon with....
  20. Cool, I did my 1st amazing drawing after I purchased Affinity Photo.
  21. Nothing special, I took these pictures last weekend at Umhlanga Rocks in South Africa, all pictures taken with a Sony A7II, with the Sony 28-70mm, and all develop in Affinity Photo. This is my first time using Affinity Photo to develop pictures.
  22. Hi All Finally! completed the first artwork originally for #INKTOBER 2016 (Twelve) and then recreated in Affinity Designer/Photo and now looking forward to the next one!. Original file size 600mm (300dpi) 12 additional 250x310mm (300dpi) for each creature
  23. This was far trickier than I first thought is was going to be (and the result isn't nearly as good as I hoped). I’ve only shared a low-res version as the high-res version is a mess. More experimentation with the various tools is much needed. If anyone has any tips for this kind of thing then please share them.
