  1. Here's a link to a recent series of fun and colourful retro inspired objects and toys. All done in vector using Affinity Designer. Designer is so great for this kind of work. Cheers Serif! https://www.behance.net/gallery/180858837/Retro-inspired-objects-and-toys-series
  2. Some reproductions of works of art with the associated vector files: it's up to you to make them your own and recolor them to your liking (according to the color of your living room)... The new duplication functions in AD 2.2.1 were very effective!... 3. I thought I'd try and do something with Inkscape now v1.3 is out. Cars are "easy" if long winded so I though that would be a good project to try it out on. Even installed Linux to give it the best chance but it's just too slow, clunky (like the coders don't actually use it, but they're doing it for free so not complaining too much) and a bit buggy. So I gave up after a couple of days and opened it in AD v2 then copied it in to AD v1 (as v1 wouldn't open it) and did it in there instead. Windows AD was grinding to a halt near the end, should just use my Mac.
  4. Here is the Torus Yantra, a well-know sacred geometry figure, that I created in Affinity Designer, using the ellipse tool, and replicating the ellipse 12 times.
  5. Hi Im new here but i wish to share my latest artwork and also I have a question about data entry, how to keep letters and numer horizontally around circle? Many thank
  6. I'm working up a historical starmap for a fan fiction project, with data adapted from Star Trek, and stylistic cues from the old Dent's Canadian/School Atlas' front half material, which was usually produced in black and white with usage of tones and/or spot colours. This is intended to be ink-usage-friendly for other fans' purposes. I expect to creative derivative works devoted to marking systems particularly notable for "key" resources specific to that mythology, and possibly other spin-offs as well. I'm working in Affinity Designer 1.10.6 because that's as far as my hardware and budget will currently allow. I guess I'm looking for additional "tone"/"Style" resources that may be particularly useful for this project. If you have any recommendations...?
  7. A few days ago I made a rather silly picture I titled The perils of poorly-maintained Gents' lavatories (that's men's public restrooms in American). And then I thought I could animate this! There's nothing on view that actually requires censoring, I should point out. The moving parts are all on separate layers, so each one transfers to a layer in MoviePlus X6. (MoviePlus: still doing the business, and more intuitive to use than a lot of other video editors 🙂) I recorded the sound effects in the kitchen on my iPhone; the little bit of speech will be recognisable to Goon Show fans.
  8. I made a picture of an old-fashioned barometer because . . . well, because I can! Who needs an excuse? I discovered quite a while ago that I enjoy making things with scales and pointers, for some reason; and the Version 2 Duplicate dialogue makes it so much easier to make circular scales. The woodwork is created from a stock photo of a piece of wood, which I sawed into quarters and turned a profile edge (digitally, that is ). All the rest is made from vectors, using three photos for reference and picking out the best features. (There were some curlicues on the thermometer scales, but I forgot to do them! ) The red letters are from a freebie font called Great Victorian, which has plain and swashed cap forms.
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum. I am using AD-2 on my iPad air (2022) with an Apple pencil since 2021. The vector image I am showing here is in the memory of my youth back in the early sixties. I am more interested in graphic quality rather than photographic realism. For my figures I am using photographs from journals and the internet as inspiration, mostly to get the proportions right.
  10. These are some projects done in Affinity Publisher, but took it just a step further to see what they'd look like placed into mockups. The three projects are "Aurelie", "Jovan" and "Komodo". Affinity's built-in stock images feature really helped, especially with the amount of iterations I had to make. "Aurelie" "Jovan" "Komodo" "Komodo" View 2 All the books together
  11. I've come up with a workflow that seems to work for me. I spend my mornings sketching abstract shapes. I draw them the old-school way with pencil and paper. I cut out the “good” ones and keep them in a folder for inspiration. I then take a digital picture of the one I want to work with and place it into Designer. After recreating the shape I start to see what I can come up with. I've posted the original sketch and the final product. I never know where these drawings are going to go, but that's what I like… the journey, and hopefully a decent destination.
  12. Decided to concentrate on some much larger drawings this year!....(Year 8)as I never seem to finish!😀 Used New Comic Book Brush Sets combined with PB 33 (Ink Blocking) have not uploaded these! but you can use these: Brush Sets: Inkers: Project Brush 19 'Inker' Patterns: Project Brush 19 'Pattern Toolkit' 01 Dream Affinity Designer | 1000 x 500mm | 300Dpi Tint Overlay Grey Original
  13. This isometric illustration project was probably one of the most difficult I've ever worked on but absolutely worth all the effort in the end. Big shout out to Kevin House for taking the time to provide the walk-through and resources to get it completed 💪
  14. Here are my two attempts at the "Reflected Skyline" illustration project from the Affinity Designer Workbook. Hope you guys enjoy! Any feedback is much appreciated V1: V2:
  15. Here are my two attempts at "The Whittler" illustration project from the Affinity Designer Workbook. I forgot to mention in my "Reflected Skyline" post is that every upload that contains two images from the workbooks are years apart. The V1s were done on a low-budget laptop I had since college which still works to this day! The V2s were completed on a much better system. I must admit that I could've put a bit more effort into V2, especially with the robot's neck but hopefully that'll be done if I ever decide to tackle it again V1: V2:
  16. My next reproduction of one of the OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark) covers made in Affinty Designer.
  17. We're running a Towers/Turrets challenge on the Affinity Designer - hands on group (winners entry gets pride of place on the group banner)... this is my example of a 100% vector turret. Grabbed some grunge textures from Vecteezy, and used the warp tool in version 2. Come and join in!!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/323847269739786 www.gsdesignstudio.co.uk
  18. Hi, I thought I'd share this image, not because it's anything particularly special (it'll never fly!), but mainly to demonstrate a potential use for the Warp mesh tool when applied to a group of parallel lines. By adding nodes and moving them around the warp group, some interesting effects can be achived. In other design apps a blend tool might be used to do this, but using 'Power duplicate' and 'Mesh warp', maybe goes someway towards help make simple 'blend' like effects easier. Obviously this is no substitute for a proper blend tool. (thanks!) 🙂
  19. I was going to simplify it but changed my mind. Have only finished the bottom left and top right of those windows. Still quite a few books window to redraw too. Who knew that bookshops had so many books! Back to using AD v1 as it's just nicer in a number of ways and as my requirements are simple it's no loss.
