  1. Let it go, let it glow https://www.bodobe.de/mela-mondkind-mr-mautz-vor-dem-mond/
  2. Affinity Projects move between Desktop and iPad. Fonts must move easier than today. This would be the easiest way to get used fonts to iPad: ☑️ Embed Fonts in Affinity file. 👈 feature request I would like to see fonts embedded in affinity files to seamlessly continue a project on the iPad that was started on a Mac or PC.
  3. HI,I have place 4 documents into a Event tent Doc in Affinity designer. I Want to edit the place embedded image into affPhoto but don't know how to. I know I can double -click on it and edit the embedded doc in affinity but I will be editing the actual image part of the embedded doc. It does not go back to the original place file. Is there a Edit in Affinity Photo command? how do I do this. I am getting some embedding option but none for adding external the original file.
Siehe Sreenshot. Würde mich sehr über Antworten Freuen :-) Besten Dank
  5. I used the pen tool on this program way back when (probably late 2017) and had no problem tracing my sketches into vector art. Now when I alt click a node (in 1.7) it turns the entire line straight instead of just removing one handle. Is this supposed to happen? Because right now the tool is virtually unusable.
  6. Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10 (same fop beta 1.9.0.743). I don’t know if this is by design, or a bug, or just a missed opportunity, so I thought I’d mention it. As you can see in my attached video, when I have multiple shapes with differently-coloured strokes, swapping the stroke colour for the fill colour makes all the shapes the same fill colour. I thought it might be nice to have the stroke colour and fill colour of each shape to be swapped individually. Is this something that other people might want, or is there a good reason why it works this way? 2020-09-22 09-09-18.mp4
  7. I first bought Designer in 2018 then added Photo and Publisher i believe in 2019. I first noticed that my Designer files had the Photo Icon and extension and would not show the thumbnail view, I'm not sure when that happened. I got a new Windows laptop last month and still had the same viewing/file issues. I did some research and discovered it could be a Onedrive issue where all of my files were stored so I downloaded all of my files to the laptop's hard drive and i could now see the thumbnails but the file extensions were still Photo not Designer. Any ideas on why? My original files that i saved as Designer when i only had Designer are Photo and even now when I save from Designer, they are saved as Photo. I very rarely use Photo or Publisher so I'm not sure if there is any connection to or setting i need to re-set on any of these 3 programs. Any insights are most welcome. Thank you
  8. Affinity Designer just stops responding. I have a tool selected but all I see is the "view tool" it doesn't matter what tool I select either.
  9. This issue has been fixed in the 1.8.6 update. Please read the following article on Affinity Spotlight on how to update your Affinity iPad apps: https://affinityspotlight.com/article/how-to-install-affinity-updates/ This is a known issue but a workaround is to disable Scribble from Settings > Apple Pencil.
  10. This issue has been fixed in the 1.8.6 update. Please read the following article on Affinity Spotlight on how to update your Affinity iPad apps: https://affinityspotlight.com/article/how-to-install-affinity-updates/ Unfortunately, we’re aware of an issue where our iPad apps will crash when accessing Preferences > Fonts on iPadOS 14. We do not currently have a workaround within the app, however you can use 'iFonts' to install the fonts system-wide, for use in Affinity. This is logged with our developers to be fixed
  11. I fully understand the complexity of porting to Linux - you need to support various distros, and tech support could be challenging with so many variables - distroes, DEs, kernels, etc... I think that Ubuntu 20.04 LTS represents an excellent opportunity to create for an OS that will have a guaranteed 5 years of support, and which will form the base for distros such as Pop OS and Mint. It is not perfect, but likely an easier way to segue into the Linux World. But why would you want this on Linux? Or why would a user? Because, we want a stable, secure, high performing Affinity environment. This isn't about Windows, MacOS or even Linux, it is about your product. Think about the rise of apps. No one really cares if they are Android or iOS - they want a great, focused experienced. I want to use the Affinity Suite without distractions. I want Affinity more than I want any OS. I want to use your product effectively, efficiently, and without headaches. So why Linux? Because it is the lesser of 3 evils. I do not want the distraction of Windows update, pop ups, ads in my start menu (!), I want to work. I do not want to live in front of my computer, waiting for an update that cripples 800 million workstations, or that kills my performance, or takes away features. On top of that, I do not want the added support/license costs, and security issues. While macOS solves many of these issues, cost is certainly a factor. It becomes very difficult for a small studio or publisher (such as myself) to roll out multiple macOS workstartions. Especially when all I want is a web browser, google docs and Affinity. I think that I am not alone; people may not necessarily be after a catch all linux port, but rather a better Affinity experience, that doesn't come with strings attached because of the underlying OS. Look at what Steam did - they went as far as creating their own Linux distro. Do not be surprised if Adobe does the same down the road - an Ubuntu LTS based iso that boots into a barebones desktop optimized for their suite or products - essentially an App type experience on the desktop. That is not to say you need to go down this road, but supporting one distro (such as Ubuntu 20.04 LTS), with an experience maximized for your products is in users' best interest. While it is easy to underestimate the interest in Linux, I would not underestimate interest for Affinity focused workstations. I am glad to discuss this further, and I am sure that many other Affinity users are as well.
  12. I rarely use Designer, it's nearly always Photo I use but I thought I'd have a crack doing a logo in Designer.
  13. Please enjoy a short video about text-linked 3D Effect or shadows. Notes: - tl;dr: use symbols - for adjustments on shadow-copies disable sync and use layer effects only, then re-enable sync when you're finished - manipulation of fill/stroke properties while sync is disabled will break the link of the text content, i.e. if you change the text later the shadow won't update anymore - transformations applied to the symbol affect only the selected instance - transformations applied to the text inside the symbol while sync is enabled will also apply to other instances, i.e. if you stretch/rotate/... the original, the shadow will follow. However, I managed to break this particular link somehow while experimenting, not sure what the exact conditions are. Cheers! 2020-09-21_11-41-58.mp4
  14. I need some tools just like Adobe Illustrator and nothing in Affinity maybe shape builder knife tool Split into grid 3d object etc
  15. Greetings fellow travellers! I am designing a board game, both mechanics-wise and graphcially, though I am a real beginner at graphical design so I have outsourced some of the graphcial design, such as the game board and the cover image. What I do want to make myself though are the playing cards. I have been using a simple program since March to create cards, but I am going to use Affinity to create the final card design. Since I am not very advanced, I want to stick to a clean and simple card design, and I still want it to look great! So I would be grateful if you just had a look at the attached cards and say what you think of them. There a five cards I am attaching, and their design is not completely uniform now. I am going to make it easier for you though - just answer the questions below, and then add more comments if you like. 1) The "Travels of Marco Polo" card uses a different font - which font looks better? 2) All cards except "The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact" have a grey border around the main text body. Does it make a difference? 3) The text in "Travels of Marco Polo" is justified (it always takes up a full row) - which looks better? 4) Does the font-size matter? 5) The last card has a "secondary color" (grey) on top - some cards will have this. Would you rather have this somewhere else? (It cannot be below the header.) If you made it through these points, or if you just don't like lists - feel free to add any other comments. Also note that some cards will have images, but some will only have quotes, and a big challenge is to find a quote frame that can be reused on all cards, regardless of the colors of the card. PS. The card icons on top are soon being updated and made more uniform!
  16. Retro cartoon style logo design for a plumbing company. 🙂 🔗 https://metinseven.nl
  17. I noticed that when the stroke of an object is set to inline that the fill color of that object is clearly bleeding through behind the stroke. I don't think that's supposed to be as it would mean the stroke is not aligned properly with the border of the object. As you can see this also transfers to exports and is not just a visual glitch. In my example image I have a simple circle, filled with black and on top of that a smaller circle with a white fill and a black stroke set to inline. You can clearly see the white bleed on the border of the inner circle. The bleed also changes with the color of the inner circle's fill. Is there any settings I might have wrong to fix this or is this a bug?
  18. The Fliegermuseum in Altenrhein is a gift that keeps on giving. This P9 only recently arrived. I always wanted to try to capture the propellor distortion caused by taking a digital picture, I think it came out quite well.
  19. I was sketching and wanted to play with an acquaintance's stage name. So I made the test for fun and then sold him the final design. Then, I wanted to do a full 26 letter study with the font. The logo is out the door and sold but any critique on the 26 letters is welcome.
  20. is there a way to auto-fill a negative shape surrounded by and existing fill? If I wanted to fill in the circular hole in the image attached? I know I could do it prior to expanding the strokes, or I have seen people create a whole new shape with pen tool set to fill-only. Are there any other better options yet?
  21. Hi, I'm using 1.8.3. When I export my slices and select PNG, no matter if in Document Setup I unchecked the transparent background, I still get Transparent backgrounds both in the Sections preview panel, both as a result. I want my slices to have a white background.
  22. hello guys, in this tutorial I show you how to use the symbol tool and symmetry! it's a Master technique that will save you tons of time! Enjoy! using graphic design and illustration techniques on iPad
  23. I created a layered design in Designer. When exporting it as a pdf the stroke on an image on the top layer IS NOT knocking out the image on a lower layer. The fill on the top layer DOES knock out the image on the lower layer, it's just the stroke that does not get knocked out. Everything looks fine when viewed in Designer. Any ideas what's going on?
  24. Hello! I have been trying to figure something out for the past week, which I think is pretty simple, but I can't seem to find the solution, and I don't know if it's because there isn't one or because I can't use the proper words to find it online. I hope I can get some help here. In the screenshot attached you'll see I have a layer with a photo and then on top a layer of a vector shape following the outline of the photo, which is a flower. My goal then is to draw more vector lines that will join the outline (like the petals, or the sepal in the attached file). Since the vector line is just a line, not a closed shape, when I try to fill the section the whole shape gets filled instead, and if I try to close the line into a shape, of course it closes like in the attached file, because the vector line starts and finishes in two different places instead of being a closed shape. I don't know If I have made my problem clear. However, I would appreciate any help, I can't seem to find a way around this issue. Thank you all!
  25. Hello I am looking to hire a teacher or tutor to master Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher. I have a big project that I need to use these tools for. My email is michael@michaeltronn.com Thank you very much!
