  1. Dear serif. I am a logo designer. I bought affinity designer for logo designing. Every logo designer needs mockup But affinity designer doesn't have warp effect so you can't have mockups. The only way to use mockups is by buying affinity photo (50$). Dear serif. Be sure that i won't pay another $50 And if i didn't get the warp tool in the next update be sure that i will leave this program
  2. Hi Affinity, While I love the way OpenType features are handled much better than in Adobe, I really cannot navigate font superfamilies. If you have any family that has different weight groups then navigating through the font list is very difficult. Can you guys please fix the font organization. It really slows down my work otherwise. I am showing screenshots for one particular font family. I have licensed countless superfamilies and I really don't like working with them in Affinity products for this reason.
  3. Whenever I export an SVG file to an application for the browser the SVG Comes out with a style on it (style = "fill-opacity: 0"). This makes it annoying because every time I make an SVG they always have this style on it. I have to go into the file and remove this style attribute to make it work every single time I make an SVG. Is there a way when exporting to not have it display this style attribute?
  4. Hello! Help me find Clone Brush Tool (analog Clone Stamp Tool in Photoshop) in Affinity Designer, please ? Or how can I implement this tool in Affinity Designer?
  5. Is there a way to convert a shape or curve to picture frame. I was designing a mockup in Designer and I wanted to import an image into a custom sized rectangle and have it adjustable within the shape to show parts of the image I want. Any good suggestions on how to do this? And if none, can this be added to Designer?
  6. After the 1.6 update, the expand stroke function that wasn't accurate with rounded rectangles before, now is completely broken (see screenshot of a rounded rectangle, circle, and a cog). Upd. It seems to happen only in certain affinity files, not all of them. Regards, Anton
  7. Hello! I have had a few issues recently that seems to be performance related (serious lag and erratic behaviour of node tool and move tool) I have attached a video of a work session (sorry if it's long and tedious, it's a realistic snippet of how I, and probably many others, have to work) I don't know how to put subtitles on a video so I will put a list below with the issues I found. Now, I must say, as it have been pointed out multiple times a smooth and/or simplify option on path and nodes would be greatly appreciated. I know that I will receive comments on the fact that I should learn to be proficient with a pen tool before trying to smooth paths, because that what I have been reading a lot on these forum. I get that most people who answer here are "creators", but I suspect a lot of us Designer users are what we call "artworkers". Meaning we have to work on files given to us by others (who don't care if their files make sense or not - they don't give a crap, they couldn't be bothered, don't even try to talk to them ) The case I am presenting here is a 146 kb .eps file provided by the studio in charge of digitizing the assets from Schultz estate. They provide those files (take it or leave it) to those who buy the licensing rights. My work here is to smooth out the jagged lines, because the scan was probably done, digitized via livetrace (and converted to .eps) from a small/damaged/blurry line drawing. So if you have the patience to go through the video, you'll see that the file has 81 layers (which I tried to organise a bit prior to recording the video). You'll see that I really lack the availability to use a smooth tool or a simplify option. I tried to use the "smooth" function in the contextual menu, but it makes little difference to the end result. so the list of issues with the timecode are below: 0.06: trying to use the space key to pan the canvas, it's either slow or simply not working (it sometimes does) have to use the navigator instead 0.14: Same with using the zoom (Space bar + CTRL) 0.38: Trying to select a shape with the node tool (it sometimes works) end up using the layer panel (wading through 81 layers) 1.24: The node tool now has a mind of its own. At the particular moment I am not even touching the tablet with the pen. I am just hovering over the drawing after clicking the node and the node tool has now picked up the node and travels with it. I get the same behaviour with a mouse. (but who would use a mouse?). Again, I am not clicking, nor click/draging the node. I have to do a number of CTRL+Z to restore state. 3.10: Happens again. As I said, the original file is 810 KB. It's 146 kb when saved as an afdesigner file. Beyond the lag/performance issue, I would like to plea for artworkers workflow to be taken into account in the development of the software. When I do an inventory of all the features I'd like to add (select similar for example) I can see that these are features aimed at modifying shapes and paths as opposite as creating new ones. It seems to me that the project managers had "creators" in mind and not artworkers (simplifying here), meaning that if you are working on a generic .eps or .ai file created by someone else, it's infinitely easier do it in Adobe Illustrator (because those feautres exist in .ai), whereas I have no trouble using all the - very well - thought-out tools of Affinity designer if I want to create a design from scratch (I am someone who is naturally very neat with her layer stack, and I always name and group my layers, it's even a breeze if someone has to work on my files ). But if you decide that your software isn't aimed primarily at artworkers, then I think you're losing out (particularly given the price and licencing model, artworkers are AD natural customers. Apologies for the Sundays ramblings.... Hope everything makes sense... record_000001.avi
  8. Hi guys, I wanted to show some work I made using Affinity Designer and After Effects. When I started learning how to animate, it was hard to find info on how to make designs in Affinity Designer and animate them with After Effects. After some experimentation, I figured a decent workflow. As you can see, I'm not limited by the lack of integration between the two software suites. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. 10. Hello all, first time posting here. Me and my mother have been learning how to use Affinity Designer for iPad by following the instructions in the workbook. To learn how to use Vector Brushes we downloaded the resources for Chapter 3 (The Whittler). When importing brushes, the file picker comes up and literally all of the 1st party resources are greyed out and unavailable to import. I searched the forums and apparently this has been a known bug since at least Oct 2018, as Dan C writes: My mother cannot use iCloud or Dropbox to store a 500+ Mb file (this is for a single chapter's resources). I stored the unzipped files on the iPad because: iCloud Drive is notoriously bad a syncing and keeping files on device. This is problem compounded when working via a low bandwidth connection which is all our family has access to. Dropbox is not focusing on users like me an my mother anymore. I'm moving as much as I can off that ship, it's sailing for land of enterprise/team based users. I followed the instructions for importing resources from the book and it just fails halfway through. This is a "current workaround" as Dan writes. However, as October 2019 approaches (a year since their post, four updates later) this statement becomes more and more untrue and unacceptable. I'm not sure if this post constitutes a bug report, if there is a way to make an official report please inform me how/where to do so. I really like the product, my mother really likes the ability to use the Apple Pencil and we both hope this can be resolved soon. Shawn
  11. Hi Affinity community. I have 2 rectangles no stroke, I sheared them, then, flipped them, joined or aligned them to make a roof like element. But there is a line down the middle. I've done the same thing in Fireworks and it worked without producing the line. Even though it's zoomed in, I noticed it before I zoomed. It was worse in Designer but after clicking the View Mode buttons on and off it got better but not right. I've attached an image showing the 2 different results, there is 2 screenshots from each app to show they are 2 objects being joined. I'm trying to do more stuff in Designer but this type of thing slows the transition to where I resort back to Fireworks. Is this the same issue as is posted in these posts? Lines between (snapped) objects in editor - terrible quality at png Can someone explain why I get these thin lines? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Comic - My funny girl

Hi everyone, here is the second attempt drawing a comic based on a true story - my cute and funny girl, please enjoy it
  13. Hello everyone! (I am new here, so pardon me if I posted my issue in the wrong category.) I've been playing around with Affinity Designer on and off for the past year and a half. I really want to fully transition to Designer (coming from Illustrator), but I keep bumping into the same little annoying issues that would make my workflow painfully slow. One issue in particular has to do with the Boolean operations. I've seen this question raised a few times on the forum before, but no solution so far. Will there ever be? The problem It appears that the Boolean Divide action doesn't work well with shapes that have one or more overlapping edges. The result is a big mess. You either get the compound shape partially divided or not at all. Then you would also get those pesky thin "hair" lines coming out parts of the resulted group. Artifacts... artifacts everywhere! Anyone can replicate this issue in a matter of seconds with basic shapes. Create a square and a circle of the same size. Apply different fills. Align them to the center of the spread and make sure that the square is behind the circle in order to see the individual pieces better. Divide both shapes using the Boolean actions panel. Normally you should have the four corners of the square that are seen outside the circle cut into separate pieces. The result would be 5 shapes in total (including the ellipse in the center). However, Affinity Designer has something else in mind (see images below). I have given up hope that they will fix this bug. Therefore, can anyone suggest an alternative work-around method for this issue instead? Thanks in advance!
  14. I am working in a Designer file with several artboards. I go back and forth between Designer and Pixel persona. Suddenly I cannot select any art I've drawn on pixel layers using the move tool in either persona. I get a thin bounding box (no handles) and the art is locked in place. Other files are not behaving like this. Well, now it's back to working ok and I do not know how I resolved it. I was getting ready to take a screen grab and voila. Can you please explain what happened here? thank you!
  15. When I create a style from some text in Designer and apply that to some more text either in the same file or a different file not all the effects setting are applied. Specifically, the radius settings in Outer Shadow, 3D, and Bevel/Emboss are not set to the original (source) text from which the style was created. All other settings seem to come through including font, color, size, etc. I have not thoroughly tested if other effects settings come through or not, but radius is definitely not coming through while others do. Is this a bug or the expected behavior?
  16. Hi, I was dealing(playing) with AD and the appearance panel and was wondering whether it is possible to modify the shape of one of multiple strokes without expanding the all object. I could once do this but I don't remember what I've done and of course I've deleted my test file (I might have expended the stroke but I could still see the object with a fill and the stroke). Thanks, P.
  17. I installed Affinity Design yesterday and I got it installed. However, every time I try to open Affinty, the attached error message pops up and tells me that I need to download the version of .NET Framework in order to start the program. I followed the link and downloaded it, and I kept getting the same message. I restarted my computer, 'Installed as an Administrator' and nothing seems to work. I have even un-and re-installed it and there's been no progress. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
  18. Hello, I'm a figure drawing artist and I have been using Adobe Illustrator to draw quick figure sketches for a number of years. Key to this process is the ability to direct the pencil tool to not select each new line I draw, so I can sketch simple lines quickly without the distraction of anchor points. I haven't been able to find the Affinity Designer equivalent that would allow me to draw with the pencil tool without seeing the Nodes. Is there a toggle that allows this? I've attached to this post a short clip illustrating what I'm talking about. On the right, I have an Illustrator window, with its pencil tool set to not select new lines. I can draw with no problems. On the left, Affinity Designer's pencil tool keeps lines selected, with nodes being a visual distraction as well as editing lines when I'm drawing too close to the last line I drew instead of making a new line. I want to be clear, drawing in the Pixel persona is not the solution I'm looking for. I'd like my lines to remain vector and editable after drawing, and to be able to do this from the Designer persona. Is this currently possible?
  19. I type out text using the Artistic Text or Text Frame tools, then double (or triple) click and proceed to highlight the text that I want to make adjustments to. The only problem is, I can't see what I've selected because the text doesn't become highlighted! I could still make edits, but it takes alot more time if I am moving quickly and don't put my cursor where I think it should be. Any help? Affinity Designer 1.6.1, Mac 10.13.3
  20. Hello Serif, OS : Mac Os Siera 10.12.6 I'm experience issue about Export persona in Affinity Designer. 22. Hi, Feeling a bit daft and its driving me nuts, When I create a document in design using letters with styles (wood effect, etc) in affinity its sharp, as soon as I import it (pdf) its pixelated when I enlarge it. This only happens when I use styles not when I use curves or flat letters. I've changed rgb settings, document size, everything. What am I doing wrong please. Thanks Just noticed, this happens with any effect on anything (curves, fonts with 3D etc)
  23. In this lesson we set up a document inside of Affinity using guides to create bleeds. Then we go on to create a business card. Check it out and go create. https://youtu.be/tDxQaOVVWrg *Please note that this was created in 2015 using version 1.2, there have been a lot of updates since and the upcoming release of 1.7 will solve my work arounds for this tutorial. 24. Had once again a design task (dynamic distribution of rectangles), which I wanted to solve with " constraints" and was actually surprised that the well-known bug was still not fixed?! Actually it's a great function and a good selling point, but it can also make the work of a designer a lot easier. But only under the condition that this function also works 100% and it definitely doesn't work and this already since the introduction of Affinity Designer. But this was one of the few reasons why I said goodbye to Adobe Illustrator AD1.7.1.404_constraints_bug.afdesign
