    Crashing on Export

I have been using Affinity photo for a while now and its been great! All of a sudden a few days ago its started crashing when I try to export both on Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer so I can't export anything do a different file. I need help with this ASAP as I use this for my work often. I have a MacBook Pro 2016 touch bar v10.12.5. I am running Affinity 1.5.2. I'm pasting top lines from error report if it helps. ____________________________________________ Process: Affinity Photo [706] Path: /Applications/Affinity Photo.app/Contents/MacOS/Affinity Photo Identifier: com.seriflabs.affinityphoto Version: 1.5.2 (1.5.3) App Item ID: 824183456 App External ID: 821350282 Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? 2. We are pleased to announce a major update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer, version 1.7.1 Changes in this Build The changes in Affinity Designer 1.7.1 (for Windows) over the recent release Affinity Designer 1.7.0 are as follows: Support for multi-page Affinity Publisher documents Fixed sporadic crash with HSL range control Removed limits to shadows highlights effects Avoid over saturated shadows and washed out highlights New curve for highlights filter applied to bounded pixel formats Remap shadows and highlights slider ranges Fixed hang when scrolling through Slices panel Fixed custom panel height being reset on app start Fixed Gradient Colour selection closing popup immediately Reduced file sizes when starting from/inserting an image Fixed crash when pressing Esc during a floating panel drag Removed resize gripper when the Status bar is visible Added double click to Assign/Convert profile dialog Fixed Column guides colour > Tint slider not working Added Save over imported PSD files Fixed Scale with Object causing stroke size to be incorrectly reflected in the Appearance panel Fixed Symbol unlinked orange dashed line not showing up for unlinked symbols Fixed 32-Bit Preview panel being clippedwhen upgrading from 1.6 Fixed CMYK Colour profile setting the Grey profile to empty Fixed Noise not being applied on a gradient stop colour Fixed crashes in History and Layers panel Fixed brush preview outline still present when colour picking with Alt+click Enabled Resize document to work withphysical units Fixed EPS "Export text as curves" checkbox being disabled Fixed PDF export of RGB documents in greyscale documents Fixed sporadic crash on print Added preference for opening documents in a new floating container Fixed Adjustments thumbnails in the Layers panel are not being updated Fixed failure in 1.7.0 to read custom keyboard shortcuts. Changes in 1.7.0 (Since 1.6.5) The changes in Affinity Designer for Windows 1.7.0 over the last Affinity Designer patch 1.6.5 are as follows: Tools We've overhauled most of the core tools, adding subtle new features to make you more productive. New Point Transform Tool allows you to scale and rotate objects from any node. The Node Tool now contains a 'Transform Node' option which provides a containing box for the selected nodes and allows for more freeform editing of the nodes. New 'Cube' grid setup mode (take a look in 'View' -> 'Grid and Axis Manager...'). Pen tool now has a 'rubber band' mode and also a mode to allow future curves to be added to the current object's curves (for example, the character 'a' is constructed of two curves in a single 'curve object' and this mode makes that construction simpler). Node tool can now auto-snap nodes if you drag a node from one curve over the top of a node from another (selected) curve and pause, it will offer to snap to the same geometry as the node you're hovering over (ie, modify the on and off-curve nodes to match). This is really useful for trying to reconstruct areas of one curve from another curve. Node tool now allows for lasso selection of nodes by holding the Alt/Option key and dragging a selection lasso. Pencil tool now offers a 'sculpt' mode that allows for extending or manipulating curves in a more natural way. More to come in this area soon. Many tools now allow for 'Alignment widgets' which you can toggle the visibility of in the context toolbar. When enabled you can visually adjust the alignment or even, for example, 'align to centre, snapped to the left edge of this object' by simply click/dragging. Fill tool correctly allows editing of skewed fill handles and newly-created skewed fills draw much nicer now. Ruler origin can be edited by simply dragging the area where the rulers intersect each other - it can even be snapped onto objects in the document. Guides can be edited in most tools by simply dragging a guide in the ruler area. Grid setup is now more interactive: origin can be dragged, axis scale adjusted and angle adjusted on-document, complete with snapping to objects and angles in the document to help you reconstruct useful grids from finished artworks or sketches. By enabling 'Edit in Plane' on the new Isometric Panel, tools can edit objects and appear to make those edits along the currently active plane - extremely useful for artists who enjoy working with any axonometric projections. You can now drag the rotation centre point (when enabled on the context toolbar) while holding Ctrl and it will translate the object - this is actually very useful for positioning and snapping objects relative to others. Shapes tools now have presets so you can create your own favourite shape setups and more easily use them again. There are just far too many subtle tool changes to mention here, but hopefully you'll find the tools much improved General Arrowheads are now available in the Stroke Panel. New Appearance Panel allows for multiple strokes and fills on a single shape. HDR / EDR monitor support New brushes, styles and assets are now shipped with the product. Visible bleed (accessed from the View menu) so you can more easily design into the bleed area - a common feature request. “Alternate futures” for document history have been added. Traditionally, if you roll back the undo history then do something else all your changes after that point are lost. Designer will now display a small branch icon in the history tab when you do this. Pressing that button will cycle between all the different “futures” after that history entry - meaning you will never lose work you have done. New 'Isometric Panel' makes it easy to setup and work with various axonometric projections within the application. HEIF images can now be loaded directly into Designer. If they contain a depth map, this will also be loaded as a second layer. Because depth maps are typically lower resolution than the main image, optional “smart” upsampling will be performed. Designer now supports custom document presets - a popular feature request. A new blend mode - Linear Burn - has been added. Layers Panel now allows you to tag individual layers with a colour and display thumbnails with transparent backgrounds and at different sizes. New “Move inside / outside” commands have been added - useful for quickly clipping/unclipping. New "Merge curves/Separate curves" commands. Grids now have an editable number of angle subdivisions. The Hard Mix blend mode has been improved. Numerous text improvements have been made - including new features such as bullets and numbering. Significant PDF import / export improvements and fixes. Improved Freehand import slightly - failing to read all of a file shouldn't force it to produce a 'failed to load' response, instead we just load the bits that we *could* read New splash screen and Persona icons Brushes Designer 1.7 introduces a new “sub-brush” mechanism, developed in conjunction with Paolo Limoncelli (DAUB® Brushes). This exciting feature allows any raster brush to have a list of other brushes attached which will draw at the same time. Each sub-brush has a fully separate and customisable set of dynamics. You can control when the sub-brushes are drawn and how they blend with the main brush. Symmetry (up to 32-way) is now supported - including on-canvas controls and optional mirroring. Wet edges and accumulation are now available on colour brushes and brushes with HSL variance. Brushes with multiple nozzle textures have always chosen the nozzle at random. In 1.7, the nozzle choice has a dynamic controller and ramp for greater control. All pixel brush tools now support left and right arrow keys for rotation - a common feature request. Adjustments The HSL adjustment layer has been rewritten. It now supports custom hue ranges, a new algorithm, new UI and picker controls. The Levels adjustment layer now supports output levels - a common feature request. The White Balance adjustment layer has been rewritten. The Selective Colour adjustment layer has been rewritten. PSD import / export of adjustments has been improved. The Vibrance adjustment layer has been rewritten. The Recolour adjustment layer has gained a lightness slider. 3. I have used Adobe AI for a long time for technical manuals and manufacturing documentation. I recently went looking for a replacement which was not subscription based and found Affinity Designer and within 4 hours was loving it! For me Affinity provides a better user experience and is more efficient. I am a big fan now! Going to test out the photo app next. Great job at Affinity!

  5. Hi! very happy to say that this week we've achieved 5k of subs on my youtube, thanks for everyone for keep up, I love to do my things on affinity designer, it's very friendly and inspiring! now in this one I did a Donut using Affinity Designer on ipad pro. enjoy! Best tips - Techniques 0:55 use the Erase layer mode to "Subtract" a shape behind, remember to keep the objects at the same group! 2:27 you can build shapes by drawing vector shapes - then you Expand Strokes at top menu 3:55 use pencil tool and sculpt the lines as you wish 4:02 you can add drop shadow FX on the group of lines and apply to them all
  6. Is there a way to convert a shape or curve to picture frame. I was designing a mockup in Designer and I wanted to import an image into a custom sized rectangle and have it adjustable within the shape to show parts of the image I want. Any good suggestions on how to do this? And if none, can this be added to Designer?

  8. I open my View drop down then go to the Studio option then open any panel and try to attach it to the Artboard and then the whole program crashes. I'm running MAC OS 10.14.5 (18F132). This hasn't happened until the most recent update. It keeps putting it in a mode where I have to boot the program and hold control to clear caches a lot.
  9. In "Guides Manager" why can't I change or add Margins?
  10. In Affinity Designer, is there a way to hide the blue outline surrounding the vectors on selected objects - similarly to how Adobe Illustrator hides the blue lines going forward by pressing "CTRL + H"? I often compare adjustments to a design by doing undos/redos and the blue vector outline changes what the design looks like. Thanks for any help!
  11. Can FCP X Open Affinity Photo/Designer Files? It would be great to be able to open Affinity Leyer files natively inside Final Cut Pro X and Motion!!! Is this posible?
  12. Hi, this might be a silly question but I was wondering if there was a way to position a group of objects closer or further away from a central anchor point without changing the size like you would by holding ⌘ and scaling from the center except without actually changing the scale. For the image below, I would like to move all the inner spokes of the wheel inwards without changing their size. I realize I can do this manually one by one but is there a way to do them all at once?

  14. Hi everyone! This practice is based on a real photo. I painted it with only 3 brushes, and again, truly love Affinity Designer! P.S. I am not bald, just for fun.
  15. Hello, my first day after registration and so on my first question. I´ve made a single File with different Artboards and want to export these as a single PDF File. How can I export (in Affinity Designer -iPad) these Artboards to a single PDF File with Individuals Pages? In the quick export menu, the drop-down button "Bereich" (Area) is grey, so I can´t select the individuals Artboards at all. With the Export Persona I can´t export in general. I´ve created for each Artboard a Slice but after i´ve tried to export them I only can choose the folder and not save them. Is there a Bug with the Export Persona for iPad? Thank You for help
  16. The new Affinity designer for iPad looks and feels awesome. I would love to see a similar version of the Designer on Windows 10 which uses the full potential of the Windows 10 touch functionalities. A direct copy of the iPad UI could be awesome.
  17. I was wondering if there was a way to group elements that are on different layers. For instance, I would like to group the 'compass' into one but still keep the 'document' sandwiched in between while not including the 'document' in the group. Is this possible? *see image for context*
  18. Hi Affinity, While I love the way OpenType features are handled much better than in Adobe, I really cannot navigate font superfamilies. If you have any family that has different weight groups then navigating through the font list is very difficult. Can you guys please fix the font organization. It really slows down my work otherwise. I am showing screenshots for one particular font family. I have licensed countless superfamilies and I really don't like working with them in Affinity products for this reason.
  19. Whenever I export an SVG file to an application for the browser the SVG Comes out with a style on it (style = "fill-opacity: 0"). This makes it annoying because every time I make an SVG they always have this style on it. I have to go into the file and remove this style attribute to make it work every single time I make an SVG. Is there a way when exporting to not have it display this style attribute?
  20. Hello! Help me find Clone Brush Tool (analog Clone Stamp Tool in Photoshop) in Affinity Designer, please ? Or how can I implement this tool in Affinity Designer?
  21. Hello! I have had a few issues recently that seems to be performance related (serious lag and erratic behaviour of node tool and move tool) I have attached a video of a work session (sorry if it's long and tedious, it's a realistic snippet of how I, and probably many others, have to work) I don't know how to put subtitles on a video so I will put a list below with the issues I found. Now, I must say, as it have been pointed out multiple times a smooth and/or simplify option on path and nodes would be greatly appreciated. I know that I will receive comments on the fact that I should learn to be proficient with a pen tool before trying to smooth paths, because that what I have been reading a lot on these forum. I get that most people who answer here are "creators", but I suspect a lot of us Designer users are what we call "artworkers". Meaning we have to work on files given to us by others (who don't care if their files make sense or not - they don't give a crap, they couldn't be bothered, don't even try to talk to them ) The case I am presenting here is a 146 kb .eps file provided by the studio in charge of digitizing the assets from Schultz estate. They provide those files (take it or leave it) to those who buy the licensing rights. My work here is to smooth out the jagged lines, because the scan was probably done, digitized via livetrace (and converted to .eps) from a small/damaged/blurry line drawing. So if you have the patience to go through the video, you'll see that the file has 81 layers (which I tried to organise a bit prior to recording the video). You'll see that I really lack the availability to use a smooth tool or a simplify option. I tried to use the "smooth" function in the contextual menu, but it makes little difference to the end result. so the list of issues with the timecode are below: 0.06: trying to use the space key to pan the canvas, it's either slow or simply not working (it sometimes does) have to use the navigator instead 0.14: Same with using the zoom (Space bar + CTRL) 0.38: Trying to select a shape with the node tool (it sometimes works) end up using the layer panel (wading through 81 layers) 1.24: The node tool now has a mind of its own. At the particular moment I am not even touching the tablet with the pen. I am just hovering over the drawing after clicking the node and the node tool has now picked up the node and travels with it. I get the same behaviour with a mouse. (but who would use a mouse?). Again, I am not clicking, nor click/draging the node. I have to do a number of CTRL+Z to restore state. 3.10: Happens again. As I said, the original file is 810 KB. It's 146 kb when saved as an afdesigner file. Beyond the lag/performance issue, I would like to plea for artworkers workflow to be taken into account in the development of the software. When I do an inventory of all the features I'd like to add (select similar for example) I can see that these are features aimed at modifying shapes and paths as opposite as creating new ones. It seems to me that the project managers had "creators" in mind and not artworkers (simplifying here), meaning that if you are working on a generic .eps or .ai file created by someone else, it's infinitely easier do it in Adobe Illustrator (because those feautres exist in .ai), whereas I have no trouble using all the - very well - thought-out tools of Affinity designer if I want to create a design from scratch (I am someone who is naturally very neat with her layer stack, and I always name and group my layers, it's even a breeze if someone has to work on my files ). But if you decide that your software isn't aimed primarily at artworkers, then I think you're losing out (particularly given the price and licencing model, artworkers are AD natural customers. Apologies for the Sundays ramblings.... Hope everything makes sense... record_000001.avi

  23. Hi Affinity community. I have 2 rectangles no stroke, I sheared them, then, flipped them, joined or aligned them to make a roof like element. But there is a line down the middle. I've done the same thing in Fireworks and it worked without producing the line. Even though it's zoomed in, I noticed it before I zoomed. It was worse in Designer but after clicking the View Mode buttons on and off it got better but not right. I've attached an image showing the 2 different results, there is 2 screenshots from each app to show they are 2 objects being joined. I'm trying to do more stuff in Designer but this type of thing slows the transition to where I resort back to Fireworks. Is this the same issue as is posted in these posts? Lines between (snapped) objects in editor - terrible quality at png Can someone explain why I get these thin lines? Thanks in advance for any help.
