  2. Hello everyone, I cannot launch affinity photo because of the theme I am using. Is this a way to bypass this and launch affinity photo anyway while keeping the theme I am using ? Thank you.

  5. Hello everybody, if you should run into problems with lunching Affinity Designer on Windows 7 due to Aero not beeing enabled (Yes it's wierd ... never seen a program depending on it but Affninity does for some good reasons), and if you might have a tweaked Windows setup (performance wise), or programs like TuneUp, kaspersky etc. modified the setup, you will have to force Aero to start again in order to get Designer working. The following should fix the problem as long as your graphics capable to run Aero: Open Registry Editor (RegEdit). Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM If the DWM registry key is not found, right click on Windows and then select New -> Key to create new branch and name it as DWM. In the right details pane, create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named UseMachineCheck, and set its value to 0. In the right details pane, create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named Blur, and set its value to 0. In the right details pane, create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named Animations, and set its value to 0. Restart the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager in Services in Control Panel (type Services.msc in Start Search), or run the following commands in a command prompt with administrator privileges: net stop uxsms net start uxsms Attempt to enable and apply Windows Aero in Windows 7. Restart the computer if required. Make sure to switch the Desktop appearance (Right-click a blank part of the desktop and choose Personalize) to some default Aero Theme, then you can apply your wallpaper again and start to enjoy Affinity. Hope that helps some Win7 users. Cheers and happy designing! :)
  6. I was excited to learn of the availability of Affinity Designer for Windows Public Beta. I downloaded it and installed it. The system here is Windows 7 Professional X64. I was concerned when during installation the installer told me that it would be best to have am Aero theme in place. I do not use an Aero theme, and do not care to. So I ignored the message and continued with the installation. When I tried to start the application, I found that the matter of the Aero theme was more than a suggestion. When the program found that the theme in place was not an Aero series theme, it gave me an error message and the program would not proceed to start. I find this a worrisome requirement. There are many implications in my operations of the choice of theme, and I do not really want to change to an Aero theme "just" so I can run Affinity Designer. What's the story here? Thanks. Best regards, Doug Kerr
  7. Hi guys, I wonder why Aero is really important as a performance factor? I am sure there many people out there who uses win7 disable aero feature BECAUSE of performance. It increases the RAM usage of OS. However you guys are saying you really really really really need our system is using aero theme. It makes me confused. Can you please give us more details if it's not kind of secret? I am using AffDes without aero and still did not face any problems yet. (May be i will)
  8. Because aero is mandatory to run the software, it is not possible to use a 10 bits video mode available on pro video cards and monitors. Tested on windows 7 and ati firepro card. Is 10 bits video mode supported on Windows 8 or 10 ?
