  1. This is of my composites I have been working on: This is the base image: This is the actresses on the left I chose to play the mother: As you can see, the hair is darker, is there anyway I can change the color to better match the new one's hair color?
  2. Hello everybody, I recently saw these designs for a Pear Logo on Dribbble by Second Eight. I love the overall aesthetic but I was hoping you could please provide some guidance on the following things: How would you go about creating the path of the spiral in Affinity Designer? Would you use a series of Boolean shapes and join their paths? If possible, please can you shed some light on how you would recreate this design? Is the second design simply the first one with a stroke applied to the border, or are there other steps to be aware of? Is it possible to get the gradient to follow the path of the spiral in Affinity Designer? If not, can this be achieved in Affinity Photo? Apologies if these are newbie questions! I will be grateful for any help you're able to provide. Thanks in advance!
  3. The app is undoubtedly the strongest image processor on the iPad, but there are some areas for improvement. 1. It is hoped that the painting function can be optimized well, and the protection against mis-touch is not perfect. There is still room for improvement in the smoothness and handiness of the brush, and the compatibility of the abr brush can be improved. If possible, I hope to have a painting mode, which is similar to the painting mode of artsudio pro. The painting experience will be much better. 2. I hope to add support for Chinese typesetting. China is a huge market, and it will be of great benefit to you to pay attention to this market. Due to the lack of Chinese typography support, many Chinese artists have to use Photoshop, whether it is a PC or an iPad. Hope the developers can see it, thank you.
  4. Good morning guys and gals! I am brand new to this software and forum, but I'm sure that I will be immersed soon. I've only owned Affinity Photo for 2 days, but I'm seeing issues with my old computer. I am using my school laptop as my main computer because it is all that is available right now. It has 8gb ram, 4 core i7, and a 256gb ssd. The computer itself handles the work I do fine (no video stuff and only simple photo edits with a max of 10 layers, usually only exposure related slider stuff). However, the issue I run into is that the computer only has 3 USB ports [ (2)3.1s and (1) c-type]. Since I use external hdds for all my photos, a wireless mouse, and a dongle for sd cards, I max out my ports without any space for additional stuff. I have used the dongles that give 3 or so ports from a single usb-c port, but that is ineffective in my case, since my computer ejects the dongle rather than the sd card plugged into it. I want to build a PC that can easily handle the extremely light photo editing I do, but doesnt cost more than $500, at the most. (I know, that is like wanting a brand new Prius for 10 grand LOL). My problem is that being new to this software I dont know what it needs to run well and how powerful a CPU or GPU it needs. I am looking at AMD specifically, but Intel would work if it's better and not much more expensive. Here are the builds I am thinking about to start, maybe upgrade parts if I can. Entry level intel. Top of my budget and not the best CPU etc, but would probably work as well as my laptop. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/hXzKHx/entry-level-intel-gaming-build The modest AMD build. I like this the best, but it is $140 over budget and 500 is really more than I should spend.... https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/csQzK8/modest-amd-gaming-build Entry level AMD. Closest to my budget and still pretty powerful. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/GFLrxr/entry-level-amd-gaming-build I already have a case that housed an hp Pentium computer. The specs state that it is a mid tower ATX. NOT microATX. I dont know if I could use that for one of these micro atx builds or if it is a totally different hole pattern etc. Basically, I need to know: 1. Do I need a GPU? If so how powerful? Will a ryzen integrated iGPU work? 2. How powerful of a CPU? If I get a Ryzen 5 with iGPU, will that work or do I need a heavier combo? 3. If I can use the existing PC case from my mom's old computer. (She upgraded to a chrome book so the PC is just sitting around taking up valuable shelf space.) I figure if I use it, it saves $30. Also, the psu should still work fine... 4. Peripheral stuff like psu, ram, etc. Thank you. I know this is a long post, but I need to figure this out soon so I can start looking for the parts. Again, i mostly want the computer for photo stuff. I have an xbox, so no games planned unless I get the "modest" AMD, then nothing too graphics heavy. I'm in engineering school, so I MAY use CAD software, but probably not a whole lot. Thanks again.
  5. Hey, I try to use my gradient tool making a tiny planet image, and while using my gradient tool (ans us it to create a mask), the image in the background disappears behind it. Any idea? Here is a screenshot of my situation attached to this message. Christophe

I often take some nice wildlife shots and am looking for advice on how I might improve them. This is one of an Egret and whilst I like the subject I am not sure about the water definition. And yes - I have just noticed the blue in the reed beds Any advice would be much appreciated. This is also a crop from a larger image so I do have more of the ripples
  7. Hi all. I just bought Affinity Designer on Sunday to take advantage of the sale. Except for minor edits to a couple of SVG files, I've not worked with vector art before (or really any art except my camera since I was at school about 24 years ago), and am enjoying it very much. I used to code software and considered it an artistic form of logic, and vector art seems to be a logical form of art. Well ... perhaps it's just the way my head works. But I did a couple of tutorials (one and a half anyway!) and am now working on a picture of two of my nieces. Intro over! Most of the work is just the foundation shapes and colours. Zoe's (the girl on the left) cheek line, laughter line, mouth (ouch, those squint teeth!) and nostril are just place holders. Her skin tones are what I was working on today, and I'm pretty much happy with. I realise I haven't yet done the shadows around her neckline, but at the moment I'm struggling with the nose. I just can't seem to get it right. I'm just wondering if some fresh sets of eyes might be able to see where I've gone wrong. Perhaps I've just been working on the picture for too long today. I'm attaching the picture so far, as well as the reference photo. And a close-up of the nose in case that helps. Any other criticism is welcome. They're both a few years older now (Zoe just left for university, and Emily is now ten), so I don't know if they'll like this. But I hope they'll like the gesture, and so I'd like to put the effort in. Tim PS Just noticed that maybe I need to add some more darker shades under the nose -- I've been concentrating on the ridge and sides. Unfortuantely I now need to get some work done and get to bed, but any input is more than welcome.
  8. Hi Just a quick question. How do I do this type of thing on Affinity Designer? (I'll see if I can attach an image, can't do it when submitting the topic) I'd like to explore better logo and icon designs but don't know how this can be replicated on AD. Thank you. Oliver
  9. Hey guys, I have created a logo and when i export it to PDF and open it the glitter tent opening i created from a shape turns into pieces, I've played around with layers and i don't know why its doing this? Then i just opened the exported SVG file of this and the whole glitter shape is gone , the white triangle which is the opening has also disappeared and the black tent its self is just there, why :( ? I'm sorry if this is a silly question but i have never had this issue before. Would it have something to do with the grouping? How ive exported it? What am I missing. Attached pictures are : 1 is a screen shot of my PNG file open which is clearly right and then the PDF open next to it with the glitter tent opening in pieces, and then the 2nd one is a screenshot of when i open the file in SVG ? Thank you and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this and possibly help me out here xo
  10. Hi Folks, This is my first real go at a more complex (Complex for me that is) design using AD. The plan is for this design to go onto a tee shirt but I wanted to offer it up on here first to get some feedback and pointers. The title is "Bay the Force be with you", its my take on Big Hero 6 being crossed with Star Wars. The design is not 100% complete yet but the basic design is there and I thought this would be a good time to offer it up for some helpful feedback. The areas I have struggled with mainly are... 1> Symmetry - If you look closely you will see that the helmet does not sit central to the body, when I try to get it central it seems to throw the rest of the design out. This, I am finding, is a common issue for me when I try to create something. 2> Shading - I have no real idea how to perfect the shading on this. As you can see 90% of the image is a white colour which made creating definition between things such as the helmet, armour, body, arms and legs really hard. Any advice on this would be HUGELY welcome. Any other points you can see that you think are worth mentioning then please feel free. Thanks folks Mark Bay the Force be with you v1.0.afdesign
  11. Hi Folks, Not sure this post fits in anywhere on the forum but being as this place is full of really helpful experienced people I thought I would try it anyway. I have been playing around with a design (AD) for a t shirt I am looking at getting done. Would anyone out there be willing to have a look at my design and offer some "creative" feedback on how I can improve it. Every day is a learning day! Sorry if this post is not appropriate to the forum. Any chance a form could be set up on here for such exchanges between designers to share ideas? just a thought. Cheers Folks Mark
