  1. Hi everybody! Started with AD and AP a short time ago and just ask myself how to release masks on multiple object. You should see on my screenshot of the Layers panel what I mean. Right now I have to click on each mask seperately and choose "Release Mask" which is pretty annoying with donzens of curves/objects. Thanks for your help and have a great Sunday! Tom
  2. Hey everyone, I cringe a little at the default (and sadly the only available, for now) node tool action. When a segment is dragged, its adjacent nodes change directions, just like it works in Inkscape (last time I checked, at least). This is a real deal breaker when it comes to more precise jobs like logo design, modifying letterforms (not to mention creating them from scratch, although I know there are dedicated tools out there for that) etc. In Illustrator, this the the only mode of editing, in Photoshop there is a choice between a «legacy mode» as they called, which functions the old way (preferred in my case), and the default mode (like AD works). Such a choice would be ideal, wouldn't it? :) This is what I mean in case my description wasn't clear enough (left, AD, right, AI). best regards, Matt
  3. Hi, I have learned that a symbol is marked as symbol by getting the suffix "(Symbol)" but also by getting an orange stripe on the left in the layers panel. But what means a dashed stripe (see "logo banner" in the screenshot)? Thanks, Stefan.
  4. Hi I'm using Affinity Photo mainly, but now I'm trying to do the following: I have a logo in format .eps with a transparent background. To use it for a blog on wordpress.com it needs to be in format .png or .gif (http://bit.ly/2qcmX81). When I open the .eps in AD and export the logo, how can I keep the background transparent? Thank you.
  5. Hi, I hope you can understand my poor English  I tried to make a poster from an Illustartor-tutorial. There is a hill with 2 peaks of snow. In the AI-version is a eraser-tool used, to achieve a rough edge of the snow. AD does not have an eraser, so I used the vector-brush-tool. And it worked well. But the colour of the hill was not satisfying, so I did change it. And also, I wanted to change the colour of the vector-brush. And that did not work at all. I made a video using the history of AD. There are 2 videos, they are showing a simple version in 2 ways, because it was not possible to record the layer-palette and the history completely on one screen. I wanted to change the dark blue colour to another one (not that awful green, but it's good for demonstration purpose), either the hill as well as the erased snow, but the snow should stay white. As you can see, that either the dark blue erased object, made by the vector-brush, did not change the colour to green, or the snow became green. What is wrong? How can I change the colour of the brushed snow from dark blue to green?
  6. Some issues I've been facing on the Export persona in AD (1.5.3.6x public and beta): Slices don't always get the name of the artboard. If you rename the artboard the slice will keep the old name. If you're duplicating artboards this causes an issue where many slices have the same name and they'll be overwritten upon export I have a document with over 10 artboards (each one gets a slice). If I zoom out and select them on the Slices panel I can't tell which one is selected or not. Due to the naming issue above it's really hard to tell which of the artboards is selected since some have the same name and you can't see the selection border. The selection border gets hidden behind the slice blue border. There needs to be a way to completely hide (toggle show/hide) the slices markings In the Layers panel (back in Vector Persona) if you double-click a layer AD will zoom it in to fit the viewport. This would be very, very useful in export persona too, in the Slices panel. Double clicking a slice in the listing would zoom into that slice. Using the Slice tool sometimes selects an existing slice and sometimes it tries to create a new slice over an existing one. The behavior changes depending on zoom level and it's hard to replicate. The Slice Selection Tool selects objects within the artboard instead of the slice Selecting a artboard-slice by its name only works at greater zoom levels (100% or larger) There needs to be actions (buttons or kbd shortcuts) to select all/select none slices Selecting a slice highlights it on the Slices panel listing but does not scroll to it Thanks for reading :)
  7. Hi all, I cannot find the information of the dimension of my selection. If I use the rectangle marquee tool around my design - I supposed to see the dimension of the current selection in the transformation panel, or in the navigator. But there is none. Because now I have to "guess" and create my artboards by eye, move the content of my mockup into the artboard and adjust the artboard afterwards. Thanks, Stefan.
  8. Hi all, I have a "problem" with the current "open recent file" behavior. status quo: - if "file ABC" has been opened and you step into the open recent file menu, choose that file, nothing happens - I see the point, because it is already open BUT if you have altered the file that behavior does not make sense anymore. It even confuses and causes unnecessary clicks if you want to get the file in its original state. BECAUSE - nothing happens if you have chosen to (re)open "file ABC" By other programs I am heavily used to the behavior that I will be prompted by a file dialog (offering the cancel, save change before the file will be loaded or open without saving the modification). That's exactly what I expected here. Cheers, Stefan
  9. No doubt again something simple, again probably a simple fix, but I've already conceded my infant level AD knowledge - help please. How do y'all explain the following behavior upon my reducing the image size in AD, on a 3 month old MacBook Pro running AD 1.5? I've attached 4 thumbnails below to help illustrate. I drag a me-made asset (that stupid black tote bag) onto a photographic image of Bigfoot in an attempt create a crude image of him carrying a black tote bag with a logo on it. Obviously, the scale of the tote is way too large so I begin to reduce it's size. I used both the Transform Panel (W+H) as well as constraining via Shift/Drag. In both cases, the smaller I reduce, the more I see proportional changes in certain layers in the logo (which are grouped). I did NOT have the 'Loch Children' box ticked - would this have bearing on the effect I'm getting? Most obvious IMO is the change in the curvature around the black 'C'...just saying. Thanks for any help! (I love playing with this program - can't wait 'til i have a better grasp of it all) -Christo
  10. Hello friends, how can I open more than one instance of AP & AD? I have two monitors and work on two different projects, am still young and multitasking capable ;) Since I can use AP / AD only as an instance, I'm forced to edit the second project parallel under Adobe CC (I find Adobe's licensing policy horrible!) and wants to get away from all Adobe products! Can you help me? ChristAlix
  11. Hi; I've found an unexpected behaviour (unexpected for me, of course) when adding a text to a circle shape. I was trying to write the text all around the circle by outside, but instead when I've written half the text, it jumps down and to the inner part of the circle (see attached image). Is there any way to prevent this, a workaround, or I'm doing sthing wrong? Thanks in advance; Val
  12. Hey guys, Is there a way to reflect an object in Affinity Designer? I know I can duplicate an item, flip it and then move it to create the reflection. But is there a way I can do it in a single click? Thanks
  13. Hi, juste as the title says, I wanted to know if i can find photo filters (or export some from photoshop) and if so where can i find them ?
  14. Obwohl ich Text in Schwarz (RGB 0-0-0) angelegt habe, wird er im PDF-Export zur Mischfarbe (CMYK 89-78-62-97). Was mache ich falsch? Although I created text in black (RGB 0-0-0), he becomes in the pdf export the mixed color (CMYK 89-78-62-97). By the way: I tried CMYK 0-0-0-100, also the Black/White Circle. No differenz. What do I make wrong? Kalle
  16. I've been slowly trying to populate my assets pane and its quite annoying that there is only the category and sub category to work with. I'm not looking for a windowsesque infinity of folders but it would be nice if we could have an alpha category or another layer of sub category. For example, say I create a website, social media, icons or w/e category and populate them with different categories and sub categories. Just 1 more level to keep things clean and tidy. Was thinking something like Websites/Footers/ [Cullyns] GradeUi Bootstrap Foundation etc Icons/ Font Awesome Foundation Material Design Hancon etc And others (Misc/DaubPapers, social media broken down by brands) as need be to clean it all up rather than just having a really long list of asset categories then a list of like 22 dropdowns (in GradeUI's case) full of assets. A couple more ideas: Being able to organise the sheets so its easier and faster to find items would be great. Being able to drag the categories up and down the list would be great rather than re-populating it also regardless of the order you installed them, your favourites or most used should be easiest to get to. Unless this is already possible, can we import an asset sheet as a sub category? that might be a useful quick fix (did he just say quick fix? (lol not a programmer!)) for all the icon assets at least though I'm not sure how having hundreds of icons in one sheet will affect the programs performance. Anyways, loving the program, looking forward to seeing where all this goes.
  17. in both Photo and Designer, how do we toggle the blue bounding boxes on and off? Not so much an issue in Designer, but in Photo its essential... you can't see your composition clearly with that blue box distracting you, especially when creating digital art and photo retouching. Help to find this option in the menu would be appreciated!
  18. Back when I started Beta testing AD for Windows (which seems like a long time ago, even though it was not :)), naturally, I went through all the official AD tutorials on Serif’s web site (and some unofficial ones on YouTube) to see what it can do, so I know what to test. Having watched them all, some more than once, I concentrated on the testing. Well, just today, I went back to the Serif tutorial pages and was pleasantly surprised to find a number of new tutorials specific to v.1.5. They have added many nice new features I didn’t know about. If you have not visited the tutorial pages lately, I suggest you do so. Not just so you can get impressed (which you will), but so you know what new things you may want/need to test, since of course if we don’t know about some of the features, we won’t Beta test them. Adam P.S. No doubt some of the people reading this work for Serif’s competition. That’s fine, of course. I do, however, want to suggest you make sure to be seated when you go visit the newest tutorials, as you may get quite dizzy seeing all the new ideas and things. :P
  19. Is it possible to select a specific page when I place a pdf in AD? Now I got no dialogue box and all the pages are grouped in one big layer. Thanks !
  20. Hi, When I add assets to the assets panel, if the assets are elongated only a part of the asset is shown in the thumbnail, which looks a bit odd (e.g. see attached screenshot). It might be better to scale them such that the longest dimension of the asset fits within the boundaries of the thumbnail area. Cheers, Oliver.
  21. Hi, I'm loving the new 'Symbols' feature in AD1.5 beta. I'm wondering if it would be possible to save libraries of symbols that persist across sessions? Such that when one opens a new document, it is possible to have a default (or perhaps selectable by a drop down menu) library of custom shapes available to insert into the document? Cheers, Oliver.
  22. Hi there, Affinity fo Windows team) Are there any plans of making AD and AP as UWP apps for Windows 10? If yes - when, if no - why?
  23. Hi, everyone! As I haven't found any topic on this, so the decision was made to post a new one. I have one elliptical shape, which I want to be distributed along any free line at certain density. Something like the image below, only at much higher density, but just so you can understand my needs. Maybe just a simple vector brush would do? But I haven't figured out how to make one. — the shape actually mustn't rotate; needs to stay in its default orientaiton — I would prefer the shape to have an exact dimensions (set in milimeters) — variable density would be useful, but not necessary Is there a way to do this in Affinity Designer? I need this for typeface design :) Thank you.
  24. Hey guys! Im setting up my document for wallpaper creation - (sidenote) I think we need all apple devices in, not just mobile. It would be nice to have iMac 5K, iMac 4K, 15" MBP Retina as options and iPad Pro 9.7 Anyways. When I did Device>iPad Pro>Insert Artboard - It gave a resolution higher than 5K Same goes for iPhone 6 Plus, 6, and 5 It would be nice to get the exact resolution that the website details. Is this a bug, or is there a reason Im not figuring out?
  25. Hi everyone, I locked an object in AD and for some reason it doesn't allow me to select it or even use unlock so i move it around. Is there something I'm missing here? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
