  1. Hello, as a long time photoshop(also seeing same mechanic on Sketch), I'd like to be able to hold zoom and click in order to zoom in and hold z+alt+click in order to zoom out. Right now when I hold Z or Z+alt, I hear repeated error sound, which is really annoying.
  2. Hi, I experienced the following quite often: when I'm zoomed out, to have a good overview of my doc, I move objects as exactly as I can ... and to make it perfect I zoom in and do the rest. If u use the arrows (Shift+arrows) you will notice that it happens regularly that the when you are zoomed in, the first hit on an arrow will the objects not move 1px as expected - it seems that the distance the object moves, would "match" the distance of the former ZoomLevel or something like that. Cheers, Stefan AD_BugTranslationAfterZoom.mov
  3. I know how to bring up the Measurement guides by holding CMD with an object selected. However, at 100% this is fairly useless for objects near one another, as the label font is microscopic (see attached.) How can I make it so I can actually read the text without needing to zoom in to ~1200% every time? Thanks!
  4. Why there is error sound come out when I press space+cmd+click for zoom in or space+opt for zoom out. I use version 1.5.
  5. Hi, I found the following issue: 1. zoom into your document/content so that you can scroll 2. click and hold (via mouse) the eye dropper tool to find your color 3. use your trackpad to scroll > expected: canvas content starts to scroll > status quo: you cannot scroll at all AND after release of mouse click, you the canvas scrolls The scroll-command + its input values are obviously buffered and executed after mouse release. Cheers, Stefan
  6. Hello together, I dont use mouse wheel to zoom, I am working with a wacom. On a wacom, zooming in Designer always breaks up my workflow, because when e.g. using the move tool and then change into zoom with "z", I also have to switch back to the former tool by an additional keystroke. My suggestion is, if the z key is kept pressed while moving the mouse and is then released after mouse movement started/occured, designer automatically switches back to the last used tool. This - in my opinion - integrates zooming more into a fluent way of working with designer (not only on a wacom). Also leave a short single press to switch to zoom tool as a "permanent" tool. A timing threashold will be needed, I think. Thanks and regards
  7. When using the zoom tool by holding down the Z key and either clicking or clicking and dragging, I hear a "ding" sound over and over. In most design applications, I can hold down the Z key and click or drag to zoom. While it works in Affinity, the "ding" sound is quite annoying. I realize it's not necessary to hold down Z, but in programs like Sketch, as soon as you release Z you go back to your previous tool. I definitely prefer this behavior because there's not much point of still being on the zoom tool once you're done zooming.
  8. Not sure if this is actually a bug or intended behavior, but it feels strange to me: when I zoom in on node handles, they disappear after a certain zoom level. I can't pinpoint the exact zoom level at which this happens, but I'm attaching screenshots of the behavior. If that's by design, I think I'd be better to leave the handles visible at all zoom levels. I often do fine aligning on nodes and handles and being able to really get in there is very useful. Also, it'd be great if we could enter coordinates for the handles, not just the nodes. I think this was already mentioned a couple of times in Feature requests.
  9. Hey, at the moment, I work with a tiled background - I made a dotted tile symbol and copied it over and over, aligning the copies via grid & ctrl j. The tiles dimensions are 100x100 px. When I'm using the mousewheel to zoom, gaps show up between the tiles. They disappear when switching to pixelviews or to zoomlevels like 100%, 200%. Might be a rounding issue. ~Andrej PS: I hope this is not a duplicate, I went through all five pages of search results for "zoom"
  10. Is there a way to set the mouse wheel to zoom instead of scroll? This would mimic the default behavior of CorelDraw and a setting that can be enabled in Inkscape. I am married to the mouse wheel zoom. It serves as zoom, scroll and pan all in one.
  11. Hello Affinity Users! It's my first post and i am only getting started working with AD :-) My first question: the zoom tool..... Is there an Option like in Photoshop to deactivate the dynamic zoom? THX! Harry
  12. Hello I just buy Photo and I'm disappointing because one on a most important feature for me is reactivity when navigating through the document and I have found this problem : Zooming a document with spacebar command or space bar alt in slow and jerky - so not reactive : I can see an inertia between the zooming in the rule and the zooming of the vue. It's better with cmd+ or cmd-, but I don't like these shortcut because it need the two hands. I search in the forum and I have try, with no success : restart Photo with CTRL to reinitialize try with différent photo size 1k to 3k try with différent photo format : jpg, psd try all combination in the Preferences : GPU, OpenGL try with no other application running My computer : OSX10,11,4 MacPro Early 2008 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 10 Go 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 Mo I hope that this problem could be resolve because it's difficult to use Photo without a good zooming system. And I would like to use it as an alternative of Photoshop as Photo has a great potential. Excuse my poor english and thank you for answering.
  13. I'm working on the 5K iMac. When I take a screenshot of an window and open the File in Affinity Photo the following happens: Zooming to 100% shows the window as big as it would on a non-Retina screen (I can deal with it, but Photos.app uses 100 % for pixel perfect view) The screenshot looks pixelated as it has been taken on a non-Retina Mac Zooming to 50% shows the window in its real screen size, but also pixelated Zooming back to 100% shows the retina resolution, the pixelation is gone Zooming to 50% shows again the pixelated non-Retina version, so text is not that crisp like in the original Changing the DPI from 144 to 72 without rescaling makes zooming consistent and always shows the retina pixels Bonus annoyance ;-): With both dpi values I have not found a zooming shortcut which shows me the screenshot pixel perfect on screen Cmd+1 and Cmd+9 behave the same I've attached a screen recording of this bug.ScreenFlow.mp4.zip
  14. I know there's got to be a quick keyboard shortcut to activate the Select tool from a Zoom state, but I cannot make any of the shortcuts I'm seeing work. When I zoom up close, then click on the item in the layers list, the selection tool displays on the list; but when I go back to my workspace and click (which is intuitive behavior for me because I feel like I've selected already), I zoom in another level, which I never want. (I'm usually custom-kerning type when I do this.) I have to remember to click the layer, mouse to/select the Selection tool, and then click on the workspace. I'm wasting an awful lot of time having to do this and, when I forget, to undo the extra zoom level, then click through everything again. The screenshots I've attached don't show the relevant cursors, but in the smaller image, I'm clicking on the layer TITLE in the layers list and I've got a selection-tool cursor. When I go back to the workspace, the cursor shows the zoom-plus tool, and if I click on it I get zooming, which I don't want. Ideally, I wish I could change the behavior so when I click on the layer TITLE, it switches me into selection mode in the workspace by default. What am I doing wrong? Or what is the quickest way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? TIA. Diane
  15. Hello! Welcome the first time and Congratulations! I work for 12 years at Adobe, Ai and I am glad that I can now work on Affinity. Fingers crossed! My first request. Management views. I miss: Rapid popup menu with views zooming options. Currently it is: After turning on the zoom icon (z) can choose from a menu pop up the amount of magnification. I wish it was still on the list: 1. the name of defined views from the View menu / Views 2. The ability to change the name and assign shortcuts to them. The list should be scrolling. Best to show in the entire contents. It has to be fast. Great that you can now define your own Views taking into account not only larger but also the rotation of the whole canvas. It's very simple to design such systems. Packaging. Thank you and best regards.
  16. Hi, This has been annoying for me ever since day one. I am using a 27 external monitor for my mini. When I create a new document or open an existing one, as long as the document size is smaller than the available viewport, the document will zoom to the full possible extents of the viewport. If you create or open a 32x32 pixel document, just for the sake of illustration, then your full viewport (nearly 2560x1440) will be filled with a huge white, empty canvas (in case of a new document), or with a pixelated blob (if an existing document). This is due to the fact that the document will be resized to the available viewport space. Why!? I understand that when a new or existing document is bigger than the available viewport size, it will be scaled so the full document will fit and be visible in the viewport. But if the new or existing document is smaller than the available viewport space, why can't the document just be opened at it's actual size and let ME (aka the user) decide whether I want to zoom in on it or not?
  17. I have been using Designer for over a year, everything works perfectly. Today I got the update to AD 1.4 and also decided to test AP. I have some lag using zoom, all levels. Something very annoying. I do not know if this is a problem of performance. I tried to change the preferences and nothing happened, the problem remains. In Photo the performance is terrible. -- MacBook Pro 13" retina - late 2013 cpu: i5 2,4GHz ram: 8GB ssd: 256GB Intel Iris 1536MB OS X: 10.11.2 A.Designer 1.4 A.Photo 1.4 (trial) ad-zoom-lag.mov ap-zoom-lag.mov
  18. When I open an AI vector image and zoom in to more than 100%, the image is extremely pixelated even though it consists only of vector curves. Is there a way to get Affinity to show vector images as smooth curves like in AI?
  19. Hi, I'm currently investigating the AP Trial. I noticed when zooming out on a PSD file I was working on that, at a 25% zoom value, the bottom and right-hand edges of the image are distinctly brighter (seems to be 1 or 2px thickness along the edge of the image). If I zoom in or out from 25% the bright edges disappear, but they always reappear at 25% zoom. I've attached a PNG screenshot. Needless to say the bright edges are not part of the stored image. My image is a 16bit RGB PSD file, 2942 x 2942 px. I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.10.5. Many thanks, Matt
  20. When I create a document which is 72 pt both in height and width, clicking neither the "actual size" button nor "100%" button in the view tab shows a 1-square-inch canvas shown precisely on the screen, which I believe should've been the normal case. Incidentally, "100%" actually is smaller than the "actual size". However, as to a document that is 1 inch (with is equivalent to 72 pt, I believe) both in height and width, clicking "actual size" button and "100%" button both shows exactly the same and correct size of the document, which is a 1-square-inch canvas shown precisely on the screen. Is it a bug? Or do I misunderstand any concepts? What's the difference between 100% size and actual size? I can't really tell according to the words. p.s.: my OS is OS X 10.11 15A279b.
  21. The attached drawing is part of a large drawing. It's large enough that it won't fit on my screen at 100% zoom. In this portion of the drawing there are several shapes with a fill and a stroke. Both are shades of gray. The shapes are set to fit snugly against each other. Then the stroke is centered. So the strokes overlap. There is a red background. As I zoom out the strokes turn transparent. It doesn't seem to matter if the stroke is inside, outside or centered. The color of the stroke makes little difference. How can I stop the strokes from turning transparent when zoomed to 25% or less? Thank you. Test30.afdesign
  22. Hello there. I studying Affinity Designer — it's awesome app. Thank's for your work! With new update 1.3.5 from Apple Store i'm notice different behaviour for Zoom Tool. How i can revert marquee for Zoom tool? I find it very useful for precise zooming.
  23. Is it possible to have this shortcut/function? I found it more easy to navigate and zoom in and out, rather than cmd/+ cmd/-.
  24. APhoto When I double click the Zoom tool, it should zoom the document to 100% - I'd say...
  25. Hi, I just tested installed today affinity from the app store and tested the radial and zoom blur and it has seriously ugly results. It seems that affinity is doing blur effects downsampled which is logical for preview but in the final result it should process the whole picture and not use only the proxy thumbnail which makes the artefacts. Also if the effect run on GPU they feel little slow. I have only one layer and the image is 3k x 2k the preview should be much faster on GPU, We do game development and we use blur filters in real-time 60fps on mobile on retina displays... The seems little bit slow in comparison. My Mac Book is Apple MacBook Pro 15-Inch Retina Display (2014) the first photo is from affinity the second one is from photoshop
