  1. Hi there, I tried up update Affinity Photo from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1 last night, but I had an error show up during the installing stage which then led to the following message appearing: "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\d3dcompiler_47.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory." Has anybody encountered this issue? If so, does anybody know how to resolve it? Thanks in advance. P.S. I also had the same problem with trying to update Affinity Designer from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1. The Affinity folder has also seemingly disappeared from my C:\ Drive.

  3. Hi there Just installed Publisher on my Windows 10 PC. It crashes instantly when opening .aps files (created on a MAC) and creating any New Document rendering the software totally useless. I've restarted several times and refreshed the cache. See attached for crash reports.   5. Grouping items where a contour has been applied breaks when dragging the group....... Create artistic text. Duplicate. Contour top item to be smaller. Add stroke to top item Group. If one then selects the two items within the group and drags, they move correctly [lower part of image]. If one selects the group as a whole, [upper part of image] and drags, the drawing parts move differently, as if the scaling of the contour is affecting the movement?   6. I guess the subject says it all. Right now if we get an upgrade it's free because it still hasn't reached 2.0. What happens if we purchase the programs in Windows 10 Store and the update from 1.x to 2.x goes live? Just a question. Because I'm thinking of rebuying the software on Windows 10 Store (for automatic updates).
  7. Prior to exporting my document to PDF, preflight said TOC needed updating. I hit the FIX option and Publisher crashed. I have version 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10.
  8. UPDATE: This issue is now resolved in the 1.9.0 update which is now available from the Affinity Store and Microsoft Store. We've had reports that our apps no longer start after installing the Windows 10 October 2020 (20H2) update. This update is changing the default Device profile in Colour Management to a Virtual profile. If you see the below information in Application Logs in Event Viewer after trying to start our apps - Description: The process terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception information: System.ArithmeticException Exception information: System.OverflowException at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.ColorConvertedBitmap.FinalizeCreation () at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage.FinalizeCreation () at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage.EndInit () at Serif.Affinity.ResourceManager.GetBitmapSourceCore (System.String) at Serif.Affinity.UI.AboutDialog..ctor (Boolean) at Serif.Affinity.Application.RunSingleInstance () at Photo.Application.Main (System.String []) Please go to Colour Management > Advanced > Windows Colour System Defaults and change the Device profile from scRGB virtual device model profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Once changed, the app should run as expected.
  9. Photo was working fine . But brush stopped working on all adjustments. The brush appears when the adjustment layers is inverted and you are trying to apply an adjustment, but it will not paint on the image.
  10. Hi, I've been having this issue recently and i'm not sure how to fix it. While i'm in the program, everything looks fine (as shown in attachment 1) but when I save I get black boxes on the images (attachment 2). I've tried changing the resolution/canvas sizes. But because i'm not sure of what's causes the issue, i'm not sure of how to solve it. I'm working with a PSD that I saved as an afphoto file after editing the mockup file to my liking. Affinity Photo 1.8.5. 703 on Windows 10 This really hinders me as a big part of my job is to present my designs to clients. Anyone know how to fix this?
  11. I installed The Nik Collection as a plug-in in Affinity Photo. Attached is screen shot of AP with Nik opened. As one can see Nik is too small to use. Any ideas to fix this problem? NIK 2.pdf
  12. Hi Affinity revolution people. I'm in love with all three producst on Windows, but there has been a huge problem for me for the last couple of versions. Totally suddenly, my Windows 10 (Version 1903 x64 KB4497165) stops reacting to all keystrokes, the mouse moves for approx 10 seconds, then freezes as well. This happens in Publisher only, no other application has ever behaved like this. I just have to perform a hard system reboot by pressing power button for 5 seconds, nothing else helps. I remember having the 1.7.2 for a long time and then jumping to 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 and the latest one I've spent a lot of time with is 1.8.3.641. All of them did this to me at some point. Regardless of the file I was working on, sometimes after a few seconds after starting up, sometimes after 2 hours of work. Thank God for the autosave. Previously I was accusing my Duet app, which is listed in the Windows troublemakers, but even without it installed the problem persists. My Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga P40 has both a dedicated GPU and an Intel integrated GPU, maybe the problems might stem from here. I'm not sure.   13. Pretty new user here, and have a question: Can I save a crop/rotate and apply that on other images? I have some identical product images, bust some lit, not lit etc. I want to apply the same crop & rotate at all of them. I didn't see any save crop function, so i ask.

OS: Windows 10 ver. 2004, build 19041.338 Affected product: Affinity Designer 1.8.4.693 (non Microsoft store version) Hardware: Microsoft Surface Book 1st Gen (i5 6300u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd) Microsoft Surface Pen (battery level 61%) Issue: When dragging nodes/lines or when resizing objects in Designer while using pen input the line/object/indicator will glitch and flash rapidly. More info: This issue first appeared for me after upgrading to version 1.8.4.693, it was not present in the earlier version i was using but that version was out of date and i do not know the version number. I believe the build i was using was installed around March this year. This issue does not seem to be present in Affinity Photo, i did not test in Publisher. The issue is only with pen input, both mouse and touch inputs seem unaffected at this time. General drawing and other activities are unaffected by the glitching. This happens on both new and current projects. The issue is present in all performance modes for the laptop, from power save to full performance mode while plugged in. This issue still occurs when a different Surface pen is used. As a troubleshooting step, all user settings were reset to default by holding CTRL on startup, issue still present.   16. Hello- I am a new Affinity user (got the program this January.) I have questions about the Develop persona. I shoot with a Nikon D7000 and use a Dell laptop running Windows 10. I find that NEF RAW files usually display as very dark in the Develop persona and lighten significantly when I hit "Develop" and move to the regular Photo persona. Then I have to re-adjust the levels if I want to get it back to how the photo appeared after edits in Develop. The confusing thing is, this does not happen with every image, and I can't figure out which variables differ between the photos that preview accurately in Develop and the photos that do not. It might have to do with which specific edits I applied in Develop, and this issue may come up more with photos that were already on the darker end of the spectrum. I have checked my monitor display settings and they seem to be OK. Is there something I can do to make the Develop persona provide a more accurate preview of how the photo will appear in the main Affinity Photo Persona? Is there something basic I am missing?   17. It's been a while since I've been able to use Affinity Photo but not that I'm retired I am getting back into it but have already run into a problem with printing. I've already searched the forum for all posts pertaining to a magenta color cast on prints. Some of them are quite old and I've tried most of the suggestions posted but still don't have a solution to my printing problem. Most of what I've been able to find online and on this forum tells me that the issue is "double color correction" and that only the printer or the app should control the image color and that Print Preview should be turned off. To that end I have tried setting the Affinity print settings both ways, Performed by App and Performed by Printer. In each of them I've opened the Printer Properties and selected the opposite setting to avoid the conflict between app and printer, but to no avail. I've also tried printing out of Windows Photo Viewer and got the same results which leads me to think the printer is at fault. But even selecting "no color management" in the printer driver gives the magenta color cast on the print. I am printing from my HP Envy laptop to my Epson WF-7610 and cannot get a decent image to print. I've uploaded a screen capture of my printing settings and a copy of the pitiful results. Hopefully someone can point me to a solution to this printing dilemma before I run out of paper. I've already gone thru half a ream, luckily it's just multi-purpose white for these test prints.   18. I'm using Affinity Photo v1.8.3 and I'm looking in the Brushes area in the top right. The instructor in the class I'm taking (it was recorded a few years ago, and he's using v1.6.x on a Mac) has a Brushes area that has a bunch of stuff in it (e.g. a bunch of different Textures are displayed below the select box that has 'Textures' as one of its options). Here's what it looks like: In my APhoto, I do get the Brushes select box, and it has more or less the same options in it as the instructor's screen. However, no matter what option I select, the area below the select box remains blank. Weirdly, the scrollbar on the right side of that pane indicates that there's more than one pane's height worth of stuff in the pane, and if I click in the pane, a (blank) row is selected, though it doesn't seem to do anything to the Paint Brush that I'm using, no matter which of those phantom rows is selected. Here's what that looks like: Needless to say, I'm having trouble following the class as I don't have any brushes but the instructor does. And APhoto is acting like I have some in the list, but just not displaying them to me.
  19. I've had the XP-PEN 15.6 Pro display for 2 days. I'm trying to work with Affinity Photo. In general it seems to me that is fine, but I found a problem. When I use the brush without the stabilizer, while drawing instead of showing the drawing point with the circle of the brush, the arrow-shaped cursor remains visible, which is annoying. The arrow disappears only if I press and hold the right button while drawing. I would not like, however, that by using it very much, the right button would be ruined. If I set the stabilizer, the cursor remains with the circle shape of the brush even without pressing the right button. Has anyone experienced this particular problem? Thanks if there's a solution that I can't find by myself.
  20. Hello, everybody. I have a lot of performance issues in affinity photo. I have : - Windows 10 - i5-4690k - 16gb RAM - GTX 960 4GB I've been searching through the forums and I've seen that maybe there are some options turned on that make the software perform badly. I don't know if there is any combination of settings that will improve performance, it is very frustrating to work on affinity photo. I ALWAYS end up closing it because I can't even move a curve line smoothly. Thank you all in advance!
  21. It would be great if there was a pen / stylus only mode like in some drawing apps. This would allow the user to draw, paint and work on the canvas. At the moment it senses whenever you touch the screen making using a pen with a touchscreen very difficult.
  22. I looked up the original document and used font has a size of 10 or 7,5 pt. Marking a cell with a big special character tells me it is no 32pt plus a font never used in this table. These big special characters make everything a bit confusing. See attached image.
  23. I recently purchased your Ad, AP, APub softwares and use it well. Window 10 However, when APub using,selecting Fonts, it is very slow or does not work. I have just 90 fonts in directory windows fonts. help me
  24. Question about handling of ICC profiles in case of multiple monitors. I have a NEC wide gamut display as main monitor. and a Huion Kamvas as drawing tablet monitor. Both are calibrated and have their respective ICC profile assinged in Windows. As I understand it, Affinity Photo respects the ICC profile assigned to monitor which is marked as "standard monitor" in Windows. If I now move Affinity Photo to the drawing tablet monitor, I assume it uses the wrong profile. Is this assumption correct and if yes, is there a way to solve this situation?
