  1. Closing an image with the X-Button always meant to me aborting / discarding of actions / changes and closing the window. In the Develop Persona it gets more complicated. If you want to close the window with the image you'll get the warning "The current file is being developed. Please complete or cancel before closing the document.". Then you have to press the OK-Button (Action 1), then press the Cancel-Button (Action 2), then press the Yes-Button (Action 3). Pretty much action for simply closing a window and aborting everything in my opinion.
  2. Selection smoothing is way too strong always. how i can do very tiny smoothered border? i imagfined using these values using refine selection: Border width 0%,Smooth 0px,Feature 0px,Ramp 100%. but is not close at all. a nd tested other values as well no luck either. this prevew looks i think most close what i mean. and without antials shape is perfect but of course without smooth border but when i get smooth border is smotoh in way too large area is my problem. want somehing what is one pixel or such in thickness. there is example image made with gimp looks perfectly what i mean. is painful use multiple programs and now somehow gimp is unstable. and this selction is made its lasso tool. like how selection works otherways but smooth area is too BIG.
  3. Document has three pages, facing pages starting right. Deleting page 3 without problem, deleting page 1 leads to instant crash. There is no problem deleting pages, when I change the document to non-facing pages. Edit: Noticed by the way. When there is only one page left you are not allowed to delete this page, but the trash can indicates that you can delete this page, so the trash can should be deactivated in this case.
  4. SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH When I use brush tool it works like opacity is low i the middle and high on the edges - the lower hardness the higher opacity on the edges. It has already happened to me before, but it disappeared itself. I tried reinstalling but it didin't work. I use the latest version of Affinity Photo.
  5. HI All, I recently purchased all three programs and moved to Windows 10 OS. I have a new PC so I'm starting from scratch - installing fonts onto my system. I'm still using Adobe CS6 products while I transition to Affinity, I have a lot of print files (Magazines, Ads, Flyers etc.) which use specific fonts that I have to continue using so in order to move I have to be able to access the font files in Affinity. I have hundreds of fonts Truetype, Open Type and Postscript Type 1. The installed fonts all showed up in my Adobe Suite but not in Affinity? I use FontExpert to manage installs but I have also tried installing directly to Win10 fonts folder. The results are quite random. I get a different (Limited) selection of installed fonts each time I open a program - and never the full range of typeface options (Light, medium, regular, bold etc) Is there a setting I am missing to activate the installed fonts? Any solutions welcome? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi everyone, I've several documents which share a set of "brand" colours for text and shapes. I now need to change the colours across all the documents. I'm expecting that this may not be the only time I'm asked to do this so I'd like to rejig everything so that it can be done efficiently on the second and subsequent request. The history: for the first document I created a "base" document with a document palette and used (standard?) colours defined in it. No Global or Spot colours (yes, I know - silly me). I then copied this document as the basis for the others and built the contents for each one. Then came the client change requests. So I'm now in the position where I have several text frames and artistic text strings, for example, spread across several documents that are the wrong colour and need to be changed across all of them. From my understanding I think I need a Global Colour in an Application Palette. However, this seems to be impossible to create. I can create Standard Colours in an Application Palette but this isn't bound to the objects that use the colour, instead it appears that the colour is copied from the palette when first assigned and after that the object's colour is independent. Is my understanding correct? I feel that I've unwittingly painted myself into a corner with this one and that there is going to be a truck load of work applying these change requests. If anyone has any suggestions of how to ease the pain then I'd appreciate hearing them. (As an aside, is there any fully comprehensive documentation that explains how the palette system works in AD, apart from the online help?) I'm using the latest release of Affinity Designer on Windows10.
  7. Affinity Photo appears not to be releasing memory when an image file is closed, as shown in the attached video. The video opens with Affinity Photo having just been opened, with the memory used by AP shown in Task manager as 199.7MB. A 10,000 x 10, 000 px TIFF image is then opened which takes AP's memory use to 1,383,7MB. That file is then closed. I would have expected the memory used by AP to drop back to around the 200MB area, but it doesn't. It remains at 1,344.9MB My query is whether it should be doing this, and if not, whether it is only occurring on my system? Intel i7-2600 CPU @3.40GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX1050ti 4GB graphics Windows 10 (1909 build 18363.720) Affinity Photo 1.8.0.585 Affinity_Memory_Query.mp4
  8. As already described/discussed in the support questions, colours are displayed incorrectly when a monitor profile is active in the system. The problem can only be reproduced with Affinity Photo and does not show up in Adobe Lightroom, Chrome, FastRawViewer or Irfanview.
  9. Hi everybody, and thanks in advance. I've tried many ways (check forum, reinstall, reinstall in different folder, check issues with other software/drivers... new appdata folder..) but AD/AF/AP (only 1.10-->) still crashes suddenly after splash screen. The only way to work whit it is use previous versions. I don't know what to do anymore 🙄 Win 10 in good health, updated. Thx 😊 786c572b-edd9-48a4-b647-08925153bd2c.dmp 1de91a38-e711-4359-a8fc-8270fcc1b8dd.dmp
  10. After installing version 1.9.2 of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, I began experiencing UI display issues when interacting with UI controls. Attached are two images showing some of the issues encountered with Affinity Designer 1.9.2 on Windows 10. The display issues only occurs when interacting with UI elements containing text labels, such as menus, select lists, etc. The issues first presents when the UI element gains focus. Once focus moves to another UI element, sometimes the display is restored, other times it remains in a corrupt state (see second Document Setup Dialog image). The issue only occurs with Affinity Photo and Designer. I have not tried Affinity Publisher. The issue has not occurred in other Windows applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, JetBrains PhpStorm, Windows 10, or Adobe Acrobat. My OS is 64-bit Windows 10 Professional version 20H2 (OS build: 19042.1165). The issue does not occur with Affinity Designer 1.9.3 or Affinity Photo 1.9.3 on Mac OSX. I uninstalled version 1.9.2 and reinstalled the prior Windows versions and the problem now presents with the older versions as well. I thought it may be a Windows UI font is missing or corrupt, but I have not been able to identify which font(s) they may be. If I knew which fonts were used for the Affinity applications, I could check/test those fonts and reinstall them if missing/corrupt. Any other recommendations on resolving the issue would be appreciated!
  11. Can anyone help. I have used the Windows version of all the Affinity products for a number of years. I am moving to the Mac system but have a problem with using existing PC created files. All images are pixelated when opened on the Mac but still look okay on the PC. I use OneDrive with the Affinity Projects stored on each system which are synced , so its not a cloud problem. My pre Mac process was that I designed my work using two different PC's using the same OneDrive synch process and did not have a problem with files or images even though OneDrive had different paths. What am I doing wrong on my new Mac. Can anyone help me.
  12. Hi, I have a PC with these specs: Core i9 CPU + 32 GB RAM + RX580 8 GB GPU + Dell 4K Display. Latest version of Affinity Designer. Every driver is up to date. I'm getting huge performance issues whenever I enable isometric grid layout. Just dragging around a single rectangle is super lagging. It's a fresh install of Affinity and just a blank Desktop artboard. I tried to record my screen but couldn't find anything that can record properly 60 fps. (open for suggestions how to record my screen. tried build in game bar but it's terrible.) Any suggestions? Thanks.
  13. Wouldn't it make sense to import from a template? I am partially wrong here. The import works with .aftemplate, but the file extension is not shown in the file filter.
  14. I am unable to see image thumbnails specifically for .afphoto files within windows 10 file explorer. I have already unchecked "always show icons, never thumbnails" and I have deleted my thumbnail cache as per these instructions: https://www.wikihow.com/Enable-Image-Preview-to-Display-Pictures-in-a-Folder-(Windows-10)# This issue seems to only occur for affinity files (I really only work with photo). Is this a known issue, unfixable, or something specific to my computer I could potentially fix???
  15. Attached is a problem afpub file with a single image in a picture frame that was modified in the Photo Persona (I have a licensed copy of Photo, but currently on a 90-day trial of Publisher). The page looks fine in Publisher, but when exported as a PDF, these mysterious squares show up over the image. Repeatedly exporting to PDF using the same preset each time results in different placement of the squares. This problem does not occur when exporting to, say, PNG. Current workaround is to rasterize the image before export, but I would prefer to keep the various adjustment/filter layers intact. Windows 10 (20H2) 64-bit, Ryzen 3900X, 32GB RAM, nVidia GTX 1660 Ti Correct preview from within Publisher: Exported PDF: test_page_1.afpub test_page_1.pdf
Video_1567438540.wmv
  17. Stupid question perhaps (in any case?)? Generally I guess / know that hardware acceleration is making calculations faster, which is a good thing. So based on the AP benchmark test I get the value N/A for anything with (Single GPU) when Hardware Acceleration is off in Preferences >> Performance. Sounds logically ... Does this literally mean, that GPU is not used in any calculation? I am just wondering, that the Windows Task Manager shows activity in the GPU column, although hardware acceleration is off. Any (easy) explanation for me?
  18. Why do .afpub files sometimes show with the Publisher red and orange icon, and sometimes with the Designer blue icon. When it does occur, the icons seem to change back to the correct ones after a reboot. I haven't yet found a recipe that consistently produces this yet, but wondered if anyone else is experiencing it.
  19. I recently downloaded a laser engraving software, and to test it, I needed an SVG. I pulled up the export menu as I have done many times before, but when I switched to the SVG export page, my desktop fans started kicking into overdrive. Keep in mind that I have 32 GB of normal ram and 10 GB of VRAM. I opened up the task manager and found Affinity to be using 100% of my CPU for a very simple design. I included the image below because I did press the "modify" button in the Windows App browser, but it didn't appear to do anything. Has anyone else been dealing with this?
  20. I use quick access to recent files (right click) through pinned applications on the windows taskbar a lot. Would it be possible to use different icons for .afdesign, .afphoto, .afpub files? Much like template files in Microsoft Office have different icons from regular documents. This would increase readability significantly. Thanks!
  21. I am a registered user of Affinity Photo and Designer. I now have a second personal computer, a laptop, and I would like to install Photo on it, as a Windows App rather than execution of the usual .exe downloaded file. That's important to me because my laptop has a very small SSD where the OS is, but will install Apps on a much larger DATA HD. (On my desktop Windows doesn't see Photo or Designer as Windows Apps, but rather as installed programs. I'd like to change that situation too, but that's a later topic.) So.... Should I pay for the Windows App, then request a refund? Or is there somewhere else I can get the App install file, then later use my registration code to activate it? Thank you, Ray PS. Should have mentioned that Windows allows Apps to be installed on the DATA (D:) HD whereas Affinity Photo wants to be installed in on the OS (C:) in Program Files.
  22. I bought Affinity Designer for Windows 10 recently, and was wondering if I can use the product key to also use it on my mac. Can I?
  23. For some reason Affinity has stopped allowing me to enter the copyright symbol using Alt 0169 on the number pad. It was because Numlock was turned off.
  24. I want to use Designer to design a layout for my garden. The garden is about 8 meters wide by 15 meters long. Is there any problems with creating a document so big? I am not planning on exporting it to a raster image - and can leave the default resolution at 72ppi. Would it be better to set my document to 8 x 15 cm and just divide all my measurements by 100? So that 1m becomes 1cm in the document? I just don't want to get so far in and find that performance becomes sluggish.
  25. Hi there, I tried up update Affinity Photo from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1 last night, but I had an error show up during the installing stage which then led to the following message appearing: "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\d3dcompiler_47.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory." Has anybody encountered this issue? If so, does anybody know how to resolve it? Thanks in advance. P.S. I also had the same problem with trying to update Affinity Designer from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1. The Affinity folder has also seemingly disappeared from my C:\ Drive.
