  1. Hello! I had this problem at least twice now, and want to report it. When using the brush repeatedly, while having pen pressure on, affinity designer freezes and crashes, after a few quick brush strokes. I tried it without the pen pressure and it works fine without it, i think. Only setting I have changes i that I disabled Windows Ink inside of Affinity Designer and on my tablet. I don't have any issues with pen pressure on Affinity Photo, so I personally think the vector brush tool in Affinity Designer with pressure sensitivity ON is just bugged. Hope you can reproduce this problem and fix it. Thanks for your time and patience! Extra Specs, just for good measure: GPU: RX Vega 56 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Graphics Tablet: Huion Inspiroy 950P. RAM: 16 GB of something. affinitybrushbug.mp4

  3. Am I doing something wrong? All the ink brushes seem to be starting and ending partway through my stroke. This seems to change if I adjust the line width and sometimes ends up really crazy. How do I fix this so the stroke is recognized for the entire curve?
  4. Hello everyone, I have been using Designer V1 for a long time and switched to V2 as soon as it was released. For a current project, in which I want to populate a tree graphic with individual leaves, I would like to do this conveniently using vector brushes. So I created a tree-leaf as a monochrome vector, exported it as a png and created a brush from it. Now I want the leaf to rotate randomly and change its size when using the brush. However, the necessary options are missing when creating the vector brush. In the Pixel Persona I can make all the desired settings, via size and rotation jitter as well as x- and y-scatter, but of course I only get pixel graphics. Am I missing something? Is it possible to create such randomly changing vector brushes? In Adobe Illustrator, for example, this seems to be possible. Thank you very much, Dan Designer Persona: Pixel-Persona:
  5. Been an Illustrator user for 25+ years and began using Designer recently. I was hoping that we would get vector brushes in V2, the real kind like in AI. With that said I will have to try and create brushes with PNG files. Since these are resolution dependent (bitmapped) what is the work around to keep these PNG files, that are masked within a vector drawing, from looking so pixelated if I have to resize elements within the poster? Is there a "best practices" resolution for the PNG file when creating to keep the PNG file as crisp as possible? This would be for print output at sizes up to A0/A1. Have been looking for a definitive answer on the forum but could not find. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Project Brush Set 04 Ammonite Used to create Ammonite Hotel Updated the brush set to version 2...I can draw some more Ammonites now! Changes/improvements as below Version 2.0 1. Removed old versions redundant now.. 2. Made significant changes to the brush dynamics and nozzles. All nozzles are now vector based replacing previous raster versions (as much as possible) 3. There is a significant number of new nozzles for the brushes Which means they are not like original sets.. 4. Made use of the 1.7/1.8.2 brush engine in AD/AP using subBrushes. 5. The old brush set was appearing darker and less intense with 1.7/1.8 update...I have fixed that with this version! 6. Updated the Sample sheets to newer (latest) layout..Sub brushes are displayed in red. Updated for Affinity 2 but retained version 1 brush set Affinity 01Affinity 01: Original Brush set (Sample sheet removed)Affinity 02Affinity 02: Updated version 2 set with adjustment to dynamics to include Distance and Interpolate (Sample sheet as below). 7. In the Vector brush, I can delete segments of the stroke by holding Ctrl, however, if I select a bunch of nodes, I can't delete them using the delete key. 2022-10-02 11-37-53.mp4 Steps to reproduce 1. Go to the brush tool and create a random doodle. 2. Hold the Ctrl key and click drag to select multiple nodes. 3. Hit the delete key and notice that nothing happens. This is on Windows 10, Affinity Designer 10.5.1342
  8. With the brush tool, you can't currently use angle constraint lines while holding shift. Please add this (like in Photo's pixel brush) although click dragging + holding down shift should constrain to straight lines at 15 degree angles.
  9. Hi, I am using Affinity Designer on iPad Pro 12.9 inch (2018.10) + Apple Pencil 2, both iOS and the app are up to date, for some reason the vector brush tool won't work with pressure sensitivity. It's always fixed width no matter which brush I selected, and when I tried to adjust the pressure by dragging the pressure handles, it always came back to default settings. Could anyone help me with this issue? Thanks! O.
  10. I've just been experimenting with creating a vector brush style using images from PPX9. The result is interesting, and I thought I'd share it with other Serif users. It includes Hessian Stitching and Eyelets. Textiles.afbrushes

  13. Hello, I am new to Affinity (switched from Adobe). Currently I am having issues with vector brush tool in Designer. Is there an option to somehow get rid of this weird looking lines (dots)? This does not happen when i try longer lines a draw them quicker, but when i want to be more precise it is quite annoying. I am using wacom tablet (CTL-671) with up to date driver and working on windows 10. I tried different tablet settings and still not happy with the result. Not sure if this is a bug or just an imperfection of software. If its the software problem, I think some "auto-smooth" of this pressure curve could work nice. I can't fix every single brush stroke manually. I hope you get my problem and thanks for replying.
  14. I am using a wacom tablet to draw in Affinity Designer and any time I use the VECTOR BRUSH TOOL and select a Brush Texture (like pencil or acrylic), the Vector Brush Tool is forever stuck on Textures. I cannot get it to return to the default Vector lines without closing the program and re-opening it and it's becoming rather irritating. Can we get this fixed down the line?
  15. Hi. Please, is it possible to use and make your own vector brushes. What i need is to take a simple vector object and stretch it across a curve. Is it possible in the Designer? Since I couldn't find a solution, I'm affraid it's not possible. Thank you.
  16. Hi In the project on a light yellow background, I used a vector brush in gray 70%. It was a global color with an overprint option! After exporting to PDF, the overprint works except where it was made with a vector brush I understand that such brushstrokes will be pixels, but the overprint option could remain. There is also no other place in the program (e.g. in the appearance palette) where an object can be overprinted!
  17. Can Affinity Designer create an Art Brush, as in Illustrator? Create a vector object and make it an ART brush that can then be applied to a stroke, while remaining a vector, and then Expanded back into the individual vector shapes for further modifications of those shapes. Attached jpeg is the sample I'm working on. The top image was created in Designer, which I copied into Illustrator and made it an Art Brush. I then applied that brush to the curved strokes below. Everything I've read about making brushes in Designer says that you need to make your art a png. This means it is no longer vector and its pieces cannot be modified later. You can see where it would be very time consuming to make those curved versions of the original art by hand. An Art Brush accomplished this in seconds. If Art Brushes are doable in Designer, please include a description or a link to the procedure. I'm really trying to make Designer my go-to vector app, but the more I use it, the more I need to go back to Illustrator to perform simple tasks. Shape Builder, Warp Options and Image Trace are also features I use frequently.
  18. I downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer & tried customizing a brush but didnt work. I tried creating a new brush & customizing it, didnt work too. I tried closing the software and reopen it, didnt work as well. What to do now?!! ps: I tried customizing existed brushed and did !
  19. I have been annoyed by this is the past, and I hoped this would be addressed in the new version: Every time after I have drawn a stroke with the brush or pixel or vector brush tool, a circle indicating the brush size pops up in the middle of the screen. This is extremely annoying and unneccesary. It distrubs the flow of drawing in the app to such a degree that I tend to avoid it altogether. Why can't we get rid of this, as it has no function whatsoever?
  20. While using vector brushes in Affinity Designer, if I change brushes, I change the brush size as well. I understand that every brush may have been set up with an ideal size by its creator. I even understand that saving the last brush size used for every single brush in the palette may get cumbersome memory wise. I just find it a bit obstructive that if I use Vector Brush A at a size of 9pt, I change to Vector Brush B for a second, just out of curiosity or by accident(!), I select Vector Brush A again, and its size has defaulted to 2.3pt, or some other random number that isn’t where I left it. The feature I’m requesting: either leave the brush size where I left it between brush changes, or save the last size used with each brush, or let me set the default size for each brush under the “More” menu at the bottom of the screen. Even if all the brush sizes ran back to their respective defaults when I close the document, I could live with that. I would just like to be able to touch Pencil to screen and go, rather than have to adjust the Vector Brush Size each and every time I make a minor tool change.
  21. When resizing any vector brush with click + Alt Gr the brush disappears. The issue doesn't happen in Pixel Persona nor Affinity Photo.
  22. Hello, quick question. After I draw a line and apply a raster brush style to it, how do I change it back to a vector brush? Is there a way to do that? Thank you!

  24. When using the vector brush and trying to adjust the pressure curve the stroke doesn't respond. I had the same issue earlier when using Affinity Designer on my iPad. Only after reassigning the brush to the stroke through the Brushes panel was I able to edit the pressure curve. Please see the attached video for example. Edit: I forgot to add that the brush was unresponsive to pressure applied while drawing the stroke with a pen tablet. brush-pressure.mov
