Amidst the international controversy - questions in Parliament, frequent mentions on Fox News, and a delightful article in Quilting Weekly - regarding the precise timing of the up-coming release of a certain piece of software, the BBC has announced that they will - some day soon - be airing a special episode of their flagship science documentary series. Expect glossy CGI, mildly sarcastic narration by David Mitchell, and something from either Jim Al-Khalili or Mark Miodownik (probably). Dum... dim, dum, de da da dum,,, P.S. This is just a silly bit of (attempted) humour. I'm happy to wait patiently.

I'm a professional real estate photographer who recently switched from Photoshop. I'm a light processor, but will occasionally replace a sky, ad a fire to a fireplace or put an image onto a tv or movie screen. In Photoshop it involves taking a jpeg of said fill content and dragging it to it's location, sizing it and adding perspective tweaks to fill the space. Could someone describe how to do that in Affinity please? I've attached an example. I'd like to put the football game onto the theater screen. Thank you!

Today I thought I'd have a bash at trying to recreate a still from the opening title sequence of "Wynonna Earp". (No spoilers please, I'm still plodding on through the second series.) It was entirely done in AD. I'm sort of happy with it but there are a few things that don't look quite right to me. A. The logotype isn't perfect but I'm not too bothered about that. B. I can't quite get the background right. I've tried all kinds of gradients and transparencies but I just can't make it look like I want it to. I tried to get a better fade from red to dark red but I keep getting bands where the colour seems to jump. C. The logotype isn't as "liquidy" as I wanted it. It's okay, but I wanted it to be a bit more like "dirty liquid gold". Does anyone have any tips for the background or "liquid" text? (They have to be usable in AD, I don't have APh.)

It's been a while since I posted anything new so, inspired by watching the "Powers" TV series, I decided to try something a bit different (again). The characters were created by manually tracing over some pictures and then modifying the results. I've also added some subtle shading and textures to try and give it a bit of a grungy look. My illustration skills could be described as either (a) having a certain naive charm, or (b) just plain terrible, so I didn't expect much but I think it's a reasonable first attempt that I'm fairly happy with (although a lot of attention would still be needed if I was making it for something real). Does anyone know what this kind of illustration is called? It would be nice if I could search for it and get some tips.

A bit of pointless nostalgia for the weekend. (I haven't quite nailed the "2" logo but it's okay for a bit of throwaway silliness.) For those who are too young to know what the heck this is, this is what you would see on your TV in the UK if the preceding programme ended earlier than expected. No trailers, just a static screen telling you what would be coming up next. It might be up there for five minutes or more!

Hey guys, I made this wallpaper today, as you can see it is AHS themed. I like the outcome even if it is nothing too special, what do you think? I worked with pretty much only live filters, with a great performance! You can see some of my layer mess on the screenshot lol.
