How do I make a custom tool toggle that takes me between two tools back and forth? For example pressing B toggles between the brush, pixel, colour replacement tool, etc. -
For Affinity Photo: There is an option to put a + sign in the center of the Selection Brush Tool. Would it be possible so that this sign is changed to the minus "-" sign whenever you switch the subtract mode? The reason I asked for this the Selection Brush Tool seems to start in the mode it was last used it. I believe that most of the time when you start the Selection Brush Tool you want to be in Add mode. If in fact the Selection Brush Tool is in subtract mode then you have a visual clue so that you know to switch the setting. Thanks -
Hey guys, Is there a way to reflect an object in Affinity Designer? I know I can duplicate an item, flip it and then move it to create the reflection. But is there a way I can do it in a single click? Thanks -
Hello everyone! I'd like to request a feature: Pressing a shortcut to select a tool shouldn't select the standard tool for that key, but rather the tool that has been used last for that key. For example: When using the "Inpainting Brush Tool", after clicking B for the "Paint Brush Tool", clicking J will not select "Inpainting Brush Tool" again, but rather the "Healing Brush Tool". This means, I have to cycle through all the tools to jump back and forth from "Inpainting Brush Tool" and "Paint Brush Tool". I think the behaviour could be optimized when Photo and Designer use the last tool that has been selected when pressing a shortcut. It would allow a faster workflow. Best wishes, Shu

I'd like to see a trim tool (select line(s), will delete line(s)_ up to another line). CorelDRAW has one that works really well. Here is a video showing the feature. thanks and great job so far.

I am new to Affinity. The tutorial showed use of the inpainting brush but I can't find it in the tool bar or above the image area. What am I doing wrong? Thank you to anyone who can help. -
Hello, I'm making a slice of a circle with an icon inside of it, the problem is when I try to export the slice, it only shows the circle layer, it does not show the contents on top of the circle. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to have the contents inside the circle show as being exported with the slice. How do I just have everything inside of the slice export? Thanks -
One of the very few features I miss in Designer is Illlustrators Group Selection Tool, the +Cursor. I have not figured out how to make this work in Designer, other than selecting every singel vector point in the nested object. Have I missed something here? -
I have acquired quite a few really solid photoshop brush tool presets over the years but I haven't found a way to use them either Affinity product. Is there something I am missing or is this not currently supported? Any plans to add compatibility? Thanks! -

Hello together, first of all, thank you very much for your magnificent software, I'm working with the Beta for Windows now some days and it's very fun to do so. Nontheless I have a question regarding the Marquee pixel selection tools (e.g. elliptical marquee and rectangular marquee tool) and their modifier keys. I have consulted the help and found there are only two modifier keys, one which constrains the proportions (Shift) and on modifier key the removes ares from the current selection (Alt) and the possibility to drag with both left and right mouse button down) to add to a selection. I would ask if it is possible to add some more (from my personal experience) very useful modifier keys which would make it way easier to select circular shapes. A modifier key to draw the marquees from the center point rather than from the egde where the click at the begin occurred, for example holding the (Strg) key or another suitable one down Another modifier key I find very useful is, e.g. holding the (spacebar) key down to move the selection on the fly while it is still being drawn holding the mouse key down These are just some things I find really useful that make with selection these tools much easier to work with, I'm quite accustomed to such key modifiers as they are available in Photoshop CC. Hello, I've been using Affinity Designer since the first beta and I'm thrilled. I work with both mouse and graphics tablet. What I noticed is that the mouse, when I use it, the respective tools synonymous with the cursor is displayed. If I use the graphics tablet, however, the cursor, no matter which tool I use, always remains the simple arrow. Now my question: Will Affinity Designer also be adapted to the use of graphics tablets? Hi all: I have found the pencil tool invaluable but there's always one little thing that it would be nice to have: Is it possible that the point at which the line is started could show as a visible coloured node? Whenever I get to what I think is the point where I started, I'm off target! It's not a huge problem but it would make the workflow faster if I didn't have to clean up too many nodes. I attach a poster I made where I used the PT for all those spiral patterns cut into the kerbstone at Newgrange. It could be that I'm just not using it properly and my apologies if that's the case. Help! I have upgraded to the new Beta Version and cannot bring the (right) tools back, like the corrections or layers... Have I changed something in the set-up? These elements (which were there in the former version all right) do not apear irrespective of the files (jpeg, raws) that I load. Have I missed something? I have re-installed the program with no change... Bernard

Hello Affinity, I am a graphic designer from Indonesia. Me and my friend are currently working our way to bring our studio alive and we find these!: Affinity Designer and Photo. For Affinity Designer, I would like to request for 'pen' tool enchantment. I would like to have the 'pen' tool have the 'line trace' to make pen positioning easier. The feature looks like 'bezier' tool in inkscape and 'pen' tool in coreldraw. I always use them in my work. At the moment I am exploring this Designer. I will keep continuing giving feedback for this. I find this program looks promising and may be a 'black horse' in market. i am an inkscape user for almost 4 years but as I said before, this program looks promising, and i love that 'personas'. Creative! PS: Forgive me for bad english.

Hi, On PS I have the Tools toolbar moved to the right of the UI near to layers and other panels for ease of use. Will the function to move the toolbar be included in Windows version? cheers, Paul -
Pen and line tools good but if I may suggest a change. In order to change the still I need to draw a line first then add style or line type...it should be if I select a tool type and be able to select object before I draw for example blur blur effect or bevel. This way I can see the effects right away and not have to stop edit then continue drawing.

Hello, creative people! I'm a science professor (Physics and Math, mostly) and I'm working at some electronic educational materials for my students. When I found about vector graphics and AD, it was a game changer for me. I'm not by any means an artistic person, I don't draw, paint or whatever, but I use AD for science illustrations (inclines, pulleys, circuits, geometric shapes). I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but my feature request is a small detail that I find useful for science illustrations. I would like it to have a special tool for displaying measurements and some other labels. For example, if I draw an incline, to be able to show its measurements or if I have a problem with, say, a football field or a rectangle, to quickly add its measurements. And not only the (measurement) label, but also the specific arrows, like on the sidelines of the picture in the attachment. Also, should I (or any of you) have any more ideas for useful features for scientific illustrations, I'll surely come back. Thank you for your time and the great products! Hi all, I have a question about using the pen tool. I'm a recent adopter of AD and AP. Often, when I'm drawing a shape, I get around to the other side and see that I've lost a portion of the line. In other words, I'm kind of chasing myself around the shape. It's easily remedied but I'm wondering why this should happen. Could it be my set up, for example? (Wacom bamboo working on El Capitan). First let me say, I love Affinity Designer so far and am very excited to have a quick, responsive, reasonably priced vector graphics tool available for Mac & Windows. I am currently using the Windows Public Beta and it is already the central tool in my design toolchain. There is one feature I use all the time in Inkscape and pretty much the only thing I find myself leaving Affinity Designer to accomplish, at least in my all-vector work. The ability to take an arbitrary path or set of paths and arrange them along another path. Below are some visual aids from the inkscape manual showing some of the possible uses of this effect: See the manual entry here. And if you want to try it for yourselves, the menu option in Inkscape is as follows: Extensions -> Generate from Path -> Pattern Along Path I would love to see this functionality inside Affinity Designer, and I think many many creative professionals either already rely on this or don't know about it :ph34r: Thanks again for all your hard work. I am (well, have been) a UI/UX designer and find what you guys have accomplished so far to be spot on. I don't think the way Inkscape presents this dialog is as intuitive as it could be, so if you guys decide to pursue this feature, keep that in mind. I like what you've done so far so I won't bias you with my input, but if y'all want any suggestions for how I would work this into the current Affinity Designer interface, I'd be happy to help.

Now that we have symbols, replicators wouldn't be far off. Attached is how it works in Modo. You take any item (groups are items too), set it as a master object, activate the replicator tool and create live duplicates of that master. Anything that changes with the master changes in the duplicates as you make the changes. The position of the replicas is basically done with null objects/locators that can be automatically positioned with a formula (to form predefined shapes or cling to bezier node points of an item) or can be placed manually. What I'm doing in the video is just moving the centre point of the master object around, this creates an offset-like effect. replicator demo.mov

Hello, My name is Kuba, I'm from Poland, and i work in local Radio. When working on my materials for job, i have to make not only audio recordings, but also some photos for online post at our website. I'm doing best i can, and recently my friend told me to start signing my photos, so everyone can know who's the author. Trust me, it's very important to have signed photos. My mentioned friend got a better job, because he was signing his photos, and somebody found him this way... Lets go back to my topic. When i'm adding some simple text i often have some problems. Some pictures are different size, because of necessary cropping, and pasting puts them in some weird locations. same applies for vertical photos. They are not so common, but sometimes i have to do something in portrait mode, so i have to add watermark by hand, and it's not very precise. When you're scrolling through the online gallery, and all watermarks are in different places and sizes it looks very cheap and unprofessional. I'd love to see some simple tool for watermarking witch would allow me to: - Add preset watermark to picture; ^ In set place(i.e. 10% of picture from bottom and 10% of picture from right. Every picture is different resolution, so pixels might not work for watermarking) - Set global size of my watermark (So that regardless of resolution watermark always looks the same, i.e. 5% of picture overall space) I mean by this, that for example my watermark is set in lower right corner with 10% of picture border from bottom and right. and in picture in 1000x1500 it takes as much overall space in % as in 4000x6000 resolution picture. Sorry for my not perfect english, as i mentioned i'm from Poland... Feel free to comment, add suggestions, your experiences or tips for watermarking in the comments section. If you think this could be a great tool, but have something more specific to add, say it! Maybe someone at Affinity will read this and give us a great tool? Who knows...

Hi, I am new to AD but used PS/AI a lot and I have problem in work efficiency / speed when it comes to select objects. Normally I press "V" and I can be sure that I am in the move tool and start to click-drag a marquee selection. Unfortunately in AD I'm not. Because if the move tool is already active "V" toggles to the last used tool. And if I start my click-drag action to create the marquee selection - something other happens, e.g. I paint or what tool is ever active then. I couldn't find a setting option in the preferences to prevent that behavior. Is there something I overlooked? Thanks. Also thanks, for that great software package.
