Hello. I was looking for photoshop alternatives since Adobe refuses to sell lifetime license stuff until I found this. unfortunately, my camera AKA Canon 200D is not supported. My only available OS is windows so I can't rely on Apple core to take care of my RAW files. So I want to know when will my camera be added to the supported list and if I can use TIFF (8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit float) format instead of RAW until my camera is added. Thanks in advance YAR Oracool

How do I simply see what file type I’m working with? I import a raw image from Lightroom mobile. I want to make sure it’s not importing a jpeg copy but the original raw file. Should be very easy in the metadata but it’s not there.

Hello everybody! Greetings from Athens! I recently received some very large tiff images (product photography) with clipping paths. Subject images created in photoshop. As I am trying to work on them on my affinity photo, I cannot figure out the selections that made with photoshop. I cannot find any similar "path tab" as in photoshop. Affinity photo opens the image plain, no any further info, details, nothing! Do i miss something? if someone can assist me on this, it will be highly appreciated. The scope of editing such images is to change the background color. Thank you

Hi, Can really do with some help here. Just got a Sony A7R3 not too long back. I use Mac Photos for my photo management. From Photos, I tried to edit my .ARW raw files using Affinity. However, when the file's opened in Affinity, it is converted to TIFF. When I export the RAW file out and open it directly with Affinity, it opens as RAW. Not sure if it's a bug, or I have some settings done wrongly. I had no problems with my previous camera, OMD-EM1. Thanks!

I'd appreciate some feedback on the process I'm using to convert image files for print (book). I've recently come over from Photoshop and am sure that Affinity Photo/QuarkXPress2017 are the right combination to produce the result I want, but I need reassurance - or suggestion of a better way ... This is what I do: Open the file (usually a .jpg) in Affinity Photo Change colour format to CMYK (8 bit) Using Resize document, change DPI to 300, uncheck Resample and click resize Then using Resize document again, change units to Millimetres (is there a way to make this the default unit) and then change the width to slightly over the finished size of the image in the book, choosing Resample at this stage. Then save as ... Then Export as TIFF CMYK (making no other changes on that dialogue box) However, I then always seem to have to resize the image (sometimes to less than 10%) once I've imported it into QuarkXPress2017 ... and the image file produced is rather large. Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong? Help would be much appreciated!

I'm kind of new to Affinity Designer, really any graphic design software, and have a question. When I have drawn/created an image in Affinity Designer in the CMYK color and I'm saving it as a TIFF CMYK, what resampling option should I use when I'm going to be printing it? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hello, I have very annoying issue for me to be honest it is biggest problem with affinity. When I do stack or HDR and I will export files to EXR (I use SNS-HDR for compression) Affinity always delete all metadata. Can I preserve metadata from first files? it is commonly used system in all apps that I used till today.

Hello, is ist possible that you intergrate the option for non compressed TIFF files. I would appreciate this. thanks michael

Why can't I just save an image as either TIFF, PSD or even JPG after the Develop Persona. Why this complicated Export Persona? Adobe at least got that right. This is a struggle every time. I'm sorry but I'm giving up on this.

Hello, I bought Affinity right from the very first version in order to replace PS. Unfortunately, the software is using the very basics features, I would requiere to work. I am writing "I", but most of the photographers in the city are missing the same. Please consider this topic not as a negativ critic but constructive feedback . Please, if I missed something just spot me my mistake! Tiff. Usually, I do some adjustment in the RAW convertor (CaptureOne, Lightroom..) and then "edit with..". Then, I get a tiff which get opened in Affinity. Then I can do some find work. and "ctrl-s" to save my work. This does not work. Affinity can not save as tiff, only export as. It means -> Affinity can not be integrated in as editor a raw convertor. And is quiet useless.. Shortcuts. Does not work IMO. you do not know what you get when you press a key. Please, implement working shortcuts "à la" PS. Is there any patent on that ??? Any equivalent of PS "Transform" (Perspective, Distort, ...). I tried with the perspective tool, after 10 minutes I gave up. Done in PS in less than 2 mins.. Most of the function in Affinity are 2-3 slower as in PS CS6. Line selection tool equivalent ??q Level tool: is it possible to switch channel using keyboard ? Is there a clipping functionality like PS (in PS pressing alt). Thanks!

When editing images in in Affinity from Lightroom I'm asked for format and resolution. Tiff is fine but if I open in 240 resolution am I giving up detail? Shouldn't I pick a higher number to preserve quality?

Hi all, When I deal with photos in Capture One I use Affinity to remove dust. Its not exactly like a plugin, but I open Affinity through Capture One, do what I need to do and save. I then get straight back to Capture One with a dustfree photo... however, for some reason the picture is also brighter... does anyone get why this is happening? Shouldnt the picture look the same in both applications? Cheers Peter

Strangely A-Photo for MacOS (versions inc. 1.5.2) change the Byte Order of TIFF files from Macintosh to IBM. Not very cool. Side note, wish export panels and personas would somehow highlight when a property (e.g., 16-bit sampling DOWN to 8-bit or 80% JPEG compression UP to 100%) has been changed in a way that will result in (perhaps unexpected) data loss. Love A-Photo!

File extension consistency please...
rafikiphoto posted a topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
All my other photo software uses TIF as the file extension for Tagged Image File Format image files. I am curious why TIFF was used by Affinity. It makes my file lists look ragged and will probably interfere with sorting lists. Can we have the option to export as TIF not TIFF please? -
When I create a macro of my own, and apply it to a camera raw file that I've opened and developed, it works fine. However, when I try to apply that macro, or any macro for that matter in a batch process, it over exposes the file to an unusable point. Even simply batch processing a raw file to a TIFF or any other kind of file, without a macro, over exposes the photo. It seems as though the photos need to be developed, then batch processed...? Is this true and how can I process my raw files like he does in the videos?

Hi, can we have consistency with extensions? When I batch save I get "fileName.tif" When I export I get "fileName.tiff" I would prefer all tif files to be saved with the extension .tif however, the main point is that they are always saved with the same extension. Thanks.

Hi, Would it be possible to shed some light on this for me. When I load a sequence of files (not Batch Processing) ....e.g. SR_3122, SR_3123, SR_3124, SR_3125, SR_3126 into the interface to Develop, having 5 files open, the files are not displayed in order. Instead of being in numerical order from left to right across the interface, it seems to be random, first file on the left would be say SR_3123, then SR_3126, SR_3124, then SR_3122 and SR_3125. Many Thanks Simon R

Hi, I would like to know deeper about Export possibilities of TIFF format. In the Export settings I do not see the possibility to choose between ZIP, LZW, RLE or other compression possibilities. When I am exporting to TIFF it makes some file that seems smaller then compressionless file however I do not see what happened to it. I do not even know whether the file was exported losslesly or there was an information loss :( Thanks Jindra

I am using Affinity Photo 1.4.3 on a late 2015 iMac running Mac OS 10.12. I have written a program that exports pretty simply tiff files. Every app I have tried reads the files my app writes, except Affinity Photo. I have tried Preview, Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, Pixelmator, Viveza 2, Safari (I did not know it worked as an image viewer, but it does)). I think maybe Photo is trying to interpret the tiff file as a RAW file. I have attached two screen grabs. One shows the upper left corner of the Photo window with one of the files my app wrote. The other shows the upper left corner of Photo with one of the input files to my app (which was written by lightroom). My app averages stacked images to reduce noise, so I expect the two images to be pretty much the same except for noise. Any suggestions or ideas on what might be going on here?

Hey guys, This is my first post here, so firstly I would like to express my gratitude towards the hard work you've put in this great software, it's quite a relief to be able to move away from the giants. I would use AP for postproduction work for renderings, and up to this point I saved out my renders as layered TIFFs (I cannot change that, since my main working software would not eat any other layered file types, nor .psd, nor .afphoto). In 1.4.3 I wasn't able to open my previous TIFFs, because they were flattened (although PS saw the layers perfectly). In 1.5 beta 5 I finally can see the layers, but every pciture looks like this: This is the PS version: Is there a way to fix this, or is this a known issue, that awaits fixing? Regards, Balazs

The export options for TIFF files always remember the last setting, rather than defaulting to the document color mode. I.e. if the last export was CMYK, the default the next time will be CMYK, even if the document is RGB, and the other way round. This is dangerous since it makes it easy to perform unintended color space conversions on export. Especially beginners who may not know about RGB and CMYK or just trust the default export settings might be in for a nasty surprise. Ideally, the export settings would check if the color format in the export settings is set to the same thing as the same as the document color format and in that case offer the document color format of the next document the next time. If the user changes the setting to something else than the document color format, it would offer that specific setting the next time, regardless of document format. That way it won't get in the way of, say, someone trying to manually export 10 RGB documents as CMYK, but it also wouldn't catch someone exporting an RGB file to RGB TIFF by surprise if their last export was a CMYK document to CMYK TIFF.

At the beginning I just want to say that it seems that everyone want to have photoshop but under the name Affinity Photo :) So... In Photoshop we can choose if we want TIFF with lossy jpeg compression or lossless ZIP or LZW. In Affinity Photo dialogue window there is no such thing. There resampler that suggest that AP compression algorithm is lossy. Can you tell me if it is lossy or lossless? Does it matter which resampler option I choose? What are the differences between them? p.s. Sorry for my English
