  1. Hi, I have just started using Affinity Beta so please bear with me. It seems to be working fine with standard large scans 24 Bit TIFF ( VueScan) but crashes immediately on trying to open 48 Bit Files (similarly VueScan). Are 48 bit files supported, or are they planned to be supported. I am scanning some old family photographs and would like to archive scan them ideally, and then post process. Having a program that could do this would be really good, I am sure there are a lot of family historians out there who would agree. Thanks in Advance
  2. Exporting a Tif file adds the file type .tiff not .tif I know both are acceptable but .tif is done by everyone else so AFFINITY should conform. cheers Ian
  3. Bonjour, Comment peut-on créer une vectorisation d'un format tiff. Automatiquement bien sûr. Merci
  4. I have installed Topaz and Akvis plugins via the Affinity preferences screen. I know they'll only work at the moment in 8 bit but the individual plugins are greyed out if I try to use them on a tiff file. They're ok with jpegs but all my raw conversions are saved as tiffs. Also portrait images from my I-Pad open in the plugins as landscape; i.e. they are rotated by 90 degrees. All of the above work perfectly in Photoplus X8
  5. Hello Affinity Team :) , it seems that Affinity Photo is not able to load up the Alpha channel from TGA files. example file is available here; https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxhg8ewuo5vbvyx/alpha_channel32bit.tga?dl=0 greetings myclay
  6. My TIFF files made with Affinity Photo are not displayed in Apple programs including Photos, Finder and Preview. This seems to happen to files made after a certain date some time this year. The Apple tech I talked to said there seemed to be a fix by Affinity Photo. I cannot find it. How do I get this issue fixed? Thanks.
  7. Any file made in designer or photo has an issue when I export to tiff. There is a few mentions of it out there but no mention of a fix. A file that should be in the 100"s of mb comes out at under 10 mb and sets up a spinning wheel in the finder and my printer can not open the file.
  8. Can I save an image as a JPG or a TIFF. If not, can it be converted to a JPG or TIFF and how?
  9. Hi, Is this possible to export TIFF images with transparency in RGB and CMYK from Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer? I can't do that from Affinity Designer so I just got the rial version of Affinity Photo to test the TIFF transparency export but it seems TIFF transparency is not supported for Tiffs. (?) Either in RGB or CMYK no matter what matte color you pick the TIFF image is exported with a solid background color. I have also tried Placing a PSD transparent file into a transparent background document in both Designer and Photo exporting it to Tiff ... same solid background. In the forums I found a few posts related to A-Designer Tiff export issues. but nothing about Affinity PHOTO. Resulting files should go to press and the CTP people want TIFF images in CMYK. Thank you for any hint, jp
  10. Since this subject comes up often I am writing a definitive statement. Fireworks (layered) PNG files There is no such thing as "layered PNG". The PNG standard does not define a way to store layers, and only deals with flattened images. Fireworks saves out additional layer data to PNG files in a proprietary format using a private tag. A definition for this proprietary data has never been made public. A PNG saved by Fireworks can still be used as a flattened image by any application that can handle PNG files. These applications will handle the standard data and ignore the proprietary Fireworks data. Affinity handles standard PNG files. But, it cannot import or export the layer data using the Fireworks method. There is no expectation that we will ever be able to handle Fireworks layer data in PNG files. We acknowledge that being able to support Fireworks PNG files would be of great benefit to users of Affinity. If a public definition of the data format becomes available, we will be able to address the issue. Layered TIFF files There is no such thing as "layered TIFF". The TIFF standard only handles flattened images as part of the publicly described tags. TIFF does allow for companies to register additional tags for their own use. Adobe registered two private TIFF tags that enable them to embed layer data in a TIFF. These tags are an extension and are not part of the central TIFF standard. These tags are used to embed PSD layer data into a TIFF, in addition to the standard flattened image. Since Affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import the layer data from a TIFF if it has these tags. However, since this is handled by our PSD importer it is subject to the same limitations as importing a standard PSD into Affinity. We make clear that while we aim to provide the best third party support for PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop handles and displays a PSD file. Photoshop has its own approach to applying alpha/transparency, vector masks and vector strokes, layer effects and gradients. This means that while we can offer importing of editable elements of a PSD file, the result will not be a one-to-one pixel reproduction of what you see in Photoshop. We have registered our own TIFF tags for embedding Affinity layer data in a TIFF, in similar fashion to PSD layer data. This is intended for use with DAMs that use TIFF as their interchange format. When saving a TIFF file, if your document has multiple layers you will be given the option of including Affinity layer data. This will preserve the editable elements of a multi-layer document. This obviously comes at a cost of increased file size. Our TIFF tags will use our proprietary data format and as such can only be used by Affinity applications. At this time we have no plans to save TIFF files with the PSD format layer data. PSD layer data held in a TIFF file will be imported and converted to the Affinity format.
  11. So I tried resizing. I have a photo scanned from a slide at 4000 dpi. I go to resize document. It says 16x20cm print size at 300dpi. I accept. Then I export to TIFF. The TIFF is still 4000 dpi. What is going on? Best regards Geir Rosset Oslo Norway
  12. How can I create and export files from a scan or some line art logo, to create files I can easily color in InDesign by choosing their bitmap content in the color list?
  13. When I import a 8bit Tiff image, into AP, it might be an excess of 200mb however after retouching it, exporting it back out as an 8bit tiff image , its reduced to 21-26mb. That is a significant file reduction, something has to give, why the reduction, what's being constrained? They are both the same file! Is AP compressing it?
  14. It would be great to able able to specify compression (LZW and ZIP) for TIFF files. hanks for all you do.
  15. I cannot open the exported tiff from affinity in another application because it sonly affinity writable. I do need to be able to edit a result in another app.
  16. would like to see export as tiff with an extension of "tif". Some programs don't like tiff.
  17. Hi there, I was wondering... is it possible to edit / create multi page image files (in particular, I'm keen to edit multi-page tiff files) for use as retina / non-retina icon files on a Mac? I've also not figured out why my tiffs are losing transparency on export, but I guess that should be a different thread? Thanks, Rog
  18. I have created a paperback book cover in Affinity Photo, and now I want to export it as PDF to send it to the printer. I cannot figure out how to export a PDF that looks anything like what I see in Affinity Photo. (Nor can I export anything that looks right in any other format, for that matter.) Here is a screenshot of what the cover looks like in the Export Persona: Here is what the PDF (for print) preset produces (I made no adjustments to the preset): donation-cover-paperback.pdf This export appears to include the one pixel layer from the document, with at least some of the adjustments applied to turn the bills from dollar-bill color to blue. I cannot explain the grainy waviness. I have some fill layers, which either do not appear in the PDF or appear as white. My document has a layer mask that fades the edges of the pixel layer into the background fill layer, but it does not appear to fade here. The text (in layers above the fills and pixel layers) does not appear at all. The original image is dollar-bill colored dollar bills, with a certain amount of focus blur, but otherwise no fuzziness. Here is what the TIFF RGB 8-bit preset produces (I made no adjustments to the preset): donation-cover-paperback.tiff This appears to be the adjusted image, but without the text, and without the layer mask that fades the edges of the image. Again the text is completely missing. JPEG export looks similar to TIFF. I get these results from the "page" predefined slice in the Export Persona, and from the File -> Export command. The only thing I've been able to do that seemed to work is to merge the document into a single layer, then export that as PDF. I'm not sure I want to rasterize the text (I have never sent the printer rasterized text before, and am unsure whether the results will be what I want). Any clues about where I'm going wrong?
  19. Hi all, I've exported a .tiff file with a CYMK profile with Affinity Photo, in order to import it to my InDesign layout. But, the importation fails and freeze InDesign... :( Anyone on that ? Thanks
  20. Does Affinity use a copy of the RAW file for editing and is it non destructive?
  21. when will fuji xtrans support be available please. Also I am converting my RAF xtrans files into tiffs without any processing being done to them. I then move that file to affinity but that is only a 60 oercent solution. Fuji recently added "classic chrome" to their film simulations and in your color process window there is a selection that virtually duplicates that. That's a good thing.
