  1. I cannot click on text and found somethings weird about it (see my png file). It happen only 1.5 Beta 14 version, please try my file to see the bug. test_text.psd
  2. Hello - I need some help I attached some photo's to better explain the problem I am having. I am printing a Art Board with my finished work - it looks just fine on screen - but when I print it, the finished result is very different. One problem is text is much larger then what is seen on Art Board. The Text has a Bevel/Emboss Effect, but when printed it's all strange and cut off. Under the text is a shadow which was done by copy/paste/flip and then converted into curves to align, grouped and then given a Linear Gradient Fill. The image of the car was given the same Bevel/Emboss Effect and the shadow is the same as the Text. I've never had a problem when I print - this is the first time since the latest update. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. I want to make text that looks like I have written it with gold paint. Can anyone help me out here as I'm new to using affinity?
  4. I thought there was an Affinity Designer forum but Im not seeing it now so I hope this is in the right place. I've drawn a circle in AD and am typing text on it. Problem is, the text is upside down. How do I flip it over so it's above the line? Thanks
  5. I know, this feature has been requested several times, but I have to bring this up again, since it is still not included in AD 1.5. Please let me center a text vertically in a text frame. This is so important to get a text perfectly in the center of an object, ect. The only way I can do it, is by either do it manually with my eyes, or convert to curves and then center it. Which is destructive. I love all those new constraint features in 1.5, but having a simple button which would center the text vertically would be so useful for any graphics designer, especially UX-designers. Please consider this soon, I don't want to wait until it is implemented to Affinity Publisher and then added to Designer eventually. This is a feature that I am waiting since AD 1.0. Every graphic or image editor has that feature. Thanks.
  6. Hello forum. First of all, Affinity Designer is wonderful software - have been using it for a couple of days now, and it is amazing. But now I have run into a problem. When I write some normal text, everything is fine [1]. But if I create a round object, convert to text path and apply my text again, the space between the letter is not correct [2]. As you can see, the space between the 'W' and the 'E' in the beginning is "big" compared with the space between 'EIP' [2]. But everything looks fine in the ordinary text line [1]. So how do I change this, so the rotating text has equal space between its letters? - I'm using the font "Lustria" - Windows Beta
  7. Hi Folks, Just after a little help again if possible. I have created a line of text in a logo I am putting together for a client. I need to adjust a couple of letters and by that I mean I need to adjust certain parts of the letters shapes. Is there a way to convert the character to a shape and manipulate that way from within Affinity Designer? I know there are other programmes that can do this such as Pixelmator etc but I can seem to see a way in AD. Any suggestions? Thanks again Mark
  8. I know it maybe hard to do because the PSD files from PS have different structures from Affinity, but It's going to be perfect if it can do correctly. Please try my file.. It only happens to text. I set text stoke effect in PS at 1px, but the imported result is 5.3px. However I am really happy with the RC1 version. Various bugs have been fixed and almost everything run correctly. Cheers. test_PSDtext.psd
  9. Hi, how would you do a dynamic text - without manually resizing every letter? and with correct space dynamics? My example (attached) was done manually and doesnt look very realistic :( I tried: a) create a text shape, fill in the text ABCDE but the text in trapezoid shape cannot be rotated in the direction I want b) write an artistic text ABCDE resize every letter, shift the baseline of every letter Thanks!
  10. I was wondering if Affinity Designer had an option where you can save your svg file with a text element in a way that the text element is saved as a path tag. This would be helpfull for when someone doesn't have the used font.
  11. I have two or three problems with the "Text Styles". Even if the lanuage is configured to "english us" the text styles (Name and in the small textbox) are using the OS language. (Screenshot) If I add some text and click on one of the predefined text styles and then click on "no style", I would expect that the previous selected stlye gets removed but it does nothing? Clicking on different text styles in a row and in between selecting "not style" is moving the highlighted bar in a strage way It would be good to have a small button for "Set no Paragraph Style" and "Set no character style"
  12. I had this broken Text Styles Window: Then I switched in settings to english and reopened the program, after that it was OK: I switched back the language again but the problem is gone now. UPDATE: I can reproduce it. Start AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) If Text-Styles are already visible --> Menu -- View --> Studio --> disable Text Styles Restart AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) Add some Artistic Text, and keep it selected Menu -- View --> Studio --> enable Text Styles
  13. Hello Affinity Team, I've been waiting for this feature forever but I still don't see it in Affinity Designer Beta 1.5. So here it is. Would it be possible to add Vertical Alignment for Text inside Textboxes? Like this: - Top - Middle - Bottom That would be great. :) Thank you very much, Philippe Côté
  14. Greetings I need to do something like in the uploaded image and couldn't find any easy way to do it. Is there any way?
  15. I've been preparing several packaging files for vendors and continually run into a major roadblock when I want to outline live type. In Illustrator you can simply Select All and Outline Text. Done in 2 seconds and the file retains its structure. Is there currently anyway to accomplish this in AD? I'm aware of the (Layer >) Convert to Curves command. The trouble is that this command doesn't seem to penetrate groups. Which forces me to either: 1. Select/search though every group in the Layers panel for any and all text elements and manually convert them, which is both very time-consuming and prone to errors. or 2. Select All, Ungroup (x times) and then convert everything. This technically works, but it then creates an unmanageable file with hundreds of curve layers and also releases all clipping masks. :( Am I missing an awesome command or tool somewhere? Anyone know of an easier way? Thanks! :D
  16. What is the keyboard shortcut to escape using the artistic text tool? I've tried cmd+enter, which works on other applications, but this seems to convert the text to paths. I've also tried repeated hitting the escape which some forums seem to mention, or hitting cmd+d to deselect, but neither of these allow me to escape. My use case is after I type the text I want to move it in its entirety, but to do that I literally have to drag the mouse all the way to the selection tool, then drag all the way back to re-select the text and then be able to move it. it would be much easier to be able to escape, type v for the selection, and move. Thanks to anyone who can help!
  17. I had no problems with the last update and now with this new one, no matter what I do, I can't get text on anything I'm working on. :( Stacy
  18. I'm not sure that it's a bug but I cannot create text over this background (from my attached file), please tell me the right method to do with the new beta. Thanks. bug_text.afdesign
  19. Hi all - This may appear as a complete 'nob head' question but I am hiding behind the excuse of being new to Affinity... Question: How to center text both center and middle in a shape? I have a number of squares, each generated with the corresponding shape tool, and want to put a block of text in each, each possibly of a different lenght. Irrespective their character number, each text block should become positioned exactly in their square's center. I've run past the text tutorials - each of which are excellent - but couldn't find the answer I am looking for. Could anyone help me out here?
  20. I'm baaaa-aaack... :) I'm getting stuff together for a June 1 debut date for my webcomic: Afterwards. I knew I wanted a true logo, not just some spiffed-up word in a display font. So I hand-drew the logo in Manga Studio, using some lettering/calligraphic brushes I picked up along the way and then imported it into Affinity Designer for that vector touching (which is surprisingly legal in most US states.) . Anyway... I had set up some goals for this logo: It had to look hand drawn. I wanted that hand-crafted look to reflect the conditions of the story (more on that later...). It had to be legible at small sizes and the counters ("holes" in the letters -- a, o, e, etc) had to be large enough not to bleed when printed or reduced. Clean design and strong movement. Meaning not many (if any at all) fiddly bits. Be simple enough to be printed in black, white, or spot color without any gradients or such, but still be able to deal with them if needed. (I believe that if a logo depends on being a specific color, it fails at being a good logo.) I think I did okay on those three conditions. One thing that I noticed is that from left to right, the design is a bit cramped and chaotic and gets more "orderly" as we go rightward. Which is a pretty good summary of the history of the world in this story. The story is a post-apocalyptic one, without Zombies, etc. In fact nobody, at the start of the story, knows exactly what really happened to end the world some 200 years earlier. And, yes, that's a plot point. ;) So attached is the logo, let me know what y'all think of it. Good, Bad, indifferent. First one to type "TL:DR" will be among the initial group of people against the wall when the revolution comes. Oh, forgot to mention, the grey block in the upper right is the original Manga Studio sketch I based this AD design on.
  21. Is it possible to convert Artistic text to Frame text? I've a lot of Artistic text in a file, but I want to use them as Frame Texts. How to do this??
  22. version 1.5.0.9 Can not find text or paragraph styles panels. Unable to create text or paragraph styles.
  23. I have an HP Spectre x360 4K Touch Screen Windows 10 Machine. The commands for rotating the orientation of various windows match the commands to tighten more and loosen more text (ctrl + alt + left/right), so the Windows command takes precedent. I can disable the windows commands, but it might be worth modifying the keyboard shortcut. Thanks! I'm loving Affinity Designer.
  24. Hi I am using the affinity designer windows beta latest version in widows 10. And i always have the problem with typing chinese character.
