  1. Hi there, I'm completely new to AD and I'm trying to distress some graphics. In photoshop I would have maybe created a layer mask but can't seem to find an equivalent. Is this the wrong way to go about it? Suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. Geoff
  2. I am running the beta of Affinity Designer, but I cannot find a way to use the typographic features of some fonts, especially a way to enter old style numbers. Normally I can use this features with the standard OSX "CMD-T" window (I use a Dutch localized version of OSX, and I do not know how this is called in English), but Affinity Designer uses a non standard window. For a graphic designer extended attributes of fonts are a must, so I would be disappointed if these could not be used.
  3. Trying out Affinity Designer I quickly found a bug when applying the Opentype Small Caps attribute to text. As you can see in the middle line of the pdf-file attached, in no font I tried “ein” and “ext” (of “Texttext”) is correctly formatted, neither in most fonts the “t” of “ist” – only Satero and Espuma make a difference here. There seems to be a difference, too, depending whether you use Art Text or Frame Text, as you can see in the top line: Set as Art Text, “esttext” is in lower case – in Frame Text it is again “t”, “ein” and “ext”. As I have the font Granjon in both OpenType- and PostScript-Format I sampled the latter as well. Keep up the good work!
  4. Hi Affinity. I typically use Illustrator for annotating scientific figures made in Matlab (e.g.). When I import .ps and .eps files into AD, the text is not imported as text, but as curves. Is this a result of the way the .ps files are generated or something specific to AD? As a note, when I import these same files to other programs (Illustrator, Preview) the text is treated as words (Art Text in AD vernacular). Note the selected '0' within '5500'. I would expect the whole of '5500' to be a single element.
  5. Select all objects on a page - including text. Group. Drag to scale (using scale handle on bottom right.) Everything scales accordingly. Ungroup. Text springs back to original size (before scaling).
  6. Hi, my name is Jude, I'm a front-end developer. I tried opening the psd file received from my designer and the file contains some font that I haven't installed. Affinity Designer then said: Some fonts for '01.index.psd' are missing. The document might not appear as you expect. The following fonts are missing: DFMingStd-W3 MicrosoftJhengHeiRegular After pressing "OK", I found that all text layers didn't exist. When using Adobe Photoshop, even if I have not installed the extra fonts, I still can see the text layers and copy or change the contents. Wish we can use Affinity Designer with the layer's information correct, at least. Thanks.
  7. All the text boxes have the same font and size. On the tool bar the size is not shown. But when I use the Character panel it shows up... Also, it would be GREAT if like in Illustrator or Photoshop, once I click inside the text size box, if I use the up or down arrows on the keyboard, the text size increases or decreases by one point, or if I hold Shift key down, it increases or decreases by 10 points. Keep up the great work, the app rocks!
  8. This is my one deal breaker. I work in a large company that mainly uses Adobe Suite CC, which is unfortunate if I wanted to adopt Affinity Designer because I cannot share the EPS/PSD files I export from AD because the Dynamic text becomes outlined/flattened. I can however open Adobe files in AD and edit the text, with some quirks(a format issue for another topic). How can I preserve the edibility of my text so that third party users, such as clients or printers, can open and edit the original text using their software of choice? Whether that is Adobe or god forbid, Quark. *Note: I have found out that exporting as a SVG from AD and opening it in Illustrator CC retains the dynamic text, but breaks the text box into smaller art text pieces. Thank you,
  9. Just discovered that when using the “Frame Text Tool” (which is really nice by the way) you can not drag and drop a file of type “.textClipping” into the object rectangle. It gives the message “File type is not supported”. AD should have the ability to allow a drag and drop into any “Frame Text” object as text clippings are a pretty long standing file format on every Mac. Obviously one can drag the text clipping into any TextEdit or Mail window then do a copy and paste the text from there into a text frame in AD to get the same results. Any chance of supporting this file type as above in the future? I also just checked to see if I could use drag and drop to drag an “.rtf” file onto a text frame and that works perfectly. Nice. I you can handle ”.rtf” file “.textClipping” files should be a piece of cake. Max 
  10. I've been bringing text in for mockups from other sources: Word, Email, etc... What would be a huge time saver is the ability to paste just the text without bringing in font size, color, etc. In most applicaitons, this is an edit option called "Paste and Match Style". It brings the text over but retains any current style attributes of the existing text box. SInce there's no way (at the moment) to copy text styles from one object to another, the only thing I can think to do is manually tweak the font size and color each time after I paste. Thanks for what's shaping up to be an amazing application!
  11. Would love to be able to do the font spacing (horizontal kerning) and paragraph leading (vertical kerning) with a simple click of the mouse as in CorelDRAW. I'm a new Mac user, still on CorelDRAW X4 on VMWare Fusion. I'm looking for a good Mac Vector replacement, but it seems that every vector program is missing a few key features that I use regularly in CD. I will be listing the ones I'd love to see in Affinity. So far nothing is really a good replacement for the features I use. Would love to see Affinity become the Mac's CorelDRAW!
