  1. Hey folks! Migrating from Illustrator, and loving it so far! I have many lines in a project. Most of these lines need a label. I would love to make the labelling process as easy as I can. The photo attached shows two methods. I would love to figure out how to replicate the bottom result automatically. For it, I added an appropriately sized box and boolean subtracted that from the expanded stroke. The middle is just the two layers untouched. The top layer is what I am unable to get past. Thank you!!!
  2. How do I skew the text on a path like seen at B? I wouldn't necessarily need Illustrators C to E but B I could use right now and in the near future.
  3. hi there, probably a dead simple one this, but for the life of me i can't seem to figure it out, how do i make text follow a curve?
  4. The attached screen grab video details how I managed to bend logos accurately for a current job by using text on a path and copy pasting the vector logos inline, the majority of the job was done in Affinity Publisher but VectorStyler came to the rescue to help complete the idea - things to note: I discovered that the easiest way to move an inline distorted logo around a path is to keep a text character, also text baseline shifts come in handy for precise placement. this method worked out far more precise than using Illustrators or VectorStylers Arc tool. Hope someone finds it useful 988515601_BendyMethod.mov
  5. I'm running into a lot of difficulty in setting which side of a curve the text on a path feature chooses. I've linked a video, as I feel it's probably easier to demonstrate. https://youtu.be/SluRwNK3bUk I have a curve and I'm trying to type on the inside of it to hug the ellipse above it, but no matter where I seem to click near the curve, the text wants to go on the outside. As you can see I manage to make it work with the pen tool curve above the main piece, but the curve that I want to use isn't performing in the way documented from the help page. Is there something wrong with the path that needs to be addressed, or what am I doing wrong in this instance? Feature request to the developers: A handle allowing people to easily switch the side of the curve the text is on would be helpful. Thanks ahead of time for all the input provided!
  6. Hi, I've run into a reproducable crash in the current app store version (1.8.4) of Publisher that's been quite a pain for me. I'm not able to install the current beta at the moment so I can't confirm if it crashes there as well, but I suspect it would, too. Basically, every time I create a document with a certain template I made, the app will crash if I: - creat artistic text - use the "Layer->Convert to Text Path" menu option on a curve If I don't use the template and just use a built-in preset (Print->A4, for example), the app does not crash and runs just fine, so I suspect there is something in the template configuration that is causing havoc somewhere. An important detail about my computer configuration: I have Japanese installed as my secondary system language (primary being “English (South Africa)”. The template in question does have some Japanese text in it, using "Hiragino Maru Gothic Pro" font, which comes pre-installed with macOS. I mention this as issues with Japanese text have been part of previous issues I've reported here. I'm attaching the following files that I expect will be useful - TextCrash.aftemplate : the template in question - Text on Path Crash Report.txt : crash report generated when I tried to "Convert to Text Path" - Artistic Text Crash Report : crash report generated when I tried to create artistic text I hope this helps! 7. Hello When creating a text on path, the area underneath (in this case creating a half crescent shape) is filled with a solid white. Why is this, why not transparent like around the text and above? Have attached screenshot for reference, any help to make this area transparent much appreciated... Have added a 2nd photo with just a solid blue shape behind to show more clearly. Regards Neil
  8. I've watched the tutorials and I'm trying to make a text follow the outside of a circle. I find it extremely difficult. The control handles are small and difficult to manipulate and I can't get all the text to wrap nicely on the outside of the circle. Rather one letter always seems to want to stick to the inside. I've tried to find some tutorials that better explain these controls with no luck. Maybe you guys have a few pointers on how to get a better grasp on this? I hope in future revisions of the program that the control handles gets a make over in order to make them more intuitive and easy to manipulate.
  9. As a professional graphic designer who seeks to replace Photoshop and Illustrator by Photo and Designer, I would have these humble suggestions what to add to Affinity Photo for iPad: Possibility to switch off spellcheck in global settings. It is annoying to switch it off in the Text Studio every time after opening a file. Select all visible pixels of a layer by one click. Text on a path (so we can make a curved text). Paint a pen stroke with a selected brush. More filters (like image to sketch etc.). I know some of these features were allready rejected to add by the developer because they have said, Affinity Photo is just for editing photos and we should use Affinity Designer for design. Dear developer, please, reconsider this. I have, and I believe many others these days, been using Affinity Photo as a replacement for Photoshop (and Designer as a replacement for Illustrator). If we want to make a design primarily based on raster graphic, or prefer this way of work more, we go to Photo and make the design there. If we want to make something typically vector, like logos, we go to Designer. You do not need to be afraid that we will not use Designer because we would make everything in Photo. We just need a raster focused tool with also vector tools (Photo) and vector focused tool with raster tools (Designer). In other words, replace Photoshop and Illustrator, that is it. If you want to win us, please, reconsider viewing Affinity Photo as just a better photo editing tool. Also please consider, that we are already using some of these features in Affinity photo by means of macros. There is a famous set called "Mud's Macros v3" including e.g. Slection from Layer, Pencil Sketch filter and Text on a Curve. Hopefully this will be understood by the developers. I should also say that you did already a great job!
  10. Hi, is there any possibility in Affinity Photo to bend a text? Or even "text on a path"?
  11. Hi there! I googled a bit but i couldn't find a proper answer... Is there a way to make the top of the text to fit on a path? Here i found a tutorial for mine same problem but it's for Illustrator -> https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/19589/make-top-of-type-sit-on-path-illustrator Thanks for the support!
  12. I want to create a logo similar to the one I have attached below. I am having a hard time figuring out how to make the text at the bottom of the circle not be upside down. I don't want the circle to have text all around. I want the bottom portion to kind of "hang" from the path so it can all be read right side up. A Any tips or tutorials you could point me to?
  13. I have a text on a path that is making me pull my hair out. Attached. I have a set of numbers in Text on a Path next to the ellipse saying "26.5 x 105-15". I can click and place the cursor anywhere in the "26.5 x " but it totally ignores my attempt to place the cursor in the "105-15". What did I do wrong? I'm trying to select the 105, how can I do this? I also want to add text to the end, how can I do this? Can anyone explain what this is doing? This was created using beta 1.3.4.26925 Test25.afdesign
  14. Hey Matt, first off, love it the new text on a path feature, you guys have done yourselves proud. But I was playing with it just now and I did my regular thing wrote something on one hemisphere of an ellipse and the repositioned the start handle (By eye) so my text was level. This has always felt like a bit of unneccesary faff in illustrator and I was wondering if you guys had some secret wizardry planned so we could automatically do this on creation, or just have a button in the context bar for it? I guess you'd have to redo it every time you changed the tracking or scale of the text. It's late so I haven't put much thought into it but it would be killer. I think it would only really apply to ellipses but it could be used on diamond shapes too I suppose.
