  1. I know that being able to get digital copies of the Photo and Designer Workbooks is all the rage right now. Mostly as in rage at not being able to do it. However, I understand Serif's worry about the book being pirated and spread illegally after they put the time and effort in to it. That being said, they have also put a lot of time and effort into the software as well. So what if, along with brush packs and filters, we were able to purchase a license for the a digital copy of the workbooks but not in the traditional manner of thinking. What if it were built into the software so that it wasn't an easily pirateable format? Have a new window that is called "Tutorials" or "Workbooks" or something like that and that window houses each of the projects and instructions that are included in the workbook. We could also build community tutorials as well that could be added into the same window. Maybe have a "fleshing out" period for the community submitted ones, where others in the community or even Serif staff could be Beta testers for the tutorial, and if the merit is seen in the tutorial and it's not just a steaming pile.... then it gets added in as well. Then not only would those demanding digital versions of the workbook be happy, but then even more information could be had by all and it would make it that much easier for the program to spread to new users. Not to mention, if the book was built in to the software like that, then it could get incremental updates with the software as new features or functions become available What are your thoughts?
  2. Hello, This thread is just a question for the moderators. I've been noticing a lot of youtube videos popping up on my recommend that are taken directly from the Affinity Vimeo account. I'd like to know if this is intentional from the team. Or perhaps someone may be freebooting these videos in which case this is a PSA. Thank you.
  3. I'm going through the Elegance tutorial in the Affinity Photo Workbook. I've gotten to the part where we create a pixel layer for color, mark it as a color layer, and then choose the right color & paint it on. I did that. The only problem I have is that while the color I chose was a peach and it shows as peach in the color picker, the color comes out as blue. I figure I'm missing something, but can't figure out what. I've gone over the tutorial several times and can't see what I've missed. I'm hoping one of you can help point me in the right direction.
  4. In this short tutorial I demonstrate the Geometry operations (add, subtract, intersect, divide, combine) in Affinity Designer 1.6.0 (destructively and non-destructively) with some samples. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  5. Hi everyone, I am desperately searching for a tutorial or tips of you guys, how you are working with text styles in affinity designer. I dont' mean the artistic way of creating 3d texts or effects and the likes, but rather how u organize your h1, h2, text body styles, how do you create them and how to you apply these...any helpful tips or links are welcome. Thank you all. Best regards, rnb

  7. In this short tutorial I'll show you how to draw simple polygon spirals in Affinity Designer 1.6.0. We will use the rotation origin, transformation panel and the duplicate function. Link to the video on YouTube Enjoy the video and have fun to draw your own polygon spirals. It's simple but interesting! Norbert
  8. Hey all, I've been lurking on these forums for a while since I purchased Photo and Designer. I've also been using Serif software since the early 2000's starting with PhotoPlus 6.0 I think. Loving the software and looking forward to all the new stuff in the works. I came across a problem with cropping an image on a single layer. Every time I would crop, it would crop the entire canvas. I played with the software a bit and was able to come up with a quick way to crop an image on a single layer without affecting the others. I don't know if this information exists somewhere else on this forum but I could not find it anywhere. Please see the video below if you're interested: If anyone has any other ideas for tutorials I'm open to suggestions. Thanks, Collin
  9. Hi I am new to this program on both the iPad and the iMac. I recently bought an iPad Pro and an iMac as I am an artist wanting to start to blend my painting (fine art) with graphic design - I have some experience using Photoshop over the years, however, this program is much (IMHO) better, yet I am on a steep learning curve. Please can you direct me to any tutorials that help with Exporting from the iPad Pro to an iMac and what format I should be doing this in please? Is it possible to bulk export? The reason I ask is because there seems to be a glitch with the App on my iPad Pro and I have been advised to delete and reinstall it, however, I have a lot of work on the iPad and want to transfer files before I do so. Is there a feature within the iMac versions of Photo and Designer that can import from the iPad Pro without having to attempt it from the iPad to the iMac? Any help would be awesome Cheers Mat
  10. My new book cover design tutorial (Search The Woods) is part of the new Affinity Photo Workbook Hope my work is helpful and lets many people get creative. http://b-bertuleit.de/tutorial-fuer-affinity-photo-workbook https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/workbook/
  11. I was viewing a utube tutorial on shadow removal using Affinity Photo for Desktop. I thought it might be useful (for an inexperienced me) to document how to achieve the same result on the iPad version of Affinity Photo. The image used was made available for download and personal use so hopefully I am not infringing on any copyright. Admins please remove if in doubt. Others who are new to photo editing and AP on the iPad may find the technique useful too, hence posting it here. Removing_facial_shadows.pdf edit - reuploaded as pdf was not working.
  12. Hi everyone. After being part of a conversation with one of the forum members where they expressed a wish to have a start to finish set of tutorials about developing landscapes I thought I'd do something about it. So here it is: https://www.udemy.com/affinity-photo-developing-landscapes/ I've tried to make it different from the other courses I've done. Instead of presenting a range of tools and techniques, I've made the workflow a priority. You get to develop a series of (downloadable) landscape photos and follow a series of steps to get to the finished photo. There are variations with each photo, but the process is similar each time. I've done this for two reasons. The first is that, given this is a workflow based course, it seems only sensible to practice that workflow repeatedly to make sure people get comfortable with it. The other is that I've chosen different kinds of landscape photos to demonstrate the flexibility of the method. I hope it's of some use to you and thanks for your time, Simon

  14. I'm new. And old. And, I've never written in a forum before - ever. So be gentle. ... After sampling the tutorial support for Affinity, I was so blown away, I crumbled, and impulse-bought the heck out of it. And, so far, I'm really glad I did. So, what's my problem? - I just can't make out the dock icons. The display is a 27 inch iMac. Here's a side by side picture of the tutorial icons vs. the program icons. It may not look like a big difference, but like I said, I'm old. Is there anything that I can do? Affinity Icon.tiff
  15. Hi everyone, I just wanted to let people know that I've released an 8.5 hour course about Affinity Photo for the iPad here: https://www.udemy.com/affinity-photo-for-the-ipad/ - it's aimed at beginners and I've structured the course to take you from novice to competent user. I wanted to hold off starting the course until the software went through a couple of updates and the latest iOS was released so that Serif had the chance to get things ticking over nicely. So here it is, and I hope you get a lot out of it. Thanks for your interest, Simon

  20. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy using the affinity designer software. 23. Hi peeps, I leave here a tut on how to create an skeuomorphic volume knob. I'd say this kind of simple pieces is how I started learning how to "read objects" in order to reproduce them in a realistic way. It is pretty simple to follow through even for newbies and results are quite nice. Hope you enjoy it, and if so, comment, like and subscribe for more. Thank you all. Isabel.
