  1. I would find the ability to import and export swatch palettes incredibly valuable. Furthermore, the ability to re-arrange my swatches by drag and drop would be very useful when working with large palettes so I don't have to be mindful of the order I add them in. Finally, is it really necessary to ask the user Are You Sure you want to delete this? Especial;lily considering I've already had to tap and hold on a swatch, only to be presented with a menu which then asks me to pick between rename and delete. Is the modal pop-up Are You Sure needed? - Along those lines, when in swatch list mode, a double tap on a swatch to start renaming would be appreciated. Little details which I hope would help make the management easier, fun and swifter. But especially swatch import please.
  2. With the UI language set to 'English (United Kingdom)', the Colour panel is correctly labelled but the dropdown list of categories in the Swatches panel offers a choice between 'Grays', 'Colors' and 'Gradients' instead of 'Greys', 'Colours' and 'Gradients'.
  3. Hi, It would be nice that if you open a document that has a document palette this palette would be selected by default. I know it is trivial but it is an extra step that feels really unnecessary.
  4. Hi! I've been playing with the trial version of Affinity Designer for a while and I must say I'm loving it! However, when testing all the tools I normally use in Illustrator, there's three features that I often use but can't seem to find in Designer... 1. Pattern creation - In Illustrator, I can make any vectorial shape I make or image I embed into a pattern. It's as easy as dragging the shape/image to the Swatches panel, and voila. How is this done in Affinity Designer? 2. Gradient brush - Likewise, in Illustrator I can turn a rectangle containing a gradient into a brush. This is very useful to create graphic elements like tubes, pipes, and shapes with that appearance. Is this possible with Affinity Designer? 3. Live Paint Bucket - Does Designer have a similar tool? I'd love to know if these features are available in Designer, as I really want to switch to Serif and finally ditch Adobe's subscription! <_< Thanks :)
  5. Sort Swatches by Colour in the Swatches panel is good... But to be able to sort the swatches by Hue, Saturation or Lightness would be great and very useful. Is this possible? Please! :) :)
  6. As a veteran Corel Draw user, after 48 hours i immediately found Affinity Desinger truly fascianating. Its fast, smooth and im glad Affinity adopts solutions from Illustrator and Corel too, and im expremely happy that AFD is available for Windows already. I would be ready to change my workflow to continue daily work with Affinity only but there are few things i really miss. Please consider to implement these things: - Swatches part1: To me its awfully slow to choose the right colour of fill/stroke to an object. This is what i truly hate in Illustrator too. In CorelDraw there is a very simple way to do that: Palettes are always visible on the right side of the screen - RGB, CYMK or any palettes you want. Left click to fill, right click to stroke. It makes the procedure lightning fast. - Swatches part2: There is no way to work comfortably with swatches (saying as a Corel user). I would love to see them all the time on the side, and use the colour wheel only if its neccessary. Also i really wanna know what colour im actually using on an object. CorelDraw is amazing in that case. See the attached picture. Working with text: In Corel there is an option to move each letter independently in the letter boksz with the Shape Tool. As far as i know there is no option for that in AFD yet. These may seem small things, but it truly fastens the process while working on a complex graphic, without clicking a bunch of times across the screen. If u could make these options available somehow im sure more and more users would be ready to change to Affinity. Thanks and respect for your brilliant work, Dear Affinity Team!
  7. Hey there, what I'm missing so far regarding the swatches panel: - Easy renaming workflow of swatches with F2 and Tab, and to go further: something like Renamy would be even more awesome - Select and delete/copy multiple swatches. At least it should be possible to click/select and delete via DEL-key to easliy clear up the swatches - "remove unused colors"-option to quickly clean up a palette - usecase would be mostly the the document-related palettes - Convert already added swatches to Global/Spot-Colors - Ability to easily set spot-color-name the same as swatch-name and vice versa (without copy-paste, perhaps with a checkbox in the settings of each swatch) - Missing a direct "Add current color to palette as Spot Color" very much! - The to "Add current color to palette [...]"-Icons are not very distinctive. I would've added at least a big triangle in the left bottom corner of the button regarding the "add as global color" option to suit the appearance of those color in the swatch-list/grid below - Setting/checkbox/action to add swatches via "create Palette from document/image" directly as Global/Spot-colors. - Indicator to see in which Colormode the color originally was created and then have the ability to quickly switch color from RGB to CMYK-Mode and vice versa (perhaps even be able to determine the rendering/conversion while doing so) Greetings, Johannes.
  8. Based on https://material.io/guidelines/style/color.htmlI created swatches for Affinity with all Material Design colors, properly named nad sorted. Enjoy Material.zip
  9. Hi all, I was colouring a set of storyboards in AP and wanted to set a palette for all the documents by using global colours. When I saved the palette from the first storyboard panel, and brought it into subsequent frames, I seemed to lose colours. Also, there came a point when I was unable to add any new colours. For example, I made a set of flesh tones but could save none of them, so I had to remake them for each of the nine frames. Has anyone else has this issue? This will very likely crop up for me again soon, so I'll need to nail this down :) I admit it could be my lack of understanding but some pointers would help. Thank you in advance, Kevin
  10. Hello everyone, So after importing swatches that contain a lot of colors (ase), I found that their name were screwed up wish is not a big deal as long as I can edit their name again. But the process of doing so is very long and not user friendly At the moment : - To identify the color -> Edit the fill by double clicking or right click + edit - Then you can rename it by -> Right click rename. What would be really nice, and I doubt it is a huge issue to do so: - Add a name input directly in the "edit fill" popup bellow the drop down menu for example If you still want to have the confirmation of the user because it can't be undone, you could add a lock next to the name input so people have first to unlock before editing. But at least, it doesn't require to leave that popup and right click on the fill to edit the name... It also solves the issue that when you right click -> rename and push enter to save it looses the color fill you had selected on the swatches.
  11. I'd like to suggest a few improvements to the Swatches panel: Ability to convert swatches from and to normal/global/spot. For example, convert a normal swatch to global, or convert a spot to normal, and so on. Fills should automatically rename when colour is edited. For example, a fill named C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:10 should change to C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:50 if I do edit the colour to be a 50% black. Ability to group swatches into folders. Global colours names should be their values (for example C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:0) rather than "Global Colour %n" A command to select/delete all unused swatches. Perhaps create a document palette by default for any new document? A "Merge Swatches" command that works like in Illustrator Select multiple swatches at once to delete/copy them Global, overprint and spot colour indicators should be larger, they're hard to see when the swatch is selected (see attached) All these are to help us manage & identify the colours, plus correcting mistakes all designers make eventually. :P Thanks!
  12. It would be a welcome addition if we could make a swatch based on another swatch, not unlike Sass (https://robots.thoughtbot.com/controlling-color-with-sass-color-functions). In interfaces for example, I could create a green button with a darker green border. The darker green would be based on the original green and have the same hue and saturation, but the lightness would differ. That way, if I later change my mind and want to make all green buttons blue, the dark border would shift along. I'm looking forward to your thoughts!
  13. Hello, I can't find a way to copy or save a color set in a color overlay layer FX to a swatch. If this is not possible yet, I think it's essential to a lot of UI designers out there. Thanks, Fernando
  14. Hello, I am working on documents that contain many shades of washed out colors and sometimes it's hard to differentiate the swatches. I wished that selecting an object whose color is a swatch would highlight the swatch on the swatches panel. Thanks, Fernando
  15. I always want to be able to save and use custom gradient swatches and they appear in any place where I am given color as an option, but as it stands I cannot. Gradient swatches seem to be unaccessible. I want to be able to choose a custom graident inside of the layer effects option whenever I see that I can change the color of an effect.
  16. I am having a problem with setting a default swatches palette. I don't think it is an AP problem I think it is probably my understanding of how defaults work ....... When AP opens it always opens withe Black and White swatches displayed. I have my own swatches palette that I use that combines Back and White and Colours in a single palette. I have imported this as an application palette. So can I get AP to open with this in place instead of my having to select it from the dropdown every time? I have tried setting this palette as default for RGB8 which what I work in most of the time. This changes nothing - presumably because until an RGB8 document is open it has nothing to which it can default. But if I open a new RGB8 document I still have to manually select the palette. So what does "default" mean here and how should I implement it? Apologies if I am being seriously dumb ............
  17. I've been using the Affinity Designer. However, I still find myself missing some of the straightforward options in DrawPlus. First, I think an Undo button at the top would be nice instead of having to go to Edit on the menu bar. Second, I like the Color section. What I miss is the simplified Publication pallet for quick colors. That being said, I think this Affinity Designer is a great product. My comments were geared to the many DrawPlus users who will eventually have to make a switch. It seems like a lot of that program is in this new Designer. The color selections alone are very impressive. Where would I find information on how to use the layer functions in Affinity Designer?
  18. I find the tiny swatches for gradients almost completely useless for identifying them. Setting swatches to large helps this a little bit, but not a lot, and, because it is a global change, makes the main colour swatches very cumbersome and destroys the neat and logical columnar arrangement of the colours unless you drag the palette out very wide. I really think it would help if gradients had long horizontal swatches that really would give the user a chance to see the contents.
  19. What about divide the border and main object color to be able disable both these colors without focus on them? If i want to disable border color and main color is focused, i have to swtich them as first and disable them. Problem is there is a lot of useless clicks when creating an UI and trying some object with or without color etc.
  20. How can I name a swatch without Affinity Designer crashing? So far it crashes each time, and only two of the swatches show up on the list. I'm working on Mac Sierra.
  21. One of the great features in Affinity is the huge choice of palette styles. I like to select my colours from swatches which I find very quick and then use the colour wheel for fine tuning if needed. However I found myself getting rather irritated by having to keep switching between Greys and Colours in the swatches palette. In the end I solved this by building my own combo Greys and Colours palette which is saved to an afpalette file. You can see it here. Which leads me to my question - is there some special reason that I am missing for segregating these two swatch palettes? Which leads in turn to a request - is there any chance of creating much wider gradient palettes? They really are not very easy to read in their present form. I think it would be a huge help. As ever thank you all for your exceptional standard of support. It really is the best.
  22. In revising my AD color palette I see no way to delete multiply swatches (entire sections of individual swatches). Am I missing something?
  23. Hi, I see the following improvement to the swatches workflow: A.) drag & drop from swatches panel into the color field of the gradient overlay B.) drag & drop from swatches panel into the color field of the color overlay Why this could speed up the workflow: To add or change the color in a layer fx it is necessary to open the "layer fx window" and choose the function "color overlay". Ok. If users have their swatches panel already open, like me, (with for example: document palette) I could easily pick the desired swatch and drag it into the the color field if drag n drop would be possible. At the moment I have to click on the color field and "hope" that the popped-up color window is presenting me already the desired color, if not: I have to do some more "mouse work" like choosing swatches and then choosing document palette to get to the desired color. But see this request more as cosmetic then minor or even major. Cheers, Stefan.
  24. Hi, it would save a lot of time if the layer fx "gradient overlay" AND outline ("Umrandung" - see 3rd attached image) would have the same functionality as "color overlay": the ability of choosing swatches - gradients in this case. For a vice versa functionality - see also: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/25422-how-to-get-a-color-gradient-from-layer-fx-into-swatchesgradients/ Thanks for taking your time and thinking about it, Stefan.
  25. Hi guys, I have created a color gradient in a layer fx (see image) - now I want to copy that gradient somehow or ideally make it a swatch/global gradient. But I don't see how. Thanks in advance, Stefan.
