  1. Hello! This is my first sharing here, I don't use to do it but I start to love this program. I created for this work some base with textures, and effects, on the top I've created some digital painting for the cracks (hope is the right word :) ) As you can see the difference from locked and unlocked levels are the luminosity of the numbers and base, in the unlocked levels we have a glow inside and outside and in the locked we have the deep engraving with shadows. You can find my UI portfolio on my FLICKR UI Album Enjoy
  2. Hey guys, I'm trying to make a style out of a brush stroke I'm using for a project. When I make it a style it makes the stroke bigger or smaller, pretty much the opposite of what I want. I may not be doing this correctly. I usually right click on the stroke and make it a style, I even tried it from the studio window- but same issue. Even after renaming it the style keeps rendering whatever I apply it too incorrectly. Is there a way to either save a modified brush as a new custom brush or properly create a style out of a brush stroke? Any help would be much appreciated.
  3. Been working on this stuff right here and its almost there. Custom layers styles coming soon.
  4. Is there no way to update a style in the Styles panel and have all object that use that style update? I've been searching around but can't seem to find a way to do it.
  5. In this quicktip [ GERMAN | ENGLISH subtitles ], I'll show you how to transfer styles and effects from one object to another object in Affinity Designer. https://youtu.be/gqp_dTqYppI Keep on drawin' Norbert
  6. Hi, I use both Affinity products on windows 10 Pro platform. Is there a limit to the number of Brushes or the number of Styles I can add to these programs? I am interested in making sets of both for other users and wondered if too many will crash programs or slow them down too much. I have 16Gig RAM,SSD RAM 1Ggi Graphics card 8 x CPU@3.5 mgh. Thank you~!
  7. Needed a few wild animal textures for AD, so I made some custom styles for this purpose.
  8. Just trying out some setting and came up with a few that I thought I'd share. Really just playing with settings again. If you click scale with settings you should get better results on these. Hope you see the setting and maybe come up with your own. Grey Styles.afstyles.zip

  10. 1) I deleted the category Default form the styles panel. Then selected an object and clicked Add Style from Selection. I am sure that this should have been grayed out, since no category existed in which to add the Style. AD crashed with Object Exception error. Sadly, I have not been able to recreate this issue :( 2) With an object selected I can right click and choose Create Style, but the in the Styles panel menu Add Style from Selection is grayed out - why? Are the two options not the same? If they are the same, then it is confusing that one is called Create and the other Add.
  11. I know this question will be responded to with workarounds, but anyway. When I create an object the top toolbar shows FILL and STROKE. BUT when TWO or MORE objects are selected both these styling options are not present on the toolbar. Please can these be present when multiple objects are selected so fills and strokes can be applied quickly. Thank you.
  12. Can't seem to get letter spacing (kerning) to become active regardless of font used. The drop-down menu shows either 'auto' or '0%' as active, with all other available spacing options (i.e., -5% etc) greyed out. To replicate, type some text, then select Text->Show Character (or CTRL+T), and try to enter a value to adjust kerning (top left box under 'Positioning and Transform').
  13. I had created several styles and then decided to clean up my styles by recategorizing them into new categories. I ended up having to create new objects, apply my existing styles to them, create new styles in the new categories that I had created, and then delete the old styles from the default categories. I tried to find out where Affinity Designer stores the styles on my disk but was unsuccessful. I was hoping I could solve the problem at the Finder. So where are the styles stored and can they be edited? If not, I will add a feature request to be able to move styles between categories. Thanks... Fred
  14. I've noticed an counter-intuitive result when editing text in Affinity. If I highlight a section of text, then type over it, I expect the resulting text to maintain the styles of the previously highlighted text. However in Affinity, only the first typed character keeps the style, the following characters use the styles of the text AFTER the insertion point. Example: I type two lines of text. I make the first line bold I highlight the whole first line (triple click) I type to replace this line with new text. The resulting text has a bold first character, but regular thickness for the rest. I'm not sure if this is by design, but it's really annoying!
  15. There are issues with text styles that may (or may not) warrant looking into. Several attributes (paragraph spacing, font sizes, font styles, etc) do not remain once they've been set. Recreate the issue by creating several new styles, and apply them to a paragraph. Once applied, return to the style style panel(s) to alter the settings. You may (or may not) see that your values previously set have changed dramatically, without user input. Am using version 1.5.0.29 (RC5).
  16. Ok maybe I'm missing something here but I know I was able to rename object styles in previous betas and now I can't seem to do it?? I't been a while since I played with Affinity so maybe I've forgotten?
  17. I had this broken Text Styles Window: Then I switched in settings to english and reopened the program, after that it was OK: I switched back the language again but the problem is gone now. UPDATE: I can reproduce it. Start AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) If Text-Styles are already visible --> Menu -- View --> Studio --> disable Text Styles Restart AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) Add some Artistic Text, and keep it selected Menu -- View --> Studio --> enable Text Styles
  18. version 1.5.0.9 Can not find text or paragraph styles panels. Unable to create text or paragraph styles.
  19. I'm enjoying playing around with AD and I've discovered I can create styles using my extensive collection of seamless tiling bitmap fills so nice! Now my next question is say I wanted to share a style that uses a bitmap fill does a copy of the applied bitmap get stored within the AD styles file? or would I need to supply the bitmap externally in a zip file? Of course I would only share bitmaps that I have created and have the the rights to share. :)
  20. i accidentaly deleted history and layers and fx and styles from right side tool bar can someone tell me what to do ? hlp.afdesign
  21. I began with the Trial version of Affinity Designer (1.4) and created some styles using straight lines (strokes only) and polygons with different strokes and fills. It went well. Then I purchased AD 1.4.1, but the styles didn’t work. It would not allow me to create a style as a stroke only. It required stroke and fill. When I used the styles, the strokes were of different thichnesses than defined. Can I make the Styles work in 1.4.1 as they did in the Trial version (1.4)? Thanks
  22. I'm finding that when I create a custom style, the stroke colour and fill colour are applied, but not the stroke width.
  23. Just had to dump an hours work as I was playing (yes without a save) and applied a style to an adjustment layer which I could not undo even by clearing the filters .... I think the application of styles should be included in the history area to enable a quick undo! - This of course might be a bug....
  24. Hi, I just wondered if there is a shortcut for selecting the eyedropper. I'm kind of used to the double click of a colour and then selecting another like in Adobe Illustrator. The behaviour in AD appears to be to click and drag on the eyedropper. It may be me but I find it a bit convoluted. Also is there a way to copy one object's style attributes and paste to another, rather than creating a style first and then clicking on it. I'll apologise now if I've missed something glaringly obvious, I usually do!
  25. Hello, Just started vectoring my first big piece of artwork with Affinity and hit upon a snag... I cant find the eye drop tool? Within my work process I create a shape, add outline colour, point thickness, apply internal colours and style - then when creating a new shape that requires the same treatment click cmd + i, bringing up the eye drop tool which clones styles onto the new object. Is this possible in Affinity? its a bit of a pain to manually do each shape and item.
